Phoenix’s 12 Best Indian Restaurants - Eater Phoenix

"Quick service Indian chain Tikka Shack keeps its menu simple. Choose a curry and a protein (paneer, chicken, lamb, or shrimp) and the level of spice. Don’t forget to add naan: Tikka Shack has a version topped with cilantro, garlic, and cheese that’s worth the extra coins. Dine-in patrons can also order draft beer. Place orders online for pickup and delivery." - Rudri Patel

Google
“Seriously good Indian food” is a rally fitting tag line. We just got in from out of town and arrived hungry…ended up here since this plaza is not far from our hotel. The menu was very “approachable” for someone who doesn’t know a lot about Indian cuisine and I was impressed by how quickly everything came out. My husband split a Tikka Pizza and lamb biryani rice bowl…and a couple of simosas. Great find! Something tells me we’ll be back again this week 😋

I’ve visited this Tikka Shack multiple times and I’m in love. The smell of saffron is intoxicating when you walk in. I’ve never dined in, but have hung out and waited on my to go orders. I love the decor of the dining room, music they play AND there’s a self serve beer fountain. It’s a vibe. My go to meal is the original curry with chicken and basmati rice, the mango salad, side of basmati rice, with the basmati rice and mango salad drenched in the tikka masala sauce.

I was a huge fan of this place up until yesterday, when my Uber Eats delivery of Tikka Masala had a large brown hair in it. I wasn't able to see it before trying to eat it. Disgusting. I contacted them to let a manager know. To be fair, they apologized and issued a refund. However, their way of making up the inconvenience was vaguely mentioning that my next order would be free. How about correcting the order, expediting it, and delivering it for me immediately? Or sending me a gift card? I was so disgusted with this that I'm not sure I will ever eat there again. I asked them about how they will prevent this in the future and didn't get a satisfactory answer. They really need to update their policies on how to prevent this and/or handle this in the future. It left me feeling like they could have done more to make it up to a customer who was very disappointed.

This is my first time to review anything. However, I felt the need to so here I am. The service was great, the workers were kind, friendly and patient, and our food was brought to us quickly. I can’t speak to all the food but I had a noon taco that was amazing!!!! Best I’ve ever had!! I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch there plus I was able to eat outside and watch kids happily playing in the splash pad. Again, a great place to eat. Delicious food and great service,

Google
We ordered the take-out.Menu was simple and easy to navigate for ordering.we had Naan Tacos, one each with Chicken tikka and Paneer Masala, Malai Kofta, and Samosa Chaat. Most of the food was tasty and fresh. Chicken Tikka in one of the Naan tacos was dry. Also, it would be better to separate rice from curry dishes. Rice was packed in same container with Malai Kofta and it got mixed. Anyway, experience was good and I recommend it.

Google
This is my go-to for quick Indian food. They have a good selection and always consistently tasty. Sri was very helpful today. Order came out hot and quick. Had the Chicken Tikka Masala, vegetable biryani and tried the spicy peppers with chicken for the first time, and I give it the thumbs up. Yummo!

Google
This Indian restaurant consistently delivers on flavor, and that's a huge plus! We've visited multiple times, and the food taste is reliably good across the board. The portion sizes are decemt, and I appreciate the overall concept of the restaurant. Be aware, their "house spicy" level definitely leans towards hot, so if you're sensitive to heat, you might want to ask them to dial it back. My main critiques are with a couple of specific items. The naans are not good and don't seem freshly made in a tandoor, which is a bit disappointing for an Indian spot. Also, the samosas were noticeably oily. Despite those points, the consistent deliciousness of the main dishes makes it a worthwhile visit.

Google
Surprisingly good made to order Indian cuisine. The veggie jalfrezi although small, was very tasty - and spicy. The staff is very friendly. They also offer many beers on rap.

Yelp
Ordered their tikka masala and naan to go. Amazing quality of food. I would've loved to dine in if I could because the place looks so adorable. The staff was kind and tried to be as quick as they could. Came during a slow time so I was able to enjoy things while I wait.

Yelp
The food always a hit and never a miss for me here! It's always so clean in here and the seating is comfortable to dine-in. You go and order your food at the counter, take your number to your table (whether you're dining in or taking out), then they'll bring your food out to you when it's ready. The food comes out hot, fast, and really good consistently! I ordered the lamb Goan Vindaloo extra extra spicy! I could have had it spicier but the heat level was perfect considering it was 109 outside. The dish comes with rice, your entree, and garnished perfectly to your table and all for $14...$11 for the curry and $3 to have it with lamb. My kids got the Tikka pizza and it's basically naan with tomato sauce and yummy cheese. It's the perfect amount of pizza for a 5 and 8 year old. We also got a side of garlic naan bread to sop up the curry, and it was all just delicious. If you want fast and good Indian food, this is the place to go! Also make sure to use your phone number to collect points, because they add up and can go towards free food our total bill discounts for your next visits...which you will have!

Yelp
Our team wanted to get some quick lunch and we used Grubhub to place the order. There are lot of options to pick from and I went with the most recommended kabob bowl. I also ordered their mango lassi. You can pick the protein of your choice and I went with chicken, it comes with side of rice and choice of salad. The kabob is grilled and is juicy with nice flavors. Loved the rice, it has a nice aroma and tastes good. Overall a good place to get some quick delicious lunch. The order was delivered or time and there were no errors.
google avatar

Rae T.

Yelp
Food was not good at all. The tikka masala was super sweet with absolutely no spice despite requesting "hot". Even the naan was oddly thick and not thin and crispy like traditional naan. Staff was nice though.
google avatar

sandy b.

Yelp
Everyone who works here are friendly, patient and helpful. Go to counter to order. Upon entering the spices waft throughout the restaurant. In & outdoor seating. Been here so many times. Favs are garlic nan, rasali, mango lassi and masala fries. Their first Tues special is da bomb.
google avatar

Risto K.

Yelp
Cute Indian styled-restaurant. It does appear to be chain, and as it is well located, I decided to try it out. Staff is friendly and they explained how things work: pick a curry, pick a protein and voila. Add somosa or naan for extra! I did just that and was a bit disappointed. First of all it seemed that vegetables were not cooked all the way and some of the ingredients typically found in saag were not there. Lastly I would say - price is an issue. For two curry bowls and side of mango lassi $30+ is over the top with disposable utensils and plates. Too much for what you get.....

Kismet G.

Yelp
It is amazing! The briyani was so good, so is the paneer it is very flavorful and fresh and my whole family loved it

Jack M.

Yelp
If you order your curry with rice they will literally give you a half portion. Order one without rice and they fill the whole bowl with curry. Order with rice and they cut the portion in half because they fill it with rice. I paid extra for veggies and chicken and barley got any so it was 19.50$ for a half curry and rice.

Yelp
This restaurant is beautiful and so aesthetic! The out door seating is beautiful too! It's super clean in there as well. The staff is so amazing, every time I go there they are so kind and efficient. The food is so delicious, the butter masala is such a comfort food and I crave it all the time! Love this place and the workers so much! Hope this helps!

Yelp
Picked up food from here the other day on my way home after shopping. The interior was clean and I love the self pour beer wall. The tikka masala was ok. Not a huge flavor or spices which you expect from Indian food. The garlic nan bread did not taste like it was made fresh which was a disappointment. Good option for fast casual.
google avatar

Nick C.

Yelp
I love the option to get some good fast casual food that isn't the typical type of place. I picked up some Goan Vindaloo and a garlic naan. The food was ok. It hit the spot and tasted good, but not quite the same level as other Indian food places. It's a good option for convenience though. I also tasted the tikka masala and liked that better than the goan vindaloo.

Yelp
Time to for some Indian food! The spice smell was divine. We decided on Korma masala with added chicken, chole masala and garlic naan bread. We got it to go but thought we'd taste test some before leaving. Staff brought our packaged meals to the table. Nice! I tasted my korma which comes with cauliflower and carrots as well as rice. Chicken was added on to the meal. The chole (garbanzo beans) were in a nice tomato sauce. We didn't realize it came with a load of onions which my husband doesn't like. He tried eating around the onions but every spoonful produced onions. It is also a spicy meal, I decided to cover up the meal and see if I couldn't get a replacement. Staff were super sweet and said they would replace it. The new meal was delivered to our table. Nice folks, thank you! Shared parking and free WiFi. The garlic naan was so good.

Yelp
Had this place for the first time tonight so wanted to try a bit of everything. Ordinarily I would order butter chicken or tikka masala just for a point of reference but my husband wasn't interested so I went with one of my usual vegetarian dishes. I did the Aloo Saag (hot) and since I was ordering from DoorDash, I wasn't sure how hot "hot" would be. I'd say if the scale was 1-10, it was probably a 5-6. So moderately spicy. It came with rice and then I also added garlic naan, the tikka pizza, and an order of samosas. Obviously there was a TON of leftovers but I wanted a good sampling. I liked the Aloo Saag but I wish I had gotten something tomato based instead of spinach. It was heavily spinach-y, which they clearly state so that was just on me. The samosas and the sauce they came with were AMAZING! The garlic naan was very garlicky but good. I did not like the pizza. It felt very dialed in and like something I definitely could have made at home with a bunch of diced onions and tomatoes - not at all how it was pictured in the image on the website. But overall, it was really good - I'll go back to try other things too!

Yelp
Excellent Indian option with a fast service option. Think of Chipotle meeting your local Indian shop. Quality and portion size is fair to price. Some options are extra, but so is the case with most other places. I only wish that they would open more locations in East Valley around Gilbert/QC area!
google avatar

Yelp
My three positives and a negative because the world needs more positivity: + quick, hot, fresh food + all of the curries can be made vegetarian. Hubby had the original with veggies - medium spice. He was thrilled and a smidge sweaty (he blames the weather) + I enjoyed the classic chicken tikka masala. Rich, buttery creaminess. We shared a street style chaat. Spectacular - they had a beer bar on card/ tap. However, you essentially pay twice (once for your food and to get a card and once when you are done drinking). Not horrible unless there is a line. For some obvious reasons, the selection was mostly regular (think Coors light) with some local beers thrown in
google avatar

Aza N.

Yelp
I always crave their food. Yum, my favorites are tikka wraps, also i like cheese quesadillas from kids menu.
google avatar

Audra S.

Yelp
I love the butter Marsala. It has the right amount of spice and comes with rice that makes it just that much better.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered vegetable Pattie's and jasmine rice with chicken fries. Delicious food. Great and relaxing environment. Great service, they bring the food to your table.
google avatar

Skyler P.

Yelp
First time here and got to try a mix of foods. Ordered a couple tacos and dishes. The tacos were something different that I've never seen before. Was told they were small but to my surprise they were a good size! They tasted good but a little awkward to eat as they didn't fold like a taco. The butter masala was delicious and had a mix of big flavors but the lamb biryani was a bit dry and lacked flavor. Naan was delicious! I'm a big fan of mango lassi's so it was great to see that. It was good but unfortunately was really warm. Service was great and it's easy to walk in and order. Ate there and I liked how they bring the food to you. Overall mixed feelings about this place. It's definitely more of a fast causal Indian spot with a few great choices. Might go back and try a couple more options.

Yelp
I was craving Indian food with a cute ambience and came upon this place while visiting the city. It is in a cute outdoor mall complex with an outdoor sitting area facing a fountain in a light up plaza. The food itself is reasonably priced for the portion, definitely Americanized Indian food (not as authentic per say) but I didn't mind as they had some of my favorites like malai kofta. My husband got the chicken tikka masala and really enjoyed it as well. It is very creamy, as often restaurant Indian food is, and if you are lactose intolerant, I REALLY recommend taking a Lactaid beforehand - first hand experience... Service was quick and easy. I would go again if I was in the area for sure! Don't expect anything too spicy...

Yelp
We rarely crave Indian food but this day was different! We always passed this restaurant so today we decided to try it. The food was pretty good! I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, spicy and my husband got the Butter Chicken. It was pretty good, I just wished mine had more flavor than it did. We also ordered the gulab and it was alright. I usually love gulab but theirs was not the best IMO. I love their concept when it comes to ordering though. Very simple and easy! I love the option of being able to sit outside and enjoy the weather, but the inside seating was great too. I just personally didn't want to smell like food so we sat outside. Overall we'll be back if ever we're craving Indian food again.

Yelp
The last chicken korma that got delivered to me,was of very poor quality. The sauce did not taste rich and nearly the same as in previous times. The prices have increased significantly, unfortunately, the quality has suffered tremendously. I am extremely disappointed with the food delivered today. it is very obvious they are using different cooks and not using the same quality standards as before.
google avatar

Jaslean A.

Yelp
WOW! So I'd like to start off saying being Indian I can be picky with my Indian food. Of course mom and grandmas cooking is the best to me. However, my husband was craving Indian and I found tikka shack nearby. I was so amazed and impressed with them!! The wings ARE A MUST!! BUT they are super spicy!!! So have extra water nearby I also loved my standard go to of the butter chicken masala. The lamb vindaloo was cooked perfectly- everything is pretty spicy- the cheese naan was only 1 slice I wish it was more but everything was Amazing and we will be ordering from here again!
google avatar

Audrey C.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my first time at Tikka Shack! Justice was so nice and helpful and she made our night! Will be back!
google avatar

Dana B.

Yelp
We love this place! Keep in mind that this is sort of a fast food type Indian place. It is not as good or authentic as the nice Indian restaurants around town. However, it's significantly cheaper and is still delicious! We usually order the chicken tikka masala or paneer masala with basmati rice. We always get garlic naan too. Their naan pieces are smaller than typical places, so we usually order 2 per person. The portion sizes are great and we've never had an issue with them messing up our order. It's definitely a regular place for us around town!

Mike S.

Yelp
Good Indian food if you are into spicy food. A 6 supposedly is medium spicy but is fairly spicy so go with the 2 and I like spicy food. The quality and taste are excellent.
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
Dude was eating naan with his fingers while preparing my dish. It was my first time ever going into this restaurant.

Yelp
Tikka Shack is a great little restaurant. It's a new concept for me: quick-serve Indian food. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. They are also open pretty late (until 10 pm on Friday nights, the night we were there), which is fantastic. Tikka Shack is located in Desert Ridge, close to the AMC Theatre and the pottery painting store (both landmarks in my world). I think they took over the old Panera location. They have a really varied menu. My boyfriend I both chose the "Craft Your Curry" option, where you choose your curry, pick a protein, and add on an optional naan or samosa. We both chose the korma masala. I went with shrimp and my boyfriend chose lamb. We both got a serving of naan. I went with the "shack naan," which is naan plus garlic, cilantro, and cheese. My boyfriend went with garlic naan. I highly recommend the shack naan. It was the highlight of my meal...so delicious! I could eat about 4 or 5 in one sitting! The portions were generous and the prices were quite reasonable. The rice was fluffy and perfectly cooked. I did not care for the shrimp. I was expecting more a "plain" shrimp and mine tasted greasy and overly spiced. It clashed with the korma. Next time, I will stick with the veggie option. My boyfriend loved the lamb and would definitely get it again. We would like to go back and sample the samosas, the tikka wrap, the vegetarian bowls, the tikka pizza, and the masala fries. The kids' naan quesadilla sounds yummy, too. I liked how two staff members (one was most likely the manager or the owner) stopped by to see how everything tasted and to get our feedback. We felt very welcomed at this establishment.
google avatar

Sharon T.

Yelp
My friend and I found this place before we even got to Arizona. Based on the ratings of all the Tikka Shack chains, we were both really excited to give this place a try. However, we were not that impressed. Since we both don't eat a lot, we ordered the Butter Masala + Chicken to share and 2 garlic naans (because we both loooove naan). Butter Masala + Chicken: The dish wasn't bad, but it was very mediocre. The chicken was also on the drier side, so it wasn't that pleasant to eat. The flavor was pretty basic, so nothing special at all. Garlic Naan: Again, nothing bad, but it was just so basic. You barely taste the garlic and the bread was super flat?? I don't know, we both were not impressed by it, which was pretty unfortunate. Overall, if you want a quick Indian meal, the chain isn't bad. However, for the food itself, I definitely had better. It's like if you wanted Mexican food, but went to Taco Bell or Chipotle instead--same vibe as that.
google avatar

Bunny G.

Yelp
No need to search for a busy sit down restaurant. Chicken Tiki Masala is always on Mr. G's mind so when we stumbled on this place after a search I was pleasantly surprised. Food was delicious! Order at the counter and sit and wait for your meal to be brought out to you. Grab a soft drink or my personal recommendation, grab a Mango Lassi while at the counter. Creamy mango and yogurt drink to help quell the spicy food your'e about to eat. Modern decor, good service, clean restaurant! Outdoor seating available. Located by the theatre at Desert Ridge outdoor mall.

Duy M.

Yelp
Went here for lunch and got recommended the tikka wrap with fries, I have to say it was my first time here and was surprisingly impressed, the staff was very helpful and patient, I'll be going back for sure!
google avatar

Yelp E.

Yelp
When you order a dish here , is there any kind of spice level that doesn't blow your face off? Seriously. I'm not really one to complain about spice and have a decent spice level tolerance. Tikka Shack gives 3 spice level options: "House, Hot, XHot." I guess ordering "House" does not equal "mild". My son , who has an incredible spice tolerance, could barely eat his dish. C'mon, tame the spice level down a bit. Even people who like spicy, can barely eat your food, Tikka Shack. I can no longer eat here as it tears up my insides and I think my tastebuds have burned off.
google avatar

Meily A.

Yelp
I've been a fan of Tikka since years ago when I first tried it at the original location in Lubbock. I wish some of the menu items from TX were here including their spicy chicken sandwich which was fantastic. I recommend going on Tuesday for Tikka Tuesday. They do it every first Tuesday of the month and you can get a good deal that includes tikka, naan and drink. This location is nice and you can walk around other shops. My only complaint and why I'm not giving them 5 stairs is that my boyfriend got the same as I but his plate barely had chicken. I hope next time we have better luck and both get even protein portions on our chicken tikka masala.

Lisa W.

Yelp
Taking a chance that Tikka Shack at Desert Ridge would adjust the heat level to mild for a couple of young senior ladies, we ventured in not knowing what to expect. A llarge attractive space next to Yard House with friendly likable staff invited us in and gave us suggestions on what we might like. I ordered a mild version of Butter Masala with Chicken while my friend ordered standard Tikka Masala with chicken. Neither of us was disappointed! we ate greedily and used a scrumptious piece of naan to soak up the sauce. We talked amongst ourselves while staff was available for questions. What a super find!
google avatar

Beachy K.

Yelp
Worst Indian food ever. Worst food ever! It smelled like cat food and the taste made me Gag. Never again.
google avatar

Gopal I.

Yelp
The food was spicy with no way to customize the spice levels. We ordered Veg Biryani, Chicken Biryani and a Veggie Bowl. The raita on the side is barely two spoons which is clearly not enough for the biryani quantity. The service was fast and the staff was friendly! This place has a huge scope for improvement!

Yelp
Been a fan of Tikka Shack since they opened but this location has gone way down in my experience. Luckily it's not my closest or they would lose my business. Im recommending people track, check & question their beer fountain spending at this location.. They sell beers by self pour fountain and charge by the ounce in 5oz cups, most beers are advertised as 45c to 47c and oz. but last night I got a 4.7oz pour of IPA at .47c an oz. The next SanTan IPA was out, but it dispensed 4.0 oz of foam. I reported this to the staff and was told they would credit me for that. I had another beer at 5.0oz. When I came to pay the manageress apologized and said she took off that beer but the remaining 2 beers came to $11.91. I asked for a receipt but they don't have itemized receipts for the beer. That's getting questioned with dept of weights and measures. When they were first opened I did have 'a lot of fun' when I first used the fountain my total came to $29... the cashier thought it was a mistake, but I'm used to paying large bar bills... now I think about it, that equates to 12 cups of beer. Now way did I drink that. So recommending you check your usages and charges. Secondly, when you order 2 of the same dish, they think they can charge $10 each for two dishes and put half as much in each. Pretty disgusting. The other veggie dishes I ordered this visit and the same order from other locations don't give you so little in the container that you see the bottom. Funniest thing is the registers and how they appear on your credit card statement, the business is registered as Dessert Ridge lol!
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
The best Indian food you can get at a Indian restaurant that doesn't have an authentic Indian restaurant vibe. I got the butter paneer with rice and shack naan. The food was terrific. Everything has a perfect taste to it. I liked the naan bread having cheese, it was different but a good different. The workers were friendly and patient during the order process. They helped me pick my vegetarian options and explained how even though some stuff didn't have a V next to it it was still vegetarian. I enjoyed my dish and if we didn't live in Mesa we would probably go here every single day for dinner. This will be our go to restaurant everytime we shop around here.
google avatar

Ali B.

Yelp
I love Indian food and had wanted to try this place for a while! Stopped by before a movie and it's not too bad! Very clean in here and nice staff. I usually go for lentil or chickpea dishes at Indian places, but I decided to give the Malai Kofta bowl a try. It was tasty but left me feeling a bit sick after, may just have been what I ordered. I also got garlic Naan that wasn't as good as I expected, but it's hard to mess up bread! Wasn't the best Indian I've had, but was what I had expected from a fast-ish food Indian place. I would not be opposed to returning!
google avatar

Barbara Y.

Yelp
The food was great. Especially, since it is a cafeteria type of restaurant. I had butter chicken and a delicious mango smoothie.

Bellana C.

Yelp
Delicious food for to go and sit down. I always get the original curry and it is always perfect. Clean restaurant and very friendly staff.

Sherry B.

Yelp
The food here is phenomenal!! The service is fast and friendly!! We love eating there!!

Thomas W.

Yelp
We did take-out servings of Tikka Masala and Aloo Saag. They were both excellent. They each had a nice kick at the lowest, "house," level of spice. The rice was good. We also ordered the special Shack Naan that got mixed reviews on our household. We will try other vegetarian dishes next time.
google avatar

Sundeep I.

Yelp
Honestly it's not very authentic. But who cares when it tastes great. Hygienic and an awesome place to hangout. I'm Indian and still love it despite the food not being authentic. Tikka's are my favorite followed by curries.

Nikki P.

Yelp
Curry was delicious ordering was easy great staff! Would come here again!! Ambience was effortless!

Sam W.

Yelp
Got takeout, Butter Masala was delicious! Shack naan as well. Would order again in a heartbeat

Ruby A.

Yelp
food is great as always, service was terrible. no one in line, just me. the two girls working just kept making eye contact and not helping me out. terrible customer service, especially someone who has experience serving. the only girl who was sweet was wearing a red sweater

Yelp
This was my first time ordering food from tikka shack and it did not disappoint. The menu is an interesting mix of indian dishes with a spin. ~ Masala Fries $6.50 fries with tikka masala, onions, scallions, tomatoes, cilantro covered in sweet and spicy secret spices. ~ Tikka Pizza $8 tikka sauce, garlic, fresh mozzarella, red onions, tomatoes on a Naan crust topped with cilantro. ~ kofta tots $5 tots with smashed potatoes, paneer crumbles, carrots, green peas, and cabbage ~ tikka wrap $11.50 naan with mozzarella cheese, onions, tomatoes & cilantro. ~ paneer taco $4 Seasoned Paneer, curry leaves, red hot yogurt sauce, butter masala sauce, mango de gallo, cilantro, hand rolled naan Food was fresh and full of flavor. The taco was my favourite i wasnt a fan of the kofta it was a little bland for my taste buds. what i loved most was the dishes have that indian kick in spite of not being your average traditional fare. All the sauces were spot on you can customise your choice of protein, add basmati rice or naan etc for extra $$ Definitely recommend can't wait to try other items from the menu Cheers!

Blake N.

Yelp
Butter Chicken was barely warm and got like 4 pieces of lamb even though they up-charge for it... not worth almost $15 for just 1 meal (no side or drink included).

Yelp
Very impressed with this location. I ordered from the website and it got made at a Shea location in Scottsdale. 20 min ride and the remade it in Desert ridge for me and adjusted the $ without a hassle. I mean it's harder to do this in a my popular fast food restaurant but these guys are amazing. And the Paneer Tikka pizza is just so worth it my kids love it and it's full of paneer on top. The southern curry is my ultimate favorite. I like it extra hot for the kick of spice. Best Naan ever!
