Went here for a mother-daughter bonding breakfast on a Saturday morning at 0900- we were seated right away by a quick but cheery waitress.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the renovations were on point with clean, brightly lit, colorful booths and aisles, but not in *too* gaudy of a way.
I ordered the Sirloin steak and eggs, with a side option of grits.
Pros: GRITS WERE VOLUMINOUS, CREAMY, GORGEOUS. I added the whipped sweet butter on the side and some salt and pepper and I downed the entire cup so fast. Consistency was on point- but yes, you do need to add your own salt and pepper for flavormaxxing.
Eggs were cooked to a perfect over easy- dippy, just the way I like it
Coffee is ORGANIC (gasp! At a diner?? Call the press) fair trade, and my cup of black joe went down smooth with a gentle, neutral flavor.
CONS:
- I asked for a medium-rare steak, and it was barely pink, so I'd say more on the "medium-well" side. Maybe it's because how it was cooked, but it was tough and semi-dry on the inside too. But, for the price, it was not half bad.
- my mom's Western omelette was dry/possibly from being overcooked. Also, the add-ins of onion, bell pepper, and ham are added raw/cold, which I don't prefer for an omlette. Like, you don't have to caramelize the onions, but at least give 'em a lil sear!
Efficiently run, robust options, but food ended up being average, compared to a ma and pop diner. Would still probably return!
