Long review ahead. Yes they serve Italian food.
I went back and forth a lot, I really wanted to give this place 4 stars but I couldn’t. Let me tell you why.
The restaurant is located inside a mall type building with other small bites and food options for students at GW University. This isn’t a problem until you look more into what this restaurant is about.
The price does NOT match the atmosphere at all, $26 for chicken parmesan and $20+ for a prosciutto pizza was not acceptable in my opinion. The amount of pasta we received was so little it was embarrassing. The prosciutto had very little taste and the sauce was too watery and bland. The pizza wasn’t that hot considering, and I’m assuming- it came out of a brick oven?
Additionally for marinated olives it cost $5 and for $8 you get “bread and butter”. These are prices I would pay for an authentic sit down Italian restaurant with an ambiance that makes you feel you are not in the middle of a mall.
Is the location of the restaurant the problem? No. It’s the price that they push forward is.
Dessert was OKAY, the cannoli was deconstructed (they do not mention this FYI). It was over-fried and the filling was little bitter and lacked sweetness. Tiramisu was compact, beautiful, and tasty. It could do for a stronger coffee taste however.
Lastly, without being told there is a 20% service charge (I’m not sure if this is for all bills or a bill over certain price, but it would have been nice to know).
Ok now for the things that I liked.
The food was served relatively quick and the service wasn’t bad in any way. The food was good but not for the price point and ambiance. The menu was simple which is nice but between picking only 3 pastas and 3 pizzas I would expect that they would be phenomenal.
I attached pictures for reference, I also see this is a newer restaurant so I do wish them the best of luck. I think with a few changes, like better description of the menu, and improved ambiance there is room to grow.
