Yelp
Well now.
It's back.
In a sense at least.
All of the BB enthusiasts are likely going to cry rapids of rivers and speak mountains of bitching about Til-Two just like they did for Scolari's and so many other things.
Looks like nobody wins these days. If someone does something great, apparently the older, cooler version was better.
I still like South Park, Zeppelin, and Pinky and the Brain. They are old.
Yet just because the Black Keys are getting famous does not remotely detract from the quality of the tunes.
It's not about how elitist it is. It is about quality. On Yelp, if you didn't know by now, I judge places based upon my personal experience. Not what the populace says.
This bar has some great things going for it. The sad fact is, you may no longer smoke indoors. (poof goes the 5 star review) Yet the ambiance, sound quality, drink strength, and overall sexy/cool/friendly vibe of the crowd hasn't dropped a notch in my book.
The decorations have changed. The vibe is the same. It's as if the Casbah has a little brother that is almost as excellent, only he lives in a different state. The staff was super friendly, attentive, hard-working, and skilled.
You wanted a drink? It's busy? Guess what. You got it, and quickly.
I am as thankful as a monkey in the bananananana fields of Hawaii that the current bar maintains the dedication to loud, live, unique, not-necessarily-successful bands as the old owners did.
That is all to say, if you weren't into the older bar, you may not yet grasp what you're missing out on.
Yeah. It's in the hood. Yeah you've gotta make the journey there.
Well guess what. Nothing great comes easy. Just go, rock out, check out the acts of the evening and consider yourself luckier for living in SD.
