TIKI TIKI in Richmond is the kind of place you walk into and immediately feel like you have stepped into a portal. The walls glow with bamboo, neon light, and unapologetic kitsch. The food is classic Chinese-American comfort. No frills and no ego. Just the familiar hits we all grew up eating, done well enough to keep you happy.
But nobody comes here searching for culinary enlightenment. They come for the escape.
The atmosphere is a beautiful and shameless throwback to an era when tiki bars were temples of pure, goofy joy. It is a time capsule filled with flickering torches, carved idols, and drinks that arrive with enough fire and fruit to make a pirate blush. The staff understands the assignment and leans into the vibe with real sincerity.
If you are bringing a date, order the volcano cocktail for two. It is theatrical, excessive, and absolutely perfect. Then get a pu pu platter, complete with the little flame in the middle. Fire improves almost everything in life, and this place knows it.
TIKI TIKI is not just dinner. It is a mood. It is a moment. It is a reminder that life gets too serious too often and sometimes you need to sip a giant rum drink while something burns in front of you.
Five stars for the escape alone.
