Tim Ho Wan isn't your average dim sum place; it's actually known as the 'world's cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant.' I believe it originated from Hong Kong.
My wife and I are both dim sum aficionados, so trying out Tim Ho Wan was a no-brainer. We ordered many dishes, including the Baked BBQ Pork Buns, Shrimp Rice Rolls, Shrimp Dumplings, and Fried Beancurd Skin with Shrimp. Every item was top-notch, but those BBQ Pork Buns could easily stand alone as a Michelin-worthy dish. They were that good.
We made a reservation for 11:30a and surprisingly found a lot of empty tables. Still, I'd recommend making a reservation if you're planning to dine-in; better safe than sorry, right?
As for the service, don't expect much interaction. The focus here is clearly on delivering excellent food, and in that regard, they succeed remarkably. While it would be nice to have more attentive service, the quality of the food more than makes up for it.
Would I come back? Absolutely. Esp if I find myself in Seoul again (prob next year). This place is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates quality dim sum.
