Best Tacos in Phoenix, Arizona | Eater Phoenix

"Indian-Mexican fusion isn’t exactly new, but Tikka n Tacos goes beyond wrapping butter chicken in naan. Tucked along a dusty stretch of 19th Avenue in North Phoenix, the restaurant serves tacos on a chewy flatbread that lands somewhere between roti and tortilla — pliable, flaky, and sturdy enough to hold its own. Fillings include clay oven-cooked paneer, jackfruit, lamb, shrimp, and fish, topped with pico-style salsa and shredded lettuce in a cross-cultural nod to both Indian street food and taco shop classics. At $3.50 a taco, they’re priced right in line with the city’s average, even though inventive renditions like this often comes with a premium. While the tacos are the main draw, the full menu of Indian staples holds its own. It’s a refreshingly non-gimmicky fusion." - McConnell Quinn

Received food in timely manner and food tasted amazing. Cashier was super friendly. Price seems high but you do get a really large portion of food. Overall very good experience so glad I stopped in. My boneless chicken biryani and lamb burrito were amazing. Crunchy french fries and really good dipping sauce. Also had to get a to go bag cause I WAS FULL!!!!

Tried this fairly new restaurant that was opened few months ago. This is a fusion restaurant (Indian and Mexican). Ordered a paneer taco and paneer burger. It’s basically paneer curry in a taco and similar curry in the burger too. Curry flavor in them is delicious. But it was a bit strong and would pair even better with rice. Fries we got with burger were soggy with no salt. Serving sizes were small compared to other locations. Service was quick as we got a take out. Nice interior but exterior looked a little weird. Have decent parking space.

So this is a true hole-in-the wall, mom and pop run fusion Indian / Mexican / street foodie corner of heaven. Situated next to a drive-thru liquor store, not the best part of town but worth the drive! Restaurant is super clean inside, warm and welcoming. Food is all freshly prepared, so it's not super fast but just like any other fresh to table restaurant, it took about 15 minutes to 20 minutes to get our food which is very reasonable considering the quality of food. We had the shrimp burrito which was in FRESHLY made roti. Stacked with shrimp, fresh vegetables. Fantastic sauce. The roti was super thin, perfect application for this. Accompanying cilantro and spicy sauce were just right. Malai chicken tikka was perfectly cooked. Super juicy and tender. Melted like butter in our mouths. The lamb and paneer tacos were a great starter as well, as soon as we sunk our teeth into them, All you could hear was "oh man, so good". The soft taco shells have the perfect chew, and they are simply dressed with crisp iceberg lettuce. We're ordering these every time we come. By the way the French fries, twice fried, were such an added nice touch.... It just shows the level of food prep. They had the perfect crunch, fantastic accompaniment to dinner. Overall the food was crisp, light and clean tasting. Fantastic flavors, there was no greasiness, and nothing tasted cheap or pre-made. Everything had the feeling of being made in mom's kitchen as you waited. And holding true to the hole in the wall theme, prices were amazing. They mentioned that they have a food truck that goes to Tempe sometimes... I highly recommend the dine-in experience here.

I love a good fusion style restaurant. Tikka n Taco is delicious, Indian style cuisine mixed with Mexican cuisine. We ordered Lamb tacos & fish tacos.....its Tuesday so tacos are a must, their version of nachos, look nothing like traditional nachos but are equally addicting & to round off the meal we had to try the coconut curry & naan. Everything was delicious we ate till we couldn't eat any more. Delivery was quick & easy. Menu is extensive. A little pricey. Would definitely order again.

This is a family-owned restaurant, so I want to be thoughtful and constructive with my feedback. As an Indian restaurant, it can be challenging to compete during lunchtime, especially since many similar places offer buffets. Selling individual meals during that time—particularly in this economy—makes it tough to balance quality, quantity, and pricing. With that in mind, here are a few thoughts and suggestions: 1. The Meal: I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and Samosas, which came to $22 (including tax and tip, no drink). Unfortunately, I wasn’t offered complimentary water. The flavor was excellent, but I did find pieces of chicken skin in the dish, which is unusual for Tikka Masala. The samosas were also cold in the middle, which was a bit disappointing. That said, aside from those issues, I genuinely enjoyed the food—I just wish the portion size had been a bit larger. 2. Fusion Concept: As an Indian-Mexican fusion restaurant, I was surprised to see there were no combo plates available. Offering combination platters could help highlight your unique fusion concept and give customers a chance to try multiple flavors in one visit, rather than having to return multiple times to sample different items. 3. Lunch Specials: The pricing remains consistent throughout the day, but I believe introducing a lunch specials menu could help attract more midday customers. It would be a great way to offer value while encouraging people to stop in during lunch hours. 4. Ambience: The décor didn’t quite reflect the feel of either a traditional Indian or Mexican restaurant. A little more themed atmosphere might enhance the dining experience and tie in better with the fusion concept. 5. Music: I absolutely loved the Christian music playing in the background—it created a peaceful and welcoming vibe. That was a very nice touch. To the owners: I truly wish you all the best in this venture. May God bless your business, and thank you for sharing your food and culture with the community. Have a wonderful day!

Decided to try this place out because it was in my neighborhood and had good reviews. When we walked in, staff were on their phones in a booth and the rest of the restaurant was empty. We approached the counter to ask if we could sit anywhere and were told that we would need to order and pay before. Never being there before we asked for suggestions on the menu. The soda machine was broken and they dis not have many drinks. We were forced to choose canned sodas that were not cold. They also did not have ice. The food took a while to make and we assumed that since we were the only ones there, that was because they were making it fresh. Nope. Our food arrived cold. My rice had a piece of metal in it. The quality was poor. We were never approached after food was delivered and had to get up to ask for things. We ended up not eating and I left my food (did not get it to go). Plus the restaurant was warm. When we told them about the metal in my food, there response was if we wanted to take it to go. Do NOT eat here for it is not worth it and we both got sick.
