Google
The beef brisket empanadas as hot out of the oven. The dough is pizza dough so it’s like mini calzone. The pepperoni pizza was chewy, great, and just what I ordered with a double dose of pepperoni and cheese. Could have had more pepperoni but I love em. Staff are friendly. Food was ready in ten minutes. Located down in Ballston Quarter, the sound acoustics are awful so it’s really noisy. But the empanadas at 3 for 5 bucks or 6 for 10 are meaty. No other filler. They come with a pineapple zesty dip. Very nice.

Love it! Personal size pizza. Superb dough with a wood fire oven that gives you some char on the pizza! Kids love it too.

I had a taste for pizza and wanted to taste something different than what I typically try. The Green Monster was a nice alternative and I wouldn't mind eating it again. It was not a long wait. My food didn't seem to stay hot for long. I may suggest planning ahead as vendor prices range from $-$$. We opted to share it in our group along with other food from other vendors. The pizza ranged from medium in size and if I ate it alone, I would have leftovers. The Quarter Market was a fun setting with multiple seating options indoors and outdoors.

Went 1st time visitor Ballston mall shops. Place my lunch pizza order around 3:10pm. The place was empty and my order came out ready in 5 minutes. To my surprise pizza was delicious. Very thin crust. The dough is very good crunchy and the flavor and size was perfect for one person. For drink i got a glass bottled Topo Chico which was very cold. Everything was so good I went back to congratulate. For sure i will be returning. The only thing i asked was the white spots on the pizza and it seems is part of the melted mozarella. I tasted like cream not bad but they said they can remove next time.

I have patronized Turu's since they were mobile at the farmers market on Thursday's in Ballston and I will say the quality has diminished significantly...Pizza is TERRIBLE! I hope they take this review and decide to go back to what they are capable of...so disappointed 😞.

Google
Genuinely good. The dairy free cheese mixes with the sauce and olive oil on the Margheroni to turn into liquid gold, which is perfectly complimented with deliciously greasy pepperoni and fresh basil. I come to Arlington specifically for this pizza. It's divine ❤️

In the new Ballston Quarter mall, lives Timber Pizza. They offer a solid pie. The selection is limited which is nice. You can add and remove items on the list and the pizza is reasonable. Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz

Google
One of the best pizza delivery options in DC. The Bentley and pepperoni pizzas are incredible - I love the size of each pizza and the thin crust is perfectly done. I’m not one who usually chooses vegetarian pizzas but the green monster is delicious even to a meat-lover.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by this pizza place! I ordered the Margherita pizza, and my friend got the Bentley. While my pizza took longer than expected to come out, the staff was very aware and apologetic, which I appreciated. They were all super friendly! The Margherita pizza was a bit soggy in the middle, so I'm not sure if it wasn't cooked long enough, but the Bentley was perfectly crispy. Flavor-wise, the Margherita was enjoyable, though I wish it had a little more cheese. I ended up enjoying the Bentley more due to its crispy texture and subtle sweetness. Yelp
This Timber is hidden belowground in a mall food court, and lacks the charm of the Petworth original. The basic ingredients are the same, and there is plenty of quality there, Ordering a pizza with some Peruvian sweet peppers was wise; I don't know where you can buy those things but they are delightful. However, it was an awfully small pizza. My salad had some interesting puffed grains and was worth getting. However, I was not thrilled with the overall amount of food for the money. If you're in the area, sure it's a good pizza. But I'd rather go to Petworth or go somewhere else for a really top-notch experience.

Yelp
Decent inexpensive pizza. Came here after some disappointing bbq. Service was friendly . Food came out pretty fast. Two cheese pizzas about $22 or so. These are personal pan sizes. Very very thin crust. I would return if my kiddos wanted pizza and I was in the building.

Daniel T.

Yelp
4.5 stars! Had the margarita pizza here twice and loved it both times. Probably one of my favorite Neapolitan style pizzas in the area and very impressive that they are located in a mall food court. Tomato sauce was nice and sweet, the dough had the right crisp. Great service as well. The staff handed out free cookies to people in line. Maybe they made too much for the day/were closing soon? Either way, greatly appreciated. Will be back for more za!

Yelp
When I placed an order for a cheese pizza with no sauce and spinach, I initially wasn't expecting much in comparison to a lot of the other specialty white pizza's that I've tried in the past, but Turu's has mastered the art of simplicity when it comes to pizza. The crust on the pizza was delectably light and had just the right amount of chew in its bite! The cheese was wonderfully stretchy and not overly greasy. I would come back to the Quarter Market solely for this pizza!

Jasmine B.

Yelp
The pizza was pretty good! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The size is a good size for a personal pizza. The taste was yummy but nothing exceptional. The dough was a little too doughy for my liking; could have used a tad bit more time in the oven. I got a Pretty in Pepperoni and added mushrooms. Next time I will try their specialty creations!

Christina Y.

Yelp
So happy this place came in! Cheese pizza is superb especially if you like doughy pizza. It's a personal pan size so a bit small especially because it's so delicious. Will be a regular customer!

Mike M.

Yelp
Turu's is conveniently located smack dab in the center of the Ballston Quarter food court space. I got the Margheroni pizza (margherita pizza with pepperoni) and it far surpassed my expectations. They offer quick, individual-sized pizzas that are ready in five minutes. I expected a decent, quick bite, but I was surprised that their pizza is actually among the best in the area. I suspect that if I put it in a side by side taste test with Pupatella or Lupo Marino, those might win, but their pizza game is in that league rather than the typical quick serve league. They have bottle sodas sweetened with sugar cane. The service was very polite, and when they said the pizza would take five minutes, they were right. Five, not six. I also noticed that they kindly stayed a few minutes late when a little girl ran up a few minutes after closing really wanting pizza to make it for her. Solid team! It's hard to imagine how they could have been better!

Cassandra S.

Yelp
I was milling around the Ballston food court and the pizza smelled so good I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did! I ordered the Bentley which has tomato sauce, provolone and mozzarella blend, cured chorizo, soppressata, Peruvian sweet peppers, spicy honey. The sweet and savory combination is unbeatable. I want a whole jar of those Peruvian peppers! The pizza also came out quickly and service was fast. I'll definitely be going back again.

Aaron S.

Yelp
Located in the food court in Ballston...i feel like I shouldn't call it a food court, Its more upscale than that. Multiple restaurant space? Elevated food area? Whatever. Anyway, located where there's a bunch of other food options, I picked this place because they said it would take 5 mins for a pizza. I got the Pretty in Pepperoni and a san pellegrino. It didn't take 5 mins, it was more like 8, but still, pretty fast to get a pizza. Pizza was good, there was a decent amount of pepperoni to go around (lets say 3-4 per slice), lil bit of grease and decent amount of cheese. Cant go wrong with that.

Aarti B.

Yelp
Update: The wood-fired pizza has really gone downhill. The last 2 times hubby and I were here, the pizzas were heavily coated in grease. After 1 slice I threw in the towel. Not sure if the staff changed? We really enjoyed coming earlier this year with the convenient Ballston location and could save ourselves the trip into DC to Timber Pizza. Quality control has become a serious issue and we'll have to drive to Pentworth if we're craving pizza!

Andrew T.

Yelp
This is a great hangout place by Ballston Quarter. They have a great selection of pizzas and their service staff are very quick to get your order. Me and my wife tried the pepperoni (seen on the photo) and it was a lot of pepperoni. It was hot and fresh! Price was fair and you also get to experience the hustle and bustle of Ballston Quarter. You can take the pizza also outside and dine out. There are plenty of outside tables and a huge chess game on the floor. I would love to come back and try the rest of the pizzas!

Harpreet K.

Yelp
Yeah, it's too good to be TURU! We tried pizzas from their special menu for this Memorial day's weekend: Veggie Supreme La Chula Pizza The blend of Mozzarella and Provolone cheese on both the pizzas was EXCELLENT! Loved the flavor of Spicy Apple Sauce over the La Chula. Definitely enhanced the taste! SO GOOOOD! Definitely gonna visit again soon!

Lily H.

Yelp
Not great. Dough is dry, sauce is bland, toppings are barely there. One of our pizzas (basic margherita), the basil leaves were just tossed to one side of the pizza. Not even in the cheese, just an ornamental addition to one side. Guy at the counter told several of us he would call our names when ready. Never did, got up there and made a comment and his response was, they're all there, you have to come grab them. Not the directions we were given! Skip this place in Quarters.

Donale C.

Yelp
dont ever get pizza from them if you are at the city center. they dont cook the pizza all the way and the pizza will make you sick. my pizza was completely uncooked. they are charging $13.50 for uncooked pizza. the people holding the event at city center need to address this company before they get other people sick.

Francesca T.

Yelp
Located in the middle of the Ballston Quarter food hall. It is definitely a hot spot down there, they are always busy making those pizzas fresh! My son got his pick and got the Cheese Please. We all loved the fresh pizza. Big slices and foldable! The location is great since we can also check out the other restaurants in the food hall, or even take the food outside to the tables and little park area they have. My little yelper says "thats a five star pizza!"

Keisha L.

Yelp
Pizza, pizza, pizza!!! Turu's has some of the best pizza I have had to date!! Word to the wise, look at the whole menu and the specials before you order to make sure you are not missing anything or having an ah ha moment wishing you would of ordered something else. Your pzza of choice is made and cooked to order in front of you so you can see the process from start to finish. Watch them dress your pizza then slide it into the wood burning oven as your mouth waters with anticipation of the final product. The pizza was fantastic!! I am a lover of fresh mozzy on anything and my pizza is no exception. The pizza was pipping hot, the crust the right level of crispy and the cheese was melted, like melted melted. Playing it safe, pepperoni was the choice but I will be back to try some of the combos they have to offer. Staff was super friendly as everyone greeted you and all had smiles on their faces, you can tell they enjoyed the moment they were in. The wait is not overly long as they are super efficient and if you are unsure if you will eat it all in one sitting, get it to go so its already in a box.

Andrew H.

Yelp
I liked their pizza before, but I feel like it was just ok this time. The issue was it was so greasy. See the picture I have attached, I napkined the top part and you can see the greasy napkins.

Haley B.

Yelp
Seriously good pizza! I got the pepperoni without looking at all of their other options (one of which included spicy honey- I have to try that sometime). The pizza is cooked right in front of you in a wood-fired oven. The wait time wasn't too long. The pizza was hot and crispy. I will definitely be back to try another pizza (with that spicy honey ). I also got a salad (which oddly took longer than the pizza). I probably won't get another salad here. I got their fall salad which included arugula, shaved radishes, roasted sweet potatoes, toasted pumpkin seeds, za'atar and a beet vinaigrette. It was kind of an odd salad and had no crunch. Everything was kind of the same texture. I'm not sure toasted sweet potato is good on a salad unless it's countered with some crisp apple slices or something. I didn't really taste the za'atar. All around an interesting idea for a salad but I'll probably stick to the pizza next time!

Mischa J.

Yelp
So far I only tried their cheese pizza, but it was among the best pizza that I have had in a while. It tastes like a New York style pizza. The people who work there seem nice as well. Not to mention that they also have plant-based disposable plastic forks, knives, and spoons that are compostable (biodegradable)... and the napkin and wrapper are compostable as well. Anything that is good for the environment gets a big plus in my book! Even the water that they have comes in a compostable container. I may try some of their other pizza flavors in the future. Update: I tried their pepperoni pizza, and I was just as satisfied!

Yelp
Turu's is to Timber Pizza Company as Adonis is to Drake. When I found out about their love child popping up in Ballston Quarter I knew that I had to check it out and pay tribute. The menu is quite edited here but luckily they have my two favorite items the Green Goddess and the Bentley on the menu (pro tip: you can go half and half on the pizzas). I asked for a to-go box but I quickly regretted wasting so much cardboard because this literally is the perfect personal pizza size. I ate the whole thing and didn't feel like I needed to unbuckle any notches on my belt afterwards. Service is friendly and the pizza is perfectly wood fired and tasty. The only way to improve is if they added some of their famous Call Your Mother bagels to their breakfast menu. Smell ya later!

Mark V.

Yelp
Pizza was bland with no flavor. Basil on side, not cooked with pizza. Missing pepperoni. Staff was nice. Would not spend my money for this low quality of taste again.

Anna D.

Yelp
Excellent ingredients make excellent pizzas. You can taste the difference! They don't skimp on the gourmet toppings. They are the best at hand tossed and artisan crafted pizzas! The crust is sturdy to hold the toppings but not too thick or chewy and is soft and actually makes me enjoy it. The sauce is the perfect amount and has a nice robust flavor. Simple menu, simple ordering and ready so quickly. Perfect price point that won't break the bank. The staff is amazingly friendly and efficient. Definitely will continue eating here!!!

Lia M.

Yelp
I enjoy Turu's, which makes sense since I love Timber. I typically get the cheese pizza and add kale, green peppers, and basil. I love that they offer vegetable toppings. The pizza is always tasty and it's usually ready fairly quickly, which is appreciated. Glad to have a good nearby pizza option.

Emily G.

Yelp
First time trying Turu's and it was great quality! We ordered several pies for a work event. I tried the cheese pizza, veggie supreme, and the La Chula (pineapple, sausage, jalapenos, white cheese, other ingredients). The tomato sauce was super good, and overall was delicious. The crust isn't super crunchy but it was good enough to hold its own. The cheese was delectably melted - great ratio of sauce to cheese. The slices were rather small and I felt like if I were hungry enough I could eat a whole pie on my own.. (or at least split a pie with one other person), although I'm not sure if you can personalize sizes. Regardless, it was worth it and I'm a fan!

Ryan C.

Yelp
Knowing this place is an offshoot of Timber, I had to try this place. Really hard to miss since it has a huge neon sign and the large pizza oven in the middle of the floor. It's a pretty condensed menu with 4 of their regular pizzas and 1-2 specials and also 1-2 salads. Went for the Bentley because I had it before at Timber and I loved it. The process was super fast even though there were a few people ahead of us. The pizza is in and out of the oven in what seems like seconds. It tasted great obviously. Was spicy and sweet and the crust was perfect. Not too charred and was almost like a cracker. One of the top Neapolitan pies around. Only thing is I would avoid this place during the lunch rush because It's swamped during lunch. I went late afternoon on a Saturday so it wasn't too bad.

tiffany t.

Yelp
Tried their pepperoni and the green monster. Ohhhhhh it was yum! Green monster - The crust was delicious and had the pesto and feta on the green monster was just delightful. Only on was just it could have been just a bit more saucy. 5/5 would recommend! Pepperoni- same comment on the sauce but it was a solid pizza.

Anh N.

Yelp
I decided to try Turu's for the first time and ordered through the caviar app. Pizza didn't take too long and arrived warm. I'd recommend they apply a sticker or something to seal the box to let us know it wasn't opened or tampered with during delivery. Pizza was pretty good. Not greasy at all and the crust was fairly light. I'm not the biggest fan of provolone cheese, so next time I think I'll try another pizza. But, it was still quite tasty!

Chenée T.

Yelp
I'm happy that Turu is still doing pickups and delivery through the Caviar app. If you haven't been able to go up to Timber pizza in Petworth, definitely check out its cousin Turu in Ballston. They have a fairly limited menu but you can't go wrong with any of the personal size pizzas you choose. I chose the green monster that has a pesto sauce, kale, mozzarella, and zucchini. It made me feel like I was being healthy while eating pizza. Just a note about the personal size pizzas. They are being enough to theoretically split between two people but only if you have a supplemental side to accompany the pizza. Otherwise I recommend getting one per person if you're feeling pretty hungry. Make this place one of your staples during the quarantine!

L S.

Yelp
If you have Celiac like me, please don't eat here. The gluten-free crust was too crispy on the outside while soggy and not fully baked on the inside, but that's not the worst part. Somehow the tomato sauce BURNED while the crust was soggy. I thought the slices tasted weird and I figured, "eh, I just don't like the way they do it, it's not my thing," but on the second to last slice I couldn't get over how little sauce I was tasting so I pulled back the cheese and found the layer below was black. Just totally charred, burnt sauce. I'm going to assume positive intent and that it was horribly burnt tomato sauce because the other alternative of it being mold is even more horrifying. (It didn't look like mold; I really think it was burnt tomato sauce but I'm only about 85% sure of that.) Now, not every slice was as horribly burned as in the pictures, but the non-burned slices had barely any sauce left. It's almost a joke to say it had tomato sauce. In short, I wouldn't go back again. Even if the burnt tomato sauce was a fluke, the crust was soggy and the semi-burned and non-burned slices hardly had any sauce.

Gretchen F.

Yelp
You wouldn't normally expect much from a food court pizza joint, but as you probably already know if you've been here before as Quarter Market is hardly a normal food court. Turu's serves up fresh, delicious, artisan-style personal pies and after one experience I'm a huge fan! With a daughter named Penelope, I had to try their Penelope pie which came topped with pesto, mushrooms, bacon galore, and fresh melty mozzarella. It was delicious and I essentially inhaled the entire thing (my 2.5 yo pizza namesake happily demolished her slice, too!) I also got to try the plain cheese pizza which was bright and very tasty as well. Looking forward to more wood-fired deliciousness at Turu's in the future!

Jacob C.

Yelp
Just tried Turu's for the first time in a while. It was delicious. We had the Bentley, the Green Monster, a cheese pizza, and a pepperoni pizza, and all were very, very good. I especially like the little red peppers on the Bentley (my wife added to her Green Monster as well. We will definitely be back.

Annie T.

Yelp
Turu's By Timber Pizza was a fine decent pizza, but for the price point I expected more. I ordered the Penelope pizza, which had bacon, mushrooms, fresh mozzarella, pesto, and smoked paprika. It smelled amazing and I was expecting a flavor bomb of flavors. The slices felt flimsy and it was a bit soggy. The flavor combo was surprisingly mellow. I needed to add Parmesan, oregano, and garlic salt to punch up the flavor. For a 10 inch pizza to cost $16 after tax and tip, I was def expecting more. The crust was def tasty, not to hard and a bit chewy. Maybe I didn't order the right combo of flavors, but I wasn't wowed. Or maybe I need to try the OG location, Timber Pizza to get it right. With all the food options at Ballston Quarter, it'll be a while before I give Turu's by Timber Pizza another shot.

Frank K.

Yelp
Seeing that Timber Pizza Co. has a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide, I knew I had to check this spot out. DC in general has a dearth of good pizza places, so any place that's highly recommended is worth checking out. Unfortunately, I haven't yet had a chance to visit their parent location. One thing I immediately liked, which I think is crucial for every good pizza place, is that a regular cheese pie and a pepperoni one are the first 2 things on the menu. Places should be judged on how well they do the classics, so it's nice seeing them take that to heart. There's also a good variety of other toppings which really interested me. They allow you to do half-and-half style pies, so I opted for half of the Bentley and half of one of the specials (I forgot what it was called but it had pulled pork, caramelized onions, and peppers). Overall it was very solid. The spicy honey on the Bentley was probably my favorite topping, but the special was great too! Other than Wiseguy (which I think serves the best accessible pizza in the DMV), this place has some of the best pizza around.

Mo D.

Yelp
Excellent pizza, excellent location in the heart of Ballston quarter, very polite staff and fast service, being a former chef and pizza chef myself who moved from NYC to Arlington, I would tell you it's not easy to convince me of a taste of two things : coffee and pizza, so by far this is one of the best pizzas I've had in the DMV area, thank you guys will be back soon.

Jean L.

Yelp
I confess I had low expectations of this pizza place because it was in a basement food court. However, while eyeing the beautifully melted cheese and slightly blistered crusts that were emerging from their seriously huge pizza oven, I decided to set my prejudices aside and give Turu's a shot. We ordered a pepperoni pizza ($11) and a cheese pizza ($10). Let me just confirm that prejudice is stupid! These pizzas were delicious. The sauce was appropriately sweet and acidic, a perfect balance to the creamy cheese (which included both shredded mozzarella and hunks of mozzarellaz). Each pie is enough for one hungry person. The only issue i had was that some of my slices were a little too burnt on their undersides-- the crusts were perfect, but maybe they need to clean out the oven or something to make sure less charred cancer-causing bits don't affect the bottom of the pizzas. Beyond that, though, the dough had that wonderful soft mochi-like texture of a great Neapolitan style pizza.

Priscilla T.

Yelp
4.5 stars! Really excited that Timber Pizza opened a location near me since Timber is quite far. Not sure if a personal pizza is really worth $12, but it was still pretty good. Recommend get half of one flavor and half of another! Pizza comes out pretty fast and fresh. They were cooked perfectly. Love the soft, but also crispy texture. I got the Bentley and the Green Monster. So I ate the Bentley first which was delicious, but it was a little salty. Eating the Green Monster after made it seem like it was a bit bland. My friend ate the Green Monster first and then the Bentley and had the opposite effect lol. Both were still pretty good, but I totally remember Timber Pizza being more delicious. I will still come back when I'm craving some pizza in the area!

Katie B.

Yelp
We loved their pizza! This was our first time trying it and will definitely be back! They have some interesting toppings but we had the original pepperoni and loved it!

Monica G.

Yelp
Friendly staff! Great customer service! Nicely structured and decorated! Tasty pizza!!! I do however wish they served ranch and had more drink options. Other than that I really enjoyed it and can't wait to return for more!

Saara Z.

Yelp
Just really really good pizza. Not too greasy, thin crust, great cheese. Used to dine in more before covid but now use DoorDash for delivery. Delivery was very easy - you can even add other toppings to their standard pizza options. Very happy to have Turu's in Arlington.

Renee Angela P.

Yelp
Personal pizza's are exactly what you should get at Turu's. The 10-inch pizzas are enough to fill you up if you're really hungry and enough to save half for dinner if you're not. The Green Monster is delicious. The (vegetarian) pizza has kale, mozzarella, zucchini and a pesto base. It's what I get every time but I have heard good things about the pepperoni-tomato Bentley. the pizzas here are thin, so if you're not into it, don't go here. The folks are nice and the service is as fast as possible, barring lunch rushes.

Irene H.

Yelp
Ordered a Margarita but it came out like this: basil on the side?!. I didn't order a complicated pizza, literally just tomato sauce, cheese and basil but it still went wrong. Very disappointed. Please improve your quality control

Justin S.

Yelp
After trying (and loving) Timber Pizza a couple weeks ago, I thought I'd pop in Turus since it is much closer to home and the seating is much easier. Perhaps my expectations were set too high from Timber, but to me these are two completely different places. Turu's pizza didn't have nearly the same taste and the pepperoni did not have the basil leaves, leading me to believe the pizza recipes are not the same. There were some other noticeable difference (pizza thickness, sauce taste, crust taste), all of which were subpar to Timber. I don't think I'll be a repeat customer but at least I now know that these two establishments are not the same.

Jennie K.

Yelp
I was so happy to walk by a pizza joint that was located in the Ballston Quarter mall. I ordered a half cheese, half pepperoni pizza- they are personal pan size, take less than 10 minutes to bake and the employees are so approachable and friendly! The menu doesn't necessarily have the option to do half and half but if you ask, they will be able to accommodate! The pizza dough was delicious, the pepperonis are cute and tasty, and the service was efficient and awesome! I am definitely going to come back to try some other items!

Amanda K.

Yelp
Bottom line: Pizza done right. The hype is accurate. Thinner style crust. This location seems to only do personal size pizzas. I've only heard good things about Timber Pizza, and the hype is well founded. I had a simple cheese pizza with mushrooms. All of the proportions are perfect between sauce, cheese, and crust. The crust is on the thinner side but doesn't get soggy in the middle - it's perfectly cooked. The cheeses on the pizza are high quality - they actually have flavor and are not your standard types of mozzarella. My partner had the green monster, which had feta, pesto, kale, and chicken sausage. I loved the red sauce on my less exotic pizza but this pesto pizza also had high quality ingredients and a fantastic balance of flavors.

Sea B.

Yelp
Undercooked. Crust was floppy/soggy. Guessing the guy was rushed? MOD is better, ho there.

Nikita D.

Yelp
Amazing pizza spot in Ballston! I love Timber Pizza, so when I found out that Turu's was opening I was ecstatic! The menu is limited, but the options available are quality choices! Last time I ate there I ordered the Green Monster and enjoyed every bite! The staff is so friendly and the wait isn't too long. The portions are pretty large (I couldn't finish an entire pizza in a sitting so I was happy to feast on my leftovers the next day)! This is probably one of the best pizza spots in Ballston, so I highly recommend!

My first bite rolled my eyes back so far I saw my cerebral cortex ,cheesey goodness dripping out the sides like sex mmmm. No slices though. so bring ya appetite or some empty tummy loves to have some group action on this pie. ByYyye!
