"Huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, and Mexican omelets — Tijuana’s serves breakfast all day in alongside unique menu items like Mexican pizza. The pizza crust made of a large or mini fried flour tortilla that is topped with beans, cheese, tomato, jalapeño, onion, olives, and choice of meat. Six packs of tacos, burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, flautas, and gorditas are available to-go and the family special includes any two six packs and is served with rice, beans, and salsa combo." - Courtney Burk

Yelp
This hidden diamond near 8 mile road is THE BEST mexican food you will have outside of Mexico. I'm a Texan and telling you this. I started coming to this place when my parents moved to Ann Arbor, MI. My godparents wanted to have family dinner and took us to Tijuana...this was in 2002. I now live in Columbus, Ohio and travel here once a quarter for this restaurant. The favors are so rich, fresh, and DEEP. The salsa is drinkable. You literally don't even need chips. Everything is made from scratch. Someone's grandma is in the back there making this ( Yes, the owners aunt and mom use to work in the kitchen supervising the meals. This is how often I was coming here! Extremely nice family). I have never had a bad meal! My personal favorites or the Mimi Chims and Chicken enchiladas! If You are in Detroit...stop by! You will leave with a smile and ready for a NAP

Yelp
Always delicious fare! The Mexican sandwich is our family favorite and we always order an extra large beans and large rice for sides of our next day's dinner! So so good with any meal!

Yelp
First time ordering at this establishment and I would like to say the food was AMAZING! I ordered the Mexican pizza, tamale, and beef tacos. This is now my favorite Mexican restaurant!

Cindy C.

Yelp
Food is the best I e ever had. They are fast, and the price is good! I won't eat Mexican anywhere else ever again. I highly recommend the Mexican pizza or the deep fried tacos.

Yelp
Loved this place! Food was amazing; good sized portions too. Our waitress was very polite and helpful. It's our new favorite Mexican restaurant.

Yelp
Whoa what a great faboulus experience. The owner in the food business 30 year's had to close a restaurant during Covid and now has stepped up her game. During our dine in at least a hundred meals picked up, phone never stop ringing, a line at the cashier. A most blessed turn around. Her kids all hands on , yes she gotta a few which helps with not being able to find employees. Her catering business is booming and dining room full with happy diners. She never stops running , greeting , cleaning, cashier and helping in kitchen. I will say the quality of the food outrageous Delicious. Started with Queso Fundidio be fun with Cheese you'll see in a photo. Chicken Fajitas spot on. Street Style Tacos couple each Al Pastor w Pineapple n Camarones Shrimp n Spicy Slaw both winners. The classic Mexican Sandwich with Chunky Beef a must try plenty to share. My favorite Mexican Breakfast Chilaquitas absolutely Wowed best ever eaten. A menu of Mexican Breakfast plated up all day long. Fast friendly service on a Tuesday be controlled chaos at this Classic Mexican Town 2.0 location. #tijuanasmexicankitchen @tijuanas_mexican_kitchen #mexicansandwich #chilaquilesverdes #quesofundido #chickenfajitas #tacotuesday #downriverfriendseat #mexicantown2

Yelp
My family and I love this wonderful Mexican restaurant. Some of our favorites include the tacos and their amazing rice. They make their crunchy shells in-house and they're fantastic. The refried beans here also pack a ton of flavor. Hands down my favorite salsa in the area! If you like it, try the HOT variety. The chips are delish, and the salsa is so fresh you'll keep asking for more. My favorite protein here is their chicken. It's incredibly flavorful and filling. Affordable and delicious Mexican food. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This wonderful restaurant hosted a fundraiser Sunday for Downriver For Veterans where they donated all of the proceeds to the organization. Their generosity alone would have have earned them a 4 star review. They get a 5 star because the food was fantastic. Some of the best rice I've ever had! My kids loved the tacos so much they have already asked when we can go back for more. Quality, delicious food and a heart for serving the community? Definitely a business I'll be supporting in the future.

Yelp
I found the place online and decided to stop . When you go into the restaurant it doesn't look like the typical restaurant. It's kind of bland in appearance inside the main dining area . The food though was great . I've been there 2 times now and was impressed with food and drinks both times . The service was a little slow but you could tell they were busy and all bustling around so it wasn't an issue for us . We enjoyed our chips , salsa and drink while we waited to place our order . I will be returning again because there are quite a few items I haven't tried yet and am looking forward to trying the entire menu .

Yelp
When we got here this place was not packed and we were seated right away, I was actually surprised that when I wanted Horchata they actually had it, most Mexican restaurants around here do not. I ordered the Pirata Burrito. It was delicous and it was a HUGE burrito that came with beans and rice as a side dish, there was so many different items in the burrito that i cant even name them all. The food was excellent. The waitress was kind, courteous and very fast. I will DEFINITELY be coming back.

Yelp
Not happening..... A few months ago I was telling a co-worker about a great meal I had at Tijuana's on Ford Road near the Fairlane Mall and they told me the same owner has multiple locations but the Lincoln Park location is closer to work. Based on my positive experiences at the Ford Road location, I decided to give the Dix Road locale a try and boy do I regret that decision. Shortly after I entered the restaurant, I was told to sit anywhere and they would be right with me. It took longer than it should of for them to bring salsa and chips. The Ford Road location is Johnny on the spot with greeting and bringing you chips and salsa. It then took a while for the server to take my order. He had several other tables but nothing to prevent him from taking my order sooner. I waited what felt like FOREVER for my simple lunch of chicken enchiladas to arrive. Seriously, it took more than 20 minutes for food that should take no more than 10 minutes to make and serve, even if the restaurant is super busy. I ordered a side of queso dip for the chips and it did not taste right. I've had better at other Mexican restaurants. The service was nothing special. I never saw my server after he dropped off the food except to bring me the check while I was eating but of course he said not to hurry. Gee Thanks. Forget about asking me how is my food or anything. Overall it was slop and drop. The food was middle of the road at best. Honestly, I won't be back. The refried beans were watery and the rice was weird. And the main course, shoot I make better chicken enchiladas. How hard is it? I was never offered a refill on my drink. When paying for the bill, I asked the cashier for a soda to go and can you believe she charged me for it? I literately just ate a meal in your establishment and now you're going to charge me for a soda like I just walked in off the street??? My server standing nearby overheard the nonsense and agreed it was ridiculous for her to charge me so removed it from the check. Pitiful, my server had to do the math for the cashier in order to give me the correct change after subtracting the soda from my bill. Needless to say I will not be back. With SO many fantastic food choices why should I settle? More importantly, I do not have the time, money or patience to tolerate sub par food or service. I will still frequent the Ford Road location because they do not skip a beat with food or service.

Yelp
Worst Mexican place you can go ... not authentic at all ... service is terrible , I don't not recommend if you want real Mexican food ..

Jeanette A.

Yelp
I ordered through doordash this time and I have been here once before and ate inside the restaurant the food was really really good which is why I chose to do a doordash with them. I am not able to eat meat right now and I wanted Enchaladas so I ordered vegetable Enchiladas and there was no way I was expecting to get frozen vegetables in my enchilada I know that it was frozen veggies from a bag because I bought the same bag last week and i told myself to never buy that again and low and behold i end up with this in my food from here my Enchaladas was filled up with crinkle style carrots and it's a l6ot of carrots inside the bag which is what I found in my bag i bought last week. You would think that if you're ordering from a restaurant that you would be able to get fresh vegetables! I paid the price that they ask for and I would have liked to have had fresh vegetables! I could have made Enchiladas at home with a bag of frozen vegetables myself but when I'm spending doordash money I expect my food to be right so I was not happy with the frozen vegetables! I would have rather then put green peppers and onions and mushrooms in the Enchiladas like they use in Fajitas no one orders out to get frozen vegetables horrible! I understand that we are in a pandemic situation but Krogers down the street got fresh veggies all day so if you can't offer fresh fresh vegetables then just take it off the menu or let people know you're using frozen vegetables and give them the choice if they want that or not. Im trying to patronize places in my area but bs like this make me wanna stop and make my own darn food!

Jason C.

Yelp
Best salsa - period. Perfect balance of cilantro & onion. I absolutely love it. Enchiladas are excellent too! Beans & rice are always good. Mariachi music...what else do you need? Happy this place is close to home. If you like salsa, please try it. Always fresh!

Yelp
I finally tried Tijuana's today. I am teetering between three and four stars, feeling generous will go with four. My first impression was slightly divey. No booths only tables, chairs looking a bit outdated. The back wall is a full mural of mexican artwork. As soon as we were seated chips and salsa arrived promptly and drink order taken. The salsa magnificent, one of the best I've had in a while. In fact we got a pint to take home. We ordered an appetizer bean and chorizo dip served with fresh deep fried flour chips. The dip a bit disappointing, warm and cheesy but couldn't see or taste the chorizo. I really don't think there was any chorizo in the dip. It was served with flour chips, which were a bit thick and doughy. I wouldn't order that again. For our entrees I again went with the chicken enchilada suiza's. The verde sauce excellent and cheesy. The meat not as shredded as I would have liked but good. Rice and beans great, especially the rice excellent flavor. We also got the Al pastor tacos, not the flavor profile we are used to, but also very good. The service was amazing, lots of team work here. Very attentive and helpful. Our drinks were always full. Our server very pleasant and efficient. I definitely would go back, there are a few other dishes that looked great. The wet burrito and chicken milanesa ordered by a nearby table looked amazing. Full bar and they even serve breakfast. Prices very reasonable and portions huge. A definite good choice if in the area.

Mike S.

Yelp
My wife and I had dinner here tonight, and it was excellent! Seems to be a family ran business, attentive service, great food and drinks. Everything came out quickly, hot and fresh. We will be back.

William B.

Yelp
We haven't been there in years. I forgot how good there food is. There chips and salsa are one of the best. I ordered fish tacos they were excellent another person in our group ordered the chicken fajitas she said they were excellent. The service was excellent. This place is definitely a place to go.

Chad G.

Yelp
Was in the area for work and stopped in for late lunch. Really good food. Fresh chips and salsa. Mexican pizza was huge and awesome! Also had chorizo taco that was great! I'll forsure be back when I'm in Allen Park or near by.

Brian S.

Yelp
I was totally amazed at how good the service and food where. The fish taco's are the bomb!! They had do much flavor and the pico de gallo complimented everything just right. The place is very clean and the manager was super friendly. The afternoon drink specials and happy hours drink proves looked very reasonable. This place is a must if your in the area and want great Mexican and awesome service.

Jeremy K.

Yelp
Everytime I come here I always receive excellent service. The waitstaff is always prompt and friendly, and the food is amazing! I highly recommend the beef and cheese enchiladas!

Susan H.

Yelp
There is nothing like the surprise of a free entree on your birthday to make a meal even better. With friends to Tijuana for my husband's birthday. The service started out great and attentive, but I am afraid that our party of 6 people too much for our waiter. We had to ask for recently chips and salsa, which wouldn't be bad except he bought it for one end of the table and not the other, we had to ask again. And I think he all but forgot about us at the end as we were sitting waiting and waiting and waiting for boxes and the check. Everyone enjoyed their food and would be happy to go again. I was disappointed this time with our chips and saksa. I expect to have warm fresh chips at a good Mexican restaurant. The salsa was bland as well. Hope they work on this or maybe our night was a fluke.

Yelp
Well, after years of working at Ford and passing by this place going to other places to eat, we finally stopped by or lunch today. The parking lot had more cars in it, and being a day after Cinco De Mayo, decor was still up. The outside looks like an old Taco Bell (similar), but inside is nice. The walls are painted with Mexican themes and such, like villages, bull fighters, etc... The service was quick, although they were in recovery mode from yesterday's festivities... :) The pop and chips arrived quickly and the first thing I really liked about Tijuana's was their Salsa. The hot and mild salsa was fresh, homemade and extremely tasty. :) I couldn't get enough of the hot salsa... YUM!! I ordered the lunch special of 2 chunky beef burritos with beans and cheese and rice. The meals came with 10 minutes & right after we finished our 2 bowl of chips. The only drawback, although the chips we fresh, they were cold. For some reason, I love the hot chips... My burritos were nice, greasy and tasty. I think they could of used more cheese on top, but I'll remember the next time I go to ask for double cheese. LOL ;) The rice was probably the best tasting spanish rice that I've had at a Mexican restaurant in quite a while, but very greasy. All in all, I'm now a fan of Tijuana's Mexican Kitchen. I will be back... You just can't beat the $5.75 lunch special!!

Janis C.

Yelp
This is the first time we have stopped in at this quaint little place. There is Interesting wall art to look at while waiting for your order to arrive. Along with Mexican melodies playing overhead. The salsa and chips were very good. The salsa's were flavorful, freshly made with cilantro and the chips warm. My cheese enchilada's were broiled to perfection. The frijoles were a bit too creamy and the rice uninteresting. My S.O. enjoyed his dish of milianese. I also ordered sangria and found it delightful. It was light bodied, fruity and slightly sweetened. A very nice compliment to the food. There will be return trips.

Allison F.

Yelp
This is a good Mexican restaurant with a huge selection of items on their menu. The prices are very cheap at about $6-$9 per person and they serve alcohol as well. The set-up leaves some atmosphere to be desired, but the food more than makes up for the lack of booths.

Susan M.

Yelp
To start, Cynthia is beyond the beat waitress ever!! She doesn't write your order down and gets it right every time. Not to mention she's beyond nice. That's a huge task when waiting on me, I'm in decisive and change up the original recipe. Best Margarita in town, hade made mix, not the pre blended bottle yuck. Great rice, tasty and moist.

Charles H.

Yelp
Tijuana's is my Mexican go to spot. There wet burrito , and chimichanga dinners are spot on every time I dine. There signature would have to be there salsa. Hands down the best salsa I've ever tasted

Dara B.

Yelp
Went for $1 taco. AMAZING!!! You can get chicken or beef for a buck. Only thing is you have to pay for sour cream pico and gac. Other then that i give them 5 stars

Susan M.

Yelp
The best ever Margaritas hands down! Cynthia has a crazy memory, she writes nothing down and will remember you from your first visit. Great rice as well. Fresh food, Fantastic service great price!

Halah W.

Yelp
Bland food, horrible service they told us they had mountain due and it was moon mist, told us their lemonade was branded and not fresh when it was overall not worth the 60$ spent.

Aida C.

Yelp
I'm new to the neighborhood and this was great. The food was good and came quick. I will definitely use them again.

Erica M.

Yelp
Food is good Pretty authentic to actual mexican food , as i spent time in Mexico & Mexicali Portions are large U must eat it right away After a while it becomes soggy & extremely watery ,not good to warm up a few hrs later

Carm M.

Yelp
My family has been coming here for years. We've always enjoyed their food. It wasn't until my grandma passed away suddenly and we needed to find a venue that could accommodate family. Not only were they happy to provide us with a special menu they were considerate enough to include a price that was well within our budget. They accommodated well over 35 adults and children and did it with perfection. Their team was very attentive with drinks, chips salsa. Our food came out correct and hot and delicious. I can't tell you how relieved I felt to sit down after an emotional morning and not worry about anything other than spending time with family. I will always recommend this place! Thank you Mari!

Ron S.

Yelp
Went to the location in LP. Never again will I eat here.. The girl who waited on me was very unfriendly and acted like it was a bother to serve me. I ordered a margarita and it tasted absolutely awful. They then refused to take it off my bill. I ordered some take out tacos. Simple enough right? Wrong. They put the wrong toppings on my tacos. This place CLEARY doesn't care about making their customers happy.

Dave H.

Yelp
I have loved Tijuana Kitchen since it was located in Dearborn. They moved several years ago to their current location in Lincoln Park and I'm happy to say that they kept up the quality, the great service and the fresh ingredients! This place has all your traditional Mexican favorites. It's not what I would call particularly authentic, but hey, we're in S.E. Michigan, what do you expect?? It is VERY good, and a real gem of a Mexican restaurant outside of Mexicantown. They have a full bar, and nice complement of Mexican beers. Their wet burritos and Mexican pizzas are HUGE. Their guacamole is made fresh. And their chips and salsa are both house made and delicious. You can buy a bag to go when you leave - and I highly recommend doing that. After you are seated, be sure to take a moment to absorb the murals. The "Three Amigos" mural always makes me laugh. There's no mistaking it. A great place off the beaten path, with great food, for a reasonable price. Go. Enjoy.

Therle D.

Yelp
I have to admit, we passed this place by a number of times because of the drab exterior and the bars on the doors. It looked a lot more like a bar than a restaurant. When we finally got over ourselves and walked inside, we found a place with excellent murals telling the story of central american development from the Maya to modern Mexico, and a friendly atmosphere where the waitstaff was constantly coming by, constantly asking, and constantly topping off the drinks. Bottomless glasses and appetizers are my first and second signs of great service. The chips were hot and ready, and came with two distinct kinds of salsa, sour cream and guac. Then the food arrived. Everything was fresh, hot, and perfectly prepared. My delightful dining companion had the chimichanga dinner, and I did a shrimp fajita platter with rice and beans on the side. The guac that came with the meals and the chips was freshly made on site, creamy, and absolutely delicious. My better half had always avoided guac because of the appearance, but was encouraged to try everything this time, and positively loved it. The chimichanga was hot, full of everything, and the fajitas were still sizzling, with corn tortillas that were just this side of perfectly prepared. Everything you would expect to be crispy was crisp, and everything you would want moist and steaming did just that. The greatest part! the sides were absolutely perfect. I commonly go into a mexican restaurant, order an entree and then totally ignore the sides. But these were just amazing, having the perfect temperature, spice and flavor that had me stuffing my face with them. Neither of us could finish, because there were just so much to eat. The generous helpings went into a doggie bag, and were gleefully assaulted the next day. And, yes, still good.

Michael B.

Yelp
"Because Taco Bell doesn't serve beer!" I really can't think of why this place is popular except due to poor competition. The salsa is okay. The chips taste like they're from a bag. The beans and rice are bland. The entrées are average at best and very bland. If it wasn't for beer, I'd just go to Taco Bell.

Vince N.

Yelp
Have been here a few times in the last month, and the food is always pretty good. I would have to rate the Chips and Salsa as some of the best I have ever had. The entrees are also good. The only complaint is that sometimes the kitchen is a little slow getting the food out, but that just gives me more time to stuff my face with the tasty chips and salsa.

KC Z.

Yelp
What happened to this place? I've been going here ever since they had the location over on ford road in Detroit. I was so happy when they opened this one in LP. Usually, Angel is our server. He is the best and probably the only good thing left here. The food is declining in quality also. Yesterday, my mom and I went there for lunch with my two kids. First off, I have two kids, and I had to get my own high chairs for them while one girl told us to sit whereever and walked away, and another worker was sitting in the front booth on the phone. Then this is where the magic happens. the girl taking the drinks had a horrible attitude. "Something to drink" was her first words to us. My mom got an iced tea and I ordered a diet. My son got a sprite. 5+ minutes later, some other girl brings our drinks. She goes "Coke?" I was like that's mine, but is it diet? I can't have sugar. She said "I don't know, she got the drinks not me" and then just set it in front of me.. wtf? My moms iced tea had TONS of white stuff floating in it, and was so cloudy you couldn't even see the straw inside the cup. Also, had to ask her twice for straws. Especially after realizing my coke (which was NOT diet) had a huge chip in the glass where I would have drank it from.. not cool. There's no way she could have missed that, she just didn't care. So my mom told her about the iced tea, and she got an immediate attitude and says "k well do you want something else to drink or not?" So my mom asked for a diet. 5 minutes later, she comes back and says "here's your water" and just sets it down. ?? My mom says, water? I ordered a diet, sorry! So she went and got it, set it down, and with the worst look on her face "you ready to order?" At this point, I honestly considered walking out. And I have never once done that. I'm a waitress myself, you literally work for tips. Your tips reflect your service. And that's how you treat the people that basically pay your check? I've never in my 10 years of serving, ever seen someone with such a bad attitude, and if I did, they were fired immediately. She got our food wrong too- my son is 3 and very picky. I got him 1 hard taco, with lettuce and cheese only. When the food came, His taco comes with tomatoes, and maybe 4 or 5 little shreds of cheese. I'll also add, that cheese is .25 extra. So they should Atleast do a better job with that. My son almost didn't eat his food because of the tomatoes I had to pick out. I would have sent it back, but never seen her after that. She came and checked on us once, when she brought the bill, Ofcourse. And then acted like I was an inconvenience to her for asking for another coke? Sweetie, if you hate your job that bad, you should probably find a different one. Marissa- get better servers!! People who actually enjoy making your customers happy and want to come back. Your food is amazing and you should have servers just as amazing. After this experience, I won't ever come back to Tijuana's. Which is a shame, because I always loved their food and salsa. But being a server and manager myself, I just can't put up with service that is basically degrading. I've never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant in my entire life. Hopefully Marissa and the owners actually read this, and update their staff. Cuz I know Angel can't work all the time as much as we would love him to!!!

Valentine A.

Yelp
This is and has been my FAVORITE Mexican restaurant downriver! Their staff is awesome & attentive. Fried ice cream is Delicioso! You gotta try this place if you're craving real Mexican food

Kris A.

Yelp
I went here based on the Yelp reviews alone, and hasn't disappointed. The decor is a bit plain, but it gets the job done. Service was VERY nice and attentive as well. I ordered the chicken chimichangas, and they came with rice & beans. All were tasty, and I had no major complaints. The chips weren't quite the freshest, but they weren't awful. The salsa was freshly made and well flavored. My daughter had the beef Tamale dinner, and she said it was good too (don't eat the corn husks!). All in all, I'd probably stop back in if I was in the area.

Dillon D.

Yelp
If you are looking for Taco Bell type Mexican... stay away. This place is authentic and delicious and reasonably priced. Love their tacos and the rice and beans here are excellent. It is definitely a local favorite of mine and I will be back again. I would love to give their menu a run through again and try several other items.

Xtina F.

Yelp
The service and the chimis are the only reason I can give this place stars. The food made my boyfriend sick (we ordered different food) and the tamales were hard and dry. Hard and dry! Why is it so hard to get a decent tamale in our area??

Sandra R.

Yelp
I was so disappointed last night. Cinco De Mayo - They were so unprepared. They even deleted my comment on Facebook. I was so upset. My husband and I frequently dine there. Food is pretty good and margaritas are good. We went there last night and they were very understaffed. We were sat and ignored for 10 minutes before getting to order a drink. Margaritas were watered down. Waiter never came back. I had to flag someone down to get another drink. Had to flag him down again to order food and he acted like we were a burden. The owner was standing up front with his hands in his pockets bringing drinks to his regulars and ignoring everyone else. I was completely mortified. It was the worst service we've ever received here. The regular waitress who is normally there was even in a bad mood. She never smiled the whole time. She realized we hadn't been waited on, even though people who were saw several tables after us already had food and just shrugged her shoulders. Yes, they were busy. Yes it was a Mexican Holiday but they should have been prepared. It's once per year. Understaffed, un-prepared and rude staff last night. it's going to be a long time before we decide to give them another shot. So disappointed. They even advertised give aways etc. There was NOTHING going on last night.

Mia C.

Yelp
This is my favorite Mexican restaurant downriver. I love their tacos, rice, salsa and chips. their tamales are some of the best I've had, and My husband really likes their fajitas. They also do $.99 taco Tuesdays (carry out only) which is great for nights you don't want to cook and want a quick reasonably priced option to bring home (cheaper than Taco Bell).

Nikki C.

Yelp
I stopped in here for a carryout dinner. It's not far from my home, so I see it all the time while out & about, running errands. I had a strong desire for some Mexican fare, so I ran in here to get a combination dinner -- Enchilada, Tamale and Burrito. Delish! I skipped the beans and got double rice. It hit the spot that was craving Mexican. I didn't have to wait too long for my order at all. I was given sufficient salsa. The order was packaged nicely. The food was hot, moist and tasty. I would have loved some chips, though. Don't know if they have to be ordered as a side item or not -- but if you can get unlimited chips while dining in, I think you should be able to get a small bag of chips with your carryout. Perhaps, I'll visit again and explore the menu a little more. I'd like to dine in and experience the inside, sit-down dinner and then revisit this review.

Tamun G.

Yelp
I was really impressed with the quality of food and especially the service. It was my first time here but will surely not be the last.

Victoria F.

Yelp
Horrible. Food was cold, soup was reheated from the day before. Service was okay but I will not recommend at all!

I was disappointed in the latest take out. Food was bland and portions were small. Rice was very salty, chips were stale, and "Mild" salsa was very spicy and hot! Won't go back. This place used to be great.
