Delivery Apps Keep Adding Restaurants Without Their Consent | Eater

"A Philadelphia Indian restaurant that has filed a class‑action lawsuit alleging that a delivery platform sets up alternate phone numbers and charges fees for every call forwarded through those lines, many of which do not result in orders; the owner is seeking approximately $5 million in damages while the delivery company disputes the claims." - Caleb Pershan

Google
This is a great place for Indian food there to go service is amazing. They have a small restaurant to Eden the customer service as well sought after and they are well known for allowing you to choose the spice level. Go ahead and ask for off the menu items when you get there and be sure to mentionyour affiliation with India. They’re very happy and proud to serve you and look forward to hearing what you have to say about their delicious food.

Vivek S.

Google
Being run by a couple with north indian roots, the food needs to be tasted to be believed. Chefs are also having Indian roots so authenticity is ensured. Must try the lamb preparations and their mango lassi

William G.

Google
This restaurant offers a decent Indian dining experience, though it didn’t particularly stand out. The flavors were enjoyable but not especially memorable. I also found the prices a bit on the higher side for the portion sizes—two butter chickens and two orders of naan came to $58, which felt a little steep. While it may be a good option for those in the area, I personally was hoping for a bit more in terms of value and flavor.

Estefani R.

Google
The food was great, the price for the portions not so great. I ordered online and there was no way of finding out the portions to each order. Revising the menus to include the amount of servings would be most helpful for those ordering for a big family. I would order again because the food was good but not for my whole family.

Google
OMG! The absolute best Butter Chicken & Samosas, excellent service, lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff - recommend for sure

Lori H.

Google
Ordered the Lamb & also Spinach Saag. Superb meal..Excellent amount of spice, as ordered. The Gentleman taking the order was very nice & helpful. This was a take-out.

Ghassan H.

Google
Order butter chicken with Uber Eats, worst I’ve ever had. Tastes like boiled chicken dipped in a bad sauce. Never again. Also their Naan is more like pita bread. What a waste

A. B.

Google
Just ordered malai kofta and chicken tikka masala. Disappointed by the drop in quality because we have had good food from here in the past. Tikka gravy was sour and watery and the chicken pieces were overcooked and tough. Malai kofta sauce was sweet, despite the medium spice requested.

Yelp
Thoroughly impressed! I had my reservations...often times as places open multiple locations, they might lose quality, but I can't see that being the case here. First off - portions were large! While being a party of two, we ordered the paneer tikka masala and it is easily two hearty meals (three if you are a small portion eater.) We also ordered the Samosa Chaat and Onion Bhaji - which were fantastic starters. Everything was cooked so well, and we were blown away by their tikka masala sauce. Super rich and creamy, and perfect balance of tomato sauce (tang) and onion sauce. I loved the apps too, and not to mention, their garlic naan is out of this world. Beyond how great the food was, I do have to comment on their service. I ordered through grubhub and accidentally selected the Mount Airy location by mistake. Long story short - I had attempted to cancel my order and there was a miscommunication with grubhub, which threw everything off. So I showed up at location to pick up my order and it wasn't prepared. They quickly rallied with me, apologized for the inconvenience (which none of it was their fault at all) and had me out of there in about 10-15 minutes. They were empathetic and kind, and that will leave a lasting impression for me. This is easily a top Indian spot for us, and can't wait to try it from other locations.

Yelp
A great way to earn a zero at a restaurant or food establishment is to serve cold food. Another great way to earn a zero is to give extremely small portions. This place knocked it out of the park being the absolute worst not only making Samosa Chaat incorrectly but then serving it to me cold. The shrimp Curry/ spicy dish had great flavor, but they definitely could have given more shrimp/ protein. The rice was wet and soggy along with the bread. I've gotten food from here before from the Elkins Park location and the food was also terrible from there. I can conclude that the tiffin brand/corporate Indian American entity... really sucks at making American Indian food

Brooke G.

Yelp
I had high hopes with this place after seeing a special on door dash. Everything I ordered came quickly and hot but when I started to dish out the rice, I noticed a bug in the food. I thought okay.. things happen maybe it was just a one off coincidence that a little beetle got into the food. We continued to eat and threw out the container with the bug. Now, onto the samosas...great flavor but mid bite I noticed ANOTHER BUG INSIDE THE FOOD. Disgusting that this place is allowed to operate in such nasty conditions. Wouldn't be surprised if I get food poisoning after this. Beware!!!!!

Bridget W.

Yelp
I decided to finally stop into Tiffin (Mt. Airy) because parking is at a premium, and there was a parking space directly in front of the door. To my surprise the food was picture perfect, the staff was polite and knowledgeable, and the ambiance was quaint and extremely clean, even the bathroom! Way to go and it's in the neighborhood. How convenient
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
I was craving Indian like crazy. I ordered delivery: the Dal Makhani and a Rose Lassi. It was plenty for two meals, more bang for my buck. I got the Dal spicy, and it was perfectly spicy. Was also pleased to see a Rose Lassi on the menu as I have never seen that before (usually i see rose milk). It was a delicate rose flavor and very yum. Since I ordered delivery, it was about $40 total, including tip. (I also got two water bottles). 20$ per meal isn't terrible considering I didn't have to leave my house to receive it! The delivery was very quick, too, which is also a plus. I am looking forward to ordering from them again.

Yelp
EXCELLENT Indian takeout. So filling and delicious. We played it mostly safe w familiar dishes: Chana masala & samosas, but took a chance Cauliflower Bezule which was extraordinarily good. We selected the eco friendly "reusable containers" option. Our meal came in turquoise snap close containers that attractively held the food and really added to the pleasure of ordering from Tiffin. YES: vegan friendly

Terri A.

Yelp
I always get takeout or delivery. Everything has been delicious. I love their curries and naan. A bit pricey.

Michael H.

Yelp
I have to say I was very disappointed this go round with my order. I spent a little over $70 and I expected the food quality to be way better. We ordered 2 orders of butter chicken (1 spicy, 1 mild) tandoori roti, classic naan and mango chutney. I have nothing to say about the chutney, naan, and roti. It was consistent with what I usually would expect. The entrees however were not. The sauce was very loose, the chicken was chopped some pieces huge and others were bits? Typically the meat is cubbed. I've been coming here for years and never once had the food quality so poor. I hope next time is a way better experience and that this one time doesn't set the tone for experiences moving forward.
google avatar

Helen W.

Yelp
The taste and quality of the food was good. However they are pricy and you don't get a lot of food. My curry lamb was $19 and Chicken Tikka was $17 and they came in this small container. I paid about $50 for this order and it didn't even come with forks or napkins.

Jordan T.

Yelp
Food is always great. People are nice. I have three issues after ordering from them for many years. 1) they never provide utensils even when I order on Uber eats and specifically click "request utensils" , 2) every time I order 2 meals usually w a friend, they give us only 1 container of rice to share. We then have to divide it ourselves and one person can eat out of the rice container and add their food (example tikka masala or butter chicken) while the second person has to try to eat out of the tiny chicken container thats not big enough to even add their rice portion to [give us two containers of rice!] and 3) they are very expensive. I changed to ordering only when there is buy one get one free deals on delivery apps from them.

Cheni K.

Yelp
The food is typically delicious. However, this time I ordered lamb curry. What was brought to the table was lamb roganjosh. The waiter tried to convince me that it was curry. There were tomatoes in the sauce and no distict flavor or color of curry powder. I have been eating Indian food my whole life. My father went to Banares University, and when he married my mum, she learned to make curry from scratch. DON'T TRY TO LIE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS. I was going to return the next day with a party of 10. You have now lost my business.

Emily D.

Yelp
INCREDIBLE!! traveling from Chicago & ordered a bunch of food for my week here. It is SO good & spiced perfectly. Each dish is unique & different. Thank you!
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
Tiffin is ok Indian food. The Chicken Tikka Masala and Saag Paneer are solid, but could use more flavor. I enjoyed the Samosas (we ordered the chicken and the veggie). The naan was fine. I dunno, I feel like the food is a bit overpriced for what you get. I'd probably order again since we have very few decent food options in Mt. Airy.
google avatar

Rob K.

Yelp
Really good take out, dining room small n very casual. Favorites: chicken chettinad, bhangan barta (eggplant), saag paneer.

Sarah G.

Yelp
I've had the pleasure of having this spot 3 different times at work. The butter chicken is a great choice!!! Will definitely be ordering again.

Kyle D.

Yelp
Tried Tiffin take out for the first time and they nailed it. Food came hot and delicious and will order again!
google avatar

Anne F.

Yelp
Tasteless, so they covered it up with salt and sugar. Pakoras were bland. Too expensive for portion size- ridiculous. The lamb Rogan Josh had fake precut garlic that you get in a bottle. It was littered with the stuff. Wouldn't order from here again. Couldn't even finish the meal.
google avatar

Lana G.

Yelp
All the reviews about not getting your food in a reasonable time are absolutely correct. If you're super hungry, do NOT order from here. I loathe the markup from all these delivery places; grubhub/doordash/postmates etc make a $20 meal for two almost $40 with delivery fees, services fees and taxes on both. When I can, I try to order directly from a restaurants website, or call. Tiffin has a website. Tiffin even allows for credit card payments ON DELIVERY. Whaaaaat!?! Great. So I ordered Samosa Chaat, a meal I've eaten over and over again at a million indian (and indian inspired) establishments. They had a "Game Day Deal" that included three appetizers for $15 (a $6 savings). I ordered this and was excited about how easy I thought Tiffin had made the transaction. A full 1.5 hours later I was on my second call to them asking for the status of my food. Moments later though the driver rang my bell and I hurried to the kitchen to unpack my food. *insert expletives* Samosa Chaat is essentially a chick pea stew with vegetable samosa dropped in. All three containers were JUST SAMOSAS. not a single chickpea, not even the sauces that come with. just dry samosas. Included in the bag were two very large containers of dipping sauces. The containers themselves were labelled "samosa chaat" I'm assuming to ensure the preparer or the customer knew what the content should be.... Due to my hunger I ate the samosas. I should have called an demanded they send the driver back but didnt. A less than heroic move on my part I guess. The food wasnt bad. Wasnt what I ordered either, but the flavors were in line with what I was craving. I dont know that I'll ever offer this place my money, via delivery anyway. And I cant honestly say they I'd recommend anyone else to either. It really just wasnt worth the frustration or disappointment.
google avatar

J D.

Yelp
Sauces are delicious but this place uses frozen vegetable mix (the peas corn carrot kind) for all of its vegetable dishes. The menu is also misleading because things are labeled that vegetarian things can be made vegan but every time I have asked, they said they can't because they already made it non-vegan. I have given this place a few tries thinking maybe I just ordered the wrong thing but I won't be back. Wish they used fresh vegetables. Not worth $15 for rice and frozen veg in sauce.
google avatar

Ninja K.

Yelp
Update: The last visit was my last. The food was tasteless and nasty again. This Tiffin location can't seem to keep a chef / cook. There is no consistency with their food anymore. Some times it's on point, other times it's too spicy and then at times no flavor. Save your money and go elsewhere.
google avatar

Warren Is No Longer On Yelp W.

Yelp
Another typically generic Northern Indian place geared for timid, non-discriminating Western palates. I've never gotten take out from here, but can't imagine it being better than what is served in house. Service is indifferent, food is forgettable, prices are on the high side for what you get. Each time I've been here, I had to go to the cashier to pay as waiting to get the check was a glacial event. Three banal meals here convinced me there was no reason to return.
google avatar

Shauna J.

Yelp
This review is for dine in service, I've never ordered take out from this location. Last night my husband took me on a date for Indian food. It's rare for us to go since he's not the world's biggest Indian food fan. We had the Garlic Naan which while hot, tasty, and light, could have used a bit more garlic. I had the Tandoori Shrimp which was very good. The shrimp we're cooked perfectly and had good flavor. My husband had the Lamb Korma. He enjoyed his dish, but stated the lamb was slightly overlooked. The restaurant it's self was pleasant and service was friendly and attentive. They are BYO.

Yelp
Yeap 5 stars! They have 7 locations from Philly to NYC. We ended up going to the one on Mt Airy. It's a cute and quaint restaurant with little decor. Loved the colors, bright red orange on the door and inside restaurant, very inviting. We had little trouble finding parking, give yourself extra time for that. Btw, They have a deal on groupon.com. It's a fantastic deal, not to be missed. The deal consisted of 2 apps, 2 entrees, 1 naan and 2 desserts for $35. For app: * Eggplant chaat: deep fried thin rounds of eggplant topped with yogurt sauce and chaat seasoning. One of the best things I ate that nite. They also provide 3 chutneys on the side; mint, tamarind and pineapple. Great portion. Highly recommended. * Chili chicken: coated chicken prices deep fried, tossed in a soy + chili mixture with bell peppers and onions. It was a good dish but lacked something, little sweetness from brown sugar would've made this stellar. It wasn't as spicy as I would like, very indochinese. Entrees: all the entrees come with a good portion of basmati rice. * lamb chettinaad: South Indian dish, lamb pieces cooked in coconut milk and spices. Very aromatic. I loved the curry, tasted amazing. * chicken tikka masala: one of my favorite dishes but the chicken was little dry here. I think they use chicken breast instead of dark meats. Thighs would be the best pick for this recipe. Again, loved the curry. * Malai Kofta: dumplings made with ground chickpeas and spices, cooked in yogurt curry goodness. OMG, it's sooo good! Dessert: gulab jamun or rice pudding. Wish they had more choices. We went for gulab Jamun: gulab jamun (translated as Rose berry) are a staple in Indian parties and gatherings. Dough made of chickpea flour, deep fried and dunked in a sugar syrup flavored with Rose water, cardomom, cloves and other aromatics. They are served warm but I love them cold. Soo freaking good. Like my fellow yelpers have stated, the prices here are above normal but the groupon did help a lot. Thanks Tiffin for an amazing meal. I'll def be back.

Nicole S.

Yelp
Really disappointed in their service lately. We've ordered delivery from them and the last 3 times, we've had to wait over an hour past the ETA. Today was my final straw with them. Placed order ahead of time for a 7pm delivery. Tried to call and get an update, they didn't answer. It took us calling for over 30 minutes to finally get ahold of someone to find out they forgot about our order. small portions & expensive but the good food kept us coming back but after this 3rd horror of dealing with their unorganized service we are done!!!!
google avatar

Lara S.

Yelp
It's pretty good food, at an affordable price. The people who run it are really nice. The food is consistently good. It's not super posh food, but it is good quality food, and very flavorful. Also, it's never overly greasy!
google avatar

Yelp
I've never been to India, but I imagine that it's hot, crowded and a bit noisy. This pretty much sums up the physical experience I had tonight at Tiffin - but I'm not sure if it will always be like this, as it just opened a few days ago and anyone dining there in the next few weeks will surely feel their growing pains. While the space is colorful and cute, it's also super, super tiny - which explains why we had to wait on the sidewalk outside for about 40 minutes for a table. Once we were seated, we waited about another 10 minutes for menus - but man, were they prompt in refilling those water glasses! Luckily it's a BYO, so we cracked open the Riesling (note: bring a screw top bottle or your own opener. You could be waiting a while) and waited. And waited. And then waited a little bit more. But when the food did come, it was very good, as I suspected it would be after reading all the glorious other Northern Liberties Tiffin reviews. The Navrattan Korma was deliciously creamy, the Chicken Tikka Masala was not too spicy and apparently the lamb was "tender and earthy" (I'm not a lamb eater, so this is a direct quote from one who is). If they get some air condition in there and speed up the service, I can see this place being 5 stars all the way. So stay tuned..and maybe take advantage of the takeout option for now.

Yelp
Good food that's delivered! What more do you need? I first had this at a friend's place. A week later I was home, hungry, and lazy so I went online and va-va-va-boom the food is in my belly...well not that fast but u get the point. Dishes are especially spicy to me but then again I likes it spicccaeee. Would recommend to others will make this my indian spot until I find something better and closer. I am changing the rating to a 3 (from a 4)- They are good for convenience but as for the taste I came to realize that the meat items aren't soo tasty. The sauce lacks actual flavor/salt. It's like eating with Ms. Dash..the spices have an accent on the dish but no actual flavor. Kinda disappointed toward the end of my meal(week..since I ordered enough food so i didn't have to cook that week) since I ordered a few dishes...I frequently had to add salt which I've never had to do with indian food. Prob won't be ordering from here for a whileeeeee.

Yelp
Miriam has moved to the pretty little hamlet of mt. airy. The best part of her move is she is closer to center city and she is so close to this little cafe. I have had tiffin delivery from northern liberties several times. However, eating in the restaurant is a treat. We had to wait quite a bit, it was a friday night, but it was fun to watch that lady get drunk and the table of teenagers. I was quite impressed with all the choices of beverages from India in glass bottles! Along with lassi's and the like. We shared aloo gobi and butter chicken. The rice was divine and the naan so fine. I heart tiffin!
google avatar

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Inconsistent. Tonight was told there was no delivery person and so ordered from another restaurant only to have a delivery person from Tiffin show up 30 min later.

Yelp
DO ONE THING: Ek Kaam Kar! I wanted to take time to give this restaurant a review as I only usually write reviews if I had an incredibly good experience or an incredibly bad one. I have been coming here for a while and had written a review but it seems to have gotten lost. Let me say this I love everything about the place. The restaurant is not good, it is exquisite. There is an equal balance of simplicity and elegance that makes for the perfect climate of any restaurant. These descriptions are demonstrated by the employees and staff, the design and layout, the menu and food, and the owners and diners. You can come in dressed up on that perfect date or in a tea-shirt and jeans if you want to come in for a relaxed bite. What I will say about this restaurant is this. They put great care into making the diners feel at home. When you come here you are not just a customer, but I do believe you are family. I really do enjoy the owners and the staff especially because they will go out of their way to make you a happy diner. As far as cleanliness there are many restaurants that I wouldn't feel comfortable in but this one is beyond that. Not only are they clean, but I have never encountered a problem with the logistics and layout of the place either. I promise you that you will not be let down if you stop in here. If you haven't tried Indian cuisine because it is too "hot and spicy", you must give them a try as they will ensure your meal is spicy to your liking. They have a great selection of juices. I am particularly fond of the Lychee juice. While I am on the subject of beverages, I will state that if you are "ask nicely" and make a request for a free refill of Hot Masala (Tea) they will do so (but don't let too many know about this.) Please come to this moderately priced restaurant. You won't be let down. Outstanding, Impressive, Memorable and Tasty!

Yelp
I thought there food was very delicious! I am pretty picky about Indian food, but their tikka masala was definitely tasty.
google avatar

Rachel B.

Yelp
I have only ever ordered take-out from this location, but it is consistently delicious. People may say it's "catering to Western palates" and blah blah, but bottom line, it hits the spot every single time. My go-to order is the Shrimp Tikka Masala with Peshawari naan with almond, coconut, pistachio, and cashew. The prices are steep, I will admit that, but I can usually eat one entree over two meals. The wait times can be long as hell, but the staff are friendly and apologetic. They're definitely doing the best they can with the amount of orders they have coming through. Great for a quick Indian fix, I'll be back time and time again!
google avatar

Sandra S.

Yelp
They are efficient, the food is very good and fresh.

Julia K.

Yelp
Just left Tiffin with two of my girlfriends and I've got to say it was absolutely delicious. The servings are very large and the rice is unlimited! I'm stuffed and even have leftovers for lunch. The waitress was very friendly and checked on us multiple times during our meal and made sure everything was to our liking. After our meal she asked us what we liked the best and when we shared our favorite sauce she went back and got me and my friends each a little to go container of the sauce! It was a great first experience. I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Ellie B.

Yelp
Delicious and affordable food. The service is fast and they deliver. What more can you ask for? I'm a fan of the Chana Masala and Malai Kofta.
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
Tiffin is a wonderful Indian restaurant to have in your hood. This small Philadelphia chain has a fine outpost in Mount Airy. It's small and friendly and most importantly serves excellent Indian food from many regions of the Indian sub-continent. Two of my favorite starters here are Onion Bhaji originally from the north of India and Cauliflower Bezule which hails from Mangalore in the south of India. Both are lightly fried and both very tasty. I especially love the lamb dishes at Tiffin (the meat is of good quality) and again you can choose to go south or north. Lamb Chettinad from the Tamil region of the sub-continent would be my top southern choice while Lamb Roganjosh originating all the way in the north in Kashmir (with lots of Persian influences) is my favorite northern lamb dish. Oh and if you only want the more standard Indian foods, Tiffin has you covered there as well. The prices of Tiffin are slightly above your typical Philadelphia Indian restaurant but the quality is also there. Hey and it is BYOB which is always thumbs up!
google avatar

Janet D.

Yelp
We have only had pick up. Everything is authentic and delicious. Don't try above medium for spicy for your first try. This is a go to pick up spot. The cashew curry chicken is excellent.

Yelp
This was one of the most frustrating dining experiences I have ever had. I totally understand that vegan and gluten-free food can sometimes be difficult to comprehend. But, when the menu has vegan and gluten-free designations on it, and then you attempt to verify those designations and are told "It's vegan except for a little cream added to the base sauces" and "It's gluten-free except for a little all purpose flour added to the batter" and "Oh, I guess the chef added some paneer to your dish. It's only a couple pieces, though. You can just pick it out, right?" you start to question your sanity and the miscommunication. My group had to have all of our meals redone because one was ordered as medium spicy but was super spicy to the point of inedible and the other two dishes were requested to be vegan but had paneer in them. The dishes themselves were enjoyable, but nothing life changing for Indian food. I ordered the Onion Bjahi and Vegetable Chettinad. The server was so clueless that when I asked specifically for vegan Chettinad with vegetables, she asked, "with chicken?" The server was very nice, but the miscommunication and confusion was pretty much impossible. On another note, my water was only refilled when I was able to wave the server down and ask for more water and we did not receive any comp on our check for messing up our orders so bad. I can say with complete confidence I will never be dining at Tiffin again. Also, note to the restaurant, please change the designations on your menu if they are incorrect!!
google avatar

Kelly G.

Yelp
We had the garlic naan, chicken Korma, and aloo Gobi (cauliflower & potato) We also had a divine samosa appetizer. Perfect lunch on a damp, dreary day. Can't wait to go back...it's as good as everyone says it is.
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
I would spend more time bashing this place if it hadn't just taken 2 hours to get my dinner. Now I'm out of time to discuss the rudeness of the person who answered the phone when I called to inquire after 90 minutes. I can't share how the food arrived barely warm, and with little semblance of any flavor that might have once existed. I decided to order Tiffin delivery instead of my favorite Mt. Airy standby of Jyoti. I thought I would save a little time and still have good food. I have never been more wrong.
google avatar

Daniel Q.

Yelp
I have always loved indian food and always enjoy eating here and ordering from here. I wish the price was a little lower, but I understand that people need to make money. That's capitalism.

LL G.

Yelp
Tiffin's food is delicious, intricately spiced, and consistent. The owners are nice people and they manage the restaurant well. They will accommodate vegan diets off the main menu - dairy free channa saag, for instance - and the new Chaat Factory menu is completely vegan! It's true delivery be slow, but they are often super busy and honestly, there aren't that many good restaurants in Mount Airy. I really don't get all the bad reviews. Tiffin is a treasure for the neighborhood and they can do heat if you want it.

Stephen D.

Yelp
I made it very clear that I was vegan, but my food had paneer. Months later, I ordered something different that they said could be vegan hoping my previous experience was a one time oversight. Surprise - it had paneer! Never again.
google avatar

Scott H.

Yelp
My wife and I order from here at least once or twice a month. We have not been to other Tiffin restaurants, but as far as chains go, we feel pretty confident in the quality of the food. Our typical is the Saturday Night Special. There are a few options, but we tend to get ours with vegetable samosa, saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, and garlic naan. The flavors are on point, but the spice is not always consistent. Usually it ends up on the hotter side, which is ok with me, but not always with her. I also recommend the peshwari naan!
google avatar

Mary-Kate F.

Yelp
So so so yummy!!! Very large portions, friendly and helpful staff, lots of different naans to try! Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

Yelp
I have not been to the original location, but if I believed in karma I'd would have to assume that it was mostly good, but had done something wrong at some point in its life. The now incarnation is just a little too small, a little too hot, a little too long of a wait for the table, menus and food. I felt a little like someone forgot to tell me I was participating in a nonviolent resistance sit-in. But man, I did like the food. Spicy, creamy, and complex dishes that made me feel like donning a pith helmet, taking over the subcontinent to start a trading company. They are a BYOB, and luckily we brought a screw top, I think that with the wait for everything else you might want to do the same. The deco is the colors of curry, tamarind, and turmeric. The staff is harried, but attentive. And I will be visiting as often as possible.

Yelp
MY REVIEW WAS DELETED! I just added it again. It's from november 9th. What's wrong with telling the TRUTH?? It's so gross it can't be known??? We were eating at home (take out) until my husband spitted because he felt something crispy...in a lamb plate with nothing crunchy, and there it was...A ROACH!! I'M NEVER EATING HERE AGAIN Let's see how long it takes them to delete them again.

Yelp
I gave them ONE star and would give HALF if I could due to their customer service or shall I say LACK THEREOF. I'm new to the Mt. Airy neighborhood and love Indian food. The location I'm specifically speaking of is the one on 7105 Elm St. I ordered delivery service from them before and I was pleased; the food was pretty good, not amazing or anything but worth the price. The delivery service, within an hour which is the usual. No complaints there. However, last night 12/19, I was extremely hungry, hadn't eaten all day and I was in the mood for Indian. Really excited, I called and placed my order at 6:23 pm. 7:33 came and went and no food. At 7:44 I call them to find out where my food is. At this point, I'm about to eat my own arm because I'm so hungry! The guy on the phone who was pretty rude and abrupt plus I could barely understand a damn thing he was saying tells me that the driver should be there and that he would call to find out....I then get a call from the driver stating that it MIGHT (key word being MIGHT) be another 20 to 30 minutes before I get my food. WHAT?!?!?! I then decided to call Tiffin back and let the guy know that his driver just told me I have to wait another 20 to 30 minutes and asked If they are going to give me a discount? At this point, I would be getting my food after 8 pm and I'm STARVING!!! If i would have known that, I would have ordered from somewhere else. So, Mr. Rude/Abrupt guy basically tells me he's gonna cancel my order. ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!? I just sat here and waited patiently for food for almost TWO HOURS and you tell me that instead of giving me some sort of discount for my wait and for customer service purpose you rather CANCEL my ORDER?!?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!? You would much rather lose a customer and get negative word of mouth than to have some customer service practice to let your client know you appreciate their patience and their business- REPEAT BUSINESS at that! So Mr. Rude/Abrupt guy would NOT give me any sort of discount . Told me to either wait the 20-30 minutes or to cancel the order. That is CRAZY! I chose to NOT give them my business since they do not deserve it since they could care less if they lost a Client anyway. I'm involved in the customer service industry and that is NOT how you treat your Clients. It's very very sad. I will NO LONGER eat here. It's the PRINCIPLE and I will certainly BLAST them out on yelp and will make sure NO ONE I know wastes their money or time with them. The worst part is that they STILL charged my card. Yep, sure did. So now I have to call because when I did call earlier the "Manager" was on break. RIDICULOUS!

Yelp
I'm sorry. There I said it. I was once a hater of Indian food until I ate at Tiffin. The space is small - only a couple tables, but it's usually pretty bumpin' in there. Have eaten in twice. Service is ok, but how come the food takes so long??? Give me my chicken tikka masala now!!! It's probably just my impatience and hunger that makes the wait seem just that long. Both times I've been there has been a steady stream of people picking up their orders. They all seem so happy carrying out their bags full of all that goodness. The Germantown location seems kind of random, but there's plenty of street parking right out front and the food is great.
