We visited on a Saturday lunch buffet. First of all anytime you go for a fresh plate there are at least more than one item empty. They had total 14 entrees including desert. The Lamb curry was the worst with heavy gamey flavor and 60% bone on it. I didn't able to take picture of the salad because it was empty. The buffet price is $17.95. which is unreasonably high compared to the food quality and quantity. Sometimes you have to request to fill the food pan , and then they will fill. Being an Indian, I can tell you one thing that this is not the quality of food served in restaurants back in India. This is the most inferior quality of food I have ever experienced in my life. I am sorry but I can't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Honestly, I expected so much better from what I have heard from others. I had a terrible experience. The food was terrible. It was overall very bland and not flavorful. We went in a group for the lunch buffet and the buffet was not stocked very well. The food tasted cheap. The tandoori chicken was dry and cooked improperly. The dosa was dry and also undercooked; it was rubbery and too spongy. The butter chicken they had out in the buffet was basically all bones with very little meat. The chicken biryani had a good amount of spice, but I feel like the spice masked the flavor. The mango juice was very sugary and tasted like synthetic bottled mango juice. The dessert was bland and not tasty at all. The food overall was not good; not authentic tasting. The quality was terrible. Overall I would not recommend this place. Much better places to eat nearby. You can tell this place was cutting corners and being cheap with their food and servings to save money. Even the food we ordered off the menu was not good. There is a full bar. Service was alright. Parking is a nightmare.

A friend and I stopped in for dinner and enjoyed ourselves and had great food! The service was a little slow, at times we tried flagging down the staff to get our check and they wouldn't look up from whatever task they were doing. That being said, the food and atmosphere we're good and I'd have no reservations about returning here again!

Highly recommend Vegetarian Thali (pan fried wheat bread with 6 different veggie saaks/medleys that you can eat with) and a Mulligatawny Soup (I believe it's a chicken and lentil soup). The meal also includes pickled turmeric and olive along with 3 deep fried sweet onion balls. The saaks include: -cauliflower/peas/carrots -yogurt/cucumber/chives (very similar to tzatziki) -lentil soup -palak paneer (spinach/cubed cheese) -channa masala (chick peas in red cream sauce) -sweet rice pudding $22 for the Vehetarian Thali. Very good flavors and spice. it was also packed very neatly without any spillage. Flaws: only one piece undercooked/soggy bread, the tzatziki sauce didn't mesh well, and the rice pudding was a little runny. But I'd still give 5 stars because I enjoyed my entire meal with different spices, soothing, and sweet flavors to satisfy my palate.

Some of the most flavorful Indian food I've ever had, especially considering the price! And the staff were kind and attentive :) The buffet is so worth it!

Food was ok. We went in for lunch buffett , it has a variety of veggi dishes including pakoras. Chicken qorma and mutton salan were ok.service was outstanding.buffett was good for the price.

The food was quite ordinary, nothing to write home about. The fried baby corn was soggy and not crispy at all. The vegetables in the sabzi biriyani seemed to have come out of a packet of frozen veggies. But the prices were definitely something to write home about. Totally not worth it.

Food is good. We did not eat the buffet we were told by many that the buffet is not good. We had jafferize something it was delicious. It was spicy and amazing. We had jade and pearl and dal makhani. The dal makhani was good and a great comb with jafferize. I also had the shahi paratha and it was amazing. Food was amazing! Except the buffet. My dad had that and I tried the gulab jamon and it was rubber so we did dessert somewhere else.

Nice service, quite clean, and good food. We ordered masala rava dosa and curd rice, both were pretty good. I've had better dosa, chutney, and sambar--but this place is still very good if you are craving dosa. I think tweaking their sambar and chutney recipe, and fermenting their dosa batter longer would make them excellent. Devon street needs more good Indian vegetarian options so I'm happy this place is here.

Dosas are one of my favorite foods and the paper masala dosa here is so crispy and delicious. The service is a bit slow, which is not a dealbreaker for me. I want to try other things on their menu, so much of it does sound yummy. The decor is simple, a good neighborhood joint on Devon.

Very spicy and bad food. Tasteless most of it and bad for your stomach. Only order Dosa which is semi decent. Rest is worst in Chicago

Ordered a bunch of dosai and uttapam to share. Overall, pretty legit spot. You get a lot of options for fillings. Personally liked the uttapam texture with the green chilis as well as the paper thin (dosai? Not sure but the one on the photo) that we ordered with onions. This was great. Apparently made from a different type of flour (millet I think). Paper thin and extra crisp. Very more-ish. Overall, a decent spot for dosai etc in Chicago. It won't be the best ever, but it's pretty legit and decent especially for Chicago (defo don't compare with other cities or with India). Worth checking out if you've never had it or if you're craving for some. Gets the job done.

Basically this is one of the better Indian restaurants, as far as the food, in Chicago. It's not just even including the vegetarian ones. Udupi Palace is one of the many restaurants in Devon Avenue and their specialty is South Indian vegetarian. Meaning there's lots of spicy items. The usual things like dosas are here, along with sides such as idly, vada, and more. After having just one dosa, I get stuffed, because these are that big. If wondering which of these to get, just get any one. The whole menu is vegetarian. Come at lunch to get a special. It's $16 for any dosa or any uttapam, and these come with either idly or vada. Each of these comes with coconut chutney and sambar. The dosas are the best things here I think. Last time I had the Masala Dosa. The rest of the menu is worth exploring too. An uttapam is like a thicker dosa. This one has toppings on it though. About the only complaint here is a big one. Bad service. A long wait for a menu. Then they never refill water. Eating spicy food one can't wait around to get it. They need to pick up the pace. For sure I would like to rate it higher. It has some pretty slow service though. Those willing to put up with this will be rewarded with good Indian food approved for vegans and vegetarians.

I am a vegetarian and this is one of my favorite restaurants in the area, I love how they offer a selection of Indian/Chinese fusion dishes. Particularly, their Manchurian cauliflower is flavorful and plentiful. Their Malikofta is also rich and delicious.

Wonderful service and delicious food highly recommend!!!! Loved the dosa get the butter paneer so yummy

I was running errands after work, and had a stop on Devon. I was across the street from Udupi and decided to pop in and get a couple of Samosas to go. I didn't order anything else, and it is a good thing. The order was ready in less than five minutes and it smelled so good. There were the two biggest Samosas I've ever seen, and they came with Cilantro Chutney and Tamarind Chutney. The Samosas were unbelievable, without a doubt the best Samosas I've ever had. Fresh, not greasy,or oily, nice light pastry which was tender and and had nice little air bubbles. But the filling ... oh, my, it was the best Samosa on the planet! Nice peas, perfectly cooked potatoes, carrots and corn. An amazing combo? I had planned on eating one, but instead ate both for dinner. I'm happy and as I've got to return to Devon Avenue early next week, ill also return to Udupi Palace.

This may be my favorite restaurant in town! Cooked with care. Flavors that come alive. They specialize in South Indian cuisine such as the dosas, which are a grand presentation...but their take on the north Indian dishes is quite unique and excellent as well. For instance, they have the best flavor of paneer makhani in town in my personal taste. I've been making my way through the menu for a few years and will continue to do so. I feel that this restaurant deserves some credit for the quality putting out there. I have met either the owner or head manager in the past during the excellent buffet service, who is very kind as well. Here's to many more meals from Udupi Palace!

NEVER visit this restaurant!! This was the utmost disastrous experience I ever had at an Indian restaurant on Devon Avenue. We went in on Saturday afternoon. There were two tables occupied by the time we ordered. Food: We ordered floating idly, masala Dosa and dahi vada. - The Dahi Vada was the disaster of my life. A ready to eat Vada in simple yogurt that was refrigerated to a stone cold was served with no toppings on it. The Vada pieces were as hard as stone. - Then comes the dosa.. the dosa had no issues but the dippings - chutney and sambar were worse than the worst nightmarish lentil soup that you could ever imagine. It had no salt, no spice, no taste. Restaurant Cleanliness: - Then coming to the neatness of the restaurant itself, the floor was sticky as if someone just vomited and the crew just cleaned the floor. The restroom was a nightmare. - The manager said he had no idea that there was a Yelp promotion they were running for the Yelp customers on their first check-in. Maybe it's time to simply remove the restaurant from Yelp recommendations itself.

Mixed feelings: inconclusive On the one hand, we had a good korma, one not drowning in cream, and therefore maybe the best korma ever, and some fresh bread, and attentive service. On the other hand, the bhendi (okra) dish was oily and it was very likely reheated. Spices were good, but it was unappetizing as a whole. Service, while very on top of things, gave us an uncomfortable feeling: too many servers for the number of tables there. I might give it another try, but I was slightly disappointed on our first visit.

Great all vegetarian Indian spot, the dosas and bhaturas are amazing here. Service is quick and it's a relatively large dining room. It can get busy but it's worth the wait

The food here is outstanding and the decor elegant. I ordered the Royal Thali to taste a Variety of dishes. Every thing was excellent. the food arrived quickly and all the hot dishes were served piping hot. First came out the Rasam Soup lovely and sour and spicy. Then a the appetizers all crisp and served with excellent chutneys, the mint was my favorite. The presentation of the Royal Thali which was served next was elegant. The palak was my favorite it was light and fluffy/creamy in texture and had a wonderfully savory flavor. The papadum was so nice and crisp it was a joy to eat even by itself. The service was prompt and kind. I ordered some take out to take home for my wife. The server was careful in taking the order and it was ready just as I was finishing my meal.

It's called udupi cafe - authentic South Indian cuisine. No one speaks any South Indian language. Put on some South Indian songs instead of just Hindi songs in the background. When I brought it up with them they had the attitude of why should anyone know any language but Hindi. I initially was going to give them 5 stars but I didn't like their attitude about this especially in a South Indian restaurant. Keep up the the good dosas. It's a North Indian restaurant serving

Really good service, excellent dosas, but sambhar and chutney are hit or miss. Clean place with availability

Used to be my favorite place for good Southern Indian food, not trying to be fancy but authentic and tasty. Went there last week after a couple of years having not been there: the hostess was cross-border unhappy or mean and dressed like going to the gym, the waiter was not nice, and we found a long black hair in our food, the waiter didn't even attempt to make it right, just brought a replacement dish (as if it was just prepared). Very disappointed. The dosas were good, felt a bit soggy but still good, pepper masala dosa used to be my favorite, was still good. Given the ambiance and the food, the prices felt unreasonably high (even for the mango lassi), can get similar prices in any of the places around them on Devon but with better service and now possibly food.

Food taste was not even close to a real South Indian thali. Quantity especially rice was in a small tiny cup like the curd cup size. It was pricy compared to other places. Ambiance was not that good. Rest room was horrible and servers were not friendly. They're doing business because of new people coming to that area and unknown about the place. I don't think they get repeated customers.

There was a time when this WAS the spot to dine on South Indian vegetarian & dosa specialties. Back then the dosa & chutneys were spot on. Nowadays the dosa is same but the dips and chutneys are watered down. "Nalla illa" Their time has come and gone. Taste is alright enough to give the masses an idea of the flavors they can create but the restaurant is poorly maintained. Also, their servers could use a dose of reality and training, to help them assist customers in a friendly manner. If you aren't South Indian or specific about flavors and textures, it'll do. What happened? Has the ownership changed hands? Restrooms were filthy. There were areas and aspects of dining-in that we found disgusting. With the pandemic still raging on I am sure there are down-times. Those are the best times for management to crack that proverbial whip and get the facility cleaned. Start with the washrooms and work outwards please!

Avoid! This is not even close to the special Karnataka taste we associate Udupi restaurant. We left large plates of the food untouched. Avoid! The prices are 20% more, there is an 18% service charge.

South Indian places are not as common in America so if you're less familiar with Indian food, make sure to get the South Indian dishes featured in the menu instead of the dishes you might have heard of before. The onion rava masala dosai is crispier and thinner than ones I've had in the past, though still delicious. We also got the channa batura - the batura is deep, deep fried so really could not go wrong. The channa that came with it was nice and creamy with some sweet nutmeg notes. And the palak malai kofta, recommended by the waiter when we asked for a curry recommendation, was quite solid and I enjoyed the different textures. All the sauces, pickles, and chutneys that came with the dishes were nice additions that weren't too overpowering. Though only one of us ordered a masala tea, they brought us another on the house as a "companion tea", they said. Overall everyone who worked there was very attentive and kind.

This place is a joke. For people who normally don't have access to Indian food (mid-west dwellers) this may be an ok option. We were from bay area used to much higher standards, we found this place an utter embarrassment and a colossal waste of time and money. Udupi is a south Indian cuisine. This restaurant is run by North Indians who have no idea how to cook or serve south Indian dishes. The prices are exorbitant. Every item we ordered tasted very poor and inauthentic. They have not even done their homework. They serve Pongal with curd & pickle instead of chutney and sambar (jokers!). We ordered south Indian and Punjabi thali. They were almost identical. Poor taste, inauthentic, very high prices and incompetent staff. Thats the story of our Udupi experience. Go to a better place to spend your dollars

Got food to go form this place was okay. Service was terrible, got the rasa vada- its rasam soup with medu vada. Asked for them to be separated since it was a to go order and didn't want the vada to soak up the rasam I was told it's an extra charge. I was confused as to why? The guy in the phone didn't give me a clear answer, instead got rude and said I'll do it this time but it's extra next time. I just wanted to know why? It's the same dish just packed separately I could understand a .50 cent upcharge for extra to go container but no he said I had to order it separately which would come out to be way too much. I'm just upset at the poor service as this is a good place for dosa when not in the burbs but for them to treat me like this is kinda sad. What I asked for is a normal thing in India btw when you get this dish to go they them self's pack it separately. Don't think I'll be going back anytime soon.

Udupi is much better than many of these reviewers are saying and I have no idea what they are talking about. Their uttapam and and dosa are both good and comparable to places in DC and SF although yes they don't have exciting pickle or chutney. The malai kofta are about as good as the dish can get. The service is odd I agree. And the ambiance is lacking. But it's a very tasty restaurant and everyone I bring here enjoy it.

What a disaster. I hate to use time to leave a negative review. I'll start with the positives: they have no problem checking for COVID vaccination cards and the general waiters were nice. That's enough to justify the single star they earned. What didn't go well? We order a menu item and the item was wrong. In some cases, hey, maybe the customer mispoke and got a similar menu item. Some cases are a situation where the waiter misunderstands. I'll argue that it was the latter since the dish we received had ingredients that my guest hates. We communicated this to the manager who went over, and instead tried to tell us this is what we ordered. He shows what his waiter wrote, and we explain, no, that ain't it. He walks away and avoids our table. Time for the check. My guest ate the dish she hated because there was no recourse or offer to even make the dish she wanted, as I would have been willing to pay. Nope. Nothing. The original waiter comes by, we explain the situation and says "well, price of both the dishes are the same" and walked away. Unreal. Way to lose customers over $12!

So excited to have found a new restaurant for family take-out night! Admittedly, some of the dishes were too spicy for our 5 y/o but she loved the masala dosai! We also really enjoyed the korma & aloo gobi masala curries--both were delicious! Looking forward to exploring more of the menu!

I visited this place today and ordered Mysoor Royal Thali. First the food is average and second is the TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!. The waiter suggested(forced) us to order this Thali and told us it comes with choice of dessert and tea or coffee as mentioned in the menu. In the end while we were waiting for our coffee, waiter told us they are out of tea or coffee and instead we can have an extra dessert of our choice. He came with a dessert other than we ordered and informed us this is all they have. Both the waiters were rude not even feeling sorry for the items they were unable to serve. Also we noted that if it's busy, they are biased towards Non-Indian customers and concentrated on taking good care of them. If you are an Indian, please be prepared to get shitty service or take a non-Indian with you.

We felt very welcomed here. The moment we entered, the owner was there to greet us and was very attentive in general. I brought someone here who had never had South Indian food before. He got one of the lunch specials, which included Dal, Channa, Palak, Raita, Aloo Gobi, and 2 types of rice and Naan, and he loved it. I ordered a Masala Dosa, which was delicious, light, and airy. We both decided that we would definitely be back.

Though Husb declined (*cough*refused*) to join me in picking up groceries at Patel Brothers this morning (thanks, NFL), I decided, nonetheless, to surprise him with some takeout for lunch. I figured that even *IF* his Dosa got a bit steamy on the way home and lost its crunch, it would serve him right--just sayin'... Albeit neat and tidy, the interior was decidedly NOT palatial (as the name would suggest). This wasn't off-putting; it could mean that the food here speaks for itself. The gentleman who helped me was very courteous and told me everything would be ready in a prompt 15 minutes (which it was). By the time I got home, I was full on drooling--it all smelled so good. 1) Mysore Masala Dosa: The flavors to me were right on point, and I could tell from spying while waiting that the dosa *would* have been crunchy, had it not taken a half-hour drive back to Pilsen with me. In my opinion, the Coconut Chutney and Sambar served with the Dosa were also good, but Husb thought that they both could have used some more salt. 2) Manchurian Ghobi: Perfect. We both thoroughly enjoyed and give this an A+ 3) Samosa Chaat: Normally, this is one of our favorites (and we don't like to share!), so I ordered two of these. Unfortunately, this move was optimistically premature... The Samosa filling was absolutely delicious, as savory and rich as I like it. I'll also give the benefit of the doubt that the pastry *would* have been crunchy, had we eaten it there. The Chaat, however, was not at all to my taste. Too much tamarind rendered it much too sweet for me; almost reminiscent of a can of Bush's Baked Beans (which I absolutely DESPISE)... Personally, I prefer that this dish be full-on savory and not sweet whatsoever. Given another chance, I'd order their Samosas plain.

Have been here for the first time,I would never recommend this place. Very bad service, bad food, arrogant staff and unhygienic silverware and tAble. We ordered rasam vada, dosa, masala idly and tomato soup. Me being a good cook myself I can easily say that tomato soup was made from the ready made packs we get in store. Masala idly was more like small vadas with some ready made spice sprinkled. Rasam was too spicy and it's not even rasam it's more like sour spicy tamarind water.

Good ambience, food average, service was good. Vada Sambar was ok, nothing exceptional

We came back to Udupi Palace after a long pandemic-induced absence. I'd forgotten how much we love their samosas! We also ordered the Mysore Dosai, which was terrific, and one of the curries with paneer. Service was attentive, the food was delicious, we're happy we returned.

Rasam, Mysore coffee, and appetizer combination platter were amazing and authentic. I found the sambar to be a but blend. The staff provided great service however the overall cleanliness of the place needs great attention, especially during covid.

Had lunch this afternoon 11/9/22. The dosa flour was not fermented, it was like a place of cardboard. The methi vada was tasteless. The manager refused to talk when asked for. Very bad experience.

Great food - however I was met by a rude waiter when I came to pick up my Mother's Day order. Repeatedly asked for my name (rudely) when I kept showing my delivery.com phone receipt with my name. What is management doing about offering basic employee training in customer management? Happy to talk to the owner if he is interested and wants to know what happened:

Excellent food. We came here early evening, starving for not having had lunch or breakfast, and ordered the Special Assortment - came with Medhu Vada, Chilli Pakoda, Mixed Pakoda, Aloo Pakoda, Veggie Cutlet, Aloo Bonda (Batata Vada), and Veggie Samosa. It's enough to fill two people up entirely. In our case, we ordered an extra order of Medhu Vada (coz they are just SO good!). The accompanying sambar, coconut chutney, AMD coriander-mint chutney were all excellent. I've had a mysore masala dosa before from here, and my God, I haven't had a crisper dosa anywhere. What I love most about this place is that they are extremely sweet and hospitable here. Love being here, for a crew of all men, they are incredibly sweet and sensitive people. Needless to say, we didn't leave a crumb! We will continue coming here...don't think I could pass this place without getting some medhu vada.

Four stars for their great South Indian food. However, the last five times I've come in here they've seated me at a certain table, a table that sits right next to a basement stairway. That stairway STINKS like a dishwashing station filled with decaying food. It should be closed all the time - except they're constantly going up and down these stairs. There shouldn't even be a table next to this door *at all*, it smells digusting. Minus one star for this. Also, I notice, for some reason, they seem to serve other people in the restaurant a lot quicker. They lose another star for this. I'm not of South Asian descent, maybe my vibe's a little weird, I dunno. It shouldn't matter that I'm white and not Indian or Pakistani. But after noticing that they consistently seat me by this same foul smelling doorway, and the lack of prioritizing service to a repeat customer who generally tips quite well, I can't help but wonder if they'd rather not serve non-Indians here. Caste system? Racism? I have no idea, but for South Indian cuisine on Devon I now take my business to Hema's Kitchen.

Let me start off with saying that I typically love eating at Udapi Palace. The dosas and customer service are always on point! .....BUT today I had a bad experience. When we sat down at our table, the server brought out two menus. One was for their regular dining menu and the other was for their lunch menu for the day. We each decided to do the "All you can eat" for $20 each. The server said ok but reminded us that "you cannot share" with the "All you can eat" and we told him that's not a problem since we're both doing the "All you can eat" We each ordered 2 dosas and 1 Uthapam. And then when we got the bill, we had been charged individual entree prices. We explained to the uncle who brought the bill that that is incorrect and that we should be paying for the all you can eat rate, $20/person. The uncle said that they don't do "All you can eat" on weekends. They brought out the server who then argued with me saying that he repeated back to us what we ordered, and that they don't do " All you can eat" on weekends. I was pissed, because this server absolutely knew that we were doing the "All you can eat" special because we each told him individually that what we were doing it AND the he also made it a point to remind us that we couldn't share!!! Not once did he tell us we couldn't do "All you can eat" . Also I snapped a picture of the menu (because I knew I would be ordering more than one dosa)---nowhere does it say that this special is only limited to the weekdays. After arguing about this, the Uncle changed the bill to reflect the correct charge, we paid and left. But the experience left us with a bad taste Take home message.....this is usually a great place to eat great dosas, and customer service is usually great. We had a bad experience today because our server was not attentive and not the best. Hopefully you won't get the same guy. Mysore Masala Dosa and Onion Rava Masala dosa are my favorite.

First time trying Indian food. The buffet area was very clean. Would definitely go back. Great customer service

For those that are not familiar, Udipi, is a quintessential South Indian vegetarian restaurant and inherently South Indian food is quite different from North Indian in terms of how it looks, tastes and/or is prepared. But fret not, since Udipi also has some of the traditional North Indian food on the menu. Some of their staples include Idli (steamed puffed rice dumpling) served with a lentil soup (sambhar) and coconut chutney. It's a hearty and healthy appetizer or breakfast food. If you wanted a little unhealthy then try the vada since that's a fried alternative. In addition Dosa is the main component which is a thin rice crepe prepared with little oil to make it crispy. There are several different variations of the dosa on the menu including different fillings which may include, potatoes and green peas, onions, cheese, spinach etc. or a combination of the above. See my pic of the Rava Onion Masala (potato) dosa. It was delicious! Service is excellent and the servers polite.! If you like coffee with milk, definitely try the Madras filter coffee.

Udipi restaurants in India are one of the supreme representatives of South Indian delicacies and we entered this place with a lot of expectations. I'm from Minneapolis and was in Chicago for the New Year weekend. Since my wife was feeling little under the weather and we had our lunch already in a different place, we wanted to just order a tomato soup to get her feel better and my cousins ordered filter coffees for themselves. I don't have to stress enough on how much a filter coffee from a South Indian style restaurant is prominent and how much our expectations on this restaurant would have been. One soup and two coffees took their own sweet time to be served. To our utter surprise the soup wasn't hot and had chunks of bread floating on it. Adding to it, the breads weren't even fried fully to look like croutons and quickly turned soggy. Like a sponge on water, the soup was soon absorbed and the bread croutons had become all bigger, hardly giving us any glimpse of the soup beneath it. Like rubbing salt on the wound, the coffee didn't meet our expectations either and was another sour spot that we hit. We called out our host and informed him that we were pretty disappointed with both the orders. While he was apologetic and offered a replacement with a different soup, he defended that the coffee should have been good. Since we were running shot of time, we were not in a position to wait for another 15 or 20 minutes for a soup and decided to pay for what we had(rather not had) and left the place. I certainly hope that the place must have some enticing menu to offer, which we didn't try our hands on, but to us get back to this place for a dining will definitely take some time.

This place is pretty good. This was only my second time eating South Indian food and I was pleased. I could be convinced to eat more South Indian food! We got a lot of dosas. Overall I thought they were tasty. I wasn't a huge fan of the cheese one. The cheese one tasted way too american for my liking. I did like the palak one and the masala one. Those seemed more like curries stuffed in a dosa. There was this yellow rice with tomatoes and I really liked this one. There was a nice toasty element to the dish. I will get this next time. The masala chai was okay. It was not as flavorful as some of the other chais I've had.

I always end up here when I go to Devon. Haven't branched out because it's a nice family ambience with really good traditional food to learn about so it's hard to not go back! :)

Ordinary food with one of the worst services. No one cares if you are seated and are ready to give orders. I did see couple of tables wherein people came in and left due to lack of service, there is no one to talk to. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone..the management doesn't seem to care as it gets its customers(mostly 1 time I hope) primarily due to its location!!

Decent Indian cuisine. We had their lunch buffet which had a variety of dishes from appetizers to desserts. Their curry was great and really enjoyed the dessert too!

You really cannot go wrong with Udupi. It's great food, great service and low key ambience. The hospitality of this place is very courteous - the older gentlemen who work here every time I have visited have always welcomed everyone who walks in as if they are inviting their house guest. It's actually rare to find that kind of warmth nowadays. And the service throughout your visit is on point. Order on time, food arrives on time and everything is straightforward from the moment you enter to the moment you leave. The feel of the place is slightly old school but in the best possible way. The place can accommodate 1 person to a large party. There aren't any embellishments or anything extra in terms of decor. You get what you see. The same applies too their food. The food is fresh, tasty and light on your tummy. P.S - I particularly love their lemon rice. It's light, great flavor and lemony without it being tangy.

The food quality can be much better. South Indian food for which udipi is known was not great. Sambhar was specially not upto the mark. The thali menu was also not interesting.

Amazing Indian veggie fare. I had a cauliflower + potato dish and a veggie patty. Everything was amazing. The chutney sauce was tremendous. The mango lassi was superb. I rate Udupi aa a top 3 Devon resto. I'll be taking out food 2-3x a week. Top 7 du monde resto.

This place was ok at best. I got a mysore masala dosa and the masala was very bland and did not have much spice to it. Also, the sambar was watery and not flavorful. I also ordered a masala chai which was just a normal chai and lacked any spices to warrant being a "masala chai." I think their store in the suburbs was a lot better than this one.
