This is my favorite (go-to) Indian food restaurant in Boston! I have a very delicate palate & prefer authentic & real food- and the food gives authentic Indian! I love that they have fish options , mainly why we chose this this spot -I had the Fish(haddock) Masala, my partner had the Fish( haddock) mango, both were equally delicious 😋. In a world of fast & fake food, this spot is👌🏽! The food is delicious, the service was lovely, the atmosphere is positive and there's on street parking ! I highly recommend - esp for vegan /vegetarians 🤍

Walked by this place all the time and never thought to try Indian food in general. However, I came here soon after I tried Indian food for the first time a few months ago. I was sort of thrown aback by how small the dining room is compared to other restaurants up and down that same street, which tend to go way deeper into the restaurant. Regardless of space, I was ready to enjoy the food! I had to start off with a mango lassi, as is customary anytime I eat at an Indian establishment. It was really tasty, refreshing, and worth the price. I say this in appreciation of how the restaurant doesn't stuff the drink full of ice so you're getting a fraction of your actual beverage, it was ALL lassi. I went with a classic, butter chicken. It was juicy and flavorful. The sauce was lovely to pour all over my rice. My wife ordered the goat curry and she was enamored. The goat was the least bit gamey and extremely tender. I was excited that this place was so delicious however, I am kicking myself knowing I could have walked in plenty of times. I will continue to visit whenever I am craving lassi, naan, and hopefully a new favorite from their menu!

This was the hands-down worst restaurant meal of my life; the food was, quite literally, inedible. The samosas came sitting in a puddle of about half a cup of cold, sloshing orange cooking oil. The naan was burned black — to the extent where, when I opened the foil, all I could smell was burnt food. The tikka masala sauce was the consistency of water, and — to top off the single worst meal I’ve ever ordered — they only sent about a teaspoon of each chutney; the little plastic containers were 3/4 empty. Possibly the deplorable preparation had to do with the fact that I ordered it for delivery? I can't imagine that any restaurant would serve up half a cup of cold cooking oil, or burnt black naan, or teaspoon-sized servings of chutney, to people dining in person. Disgraceful.

Tikki Masala was our first introduction to what proved to be a foodies paradise in the great city of Boston. With family from Fall River, I thought that my nostalgia for New England was the root of my affection for this place. However, the approval from the rest of our ten group party affirmed that my affection was justified. Cannot recommend Tikki Masala high enough. The food was authentic Indian, the service exceptional and the atmosphere pure “whole in the wall”, “side of the road”, “diamond in the rough” perfection. Will make a point to visit again when back in Boston.

Google
The food here was very flavorful, the presentation was great and the chicken was cooked perfectly juicy and tender. The two main criticisms I have are that I ordered my meal medium spicy and my girlfriend ordered hers full spicy and what I got was not remotely spicy and hers was mildly spicy. I think the staff is used to people rejecting their food for being too spicy so if you like it hot you may need to really push the staff to make it hot for you. The other criticism I have was the garlic Naan was pretty sad. No oil or butter of any kind on it, with a few scant pieces of garlic that did not really come through at all. Other than those two minor things the experience was great and definitely worth going out for.

Google
Since their name is Tikki Masala (which is not an Indian dish, BTW), we decided to try Chicken TIKKA Masala and Aloo TIKKI Chaat. Aloo Tikkis - 1* Chana - 2.5* Aloo tikkis were dry and flavorless. Channa was decent. When you order chaat, be it samosa chaat or aloo tikkis chaat, you crumble them and add things on top. All they did was throw in 2 blobs of Tikki and topped with channa, onion & big chunks of tomatoes 😂 No chutneys whatsoever. I had to add my green & red chutneys, sev to make it taste better. Deep brand frozen aloo tikkis are miles better than this. Chicken - 1* Tikka masala - 3* Again, chicken was dry and flavorless. It's usually char grilled, this looked oven baked (I might be wrong). Tikka masala was probably the one thing that was good. Before ordering the food, I wanted to try so many of their dishes. Now, I'm not sure if I should.

We enjoyed the quality of the food and service. Veggie platter was very well made and crisp. My personal favorite was Veggie wrap that had chickpeas and tofu with the right amount and blend of spices. We also had biriyani, tandoori chicken and mango lassi which we enjoyed it.

Google
I stopped in for take out after a long day of work on Saturday 3/22/25. I wanted to try something different from my normal order, the young woman working the tables suggested the Korma. Best thing I did today was take her recommendation, it was exactly what I was craving! Thank you for making my Saturday night! I am sorry I did not get her name, but she was absolutely phenomenal!

Ashley A.

Yelp
Ordered the butter chicken and the pieces of chicken in my food were so massive took up most of the container. Flavor of the chicken and the sauce was mild. Ordered, garlic naan, and the naan bread was undercooked.

Yelp
I'm a Indian food connoisseur minus the breadth of knowledge--I just really like Indian food and Tikki Masala makes my tummy feel good. I went on a Monday early evening with a friend and we were the only ones dining in (they have about 24 seats), however a few people came in to pick up food. There were plenty of metered parking and Forest Hills train station is directly across the street. I ordered the Lamb Saag (Boneless grilled lamb cubes cooked with chopped spinach) over white rice and it was so good it made love to my stomach. I asked for the 'Hot' spicy level which is the 2nd spiciest level and it was a little spicy. I thought it would have been spicier, but I'm not complaining. I also didn't notice the spinich, could have been just me--not saying it was a pro or con. We also ordered naan bread which I would rate 4 out 5. Very good, but I've had better. Overall a great Indian restaurant and would visit more often if I lived in the neighborhood. Recommend!

Yelp
I am not picky about Indian food. I even enjoy those frozen Indian dinners and the packets of aloo choe that I used to buy at Star Market. But this is the first Indian food that I've actually not enjoyed at all. Food: tasteless naan: not done Did they send the chutney I requested?: No This restaurant and many other restaurants need to go on to LinkedIn and read "Give 'em the pickle". Because if you can't include two tablespoons of a condiment that I specifically requested that many restaurants include for delivery and in the restaurant for free, why is it consistently left out of my orders?

Gary D.

Yelp
I've had food from this restaurant many times. Usually quite good. This time was an exception. The dish was watery and not as flavorful as usual. I'm attributing it to the fact that it was a late order and they were about to close. But not as good as usual. Hopefully next time will be back to normal.

Jessica S.

Yelp
We ordered two curries and a daal. The dishes were really not tasty and extremely OILY (consisting of maybe 50% oil - see the attached photo!). This is the worst Indian restaurant we've been to.

Yelp
Best Indian food so the best service you'll see in Jamaica playing really good food balance

Yelp
If I could give this place 6 stars I would. Tikki Masala is hands down the most excellent restaurant I have dined in! The food is made fresh and authentic! Not to mention the delivery service is top notch. I am a tough food critic but this place of dining has Jimmy Rippa's stamp of approval!

Yelp
Simply put, Tikki Masala is one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. First of all, they serve the beloved north Indian street food dish pani puri (sometimes spelled poori), which is a favorite of my partner, who was born in India. The pani (water) was very tasty and just the right amount for spicy. The filling (consisting mostly of chickpeas and potatoes) was absolutely superb. We also had the Chhole Bhatture. This is the best I've ever had in the US outside my mother in laws. The gravy was not *too* thick and creamy as it is in many other Indian restaurants. Despite its name, Tikki Masala is quite authentic and tasty. I highly recommend you try it.

Yelp
The service itself is great. The APP I ordered through messed up, but the restaurant accommodated. The costumer service of the restaurant is amazing. Also, the food is very, very yummy!
google avatar

Myiesha A.

Yelp
Good food! Tried the tikka masala, butter chicken, palak chicken and samosa chaat. Everything was delicious. Wish the quantity was a bit more since it is pricey. The sauces with the samosa chaat were good. Would recommend!

Ashley W.

Yelp
My sister placed an order for delivery on foodhub, the app said our order was delivered but it was not. She called the restaurant four times, and instead of trying to resolve the issue or even answer her questions, the restaurant hung up on her repeatedly. It may have been an issue with the app, but still. Unprofessional and unacceptable lack of customer service.
google avatar

Shawn B.

Yelp
Used to love....but MICROWAVED FOOD. apps could barely be chewed yet were steaming hot. Malai kofta had no flavor yet selected hot spice. Papadum uncooked. Never will order again

Yelp
My husband took me out for a birthday dinner and I found this restaurant online. This is my new go to spot for Indian from now on! I had the vegetarian Tikki Masala and I substituted the tofu for paneer, absolutely delicious. My husband had the lamb Rogan josh which was very good. The naan bread was soft and fresh and my husband loved the tandoori wings. The service was great the chef and server were extremely friendly. It seemed like a very busy spot for takeout as well which is always a good sign. This place was a great find.

Yelp
I've eaten a lot of Indian food in and around Boston. I decided to try this place after spending the day walking through the nearby Arnold Arboretum. This place eschews the typical sweetness of Indian sauces in favor of a richer flavor. Generally, I'm not a fan of dosas, but the ones served here have the most amazing texture, crispy and chewy, with an excellent flavor on their own, even before the sambar and chutney.

Bridgette D.

Yelp
When I lived in JP this was a staple for whenever family came up. The food is absolutely amazing, now if I'm even anywhere near Boston I have to pick up some takeout. Huge servings so you get plenty leftovers for another meal or perfect to share- not that you'd want to give up a single bite.
google avatar

Anish K.

Yelp
Not a place that I am keen to try again. We ordered appetizers for take out and were greatly disappointed with the food. Tandoori chicken wings hardly had the spices as described. Was mildly spiced, dry chicken with cheese n sauce.

Yelp
Dinner this evening from Tikki Masala and it was okay. On a weeknight, I was the only diner in the restaurant though a few people did come in for takeaway. The restaurant is clean and tidy, comfortable seating and a nice sized table. A television on the wall is playing Indian music videos for ambiance. Service was good at the start with my order being taken promptly and my beer being delivered immediately. I had samosas to start - they were fresh and very hot served with a selection of pickle. Just as I was finishing my last bite, the main course arrived. A lamb jalfrezi was delicious with the right amount of spice. Flavorful and with enough lamb in there to keep it interesting. Several big and small bony pieces did need to be picked out but the onions and peppers were tasty and went well on the basmati rice. Garlic naan was excellent. Very nicely prepared, thin and crunchy and burned just right (no, in a good way!) from the oven. Yum! Other than getting the appetizer almost on top of the main course, the raita I ordered never arrived. It wasn't on the bill, so it was just forgotten. And getting my check did take a good long time. Enough so that I finally just went up to the register to pay. Summary... The dinner was good. I'd have a chicken dish next time though. The service has a little room to improve. Overall, A-OK.

Yelp
I chose Tikki Masala for delivery because of their menu. So I can't speak of their table service (although their delivery service was good). Let's get back to the menu. Here's what caught my eye. I ordered Pani Poori (street food in South Asia) more out of nostalgia than anything else. Sadly, it tasted bland. As did the Tandoori Chicken Wrap. Lamb bhuna, which I expected to be dry, was more like a lamb curry (tasted okay). The veg. samosas were too salty. Aloo paratha was also not tasty. Finally, by the description, I expected the Ras Malay to be homemade and fresh. It was neither. It was super-sweet (my teeth were melting). Clearly, I'm not a fan of the food here. If you've been to South Asia and want some authentic flavorful food from that part of the world, this is not that.

Yelp
I came here and tried the paneer tikki masala and the tikki masala bread basket. The spice levels are always subjective, so I asked what are their spice levels are. I ordered a medium, which wasn't that spicy. Next time I would get the extra spicy. The bread basket came with plenty of bread, the garlic naan was my favorite by far. The service was friendly and very prompt. Parking can be tough sometimes but that's typical.

Yelp
Tikki Masala is my favorite local Indian Spot in Boston. A solid 4 stars only because I have received a couple of orders that weren't consistent in flavor & spice but overall I really enjoy their food. When I think Indian food I always enjoy the spice but really it's about FLAVOR, depth of flavor and 8/10 times Tikki Masala delivers incredibly delicious & flavorful food. I especially like their Veggie or Meat Samosas. Shrimp Korma & garlic naan are my go to orders. As I mentioned sometimes the spice level varies but Medium spice usually delivers a nice kick. Definitely recommend and will continue to order from here anytime I'm Craving Indian Food.
google avatar

Jackie N.

Yelp
Still love this spot. So nice to have them so close although they are a bit pricey for full takeouts. I miss their buffet since COVID. So much more affordable with lunch buffet. My go-to order includes: Tikka Masala (my preference is w shrimp bec the chicken breast can be a bit tough), chicken Korma (tender), veg Pakoras (Samosas-a bit dry but still good). Basmati rice is gorgeously moist & aromatic. Only consistent negatives: 1. Every time I've ordered garlic naan, it is dry without flavor or moisture. There seems to be little or no ghee/butter on top & no garlic (not sure why they could even call it garlic naan.) I usually spread butter & fresh garlic or powder. 2. Raita is watery & thin. I usually have to add some yogurt from home to thicken (unfortunately than things flavor).

Yelp
Menu has nice variety, but be wary of delivery: the flavors were pretty solid, but everything was stone cold by the time it got to us an hour+ later (especially the fried apps, which were hard as a rock and mostly inedible). Note that Murgh Makhani contained something like 4 very large chunks of chicken which made it a bit harder to portion IMO- as compared with smaller but more pieces of chicken, which I personally prefer. Also, I find the prices to be a dollar or two higher than my other Indian go-tos with more quality/consistency- so I think I'll stick to my usual haunts.

Yelp
As any frequent reviewer of my posts know, I like to periodically (annually) re-review my reviews as things can change. Sometimes businesses close, get bad, or sometimes, better. This is one of those posts as we've been back here several times since my original post. Yes, I know I've been bad about checking in, but I just had a son, so I've been a bit busy. Plus, since the Pandemic, we've been getting deliveries from here more than actually picking stuff up. As I said in my last post, Tikki Masala is my family's go-to Indian spots. Unfortunately, I have not taken my normal crazy number of pictures, but that's mostly due to the fact that we've never actually sat down here to eat. Nonetheless, fellow Yelpers, I can assure you that this hidden gem will become your new favorite Indian restaurant. We've tried most of the appetizers and about six or so entrees. Each has been flavorful, hearty, and most importantly, this place listens to me on spice level. For some reason, most restaurants do not believe me when I say, max spiciness. I get it though, I'm sure that some people say that, and then complain about it being inedible. To those people, I hate you. Do not do that. If you get it, and it's too spicy, then leave a 5-star review because you could not handle it. It is just the right thing to do! Do not blame the restaurant for giving you exactly what you wanted. Anyway, I digress. Seriously, thank you Tikki Masala for actually listening to me because you made me sweat it out, which NEVER happens. Yet, somehow, not just a punch in the mouth. You guys were able walk that fine line of spicy and flavor. Again, thank you. So, would I recommend this place? Of course! Did you not read the review!? I don't know if it is authentic because I have no frame of reference, but Tikki Masala can hold its own with any Indian restaurant I've ever been to. Oh, it is right across the street from Forest Hills, and it's a great date spot (when in-person dating becomes a thing again). What are you waiting for, go get yo-self some!

Yelp
Wicked good saag paneer. Owner is a really nice guy.

Yelp
Tikka Masala makes amazing Indian food and has pretty quick delivery times. M and I tried the chicken tikka masala (figured you had to go with the namesake dish) and the lamb korma and both were excellent. You have the option to make each dish mild, medium, or hot. That said, I think they may have swapped my preferences because I ordered mild chicken and hot lamb and they DEF tasted like the opposite. Oh well, both were still fantastic. We also got some raita and garlic naan. The naan is great BUT for the price ($3 and change), you only get one piece of naan so it's not very much. Should be $2 tops. I used to live down the street from Guru the Caterer which is probs the best Indian in Boston and INSANELY cheap, so I'm spoiled. All in, dinner for two came to just shy of $50 before tip, but there's no delivery fee. Unfortunately, prices mean this will be an occasional takeout option for me instead of go-to.
google avatar

Nhi L.

Yelp
Tikki Masala is located on Washington street right in front of the Velo apartments. My friends and I ordered the non-veggie dinner for two, garlic naan bread, and a dinner portion of chicken tikka masala all with the spice lever medium. The food was all delicious and very hot. The flavor of the chicken tikka was so on point but the chicken itself was a bit tough. If it were a bit more tender, I'd give this place 5 stars.

Yelp
Enjoying some flavorful food at Tikki Masala. I would recommend. Great service and nice vibes.

Yelp
UPDATED - This place has become my go-to for takeout. Food is amazing. It has gotten even better in the last year. Tonight I tried Dahai Poori, and I love it! Chicken Tikka Masala rules, as always. Service is so friendly too. In my opinion, it is the best Indian in Boston.
google avatar

Shaquille A.

Yelp
Per my last review, I usually only order from here online, but finally made it into the store this past weekend! The inside is a bit small, but it's nice and cozy if you are going with a small party. The owner and all workers are extremely attentive and kind. The prices here are not outrageous and a dinner for 2 can fall well below $45. Recently I have been transitioning to a plant based diet and tried the vegetarian options, the tiki masala platter was full of delicious pieces as well as the yellow lentil entree. My friend also got the Tofu tikka masala and was very pleased. The fried tofu was amazing, that's the best tofu I have had so far and to be fair I have not had many, but damn was it good! Tried some of the traditional indian wines they had and those were tasty as well, I look forward to coming here again soon! Good prices, aura, and people!

Jack T.

Yelp
Nice menu and very good food at reasonable prices. Service was friendly and prompt. I'll be going back.

Yelp
Got a deal on grubhub so we ordered delivery to try it out. Will stick with our usual and never order from here again. Food is kinda bland, nothing extraordinary or worth the money. And the kheer is ridiculous. Watery, very little to none rice. Is this a joke?
google avatar

Tony S.

Yelp
Great food and great portions! I enjoyed a delicious dinner with my cousin who is local and my wife and myself who are visiting from California. We had Roti, Rice, Chicken Biryani, Saag Paneer, and my favorite.... Chicken Saag! I ofcourse finished my favorite chicken saag and "helped" my wife finish her chicken biryani :) I definitely recommend this place to all the lucky people in the area or in range to get takeout from them or get it via UberEats or GrubHub. But definitely eat in because the service and people there were amazing. Shout out to the chef for the bomb meal! Oh and btw, we are all Indian! So this has to mean something right? ;)
google avatar

Shannon A.

Yelp
This was a delightful find as a South Asian I ordered takeout. I'm Bengali and prefer my masala lighter on turmeric or curry powder, so the lamb chili masala was perfect for me! And the lamb was tender enough to eat with a fork. They were also able to make it very spicy without sacrificing great flavor. The meat samosa was nice, mild in flavor and mixed with potatoes(?). I am in town for work sometimes, and will definitely try to visit the restaurant next time!
google avatar

Andre J.

Yelp
Awfully rude and skeptical of their black patrons. Having witnessed how their servers hounded the couple for the checks immediately after being rude and condescending about explaining stuff about the menu and prices. Server almost did an eye roll. Witnessing this my server came over and said, "Are you ready to order we're closing soon?" Ofcourse I got up and left. I'm sure the lovely reviews are from seemingly well to do Caucasians, who ofcourse have no clue or any idea about the nuanced prejudices and discrimination POC face everyday. And ofcourse this happened when I was hungry and the last thing I needed to do, was upset the social order and upset the nice white people having there masala and having to face another stereotype of another angry black man.

Justine B.

Yelp
Honestly very disappointed as this restaurant had been recommended to me. I splurged on delivery. It was a sad dinner. The chicken in the chicken tikka masala was dry and flavorless. The sauce was very thin and watery, though flavorful. The garlic naan barely had any garlic. Worst of all, the rice was dry and clearly not freshly cooked. It tasted like two day old rice that had been sitting in the fridge.
google avatar

Jason A.

Yelp
I love Indian food. I love Indian food when it is made at a mom and pop restaurant. So I came into my visit at Tikki Masala with a great deal of excitement - and let's just sat that we left disappointed. We arrived as a group of 4 and ordered: - Lamb Biryani - Tandoori Chicken - Shrimp Saag - Lamb Korma - Naan There was nothing that we ordered that was flavorful to the group. We had a good amount of food left over and no one was interested in bringing this home. Disappointing quality for an $80 meal.
google avatar

Yelp
Ok I dont know why this place gets such high reviews at all. Palak paneer and chicken tikka masala were bland, definitely caters to those that don't like spicy food. India Quality or Kashmir is much better
google avatar

Zarin B.

Yelp
Got takeout from here (came close to 20 minutes late) and the food was still piping hot when I got home. Got the tikka masala nice and spicy, chicken korma, aloo paratha, chicken biryani, veggie appetizer platter, and gulab jamun. Everything was delicious!!! Probably one of the best Indian restaurants I've been to in Boston tbh. The prices were also cheaper than other restaurants I've been to, the total for allll this food came out to something like $58. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Jeff S.

Yelp
I love Indian food but options were limited in my neighborhood except for one spot for the longest time. That is until Tiki Masala opened up in Forest Hills. I go there once a week to satisfy my craving for spicy curry along with perfectly cooked garlic naan and vegetable samosas. Staff is friendly, food is amazing, and the mango lassis are so satisfying. And if you are a sucker for onion chutney like I am, this place makes the best, made fresh every day. If you like Indian food, you have to try Tiki Masala. It will quickly become part of your weekly rotation. And don't bother with the other Indian place next door. Trust me. There is no comparison. There's a reason why they advertise on Groupon which is a huge red flag.
google avatar

Margaret L.

Yelp
We enjoyed the food very much. I really liked the chickpeas with onion and cilantro. The butter chicken had large pieces of chicken in a medium spicy sauce. The ras mali was excellent. It hat almost a spongy texture and floated in a thick cardamom flavored cream. There was some confusion over our order as we had ordered through a delivery service. I'm grateful that the mistake was cleared up. The manager was extremely gracious about it. I look forward d to trying more dishes in the future!
google avatar

Matthew S.

Yelp
The prices have gone up and what I thought was a fluke the first few times turns out to be a legitimate problem: their Naan tastes pre-frozen. Just don't order it, especially for take out. The gravies/curries are still really good, but honestly for the price I feel the quality/portions could be better. Overall I wish this place good and want it to do well... it just seems to be mismanaged or something.
google avatar

Jackson D.

Yelp
Amazing food! First time having Indian food and was very impressed. Was worried about it being to spicy, but it was not. It was very good and will certainly be back!
google avatar

Tony S.

Yelp
This place is great -- I pretty much get an order of the same thing once a week which is the "Masala Dosa." These are a South Indian specilaty and are really, really delicious. The other dishes are mostly quite good as well, a couple of misses but not by much. The service is great -- always with a smile. In general you can tell the family running it really tries to please their customers.
google avatar

Krista R.

Yelp
No complex flavors here. We had four different entrees and all tasted the same to one another - watery, bland, and utterly lacking in every way. This is some of the worst Indian food I've eaten, and I'm disappointed this place has 4.5 stars. Absolutely will not eat here again.

Polo C.

Yelp
The best Indian Food around and the friendliest family that owns it. Give this place a try! You won't regret it.
google avatar

Akshay M.

Yelp
Hair found in the curry. The owner said it was the customers hair and did not accept that it was the restaurants mistake. He did not even apologize. I will never visit this place again
google avatar

Erica J.

Yelp
The food is very flavorful for a family style restaurant. We ordered our meals as hot and were glad we did. Our dinner right amounts of flavorful kick. We got a masala meal and a curry meal. Joey was sweating from the heat of the curry dinner. I feel like was eating a meal at a friends home. The dinner was flavorful and authentic, home cooking!
google avatar

Yelp
Great place with friendly staff. Always have good experiences here. Definitely the best Indian restaurant on the street and one of the best in the city!
google avatar

Vydesh R.

Yelp
Worst food. Biriyani was dry and smelled like turmeric... who puts capsicum in biriyani? Tikki Masala was made with century year old chicken... and we bet they got the Allo parotta from the frozen section of the grocery store. Good bye Tikki Masala!

Yelp
Went for buffet and utterly disappointed. Some will say "you get what you pay for" and I will agree with this statement to some extent. $12 for lunch buffet comes with super limited options with below average taste. For those who don't know what real Indian food really tastes, this place will be acceptable, not for me. Note:- My comment is limited to buffet only!
