I really wanted to like Tillys. The chicken looked incredible and smelled even better when it came out — crispy skin, great color, everything you’d expect from charcoal-grilled meat. But unfortunately, the flavor just wasn’t there. The skin had seasoning, but the meat underneath was bland and underwhelming.
To make it more confusing, the leg, thigh, and wing were dry, while the breast was actually juicy — the opposite of what you’d usually expect. I was also surprised to learn that the half chicken comes with no sides — fries were an extra $8, which felt excessive. For a place named charcoal chicken, I expected a bold, smoky charcoal flavor, but didn’t get that either.
Maybe it was just an off day, based on what others have said — but my experience didn’t match the hype.
