Tim Ho Wan

"Tim Ho Wan has played a major role in making Hong Kong-style dim sum popular in many countries worldwide. The main force behind such growing popularity has been its policy of maintaining the traditional form of Hong Kong dim sum dishes and making them available at affordable prices. This management philosophy has been upheld in its branches in Seoul, making them as authentic as the original. The franchise’s capacious Samseong outpost, which is also the main location in Seoul, can serve up to 110 customers at one time and offers ample parking spaces. It is the perfect place to indulge in a wide variety of traditional dim sum." - Michelin Inspector

I was excited to finally try Tim Ho Wan, but the food was very mid in my opinion. Their signature baked cha siu bao had a very sweet filling that it felt like the smokiness and savory flavor of the bbq pork was pretty lost/overwhelmed by the a caramel flavor. The bun itself was good but also quite sweet which made the whole bite a bit overpowering. The changfen was just decent/standard and so were the other items beside the dan tat. My favorite dish ended up being their dan tat which had a cookie type crust rather than the flaky pastry. The custard was smooth and not too sweet. It came out hot and was a pleasant dessert and finisher to the meal. Service was good, and there was a tablet to order at the table which supported multiple languages.

Most complete dining experience we had in Seoul. Staff was excellent, restaurant was clean and proper hygiene was being followed. What can I say about the food, we were both taken aback by the surge of flavors that we encountered. The dim sum dishes are top quality, with all senses being activated throughout the meal, from the immaculate fragrant notes of the beef soup and the pork dumplings in spicy sauce were to die for, every bite was a flavor explosion beyond comprehension. This is an experience, with quite competitive prices as well. Definitely pay a visit here, and be ready to order dish after dish, for this is the dim sum heaven of Seoul.

I recently visited Tim Ho Wan's Samsung branch and was thoroughly impressed. The dim sum was outstanding, with each dish perfectly crafted and bursting with authentic flavors. The BBQ pork buns were a highlight, crispy on the outside and tender inside. The fried rice was equally delightful, well-seasoned with a nice balance of textures. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, and the staff was attentive and friendly, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. It's a must-visit spot for anyone looking to enjoy high-quality dim sum and delicious fried rice in Seoul. Highly recommended!

The signature dimsum of Tim Ho Wan (Cha Siu Bao) was very delicious and the taste was just like the one in HK. The rest of the food was also quite solid. Not the whole menu one could tasted in HK was available here. The portion was small for its price. The food was served quite fast.

Tim Ho Wan isn't your average dim sum place; it's actually known as the 'world's cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant.' I believe it originated from Hong Kong. My wife and I are both dim sum aficionados, so trying out Tim Ho Wan was a no-brainer. We ordered many dishes, including the Baked BBQ Pork Buns, Shrimp Rice Rolls, Shrimp Dumplings, and Fried Beancurd Skin with Shrimp. Every item was top-notch, but those BBQ Pork Buns could easily stand alone as a Michelin-worthy dish. They were that good. We made a reservation for 11:30a and surprisingly found a lot of empty tables. Still, I'd recommend making a reservation if you're planning to dine-in; better safe than sorry, right? As for the service, don't expect much interaction. The focus here is clearly on delivering excellent food, and in that regard, they succeed remarkably. While it would be nice to have more attentive service, the quality of the food more than makes up for it. Would I come back? Absolutely. Esp if I find myself in Seoul again (prob next year). This place is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates quality dim sum.

Great dim sum. The barbecue pork buns are amazing. Not as many options on the menu as in Hong Kong, but still tasty and affordable.
