I've been to many a brewery/taproom, some of them excellent some of them awful. Tie & Timber is one of the best overall experiences I've ever had at a taproom. Upon entering I noticed a group with some dogs. I had just lost my 14 year old dog and I needed some solace, and some doggie love would help too. I started petting this small black dog, (Frankie) and his owner walks over to me and asks how I was doing. I told her what had happened and she put her arm around me. Later, I found out this lady is Jen, the founder and head brewer of Tie & Timber. How many other head brewers spend time amongst their patrons, not to mention console them when they hear said patrons dog has passed away? I'd say none that's how many. But, it wasn't just Jen, it was everyone in this place, they were all exceptionally nice and friendly. There is zero pretentiousness in this taproom, and that was so refreshing after having grown accustomed to ample amounts of it at so many breweries. The guys behind the bar were happy to talk shop with me as I'm an avid homebrewer myself. Curtis, Jen's partner, even gave me some tastes of what they had in fermentation. Beyond all the great people, there is some of the best beer I've tasted in this region (Arkansas-Missouri) and they are definitely brewing the best beer in Springfield. Everything I tasted was very good, but these brews are not to be missed: Mimoski, Kokomo Porter, Green Fingers, Basil Saison, and Hoptomic Blond. These 5 beers were really special. It's a pity I live so far away, if I lived in the Springfield area this would become my regular spot for sure. I can't wait to return here and see what they're brewing soon. If you like good people, good conversation, dogs, and excellent beer then plan a visit to Tie & Timber!!!!
