Where to Find the Best Vegan Tacos in Portland, Oregon | Eater Portland

"Although Tight Tacos’ Instagram feed is mostly dominated by giant burrito cross sections, the tacos, served on soft, hand-pressed tortillas, are still a major attraction at the Portland outposts at the Zipper and on Division. Out of the meatless fillings, the soy chorizo and cleverly named Impastor — adobo-marinated cauliflower instead of pork — pack the most flavor. Tacos are topped with plenty of minced onions and cilantro, but customers can add on a mountain of guacamole too." - Waz Wu

Portland Mexican Spot Tight Tacos Will Take Over the Kitchen at Thirsty Monk - Eater Portland

"Tight Tacos, known for its tacos, burritos, and nachos, is moving from food carts to a restaurant setting by taking over the kitchen at Thirsty Monk brewpub. This change comes after their carts at Growler’s Taproom had to vacate due to the taproom's closure. The collaboration was initiated by Thirsty Monk CEO Barry Bialik and Tight Tacos owner Mark Cosio. The new menu will mainly consist of Tight Tacos' popular items with potential new additions." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Google
i was eating at the zipper and ordered the carnitas bowl and a side of chips - everything was served at just barely above room temperature so i asked them to heat it up and they said they didn't have any way to heat it up (?). chips also cold and a little stale. cut the roof of my mouth a little. they did give me 4 hot sauces which was nice, but cold and indifferent seems to be the vibe.

Delicious food, and the worst service imaginable. I ordered an asada burrito and chips+guac. Andy, the active manager on duty at the moment, served my burrito alongside my fiance's burrito. She went to grab them, and then asked for the chips and guac I ordered. Andy, the active manager on duty, told her that he already gave us the food we ordered. She said that no, he hadn't given us the chips and guac. He argued, again saying that he already served it to us. I got up and walked over and told him that had not gotten the guac. He again argued. At this point, obviously irritated, I asked him to come out and check our table to confirm we had not received the chips and guac. His response, instead of admitting his failure and blatantly rude behavior, was to tell me he could not provide the service I was requesting. Utterly confused and irritated, I challenged him asking why he could not give me the food I ordered. He told me he would just have to refund me. I dont know if he refunded me for the whole order, or just the chips and guac he refused to give me because he did not provide any receipt or confirmation. I wanted to eat guac with my burrito, so my meal was not provided as ordered. To the owner, your employee is refusing to serve the food your customers are ordering. I was not hostile. I used no foul language. I had an irritated tone because when I asked for the food I ordered, his response was to tell me I already got it... which was false. Just terrible. Zero accountability. Im never coming back.

Google
I ordered the nachos with no guac. The counter person asked if cheese and crema were still okay, and I said yes. When my food was ready, I noticed it had guac, and said, "I ordered no guac." I asked them to remove it (it was right on top) but they insisted on remaking the entire dish. Fine. The remake has guac on it. I said, "I asked for no guac?" Then, the counter person started to argue with me and told me they had asked me if guac was okay at the beginning. No, they asked if cheese and crema were okay at the beginning. I understand messing up an order. It has happened to me many times at other places and it is usually no big deal. But being rude to me and gaslighting me about what I did and didn't ask for is unnecessary. I clearly stated no guac, twice. Once at the initial order, and once at the remake. If they just would have taken the guac off the first time (or the second time), there would have been no problem. But this man really had to gaslight me about what I ordered because he didn't want to admit he messed up my order twice.

Google
Tight Tacos has what you call, great street tacos, nothing fancy here, just strait to the point street tacos. Large burritos the kids love, horchata made fresh and they have never run out on us. Seem we can eat here all the time if we could, happy customer server who seem to love what do, which is making happy customers who always return for more.

Google
Bland. I got a grilled veggies hellarito with added black beans, elote, and a horchata. The burrito was enormous but lacked any real flavor. There was a bit of flavor from the nacho cheese sauce, seasoned fries, and a slight grilled taste from the veggies but overall there was just nothing going on. The horchata also lacked much flavor though I appreciated it was laden with sugar or have that slightly thick and slimy feel you get from some horchata. The esquites (elote) was super disappointing. I think they use canned corn (it lacked that crunch that fresh corn has) and it was topped with 2-3 times more mayonnaise and cotija than was necessary and the mayo mix was very acidic which overwhelmed everything else. So I’m still on the lookout for a decent taqueria-style burrito near home.

Google
First of all, their name is hilarious. Secondly, BEST Nacho's in SE, no joke. Food is relatively inexpensive. Not the most authentic but if you love a good Tex-Mex with a bit of that Portland weirdness - this is the spot. 10/10 fav taco joint in town.

Google
Good location.. easy parking.. Food Cart style with open outdoor seating. We ordered a variety of street Taco's.. even the vegan and veggie tacos. All were tasty and the portions of meat was generous. Served with two types of hot sauce. Red or Green..Taco Tuesday with my girl friend.. Restrooms available in the court yard

Google
I asked for no beans and got beans and then asked for extra chips and got told they are garnish. Tell me chips are $2 or something. I don't care. The guy at the counter acts like he has another job he'd rather be at. It's 92 degrees and they spent money on decor, not an ac unit.

Yelp
A solid place to get some quick food when in The Zipper. They have some really tasty nachos that are packed of goodies. I liked that I could order an item from them and then other items from the surrounding area.

Stephanie L.

Yelp
I hate to be a hater but I'm not impressed with the burrito I got. The meat was mid with no flavor. It also tasted like it had American cheese in it. It also came with 12 small chips. ( yes I counted!) the chips were good but next time I'll try the tacos. I spent $17 total on one item
google avatar

Antonio G. F.

Yelp
Had the burrito- lots of extra tortilla. Made it vegan with the Cauliflower- not much flavor in the beans and rice. As a burrito connoisseur this was about a 5/10. They don't do vegan cheese either. Guac was chunky but flavorless. Wife liked her soyrizo taco. Was worth the try but won't be returning.

Yelp
Excellent service and generous sized burrito. Love this restaurant and cooperative seating area. My family were able to get their faves and eat together!

Yelp
I love their birria tacos ($4 each) with consomé ($3.) So yummy. Definitely get the chips($2) with pico ($2 e) guac ($4 e), and nacho cheese ($3 each), too. You know you want to. The horchata is just the right amount of sweetness. Get the Jamaica too. I think everything here is homemade. Anything pork, I suggest on top of a nacho/fry dish. The chips will handle their carnitas/Al pastor best. Very vegan friendly place as well. Charming little candy selection near the register, give it a whirl :)
google avatar

Maro S.

Yelp
Really solid tacos, the consommé was delicious as well, and the chorizo quesataco was so damn good. I had the Impostor and the Birria tacos, my spouse had a pollo burrito and Al Pastor taco.

Howard G.

Yelp
I know eating out has gotten expensive but $18.50 (plus tip) for an average chicken burrito and a bottle of soda simply is not worth it. King Burrito has this place beaten by a mile with much lower prices and bigger portions.
google avatar

Bianca J.

Yelp
These tacos are SO GOOD! I got the pollo hellarito, side of fries (to taste them on they're own and there like beer battered and really good!), side of beans and rice, a side of esquite and quesabirria tacos with consommé. I think everything tasted really good and the chicken in the burrito was marinated, seasoned and delicious! Not just poached and plain tasting. Some of the plates come with a few of their homemade chips and those are seriously some of the best tasting chips I've ever had! The side of rice and beans didn't have much flavor. The esquite was really good I just didn't like that everything was sitting in like a liquid. I Just didn't like the thought of liquid mayo lol but I definitely recommend trying this place. It's kind of confusing to find but it's inside The Zipper next to Basilisk. Parking is limited!

Yelp
This is the first time I had gone into this location and had no idea it was amongst a few other restaurants. Super Duper plan to go and check everyone else out! We did our order online and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes and it was! I am a fan of that. We ordered quite a few items so when I got the bag at pick up, I started to question if they had everything in the bag because it felt super light. They assured me it was all there. I came home and started unpacking and realized that the serving portions were very very small which is why it felt light. The taco sizes were super tiny so I was a little bummed that I didn't order more. But being my first time there, that was my oversight I guess. I will say that for the amount of money we spent for the small small portions I was not a fan of. We ordered some chips and salsa and guacamole. Those were solid and definitely would have again. Between the two of us we ordered Birria tacos, Asada tacos, chicken tacos, and elote. The flavors of all of these were very very good. It came with slices of lime, which I am a fan of. Perfect amount of onions and cilantro. I mean seriously the tacos tasted great. The meats were seasoned well and they were tender. The asada was my least fav of the 3 but still good. I just should've ordered 14 more of the other two kinds! The place looked clean and organized. The staff were all super nice. Parking is a little wonky, but that's Portland, right?

Yelp
3.5 stars. Burrito was fine. Nothing to write home about, nothing to complain about. Unremarkable through and through. Came with four tiny tortilla chips, which somehow feels worse than getting no chips.
google avatar

Yelp
The homemade tortillas are really good and also the chips. My husband has been trying different bowls to find his favorite. I tried three different tacos. I was told the grilled chicken wasn't spicy but I am admittedly a heat wimp and it was too much for me and only took two small bites before I stopped. Husband finished it. I did really enjoy the carnitas and the braised beef tacos both were very moist and didn't find big chunks of fat. Love the venue but would like it if they had a shared water dispenser for all restaurants. The fried chicken place has one.

Yelp
I feel bad giving low reviews, but this was pretty disappointing. Hard to find good tacos that are reasonably priced, and unfortunately this place was average at best. Bf and I decided to try something new, so we came here. Standard fare, I got the Al pastor burrito + guac, he got 2 tacos and asked for a side of guac. My burrito was just fine, but it was pretty stuffed, thankfully. Only downside was the meat being pretty dry. My horchata was also pretty watery and bland. Bfs tacos were fine too, but they mistook his order of a side of guac for a side of guac + chips which was $6? Normally wouldn't care about being given extra of something, but it was $5 more than he would have had to pay. That's a lot for chips + guac. And his michelada was in a 24 oz cup but they serve premade mix and it wasn't even filled all the way. Wasn't stirred either. Not saying the food was bad, but definitely disappointing considering how expensive it was. Oh well, we tried it and didn't love it.

Yelp
Meat eater review: 5/5 My LEAF eater review: 3/5 We decided to drop by Tight Tacos on a random weekday to satisfy my hangry cravings. My omnivore partner grabbed the al pastor, carnitas, and chorizo tacos while I got the impastor and the seasonal veg tacos. We also grabbed some esquites and some thirsty papas (aka nacho fries) to share~ According to my partner, these were the best tacos he's had in Pdx and he highly recommends them for omnivores. My tacos were a bit eh. The impastor one definitely had more flavor but wow the seasonal veg seemed sooo underseasoned and I was slathering both in salsa. Honestly a little bit of a let down. The esquites in one description: LIME AF. Just soooo tangy and acidic which I usually love but this was a little too much lime even for me. The real real real bummer for me were the thirsty papas -- nacho fries which we got topped with soyrizo. I adore fries and order them everywhere we go and these were just so sad and honestly the lowest part of the meal. The toppings were plenty so they definitely did not skimp there, but flavor and taste wise so lacking. The other thing that I found jarring was the price. I know we ordered a lot but I didn't expect to drop quite so much money for what was ordered. I think my overall feel is -- Tight Tacos is great for omnivores and has great intentions with its veggie options though it doesn't quite deliver. If the menu becomes more consistent across the board, this would be higher on the list for me.

Krystee S.

Yelp
I LOVE Tight Tacos! The queso taco is so delicious. I was at the NE Sandy location yesterday and the womyn who took our order was so kind and helpful. I really appreciated the great customer service. The only downside was there seemed to be a Moped group meeting in the dining area and they rudely took up the entire space. Like they filled tables with their helmets and gear and more tables for their cake and snacks. Not sure why they were allowed to take over the entire indoor space when it was raining and cold outside?

Yelp
Great tacos and burritos. I usually do pickup from this place and the service is solid. The zipper location is interesting as it's several restaurants all grouped together with community seating. Overall, some of the best Mexican food you can get in Portland that I have found.

Yvonne F.

Yelp
The first time I tried this place out I wasn't that impressed and wrote them off. But the other day I had a craving for nacho cheese and didn't feel like having Taco Bell, as I wanted something a little less "manufactured" tasting. So, I decided to give Tight Tacos another shot. I ordered the family taco kit and an order of nachos. The family taco kit was a decent deal, although not stellar. I chose the pastor and birria, both of which were tasty, but the pastor was swimming in grease. The kit came with rice and beans as well, with the rice being nothing special and the beans tasting like they came straight from a can. The real star of the meal was the tortilla chips, which were phenomenal. You can tell they're fried fresh in house, and pair perfectly with the nacho cheese heavy nacho toppings. For the family kit, you have the option of having them cook the corn tortillas or cooking at home which I thought was a nice touch. Overall the experience was good, not great, but is for sure on my list if I'm ever craving nacho cheese in the same way again.
google avatar

Kate A.

Yelp
I really loved this spot. The nachos are GREAT (get them with birria!) The tacos were also tasty but definitely not as good as the nachos which is weird because this place is named after tacos...I need to try the burrito next because apparently that's also FIRE. My friend got the bowl and said it was really soupy and liquidity so I'll stay away from that..

Yelp
My last stop on my Taco Tour-day/Tuesday, I wasn't sure what more Tight Tacos could offer. I was wrong. BEST DAMN TORTILLAS IN PORTLAND (I've found so far). The hand pressed corn tortillas are warm, soft, and SOOOOO fluffy. It definitely elevates the Taco game, so shame on anyone who serves a taco in a tortilla that's cold or not properly grilled. Compared to the Pastor Cauliflower taco at Tamale Boy, I liked this one more. It wasn't as heavy on the oil, there was way more cauliflower, and I thought it was more impressive for the similar price. The "Veggie Forever" taco was a total flop. If it didn't have the INCREDIBLE tortilla to elevate it, I wouldn't have taken more than a bite of its completely bland interior. Is it possible to just order the tortillas from Tight Tacos? Because I'm here for it. I'm not kidding when I say I'd eat a tortilla taco...just tortillas wrapped in more of these magical ones they've got at Tight Tacos.
google avatar

Andrew A.

Yelp
I'm one of those who initially winces at the thought of a non-Mexican owned taco business. It's not because of the debatable topic of "cultural appropriation", but rather because the taste often doesn't measure up and price points tend to be high. So I'm not a big fan of Tacovore, Stella Taco, The Taco Pedaler, Por Que No, etc. Well, the prices here are higher than at Mexican-owner hole-in-wall places, BUT the taste is a rockin! The carnitas were the perfect blend of spice, char, and juiciness. The tortillas are one of the best in town (Matt's Tacos also come to mind.) Your taco is complemented by some much better than average chips and garnish and is served on an aesthetically pleasing platter. It makes the higher price points palatable and a better deal than the aforementioned overrated competition. The Keto bowl rocked, it's a definite reorder. Service was friendly, but please tell the kid not to stare after spinning the pay pad (anticipating a tip.)

Yelp
Hi everybody I'm Markie Bell of the Yelps, of SE Portland We don't only Taco But we Keto just as good as we Burrito In Portland, we just started a new Taco Called the Tighten up This is the music we Tighten up with First Tighten up on that Zipper Come on now, Impastor Tighten up on that Asada now Now let that Tinga fall in Tighten up on that Chorizo now Now make it Mexican Everybody can do it now So get to it

Brian W.

Yelp
It's a truly wonderful burrito. The pastor is my favorite protein on a hellarito. The addition of French fries, nacho cheese and sour cream tastes like heaven in a tortilla.

Joe D.

Yelp
I was next door checking out the whiskey bar. Decided to check out the taco stand. Friendly staff. I had an asada taco and a barria taco. They were twice as much as tacos anywhere else so I was excited to try them. They were not great. The asada was hard. The barria was pretty much pulled pork and cilantro that had no cilantro flavor. Meh... Not for me anyways. Nice people though.
google avatar

Elaine T.

Yelp
There is a bunch of tables to relax at while you wait. Some covered and uncovered. All nice and spaced out from each other. I sat at one of the tables near the fire pit and took in the cool atmosphere. My order was finished way faster then I expected which was great of course! I loved how the flavors came together with each bite. You'll most likely feel the urge to order a few more tacos to go like I did. Oh and they also have clean bathrooms if needed.

Jason P.

Yelp
These tacos are loaded with the good stuff. The price is a little high but the quality is there so...I can't complain. My coworkers and I make weekly trips to spoil ourselves with these tacos.
google avatar

Chad S.

Yelp
For me it's all about the carnitas tacos here. Tight is exactly as the name says, then sh*t's is tight! Larger than mission style tacos so you can order less, but they're also big on flavor. Homemade tortillas, house pickled onions and the proteins are on point! I also dig the Nachos, though they're more like their take on Taco Bell's Naxos Bell Grande, but far less likely to leave you hovering over a porcelain throne wishing that late night engulfed had been avoided. I'm the kinda dude that appreciates that so two thumbs up on the nachos too
google avatar

Blanca F.

Yelp
It was my first time going to the zipper and I was excited this place was there, the location was nice. I went with my mom and sister and it was not a great experience. We ordered; esquite, tacos de asada/ al pastor/ birria, Papas de Asada, buñuelos, michelada, topo chico pineapple and a coke. First the food was not worth what we paid for which was sad because the tacos came with hand made tortillas but they were cold and the meats we not flavorful. The esquite was eh the corn was dark . Overall the food presentation was good but taste wise I've had better at cheaper prices. The service I'd say was what put a butter taste in our mouths because the cashier put a topo chico in the michelada and gave us a pineapple jarrito, we were confused why that happened and we tried to correct the situation by telling her what we wanted. She got weird and said well you never said what beer you wanted . . . . We dropped it because we were hoping that the food would help us calm down but it was just disappointing. I will not be returning to this location, it's overpriced for food that's not great.
google avatar

Juan I.

Yelp
Looked better online. The portion size is great, taste could've been better. Tacos needed a little more meat. They charged me $8 for an horchata, that's insane.

Christopher R.

Yelp
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Gentleman names Whit was great. I had 3 tacos: chorizo, carnitas and beef. Also got the birria consommé. All were terrific. Chorizo is usually a let down when I eat out but this was spot on. I will be back for sure and it is not convenient for me...worth the drive
google avatar

Sean L.

Yelp
The food was so excellent. Lots of cheese, packed with flavor. The best part was that the staff were super kind. Especially the guy with tortoise shell glasses. Definitely coming back for their Happy Hour 20% off.
google avatar

Salwa M.

Yelp
The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because the place is a bit overpriced for street style tacos. However, the fresh tortillas are bomb and quality of the food is good!
google avatar

Yelp
Always excellent! I'm obsessed with this place. Love their take on taco shop food. Nice folks working there too.

Yelp
I am a huge fan of tight tacos so I was excited to find out they opened their first brick & mortar. located inside the zipper building, they are within a food hall with about 3-4 other dining options w/ a bar. i was with a friend who got two tacos- one carne asada & one carnitas. i got the bowl w/ chicken. he felt as though the carne asada was lacking, which i tried and would have to agree, something was missing. the carnitas was amazing, as always. i think this is what they do best in terms of protein. the bowl was great although different than i remember.. maybe less veggies or something. it had spanish rice, chicken, onions, cilantro, crema & served with a few chips and pickled onions. it was good and filling and felt overall pretty healthy. maybe a little too much rice? but that might just be me. service was kind as always and you can tell the food is made to order and not just sitting around. i do wish maybe they had more a variety of hot sauces & salsas? with just two options and nothing of a traditional tapatio or valentina or something of that sort i felt i needed a bit more spice. overall the new location is wonderful and i'm sure they'll do great in this spot. i look forward to coming back.

Yelp
Continuing my pursuit of finding Portland's greatest tacos al pastor I had to give Tight Tacos a fair shake. One look at their Instagram page and it is clear that these guys know what they are doing and have a passion for tacos and Mexicali style street food. The main picture Tight Tacos posted some time ago that sucked me in and guaranteed that I would patronize their establishment was a picture of a trompo (or spit) of al pastor. I am only aware of a few taquerias in the area who use a trompo for making pastor, but alas I was a little sad to learn that they only use their trompo on rare occasion. I'll start with what I enjoyed most about the taco. Perhaps the best part of these tacos was the hand made tortillas they came served on. They held together nicely, had a great flavor and texture. Not enough taquerias utilize hand making tortillas but it is one thing that clearly separates the best taquerias from the basic ones. The tortilla from Tight Tacos merits 5 stars. The taco came topped with freshly diced white onions and a conservative portion of cilantro (I love cilantro and would have personally loved much more, but to each their own). Lastly for toppings was the piña- a must for legit tacos al pastor! While I was very happy the tacos came with pineapple, it was kind of disappointing that they chose to use canned pineapple. It made me think, if you're going to go through the labor of love to make tortillas by hand, why not make the extra effort to use fresh pineapple? It could make a world of difference to these tacos in my opinion. Now to the meat of it: the pastor. The pork was quite a bit more spicy/hot than most of the pastor I am accustomed to. I didn't mind the level of heat, but I was not expecting it. So if you have a low threshold for heat, this might not be the pastor you are looking for. I did enjoy it however. There was a very generous portion of meat on every taco, bordering on too much meat. The pork itself was good but a little on the chewy side. I love my pastor a touch more crunchy. The flavor of the pastor marinade came across as a little smoky like ancho chile. I'd give the pastor meat and marinade a solid 3.5 stars. The salsas that came with the tacos were quite tasty, one cup of salsa verde, and one cup of salsa roja. They were both quite tasty with my preference leaning towards the roja, which is odd because I typically prefer verde. All in all, I think there is a lot of potential here. I'd love to try their al pastor prepared on a trompo. I'm not sure however that the al pastor is Tight Tacos crown jewel. Based on their photos, their carnitas looks like they might be the star of the menu. I'll have to give them a shot next time. Portland is very much a carnitas town but I wish more taco carts specialized in al pastor. As far as al pastor in Portland is concerned, Tight Tacos makes a pretty solid offering, but has some work to do to meet the standard I've become accustomed to in Salt Lake City, Southern California, and obviously...Mexico. Lastly, I will say, that while the ingredients were fresh, the tortillas stellar, and the size of the tacos great...$4 per taco is a little steep even for a brick and mortar joint. I'd be a lot more inclined to patronize this taqueria more frequently if the prices were a little more in line with other taquerias in town of equal quality.

Yelp
My friend got a pork carnita bowl and did not enjoy it. I would recommend getting tacos here
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
One of my favorite taco places! The staff are friendly, and the service is fast. I like how flavorful the fillings are, but my favorite part is their super fresh tortillas. They are fluffy, floral, and have great texture. I think anything on those tortillas would be tasty!

S M.

Yelp
We guess the "tight" part of the name refers to how hard it was to open what tasted like canned beans, corn and other ingredients. Raw onion on tacos and overall JUST NOT GOOD. The tortillas are very good, so maybe order 6 of those and enjoy their hot sauce.
google avatar

Yelp
Always had a great time and experience with Tight Tacos, after hearing that they are opening up a solid location other than the current carts they own, I had to stop by and show support! Location is great with many other options and a bar on hand, about 5pm it started to pick up within an hour the zipper location was very busy. Pro tip: come early! 5 stars for me, can't wait to make this a go to during the spring/summer time with the big open area out back! Congrats Tight Tacos on the new location! Can't wait to come visit again!

Yelp
I live close by and order here frequently. Service is always friendly, food is delivered from the kitchen quickly - and when I take my sweet time to come pick up my food, I appreciate they keep it warm in an insulated box. The carnitas are some of the best I've EVER had and that's saying something as I come from LA.

Yelp
O M GGGGG it is absolutely worth the hype ya'll. The Hellarito is devilishly delish. I saw stars!

Yelp
This burrito gives me faith in humanity. How did they manage to squeeze in a somewhat crispy layer of cheese in between layers of delicious tortilla and carnitas? Are those tears of joy in my eyes or was it just the spicy salsa?
google avatar

Taylor K.

Yelp
Paid $8 for FOUR tacos. Only got TWO, Went back to tell them they messed up my order and didn't get my food. And they got a $5 tip from me. I wouldn't come here nor order her online unless your okay with having half of what you paid for. Trash customer service .

Bryan T.

Yelp
Ended up here after an evening show at OMSI. It sits in a cozy food hall with other restaurants serving chicken sandwiches, Korean ramen/fried chicken, and a bar next door. Ordered the Carnitas Hellrito, a carne asada taco, and a horchata. The horchata was delicious --maybe the best I've had in PDX. Taco was stuffed with steak and onions, well worth it. Hellrito is a great meal if you want to stuff yourself with some heavy meat and cheese sauce. Not for every meal, but well worth a cheat day.

Yelp
Amazing experience! I finally had the chance to try the Hellarito with asada and it was fantastic. I also got a hellarita to go, also very delicious. I definitely recommend this spot in Portland.

Yelp
Was feeling desperate for a bite on a Tuesday night, so convinced myself to buy an $11 burrito. To my surprise they decided to use rubber tires for meat opposed to the steak I am used to. Safe to say I won't be buying this shit crust again.

Yelp
Found this place a week before we moved. First experience was AMAZING! The woman at the counter could not have been nicer or more helpful. Went back again based on the food and service. What a mistake! This time there was a different person at the counter - she was RUDE and NASTY and the service was incredibly slow! Now I'm not disappointed that we're leaving the area! Based on the 2nd experience I wouldn't go back. Three stars only because the first experience was so great.

Yelp
Don't get the michelada 7ish dollars for a beer and that 711 michi mix that's like a dollar and that's it. Anyways got the hellarito it's a cali burrito but I guess yk portland. Bf got carnitas burrito was dry so probably don't get that. My sister got a quesataco we thought it came with three but it's was just one :l disappointing especially for the prices of these. Horchata is probably from powder or the premade market version but that's a given. The place it's self was nice there was a bar and ramen to eat when going outside there was a little fire pit. Probably would come check those out next time

Yelp
I recently came to Portland for the first time. This restaurant was directly next door to a place I ate the day before. We decided we would return to the neighborhood to give Tight Tacos a try for lunch. I had a burrito, which was pretty tasty. However, no more than 10 minutes after finishing my meal I had one of the worst stomach aches of my life. No exaggeration. I lost a full day of my vacation and had to spend the entire rest of the day at the hotel. I spent two weeks in Portland and Vancouver... "The food scene in the area really took a nose dive since the beginning of covid. Prices went up and quality went down." -a family friend (who lives in Portland) whose words I didn't believe much until I checked out the city for myself.

Yelp
What a great burrito! Got the standard burrito and the hellarito. Only criticism is the hellarito could of been a bit hotter with the way nacho cheese gets if not hot. But that was the only thing to say. These burritos were a warm hug on a cold day. Chips, salsas, all top notch. Delicious. Absolutely delicious. Will 2000% be back!

Yelp
I hate to leave 3 stars because the food was pretty decent. But, there were a few issues. 1. Zipper Nachos: Carnitas was mostly fatty and inedible. No veggies. Just meat and cheese. 2. Al Pastor and Chorizo tacos: Pretty good but there were no vegetables in them. It was all meat and a sprinkle if onions. Usually there is cabbage or something...at least that is the way I prefer. 3. Housemade hotsauce: They have a red and a green. Both were super mild. When I eat tacos, I want to be able to adjust the spice level and no matter how much of their hot sauce I put, it was not spicy at all. The food was decent, but not great--which is what I now expect in Portland. ;) The food was pretty heavy--a lot of meat, cheese and grease. Now I feel kind of unhealthy after eating there. Next time I will just go to La Taq.
