The Best Coffee Shops in Burlington, Vermont | Eater Montreal

"This tiny shop changed ownership in 2017 but has maintained its cozy digs. Stop here for a classic cappuccino or mix it up with an oat milk, turmeric, and cinnamon matcha latte." - Heather Platt

I moved to Europe but I still think about this coffee daily (which is why I’m writing this review three years after moving.) I used to work nearby and myself and my coworkers all raved about it. The maple cold brew tastes amazing and always gave me the perfect amount of energy, plus the owner is very nice and friendly.

Cozy coffee shop right in the heart of Burlington, VT. The cafe is warm and relaxed with simply delicious coffee served by friendly staff.

Wanted to try a new place for espresso since this town has a bunch of good options. It's a grab and go place which is fine with me. Got a regular latte and it was ok in taste. Plus no latte art, not even microfoam, but larger bubbles. If you want the traditional espresso bar experience and IMO a more flavorful espresso for 25 cents more, just go across the street. However, if you want grab and go there's nothing wrong with Tight Squeeze.

My maple latte and rooibos latte were absolutely delicious and very well made. There is very little seating and honestly its kind of cold inside, and the barista was loudly watching TV before and after making the drinks which I didn’t love. Overall, really good place to grab a delicious drink and skedaddle.

Wow! This place did not let us down. The service was fast and coffee was delicious. I got the honey cinnamon latte which was tasty and my husband got the tight squeeze coffee with espresso. You know the coffee is good when you don’t need to “fix it” to your taste! Highly recommend.

Located in the heart of Burlington, this is the perfect place to grab a coffee while enjoying your walk down the waterfront. The owner is very sweet, helpful, and if you’re lucky you might also meet her adorable little helper in the front! She sources her coffee locally so they’re super fresh with the right amount of caffeine.

Got a delicious iced honey cinnamon latte with Oat Milk! Partner got iced coffee with mocha..He said it tasted like chocolate chip cookies, which he enjoyed. Tiny spot downtown as you walk toward the lake. Definitely a nice grab and go type of place. Would return!

Google
No Wi-Fi and very limited seating (two tables in the corridor outside). The barista played multiple soap opera-esque videos very loudly while I was trying to work at one of the tables, to the point that I had to leave. Plus there isn’t really heating at the tables so it’s chilly to sit there. Good place for grab and go, terrible place to sit and work.

Yelp
Get the CHAI! Our friend gave us a list of places we had to visit while in town and a chai tea latte at the Tight Squeeze was on that list! The shop itself is teenie tiny but the girl behind the counter was very nice and the chai certainly does not disappoint! I legit guzzled the entire thing in less than 2 min. I just couldn't put it down! Add it to your list & tell your friends because this shit is legit!

Yelp
Small little place. The barista was super sweet. Her dog was there with her. The coffee was too sweet for my liking

Yelp
Got a great cup of coffee here just before driving up to Montreal. The owner is very nice!

Yelp
Fabulous tiny coffee shop... every drink feels special and tastes delicious... my go tos are dirty chai and honey cinnamon lattes

Yelp
Love this cute little shop! Service was good- we ordered the two specialty coffees, one being a cinnamon situation that ended up being more of a cinnamon challenge (minus one star for this, but we are the ones who ordered it so it's not fair). The other latte was really good!

Yelp
Waited about 20 minutes for the best coffee I have had in a long time! Sounds like hyperbole but it's not....the woman who prepared our mocha latte and maple latte did a superb job. Worth the wait.

Yelp
Awesome coffee and treat from Barrio Bakery! Worthy of 5 stars, but the price value brings it down to 4 stars. A latte (12oz I think) is $4.25, plus $0.75 for a milk alternative (soy). The ham & Swiss croissant from Bsrrio Bakery is $5.00. While not cheap, both are awesome! They also sell apples for $1.50 and bags of chips for $2.50. I'll probably walk to City Market for these items. I'll still come here, but more as a splurge.

Yelp
My friend and I tried this place with hopes of finding a hidden gem. We both got iced white mocha lattes and were horrified to see one ice cube per drink. Within the first sip to our horror soggy bits of whites chocolate floated within the drink. A taste like plastic covered our tongues. Neither of us drank more than a couple sips. I have a hunch it was the drink we ordered that let us down. I wouldn't go here again.

Yelp
Excellent coffee - cold brew was delicious. The owner was very friendly and there was a nice selection of pastries. It's tiny inside - don't let that scare you - if there is a line it's worth the wait!

Yelp
I was mildly confused when I came here (it's literally a tight squeeze), but I really enjoyed my coffee! The person in there was super sweet, and my drink? Yum. I didn't try any pastries so I can't tell y'all anything about that, but I really loved it here and it was a different experience than the big name chains where I'm from.

Yelp
Best coffee I had while I was in Burlington (and I tried a lot), definitely hit this place up. They have cold brew, espresso, and a lot of cool latte options. The roasting company they use sells online as well in case you aren't from the area and want to get your fix at home.

Yelp
Love that it is named "Tight Squeeze" and in a tight space. Very cute set-up! Do not come in expecting to sit down, but nice stop-in while walking, esp. on a rainy day like today. Unfortunately, prices are a bit high for what you are purchasing; there is a lot of competition in the area beating this place; and my plain hot chocolate tasted like apples for some odd reason... so I don't recommend that drink. Stop in sometime and maybe try a coffee or a latte, though. It's cute. Worth a stop... maybe you'll love it.

Yelp
Great space for coffee. Lisa and Matt are amazing. We have many choices for coffee in Burlington, and have tried most of them, this is the best.

Yelp
I'm visiting from California and I had seen this place online and thought I need to check it out! I'm so glad I did. Super cute small establishment. I got an iced latte and it was smooth and delicious!!! The barista was also very helpful with local activities and suggestions. If you're in Burlington, check this place out!

Yelp
Great coffee, but terrible hours. A coffee shop closed on Sunday? We just took a special trip to get some coffee from this joint and were very disappointed.

Yelp
Awesome little coffee shop. Great espresso and espresso drinks, delicious local treats, and friendly barista. Will definitely go back!

Yelp
Great little coffee shop. I usually get iced vanilla latte's. They have a good selection and earlier in the day they have great pastries. Takes cash and cards.

Yelp
This is the best coffee stop in Burlington. Tight Squeeze serves consistently excellent hot and cold coffee drinks. I've never had a better cold brew and the green tea latte is amazing. Everything I've tried is incredible. This place is a gem and has yet to be beat.

Yelp
This place, The Tight Squeeze was amazing!!! I normally don't like coffee but the Tight Squeeze was like heaven in coffee form. Each drink of it made me happy to be alive and I dream about this place at night. 10/10

Yelp
Found this amazing little hideaway cafe a couple of days ago and thought I'd give them a try. I wound up with the best cold brew coffee I've had in as long as I can remember! the owners are super sweet and very knowledgeable trio, which is nice.

Yelp
This is not a coffee shop that you can hang out in. It's called Tight Squeeze for a reason. But, the coffee is excellent here. Very easy to get in and out of. Quick, friendly service. And very interesting coffees. Try the Maple Latte, Dirty Chai Latte or Pumpkin Chai Latte. Mmmmm...

Yelp
The name says it all. Tiny place with big coffee taste! My only issue would be the food offerings. We stopped in for coffee and a quick morning bite; beverages were terrific but the pastries were limited and didn't taste fresh.

Erin M.

Yelp
Fabulous coffee. Really unique menu and a great alternative to chain coffee stores (with what I feel are comparable prices). The barista took her time creating each beverage, and was knowledgeable about the business as well as the ingredients...AND the city of Burlington!

Yelp
Perfect little coffee shop! I ordered Mayan Hot Chocolate one day, and Espresso the next. Both were fantastic, with friendly, fast service. I have nothing bad to say about these guys.

Ed G.

Yelp
If you want to support the local economy and are tired of sending your money "to the northwest", and if you want better quality at competitive prices along with personal service, you need to patronize this shop. Excellent.

Yelp
Every once in a while, I run in to someone here in Burlington who has the rare ability make an 'epic' cappuccino. I had that experience this morning at Tight Squeeze. There were no superfluous questions like "what size" or "what type of milk". It was a double shot of amazing espresso, organic whole milk, in an 8-ounce cup, perfectly executed and artfully delivered. Thank you. This stop is not on my short daily commute, but this coffee is definitely worth going out of my way for.

Nate N.

Yelp
Best dirty chai in the area. I've been to a lot of places trying dirty chai's and nothing compares.

D D.

Yelp
Literally tucked into a quiet corner of this nice building on College just down from Church Street Mall. Well composed espresso drinks served with a smile. Probably my favourite cappuccino in Burlington.

Mollie B.

Yelp
Best cup of coffee we've had in a while!! Not like the usual American watery and light coffee. Super deep and rich taste. Very cute space with an excellent cuppa Joe!
