Where to Eat and Drink Near the Sacramento Convention Center | Eater SF

"At this industrial, two-story restaurant splashed with neon, dim sum-style carts roll through with eclectic bites and cocktails all night long. It’s supposed to feel like perpetual happy hour, with the likes of pickled deviled eggs and ambitious cocktails luring you to hang out a little while longer." - Janelle Bitker

My buddy and I had the best time ever at the Tiger. Off the chart fun!!! Hats off to Mike at the Tiger. He was super cool and made us feel extremely welcomed and as though we were VIP. I can't say enough about the place and the people (both employees and patrons). Everyone was just super chill and fun.

LOVE Tiger! Discovered Tiger five years ago when I first moved to Sac and it remains one of my favorite go to spots. The staff is friendly and welcoming, food is delicious, and music is always on point. Check it out for happy hour, dinner (such a great value for a multi course meal), drinks, and/or a night out and dancing!

Google
Great food great service. Walked right in without a reservation on New Year’s Eve. For cocktail I highly recommend the cold fashion. Old fashion with a cold brew coffee taste. All good was delicious. Half chicken not pictured was delicious

Decided to give this place another try and I have no complaints. The food was delicious, drinks well mixed and service, special. Whoever books the entertainment does an amazing job. Can’t wait for the next dinner and show.

Went here last night with a group of four for dinner and we were immediately greeted with amazing energy and warmth from the staff upstairs. The ambiance is lovely with a cool vibe throughout. Live music was really good, we loved the band that played and the food was really nice. Our host even surprised us with a round of rosé as we were celebrating my newlywed sister and brother-in-law. The only constructive expressions I have is 1. for the lady who took our orders at the table: smile! Everyone else were very pleasant and smiling but she seemed to not want to be there. 2. When the night transitioned into DJ/ club we were told we could stay and sit anywhere we’d like but went I came back from the restroom my sister told me we got kicked out from one of the only tables they didn’t take down as it was “VIP”. Sour ending to an otherwise great experience.

Google
An amazing experience! Loved the vibe at Tiger. An eclectic mix of people and music, a live band and a DJ! What a relaxing yet stimulating dinner atmosphere. Even better was the food, flavorful, beautiful and filling. Can’t wait to return with new friends !

Back in 2006 there was nothing like this in Sacramento neighborhood. And now I am so happy that tiger bar has come to support local artists in the hip hop genre as well as current days create a space for hip hop dance battles to happen in the public eye.

Google
Rip off prices for drinks. Too bright of lighting for a club that it feels like day time. Don’t go here unless you like throwing money in the garbage. Bartenders are also rude.

Yelp
Best vibes, great staff, and they have great tasting food now too! The Lumpia was amazing ! Must try!

Yelp
Not worth the hype--cost too high for the vibe Went to Tiger Lounge on a Friday night expecting a fun night out, but the experience was frustrating from the start. We were made to form a line outside, which is fine if the place is packed--but when I asked if there was a cover charge, the doorman wouldn't give a straight answer. Instead, they just told us to scan a QR code to find out. Honestly, I hate relying on my phone when I go out. A night at the club is supposed to be about living in the moment--not worrying about your phone dying just to figure out basic pricing info! Turns out the cover charge was $20 at 10 PM, and once we got inside, there were maybe 30 people total--definitely not the packed, high-energy crowd I expected. Ordered two margaritas, and somehow our total came out to $60--so within 10 minutes, we had already spent $100 for two people. For that price, I was hoping for an unforgettable experience, but the music was just okay, the vibe was blah, and the space looks way bigger online than it actually is. Honestly, Tiger Lounge has potential, but the prices are way too high for what they offer. If they want to charge premium prices, they need to deliver premium energy--better music, better drinks, and a packed, lively crowd. As it stands, I wouldn't go back.

Yelp
I was trying to keep this matter private and reported directly to the managers of Tiger, but got ignored so now I'm making a review on behalf of my brother who attended the club multiple weekends in June 2025. There is an unfair female bartender who is rude and overcharging people who don't tip her. Story: I've always recommended Tiger to friends and family, but recent experiences have raised serious concerns about the consistency of service and staff professionalism. During a recent visit, my brother tried to get a drink from the female bartender, but she had a noticeably rude and dismissive attitude from the start. Due to her poor demeanor, he chose to be served by the male bartender instead, who was polite and helpful. Later that night, when the male bartender was unavailable, my brother ended up being served by the same female bartender. Because of her prior attitude, he decided not to leave a tip. In response, she noticeably changed his bill, charging $40 for two house shots, which was clearly not the correct price for watered down tequila. He was able to get the male bartender's attention again, who confirmed that the charge was inaccurate and refunded one of the drinks, even stating that her actions were out of line. The following week, my brother returned and unfortunately encountered the same bartender. Although he intended not to tip her again due to the previous weekend's experience, she charged him $16 for a single house shot instead this time. When he refused to pay and walked away, he was ultimately removed from the club. That same night, another member of our group was charged $30 for a single Hennessy shot, which seems excessive and inconsistent with usual pricing of bar drinks. I'm sharing this because I genuinely enjoy Tiger and want to continue supporting the business. However, if this is reflective of how staff are trained to treat paying customers, especially those we bring in through word-of-mouth, we'll be reconsidering where we choose to spend our time and money.

Yelp
Went for a "brunch" event lmaoo, there was just bar food that you can only eat if you happen to find seating somewhere. Weird way to advertise for brunch .. if there's no place to eat lol

Yelp
Tiger is definitely more a Club than a Lounge. The vibes on the weekend are always poppin off so unless your vip or a regular the wait is kinda long. The shrimp plate was sooo good we love the friend rice and every time we come here we get the Lumpia fries!! Those lumpia are soo good especially when ur drunk and hungry from all that dancing. The drink prices are not too crazy the only thing is the DJs!!! There's usually 3 DJs a night and I swear they still play the same 4 songs for each set which gets old... plz playMORE hot girl music like Megan thee Stallion or Doja Cat and LESS Sexy Red and Ice spice it's old very quickly.

Yelp
Tiger is a Sacramento staple as strange as this sounds. Tiger reminds me of old Sacramento downtown but with a modern twist. Tiger is for those, who like to dance, because this is definitely the spot to do that downtown. I would recommend coming here on a Thursday night. At 11pm on Thursdays, there is a local dance crew that comes through and has dance battle. There is a cover is you arrive after 10pm. Tiger is filled with instagram worthy backgrounds for cute photo-ops for everyone! The drinks cost about $12, which aren't too expensive. The menu drinks are good but I highly recommend that you defer to the bartenders. Their drinks are tailored to each person and I think bette than the other drinks.

Yelp
Would have been 4 stars if it wasn't for the long line. Atmosphere and music were fantastic. Drinks pretty reasonable price also. Saturday night was super busy but the line seemed to drag without grabbing the vip access.

Yelp
Came for the three-course Dine Downtown Menu ($45/p) on Saturday, January 13th. I was able to snag a 7:15 PM reservation on the same day, woot! Upon arrival, the place wasn't very busy - mostly diners and regulars. I know this place pops off late-night on the weekends. Cool that little old Sac has some nightlife. I got seated in a half booth table. Opted to both sit on the booth side and look out at the downstairs area. There are huge concrete walls filled with graffiti, think I read somewhere that they left the walls as is after renovating the rest of the previous derelict building - neat. There is also a giant menu projected onto one of the main walls, although it is hard to make out the actual text. Ordered a few IPAs, wasn't blown away by the cocktail offerings. Service was attentive but the kitchen was behind and working out some kinks. The poor table next to use waited 30 mins btwn their first and second course. Clearly some communication breakdown, I felt bad for them. My first course was a significant wait but the next two course came back to back and it was smooth sailing. The kitchen hit it's groove. All of the courses were exceptional combinations for flavors and textures. First Course - Truffle Edamame - delicious, lots of umami from the mushroom dashi. The truffle didn't come through too strongly. The edamame filling was plentiful. Second Course - Surf & Turf - seared scallop, short-rib, oyster demi glace, dashi butternut squash puree, charred leeks. Side of tempura-style fried broccolini. Tender short rib and plump scallop. Both paired well with the squash, leek and broccolini. Portion didn't look big but it was a surprising amount of food. Third Course - Salted Egg Yolk Bread Pudding - this was a little too charred, still good though.

Yelp
The service with jr was amazing! Would definitely come back. He was super nice and made our whole night go so smoothly

Yelp
Tiger!! 2nd time coming here, the first time was for a YEE event. Stopped in Wednesday night after going to the Kings game. I got to say this seems like a spot I would have loved in my 20's. Now... not really my place. It was pretty dead besides for a few random tables that had bottle service. I had the "Light the Beam" drink. It was good but a little too sugary for me. The service was great. It was really nice to know that the kitchen was still open after the game so you had the option to order food if you wanted to. It's a cute bar that was all decked out in Christmas lights. I think if you wanted to super drink or dance this would be the place.

Yelp
Security guards need an ego check. You don't have to be rude and disrespectful while doing your job. It's about basic human decency. You'd think they are actually men of status with how pretentious they act, but no; they are nothing more than bouncers that like to manhandle sober women as though it's a right within their pay grade.

Yelp
Such a delayed review. Came here for Happy hour after coming for a dine downtown event and was pleasantly surprised. Being honest the food at my previous visit did not leave me a desire to return but I am glad I did. The vibe was there, the service was stellar and the food was really good. Our order: -Fried rice which was so good and well seasoned -Fried chicken also well seasoned and crispy -Half off bottle of wine YES PLEASE!! Definitely worth a try at their happy hour pricing

Yelp
we came for the lovely Mimi meet and greet and they denied access even though on Google maps in the description it says all ages welcome all religion welcome all types of people welcome when we asked if all ages are welcome with the meet and greet the staff rolled their eyes and said get out of here you children and they denied access to us We did not come to play around. We came to meet lovely Mimi out of one out of 10 I rate the service of one mainly because of how rude the staff was.

Yelp
We love jr he is so nice and made our night go so Smooth! Will def come back and hope to see him again

Yelp
This place is a lot of things. I always see it as a nightclub with lovely young people having a great time, and a place I'd never go to. I went for their dinner and comedy show and I had a great time. I wasn't sure what the scene would be but the service was quick, it came with a welcome drink, and I loved the shrimp A LOT. I would definitely do the dinner and show again. I can't imagine I'll ever go to the nightclub, but I appreciate that they have a variety of events and try new things.

Yelp
On a girl's night out, our second stop was Tiger Restaurant and Lounge. We just came in for a drink or two, but they were having a private music event in the lounge area so we were confined to the upstairs bar. We didn't try any food, so this review cannot speak to that, but I was absolutely blown away by the prices of our drinks. We do still live in Sacramento, correct?! It was over $20 for cocktail (standard Moscow Mule). Maybe I have been out of the bar scene for a while but the last time I paid $20 or more for a cocktail was in Las Vegas or New York City. I never would have expected these types of prices in downtown Sacramento. The prices will definitely make me think twice before coming back

Yelp
REDEMPTION It's not very often you find businesses willing to go above and beyond to right a previously wrong experience. Tiger was exceptional in hearing and validating my experience as a customer. That love if service will make a loyal and faithful customer, every time. Thank you for a lovely evening filled with great food, great music, and a fun atmosphere. I'm looking forward to returning.

Yelp
Went for the @sacbookandsip reading event. Bar service was okay, bartender was a bit short with me despite having just started the bar service. Drinks were delicious tho so I can't knock em too hard

Yelp
Following some competitive bowling at Capitol Bowl (please reference my review if interested), our group wanted to grab some adult beverages. After discussing a few options, we settled on Tiger Restaurant and Lounge. Prior to that day, I have been to Tiger as it was transitioning into it's nightclub vibe. Therefore, I was looking forward to experiencing the establishment during the late afternoon. Fortunately, our friends whom arrived first, were able to secure seating at the booths located at the entrance. A very enthusiastically server by the name of JK, greeted us and took our drink orders as he provided us with waters (he would continue to refill our waters throughout our visit). I highlight the fact that he provided us with waters because it seems like you have to pull teeth at some places to receive a glass of water. Of course, as most folks know (some learn the hard way), it's prudent to consume a sufficient amount of water while drinking alcoholic beverages (I promise you that I'm not intending to sound judgmental of those who do not). Throughout our time at Tiger I consumed two very delicious drinks. "The Beam"...a purple (Go Lakers!) Margarita with 50 Cent's Branson Cognac (GGGGUNIT!), and the "Mai Tiger"...both drinks were recommended by JK. We enjoyed the overall vibes at Tiger, especially the music selection that was at the perfect volume for you to groove to it while still being able to hear conversation. If you're looking for good vibes + drinks, I highly recommend Tiger Restaurant and Lounge!

Yelp
I got sprayed in the face with some bleach as they were cleaning the table tops. No concerns for any guests,
google avatar

Yelp
I purchased 8 tickets for friends to attend this event. The menu was not what I paid for. The original menu had foil wrapped chicken and an ice cream cone for dessert. As the courses began to come out, they were clearly different than what I purchased. I asked to speak with the manager who completely dismissed my concern of having a more expensive protein being substituted for rice, as non problematic. I will be reporting this as fraud with my cc company. This is a clear case of bait and switch. You don't get to advertise one thing, and I purchase based on that advertisement and then you give me something completely different. That does not stand for a disgruntled consumer.
google avatar

Kirstin S.

Yelp
Most of the employees are extremely rude and unwelcoming, and pretty much make it seem as if they don't want business at all. There was this one chick at the bar who got loud with my partner for no reason. Drinks were mid and pricey. The overall atmosphere was off and I'd much rather take a chance on another club in the area than this place.
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
Terrible. Just terrible. Ambiance and music was definitely not in sync. I dont know why this place has lines out the door. They let underage people in here somehow even though i went through the same security gate as everyone else... or so I thought.
google avatar

Joneice B.

Yelp
Came here for 7 game Kings v. Warriors. Faith is a sweet manager. Very nice atmosphere. Sound system was good. Plenty of bathrooms on the lower level. Food options were limited during our time. Our food took a while to come out but when it did...the wings were good. The fried rice was good but I would ask for my egg scrambled next time. Pull-a-part bread was good but hard to share because one big chunk. For drinks...we got El Gato Margarita and they were delicious and strong.

Isabella P.

Yelp
3 gin and tonics will cost you close to 60 dollars. Creepy dudes just standing everywhere and staring at you the whole time. No one really even dances, I guess it might be hit or miss but I've gone to this club 7 times and only had a fun night once. The energy is dark and it feels like everyone is there to get on some cheeks. Staff is really nice at least, bartenders are pretty fast, but overall vibe and environment of the club is a flop.
google avatar

Mo H.

Yelp
I want to love this place, but it always disappoint us! First time we went here the security held up the line so it would hit 11PM so it would force us to pay to get in.. but we ended up leaving after waiting for almost an hr! It wasn't event busy. Bad taste in our mouths. So we tried this place again.. We came tonight. We rolled in 20 people deep.. Music tonight was NOT good. no one wanted to stay. Bobble head to these Bay Area music.. not even dance music. No one was moving besides the DJ! We left before the next DJ played. Hopefully he was better. Last time we went there was a girl playing and she was great! What happened?? This place is hyped with a bunch of tiny boppers who think they're Influencers. Lol. We can't with this place anymore.

Jaleel G.

Yelp
I had fun at Tigers, atmosphere was fun and drinks were good! would come back here for sure Lexi is awesome, sweet personality and able to talk too!

Yelp
Hello, I must say this is a gr eat place all around. The club is Poppin. The food and drinks are excellent even there Friday night show and dinner was great. Service was great as well The food was really good. This is the young crowd, but it is a great place to come hang. Come and check it out for yourself
google avatar

Velia M.

Yelp
Such a fun place!!! Great food and drinks, and love the vibe. Although it's two stories, and the music makes you want to dance the night away, the lounge part can be warm and intimate. The service has been wonderful!

Jessica R.

Yelp
Ally and Alexis are outstanding bar tenders. They are the life of this bar! Come visit and ask for them.

Janice A.

Yelp
Came here for the first time about a month ago for Yelp Elite Squad event and had a blast! I made some new friends and three of us made back to this place to try again as customers. Food and drinks were awesome and great vibe! We had a dozen of their happy hour oysters , egg fried rice, tacos and chicken wings. Great food and company
google avatar

Candi R.

Yelp
First time here.. The food is definitely unique ... They have live banned then a DJ afterwards. It's definitely a very popular place. The food we ordered was the onion soup that was very full of flavor. We also ordered noodles that were different with a lot of greens no meat. It was unique never the less it was so tasteful. Lemon drops were very light on the liquor. The portions were small.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
I went here for happy hour before a Kings game since they had posted their new light the beam cocktail on Instagram. The cocktail itself was really good and the $6 deal for that week's happy hour was even better. I've gone to Tiger before for cocktails and music but have never tried their food items. My boyfriend and I decided to order the birria tacos, wings, and oysters to share. The oysters were a $1 each for happy hour so we got 10, and they were great. The wings came in an order of 3, whole wings, and were very crispy. The birria tacos came in an order of 2. They were not very good compared to taco trucks that specialize in birria tacos, and for the price they were not worth it. Service was good and our food and drinks came out promptly. Will definitely be going back for oysters and cocktails.

Jonavan F.

Yelp
I have heard such good things but sadly... The music SUCKS ! Omg i expected so much better but the dj was remixing some random ahh songs ??? And the good songs he played... HE REMIXED TF OUT OF THOSE ? Like Pls ? Omg ... and then it took us 40 mins to order a drink at the bar because the bartender was too busy dancing n feeling himself like pls sir do that on ur break, he was making the drinks so effing slow. Also we got there at 10:30 and got in at 11 but that line takes a MINUTE to move. Beware ... Crazy.. we were only there for an hour n dipped
google avatar

Melody R.

Yelp
So, this place has had ups and downs in thr past but holy batman, they did great this time! Got oysters, a Fist Kiss, and the Oyster Mushroom PoBoy that were ! But the service made it. Our server, Junior needs to be voted for Best in Sac! Not only was he polite, knowledgeable, and had all the steps of service on point, he assisted in making choices that did NOT disappoint. I made the decision to go back and met Alex and Santiago. What a great decision, they too were professional and knowledgeable as well, plus, gella funny. Thank you Tiger - I will be back tomorrow!!!!
google avatar

Casey S.

Yelp
I'm going to review this place a bit differently than normal because it had a couple of positives, along with a laundry list of negatives. Likes: -Individual glass water bottles -Live music -Easy enough ordering system through phones Dislikes: -Green fried tomato eggs benedict was only on half an English muffin and it was extremely subpar. This was honestly the worst eggs benedict I've ever consumed, none of the individual flavors worked together and the hollandaise sauce was honestly unpalatable. -Strawberry puree for mimosas was not overly pleasant for drinking either. -Only one bathroom stall in the women's bathroom had the ability to lock. - I still like interacting with bartenders, waiters, and servers so the inability to ask for recommendations or get refills in a timely fashion wasn't really possible with the phone-only ordering system. In the future, I would come for a drink or two while socializing but overall I didn't enjoy the food on my own plate or my husband's and ultimately ended up eating somewhere else after.
google avatar

Charlie B.

Yelp
My wife and I went to Sac town for a full day of eating and drinking ourselves into a big, fat stupor. Tiger was our first stop for a late brunch... and a rather lackluster start to the festivities. We got a decanter of Strawberry Mimosa to split between us, and while the sparkling wine was quite nice, the strawberry puree pulp left a... sludge?... floating atop the drink that was not very palatable. It wasn't disgusting or anything, but now that we've ordered a strawberry mimosa, we likely won't ever again. They had a very handy ordering system through your phone and I sent in for the extra crispy chicken and waffles while my wife got the eggs benedict. My chicken was absolutely not crispy... not even a little, although it was quite tasty. I also never considered having sliced jalapeno's with my waffles, but it is absolutely something I'll do in the future as the combination worked remarkably well. It IS spicy though, for anyone who might be a bit meek with their heat. The Eggs Benedict, however, was very off-putting. I couldn't tell you exactly what it was, but the texture was sickly and the hollandaise was... gross. My wife didn't go past a second bite. I finished it mostly because it was over $10 for a half English muffin and single egg. But... never again, and I cannot steer people away from ordering that, enough. The service was sparse, but ultimately if we wanted anything else, we just needed to send an order in on our phone. So that's understandable. My wife used the bathroom and said it reminded her of a dive bar back in Wyoming. The stalls didn't shut properly and there was virtually no privacy. There was a live DJ playing and I think I commented like 10 times how I was digging his playlist. The vibe here is certainly on the level. Ultimately, the impression we got was this is an evening place when you're looking to hit the club and want some decent food while you're there. But, if you're looking for real quality food and cocktails, it may be a bit hit or miss. And if you want a clean, safe bathroom, definitely don't come here.
google avatar

Jason G.

Yelp
Food was fairly nice, cocktails were great, atmosphere was kind of fun, but extremely cold and warehouse-ish. Very strange that the bathroom stalls do not have doors.
google avatar

Audrey N.

Yelp
This place..10/10. The staff was beyond friendly, the bouncers were kind and even helped me out on my wrist band. My friends and I had SO much fun at the event/place. The live band & the atmosphere, awesome! Chefs kiss Thanks for a fun experience, will be coming again!

Daniel V.

Yelp
OMG! This place was awesome! My wife and I had dinner plans that fell through. So we found Tiger at the last minute and I'm glad we did! The staff couldn't have been nicer and sat us immediately! The music and atmosphere was on point the whole evening. Now the food! We had the wings, fried rice and grill cheese and they were so good! Besides that, if you are in love with McDonald's fries, you found the spot! I don't know if they put crack in them or something, but didn't care! They were bomb! If you're near DOCO, make this your stop. You won't be disappointed

Yelp
To Adam (The Owner) and his entire "Brunch in The Square" staff... thank you for a fun first time visit last Sunday! Can't wait for the next event! If y'all don't know... here's what up! Tiger hosts brunch on the weekends which includes bomb.com entrees from steak & eggs to their famous, famous cream cheese french toast! Basically everything on the menu is worth trying. That's the basic truth. The overall vibe is crackin' from the DJ playing throwbacks and mashups to just being outside on a sunny crisp, Sunday Funday afternoon. No cover to get in, just a positive attitude and a face mask, of course! I would highly recommend this gig for a group of friends or even a day date spot. If you're lucky the super chill, owner Adam might make a guest appearance! Come check this out while it's around, now until February. "Brunch in the Square" Saturday and Sunday's from 12:00-4pm.

Yelp
My favorite place to go to for a fun and casual vibe! Vonna is so kind and ensures the safety of everyone thus why she's always in the front hehe. She's become a friend and from the moment you step through the door, she's so inviting! JR is a lovely host who is always generous and creates an amazing atmosphere for everyone to enjoy! Not enough great things to say :)

Yelp
Probably the worst club in Sacramento. In my opinion. A few of my friends and I went Saturday night for the first time. Lines were extremely long with security who were rudest I've ever had experience with. Off the jump we had signed up for their guest list and my friends are allowed in but for some reason they cut me off and charge me for entry. I didn't question it as I was excited to just celebrate my friend's birthday. The ambiance and decor was nicely done. And the layout was decent but with so many people it was difficult to enjoy the moment. Much of the crowd was shoving and pushing just to get in and out. Tiger as a whole is poorly ventilated and quickly gets hotter the deeper you walk in. Drinks are pretty mid a lot of ice and juice. Dj was meh transitions were off you'd have a better experience with Spotify playlist and an Ai dj. The only quality of this place is the food. My friends and I stayed for a few hours trying to see any redeeming qualities but found none so we left and enjoyed the night elsewhere. PERSONALLY WILL NEVER RETURN.

Yelp
We were very surprised by this place! We were hoping to eat next door but the line was too long so we came to Tiger. It was around 7pm before a concert so there were some larger parties but not too packed. We sat at the bar and the service was great. We had the wings, tequila fried shrimp, the bread with cheese, and bao buns. Everything was delicious. The bartender was very nice and went out of his way to get us the bread w/ cheese when it had sold out.

Yelp
Came to visit a friend in Sacramento. We made reservations for this restaurant. We were greeted right away when we walked in. The staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered drinks and they were interesting. I ordered the Lavender drink and it was delicious. We started with oysters and dumplings for appetizers and it was good. Then we ordered the broccoli and beef, and cauliflower steak, it was okay.

Yelp
I'll give it 3 stars because our server was wonderful . Thank you ally. My chicken wings were medium rare at best. And when I brought it to their attention they told me it was because it was "con fit" ... I've had con fit before, I have cooked con fit myself....... This was under cooked chicken. They didn't take it off my check or apologize for it. But she did offer to remake it.. no thank you . The place is cool inside .. I would just eat before next time.
