Came here a couple months ago but they had yet to release the Indian menu. Saw that they recently put up their store sign, Tikka N Taco, and knew it was time for a revisit.
Well, I get gout and get a tingling in my toe before an attack. Fortunately if I cool my jets with meat, then the attack will never come about. Wanted something vegetarian and decided to come here with a moderate appetite, so I opted for something simple and light. Ordered the Dal Makhani lentil soup and garlic naan and man was it good.
Dal Makhani came with a side of plain basmati rice. Wasn't expecting that and could've skipped the naan as I wasn't that hungry. But either way I'm glad I did. The lentil soup was rich in flavor and savoriness (made with 5 different lentils I'm told!). By itself it can be a little overwhelming, but with the rice and naan it was PERFECT.
The naan was very fresh and hot, had a nice thickness and texture. A slight crispness on one side and soft on the other. It's cut into 4 and I could only finish 2 with my meal.
Decor is simple and straightforward, no frills but find that in the food's quality. Seems to be cooked to order and can take some time, but I prefer this wait any day than reheated, prepackaged foods you find in majority of restaurants nowadays. This is a bona fide mom&pop shop dishing out fresh and delicious Indian food. Because of the high bar the soup set, I'm keen to try everything on their menu once.
