Best Tacos in Phoenix, Arizona | Eater Phoenix

"Indian-Mexican fusion isn’t exactly new, but Tikka n Tacos goes beyond wrapping butter chicken in naan. Tucked along a dusty stretch of 19th Avenue in North Phoenix, the restaurant serves tacos on a chewy flatbread that lands somewhere between roti and tortilla — pliable, flaky, and sturdy enough to hold its own. Fillings include clay oven-cooked paneer, jackfruit, lamb, shrimp, and fish, topped with pico-style salsa and shredded lettuce in a cross-cultural nod to both Indian street food and taco shop classics. At $3.50 a taco, they’re priced right in line with the city’s average, even though inventive renditions like this often comes with a premium. While the tacos are the main draw, the full menu of Indian staples holds its own. It’s a refreshingly non-gimmicky fusion." - McConnell Quinn

Delighted to find this cute restaurant with Mexican-Indian fusion food. We had the shrimp coconut curry, chicken fried rice, and garlic naan. The flavors were absolutely amazing. The owners were so nice and you can tell they take pride in their menu and providing delicious food. We will definitely be back.

Received food in timely manner and food tasted amazing. Cashier was super friendly. Price seems high but you do get a really large portion of food. Overall very good experience so glad I stopped in. My boneless chicken biryani and lamb burrito were amazing. Crunchy french fries and really good dipping sauce. Also had to get a to go bag cause I WAS FULL!!!!

Tried this fairly new restaurant that was opened few months ago. This is a fusion restaurant (Indian and Mexican). Ordered a paneer taco and paneer burger. It’s basically paneer curry in a taco and similar curry in the burger too. Curry flavor in them is delicious. But it was a bit strong and would pair even better with rice. Fries we got with burger were soggy with no salt. Serving sizes were small compared to other locations. Service was quick as we got a take out. Nice interior but exterior looked a little weird. Have decent parking space.

This is a family-owned restaurant, so I want to be thoughtful and constructive with my feedback. As an Indian restaurant, it can be challenging to compete during lunchtime, especially since many similar places offer buffets. Selling individual meals during that time—particularly in this economy—makes it tough to balance quality, quantity, and pricing. With that in mind, here are a few thoughts and suggestions: 1. The Meal: I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and Samosas, which came to $22 (including tax and tip, no drink). Unfortunately, I wasn’t offered complimentary water. The flavor was excellent, but I did find pieces of chicken skin in the dish, which is unusual for Tikka Masala. The samosas were also cold in the middle, which was a bit disappointing. That said, aside from those issues, I genuinely enjoyed the food—I just wish the portion size had been a bit larger. 2. Fusion Concept: As an Indian-Mexican fusion restaurant, I was surprised to see there were no combo plates available. Offering combination platters could help highlight your unique fusion concept and give customers a chance to try multiple flavors in one visit, rather than having to return multiple times to sample different items. 3. Lunch Specials: The pricing remains consistent throughout the day, but I believe introducing a lunch specials menu could help attract more midday customers. It would be a great way to offer value while encouraging people to stop in during lunch hours. 4. Ambience: The décor didn’t quite reflect the feel of either a traditional Indian or Mexican restaurant. A little more themed atmosphere might enhance the dining experience and tie in better with the fusion concept. 5. Music: I absolutely loved the Christian music playing in the background—it created a peaceful and welcoming vibe. That was a very nice touch. To the owners: I truly wish you all the best in this venture. May God bless your business, and thank you for sharing your food and culture with the community. Have a wonderful day!

So this is a true hole-in-the wall, mom and pop run fusion Indian / Mexican / street foodie corner of heaven. Situated next to a drive-thru liquor store, not the best part of town but worth the drive! Restaurant is super clean inside, warm and welcoming. Food is all freshly prepared, so it's not super fast but just like any other fresh to table restaurant, it took about 15 minutes to 20 minutes to get our food which is very reasonable considering the quality of food. We had the shrimp burrito which was in FRESHLY made roti. Stacked with shrimp, fresh vegetables. Fantastic sauce. The roti was super thin, perfect application for this. Accompanying cilantro and spicy sauce were just right. Malai chicken tikka was perfectly cooked. Super juicy and tender. Melted like butter in our mouths. The lamb and paneer tacos were a great starter as well, as soon as we sunk our teeth into them, All you could hear was "oh man, so good". The soft taco shells have the perfect chew, and they are simply dressed with crisp iceberg lettuce. We're ordering these every time we come. By the way the French fries, twice fried, were such an added nice touch.... It just shows the level of food prep. They had the perfect crunch, fantastic accompaniment to dinner. Overall the food was crisp, light and clean tasting. Fantastic flavors, there was no greasiness, and nothing tasted cheap or pre-made. Everything had the feeling of being made in mom's kitchen as you waited. And holding true to the hole in the wall theme, prices were amazing. They mentioned that they have a food truck that goes to Tempe sometimes... I highly recommend the dine-in experience here.

Yelp
"NEW. QUALITY. BOLD FLAVORS. REVOLUTIONARY." Opened 4 months ago. This new restaurant introduces you with a fusion of Mexican/ Indian. Chicken tacos: so succulent and flavorful! Reminded me of chicken AL PASTOR. High quality chicken breast, so juicy and packed with flavor! You definitely need to try this. Get lime and cucumber on the side -recommended. Sauces: cilantro chutney and a savory chipotle mayo Chicken Tiki Masala: they used quality white meat (chicken breast), cooked to perfection, everything was juicy and the sauces complimented this dish very well! This will be the perfect meal if you are cutting at the gym because you have low carbs, high quality, protein ! I will definitely be back to try the rice as well and I will definitely be telling everybody I know about this place!

Yelp
Overall rating: 4/5 Wait: 4/5 Arrival time: Friday 4:30pm Food: 4.5/5 Order: Butter Chicken, Chicken Biryani, Garlic Naan Service: n/a Price: 4/5 Worth it, would come back In a city with no shortage of Indian options, this humble hole-in-the-wall quietly serves some of Phoenix's more memorable offerings. The chicken biryani arrived as a fragrant, flavorful masterpiece, a clear standout on the menu. While the butter chicken was a touch too rich, the garlic naan provided the perfect counterpoint--impossibly fluffy yet crispy and intensely flavorful. We stuck to the Indian side of the menu, and it did not disappoint in the slightest. For those in search of expertly crafted classics in an unassuming package, consider this your sign. This is a spot that easily earns a recommendation and a return trip.

Yelp
Omg talk about a new gem! Don't be distracted by the inside(you can tell it was an old Mexican restaurant). I drove all the way here from Ahwatukee to try. The woman who helped us was so nice and gave some decent recommendations. The food was made fresh to order in about 15mins. As someone who is new to Indian food and flavors, based on what I ate and received, I know this place is offering exceptional flavor/seasoning/char/portions etc. The garlic naan, ‍. I even took some home, heated it up and it didnt get hard. All of the leftovers were just as good the next day. Im looking forward to seeing this place grow and will definitely be back.

Yelp
The name is striking. Any Indian / Mexican fusion restaurant will catch my attention. The restaurant is fast casual which I liked. I ordered the paneer tikka masala. It tasted as expected, a little more paneer may have capitulated to 5 stars.

Yelp
Delicious, clean and bright. Ordered the lamb tacos - super flavorful and looked to be on the small side however the lamb seemed to be braised and had very good flavor and spice. Even with the smallish size, it was good. Split it with a friend so I got to try half of the chicken tikka burrito. There wasn't the typical rice as filler so lots of chicken, lettuce and pico. It came with 2 sauces on the side and I enjoyed the green (maybe cilantro based) sauce. The masala nachos were very good- lots of Masala sauce and if it had a protein, it would be a complete offering. The mango lassi was cool and refreshing. The person that took our order was very helpful with suggestions and checked in a couple of times.

Yelp
Food is solid Indian food. I could have had a little more Salt and heat in my gravy but the taste was there. The naan was really good! Soft and crispy!

Yelp
Came here a couple months ago but they had yet to release the Indian menu. Saw that they recently put up their store sign, Tikka N Taco, and knew it was time for a revisit. Well, I get gout and get a tingling in my toe before an attack. Fortunately if I cool my jets with meat, then the attack will never come about. Wanted something vegetarian and decided to come here with a moderate appetite, so I opted for something simple and light. Ordered the Dal Makhani lentil soup and garlic naan and man was it good. Dal Makhani came with a side of plain basmati rice. Wasn't expecting that and could've skipped the naan as I wasn't that hungry. But either way I'm glad I did. The lentil soup was rich in flavor and savoriness (made with 5 different lentils I'm told!). By itself it can be a little overwhelming, but with the rice and naan it was PERFECT. The naan was very fresh and hot, had a nice thickness and texture. A slight crispness on one side and soft on the other. It's cut into 4 and I could only finish 2 with my meal. Decor is simple and straightforward, no frills but find that in the food's quality. Seems to be cooked to order and can take some time, but I prefer this wait any day than reheated, prepackaged foods you find in majority of restaurants nowadays. This is a bona fide mom&pop shop dishing out fresh and delicious Indian food. Because of the high bar the soup set, I'm keen to try everything on their menu once.

Yelp
First time in yesterday. We were feeding a small group of us and everyone loved the food! We tried out several curries and lamb tacos! Next time I want to try the nachos.

Yelp
The service was relatively prompt. I was in and out within 10 minutes. The restaurant was clean and quiet, and the gentleman who took my order was very pleasant. The lamb tacos are savory and delicious. The masala dosa was quite tasty too. I will definitely return! I am gluten intolerant and had no issue whatsoever.

Yelp
I am always looking for a new Indian food place and this was on my way home from work. I love the idea of fusing Mexican and Indian was looking forward to trying this place out. When I walked in, it was completely empty. Clean bright nicely decorated Yet threw me off with no people. Granted location is not in the greatest area and perhaps too new for folks to know about yet. The menu was bright and colorful projected above the kitchen area. I wanted to order Tika tacos yet was in the mood for a salad and I can really find a good salad at an Indian restaurant. The salad had clay oven, chicken skewer, tomatoes, onion, bell pepper, carrots, lettuce, and the dressing was very creamy and spiced just right also came with a mint chutney with which was very good. The gal who took my order was very nice yet. Staff was not overly friendly. Didn't get a warm fuzzy like I have received it other recently visited Indian restaurants. I would try them again. Definitely wanna try one of the fusion options.
