The Best Korean Restaurants in the East Bay | Eater SF

"For a broad selection of Korean classics, you’d be hard pressed to beat the variety and quality at Tin and Pig. You can get a big order of bossam (steamed pork belly and various veggies to wrap it with), which is something that is well-suited to take out as it doesn’t need to be piping hot to enjoy. You can also go to town on their chicken gizzard dishes and selections of jeongol, which is a Korean-style hot pot. Call in or order via DoorDash." - Noah Cho

Google
Great food selection in a definitely hip Korean restaurant with a cool decor with tin walls and little street feel with tables in little private booths. Parking is a little dicey on this side of Telegraph but it is Oakland. I would say food is definitely on the pricey side like your typical Korean joint but the portions are great. Soups are really good and they don't skimp on ingredients. We had a rice cake soup as well as Kim chi pancake and bulgogi. Mandoo is was good too. The Korean side dishes were fresh. But definitely cost was up. Still I recommend going to go drinking and a good time. Chicken was decent but I wouldn't say the best Korean fried chicken I've had. Probably needs a little more sizzle to the seasoning. We got the sweet and spicy but next time will try the garlic soy

Google
Covid-Take out friendly! Totally delicious. Both the traditional wings and the boneless chicken were super juicy and flavorful. Banchan (side dishes) were so good and a must order in my opinion. Shop surprised us and threw in a coke and side of dumplings too! Really can't recommend this enough.

Google
Came on a Friday at 6:45pm, party of 4. We were the only people at the restaurant until close to 8pm, that says something. Food was average or below average. I had it bookmarked for the wings, maybe in the past this was a good spot. Now, we were totally underwhelmed, really nothing to write home about. What is worse, they were $27!?! Go somewhere else for good wings. I had the brisket ramen, and it was bland. I really wanted to like this place. I was disappointed that I suggested to come here.

Google
Absolutely great spot for solo dining. I had the ramen, fried squid and strawberry yogurt cocktail. The ramen was delicious and came with several banchan options and the strawberry cocktail was so strong it almost knocked me over ! 9/10 only because the fried squid was a bit oily.

Google
Such a good atmosphere that really feels like Seoul in terms of the aesthetic. On top of it the food is really good. We had the budae jigae and kimchi fried rice and it was so good.

Google
Solid Korean food. The fried chicken is flavorful and not greasy; the kimchi pancake is one of the best I've had. Spicy rice cake was just a tad sweet for my taste, but overall good. Portions are generous, too.

Google
Love this spot. The food is incredible an the portions are huge. Great for larger groups of people. Definitely get the fried chicken.

Google
Our favorite Korean in east bay. Their fried chicken and tteokbokki are the best we’ve had from more than 10 restaurants in the area! The vibes are fun for a pregame or date night with the booths in the front and the kpop is always a vibe! Their kimchi fried rice, seafood pancake, Korean style ramen, kimchi soup are some of our favs too

Yelp
Korean comfort food that is delicious and warms you up. Great place for groups or just for some great food Was quite sad that Ob town closed but the Korean fried chicken here rivals pretty hard, would recommend. Rice cakes w/ ramen also really yummy, good balance between sweet and spicy. Beef kalguksu warms you up and every bite of the noodle is different. Parking only on the street, be vigilant and don't leave your belongings in the car (you should never anyway!)

Yelp
Called in for takeout late on a Saturday night. It was 11:30 PM. Surprisingly, the restaurant was completely empty. I thought there would be more people hanging out here! Not too familiar with Oakland, but maybe it was a location issue? Anyways, we called and had an estimate of 25 minutes, but our food was ready in 15 minutes. Going inside, paying and checking out was easy. We specifically wanted bossam. We also got the tteokbokki. Service was quick and friendly. At home, when we started to eat, we wish the bossam had more cabbage than the portion of steamed napa cabbage they gave us. The sauce flavors were good though and they gave us some banchan. The tteokbokki was tasty. We were also able to takeout some makgeolli since the H-Marts and other Asian grocers were closed at this time. All in all it got our bossam fix taken care of.

Yelp
My favorite favorite comfort / late night food has to be Korean food! It hits even more different after coming straight from a Kpop concert that ended super late. We came around 11pm and left shortly after midnight. The staff was super nice and didn't immediately kick us out when the clock struck 12, he allowed us to take our time with finishing our meal which I really appreciated. The STAR of the show here was the Military Stew. SO yummy, hot, fresh, and it hit the spot after being freezing cold at an outdoor concert with a sore throat. 10/10 freakin recommend!!!!! I also liked their chicken as well. The soy was my favorite between the two (we got the half/half plain and soy garlic). Overall, I would return back to this pocha again for a late night fix. I also love the vibes and set up of this place, it really feels like I transported to a pocha in Korea with the way the booths are setup!!! Great vibes :)

Yelp
I had the place pinned forever! I had a craving for tofu soup & thought this was the perf time to try it out a new korean spot. TL;DR: everything was average - neither bad experience nor bad food + Casual pub environment with semi-private booths + You get banchan, but it is non-traditional + Big portions - Lacking flavor - Just average in comparison to all the great Korean food just on Telegraph -- Parking was easy. It's between Temescal/Downtown area. There's a lot of street parking just be cautious of your valuables. We came on a Saturday night around 7pm. It wasn't busy & we were seated immediately. Service was quick and friendly. Food: Ban chan consisted of sweet cubed potatoes, bean sprouts, cucumbers, kimchi & mac salad. (3/5) Spicy bulgogi with rice was decent and came with an egg (4/5) KFC was half plain & half garlic soy. Chicken surprisingly had boneless aka tenders. (3.5/5) Spicy tofu soup with beef. There was no non-meat options. It was filled with hella veggies: cucumbers, carrots, and onions. I was looking for a traditional one with none of that. It had a good spice. But the flavor lacked depth, it was pretty bland. (2/5) Corn cheese. This was a winner! (5/5) I really wanted to like it but they have stiff competition just on Telegraph in Temescal alone. The food didn't hit. But it was a great environment!

Yelp
Overpriced and Porno Palance (Dan Sung Sa) is way better. Service was rock bottom terrible and they don't even have a button to press for attention. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't good enough for me to want to come back. Cool name of a Korean restaurant but if you want some damn good Korean fried chicken, especially after drinking, I recommend elsewhere.

Yelp
Whoa! This place is the spot for some delicious korean food! Be warned, the neighborhood is really sketch. Felt like my window was going to get broken in just to dine here, but it mightve been worth it. Once you step inside its a completely different atmosphere. You get individual booths to sit in. Very much like a speakeasy for korean food. We got the usual banchans, rice cakes (cant go wrong), korean fried chicken and some cut up pork dish. All of which were delicious and enjoyable. The pork was my first time trying such a dish. Not sure how to descibe it other than it was paired with other garnishes in the dish and very enjoyable to eat. I recommend getting it for the table. Now parking. Yea, we didn't have issues finding a spot though the parking situation is kinda sketch here. Overall, its a delicious place that would I love to go back again if I could volunteer a friend to drive!

Yelp
Had a solid experience at this late-night Korean spot. Despite the sketchy exterior, it's a legit joint once you step inside. The vibe is casual with kpop and millennials and mostly a younger crowd. Loved the semi-private booths for a bit of privacy. Decent offering of classic Korean dishes. Opted for Bulgogi and Kimchi with pork soup, served alongside rice and Ban Chan. The Ban Chan included Mac salad and potatoes, which are yummy and not as common. The Kimchi was on the milder side and tasty. Not everything hit the mark -- the Kimchi and pork soup were somewhat bland, and the Bulgogi was average, almost supermarket quality if I'm honest. The rice was also on the watery side. It could be an off night, but just being honest. Kudos to the friendly, attentive staff (two guys that night), who were on top of things despite some of the food letdown. Still had overall a solid experience, and I would consider returning for the wings and spicy tofu soup -- hoping for a tastier experience. Late-night Korean cravings? Give it a shot when you're hungry and seeking a laid-back dining spot.

Yelp
First timer, Tin & Pig is def serving up some authentic Korean food. The ambiance was great the meals are extremely hearty but also pretty pricy which is why I took a star away - not saying it's not worth it but it could be a tab then again what's not now a day's. I'm a huge fan of Kimchi Stew this one had pork in it, very rich & comforting on a rainy night served with a side of rice. Def enjoyed it. Got the sweet & spicy wings & the plain wing's I wanted the sauce on the side but it's $3 to have the sauce on the side which kinda confused me? Regardless packed with flavor and fried to perfection. The bulgogi w/rice & egg which is semi pictured could honestly be skipped on. It was good but it didn't stand out to me. Def wanna try hot pot going back. Over all the customer service was great, the gentleman who served us was very personable & he checked in but also gave enough space for us to have a conversation. Hopefully you guys enjoy this place & try it out :)

Yelp
Came here on an early weeknight because we were craving some heavy korean food and this place delivered. We got: 1. Garlic soy fried chicken - really yum and they gave unlimited radish which is a favorite of ours 2. Spicy rice cakes with ramen - so heavy but soooo good 3. Seafood pancake - quite large Honestly these items were so much for 3 people that we had to pack some to-go. The ambience is definitely more gastro pub-y but because we came early, we didn't get that "bar" sense. The service was also super fast because we were early and the waiter was very kind if refilling our banchans!

Yelp
I absolutely love Tin & Pig. We've tried their fried dumplings, ramen, tteokbokki, and our favorite - the fried chicken. We've had both take out and dine in and the food was perfectly cooked each time. The service was quick and not overbearing, they'd be there for anything we'd need. The restaurant itself is laid back, they've got booths that give you some separation from other diners and gives a more intimate feeling if you're dining out with friends. I highly recommend this spot, everything I've had has been amazing and it's easily one of my favorite restaurants in Oakland!

Yelp
Was such a fun time at Tin&Pig The food and service were great, I would highly reccomend the half and half chicken to get the spicy sweet and soy garlic, I thought the texture and portion were both great. The corn cheeese was super pulley and well flavored with little bits of garlic, but I would say that I would switch out a few of the banchan. The music and ambiance was fun for an afternoon early drink (yes we shared an CL Terra...) and chicken pairing. Overall I would come back to try more of the menu with more people!

Yelp
Ordered take out sweet and spicy chicken from Tin & Pig a few days ago. Ordering online was super easy and picking up was equally seamless. There was easy parking out front and food was ready when I arrived. I wasn't super hungry but was craving fried chicken so got the sweet and spicy fried chicken. The sauce on the chicken was tasty and the chicken tasted fresh. I was pleasantly surprised to find that some pieces had bone and others were boneless. This worked out nicely because I prefer bone in but my partner does not. Chicken portion was decent but only comes in one order size which feels pricey at $30; the chicken does come with a small side of coleslaw which is nice. I will likely order from here again to try some of their other items. Especially since the service was friendly and so quick! Next time, I will dine in so I can take advantage of the free corn cheese with Yelp check in too! Looking forward to it!

Yelp
This is one of the top Korean restaurants in east bay in my opinion. Their fried chicken and corn cheese are my top picks here and better than the other places nearby. It's crispy, fresh, the batter is light and the glaze for the soy garlic wings is flavorful and not sweet like some locations. I had wings from another place that just tasted like high fructose corn syrup with soy sauce and this is not that. The restaurant has booths and plenty of seating. I highly recommend this place and the service is also great.

Yelp
This place is a diamond in the rough. Truly. Corn Cheese Fried Chicken sweet/spicy & garlic soy Bulgogi Kimchi fried rice Banchan Grill Beef brisket Grill pork belly Soju & Sake

Yelp
Update: This place is even better the second time we went. Still sketchy outside but once inside it's def a vibe and love the service button for whenever you need to be helped!
google avatar

Yelp
Good, hearty Korean food and cool vibes. I ordered the bulgogi and egg over rice, and it was quite good. The meat was a bit cold and I wish the texture was a little better, but hey--it's bulgogi and egg over rice! Flavorful, delicious and filling. The drab outside of this place also really doesn't do the interior justice. There are rows of cool booths that give you a sense of privacy, and the purple lighting is pretty neat. My friend and I also enjoyed adding to the chain of soju bottlecaps hanging from the ceiling. Overall, this is a hip spot with good food. It's a bit pricey, but the food and the vibes are well worth a visit. I recommend it!
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
Super fun korean bar vibes here! I loved the lights and intimate seating areas they have, but the food was just okay. I had to send my soondubu back because the egg was completely raw, even after the soup finished bubbling. It was so strange because the pot seemed hot and bubbling on top but the inside was not fully hot. There is a small selection of banchan. I'd come back to drink and hang out, but I wasn't super impressed by the food.
google avatar

Elia A.

Yelp
First time here...honestly we were a little concerned due to it looking closed and the outside in general of the location. But don't let that fool you because the food and inside atmosphere here was great! We ate everything down to the last bite! Extremely delicious food. Our waiter was extremely nice as well and gave recommendations. Will for surely come back again!
google avatar

Sundiata A.

Yelp
The waiters were so nice and friendly. I love the privacy of the booths to focus on your group/date. I recommend the green onion pancake with hot sauce. It's delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
Hole in the wall Korean (duh) spot with delicious food and wide variety menu. Ranges from hot pot to Korean fried chicken to bulgogi rice dishes. Had the spicy pork with egg over rice and shared a seafood pancake. Portions are generous where if you finish everything, you'll be a bit uncomfortably full but if you try to share a main dish you'll probably still be hungry. Great service. Street parking. Don't leave anything visible in your car. No wait on the weeknight we went.
google avatar

Solon M.

Yelp
We ordered the army stew, rabokki, pork bulgolgi, and fried chicken. The army stew was perfectly spiced and had a variety of ingredients including spam, sausage, mandu, and ramen. It's pretty expensive but can easily serve 2-4. In the rabokki, rice cakes were nicely cooked and the dish packed a lot of flavor and spice. It came with fish cakes and ramen, which were both good along with the spicy sauce. The pork bulgolgi was very flavorful, a bit too salty which is why I recommend getting some rice. The korean fried chicken was very crispy, and the soy sauce glazed velveted the pieces. The portion size isn't too bad either. Overall, I recommend this place for anyone who wants good korean food; I definitely recommend going with a group so that you can order a bunch of dishes and share everything.
google avatar

Yelp
Really cool atmosphere and the food smells so good. Got some take out so cant wait to get home and dive in. Authentic in every way. Hidden gem for sure.
google avatar

Zack S.

Yelp
Its the fried chicken for me! Great food and really friendly service. Lots of options and they're open late! The service is very friendly and the booth atmosphere makes it feel like you are just with your friends at a hole in the wall spot. Really authentic and a real good time. I drive 40 minutes to eat here! Worth it every time.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible service, food, ambiance, and overall experience. Ordered takeout right as they opened on a Friday evening, so it wasn't busy at all, but people started trickling in soon enough. Staff were super friendly (gave me water and extra utensils while I waited), and food came out on time. I had no idea that a single order of chicken (plus $2 for banchan) would be so huge! They really go all out with the banchan--I counted 8 side dishes and 2 sauces. For the $24 I paid (chicken combo with beer, plus $2 for banchan), it was good to feed probably 2-3 people entirely! I hauled this hefty boi over to San Francisco to meet up with friends for a picnic. An hour after I had received the food, the chicken was still crispy yet moist, the beer was still satisfying, and I was the happiest clam at the park. The quality of food was incredible, and each banchan had its own unique flavor. I appreciated that they also had a fruit salad to end the meal on a sweet treat! Cannot recommend this place enough for the friendly service, quality food, and delightful banchan. Can't wait to come back for both takeout and dine-in.

Yelp
My friend and I went on a Tuesday evening! This is my second time at Tin & Pig and we decided to go with their kimchi fried rice and sweet & spicy fried chicken! There was available parking in the front and we called ahead for pick up! Once we got there, it was fast and easy to get our order! They even added a free sprite and a corn & cheese! Sweet & spicy fried chicken: 5/5!! Boneless, saucy, and yummy!!! Kimchi fried rice: 5/5!! Personally, I love spicy things so this could've been a bit more spicy for me, but it was still so flavorful! Overall, it was a really good pick up experience! I am definitely coming back when I'm in the area!

Josh L.

Yelp
They charged us for an extra bottle of soju and soda when we clearly told them they charged us extra. They told us it was a refund amount but after we paid they refused to listen to us about these extra charges. As a Korean who is from Korea, FUCK THIS PLACE. Take your business elsewhere. Don't get fucked by these low lifes. They are nice but they're always trying to take as much money as possible.
google avatar

Evan P.

Yelp
Not sure which is better their food or ambiance/decor. They have these small booths for parties of 4 or less plus a large room for larger parties. It's a great place for a date, dinner, or late-night drinks. I love their yogurt soju drinks. I always order the fried chicken. Their corn cheese and fried squid is amazing. Their side dishes are my favorite. (Though I miss them adding blueberries and apples to the macaroni salad) 10/10 The tuna and pork is a gem. Crossing a bridge or sitting in traffic is worth it. If you're not looking for ultra-traditional Korean food, you won't be disappointed.

Rhea S.

Yelp
Came here with a group of 6 on a Friday at 7:30pm. I made a reservation about ~2 hours before bc its small, but it wasn't insanely busy (although the man on the phone did say they only have 4 tables that seat more than 5 people). The place was super cute! I love that we had our own sectioned off area. Service was super slow, but it was alright given we were planning on sticking around for a while. We had to flag a waiter down twice before they took our order. We ordered the Spicy Rice Cakes w/ Seafood, Corn Cheese, Kimchi Pancake, Military Stew, and Garlic Soy Chicken Wings. We also got a pitcher of the Strawberry Yogurt Soju which was good, but you couldn't really taste the yogurt. Corn cheese & Kimchi Pancake were pretty standard. The pancake was super crispy, but I wouldve like a a little more kimchi flavor. The spicy rice cakes and military stew were absolutely delicious and super filling. Additionally I would totally recommend the Garlic Soy Chicken Wings if you don't have a high spicy tolerance as they were super flavorful, moist and crispy. Overally, I felt like the quality of the food made up for the long wait time, but if you're in a rush this is probably not the best place for you. Would definitely come again!
google avatar

Yelp
Delish Korean food! Perfect for groups to share yummy dishes! Their fried chicken is a must and the portions are big and meant to share! Free corn cheese with yelp check in. The ddukbokki is so good and once again very filling for a group. I also love the refreshing radish and cabbage as well. They also have great drinks too
google avatar

Yelp
Covid boredom and hungry? I loved this place before covid and loving this place during covid. After a long day WFH, I was craving a cheat day and opted on some Korean fried chicken. This place has the best in my opinion. Chicken is still juicy and flavorful. You would think takeout makes it soggy but the double fry makes it perfect. For $20 for half/half, this place is worth it. Came with pickled radish, cheese corn, cabbage salad and dressing (plus a coke). Side note the army stew is amazing and feed 3-4 people.
google avatar

Rachel K.

Yelp
I've only been here once and I've only tried one thing - the Korean garlic soy fried chicken. This one dish alone warrants a 5-star review. The chicken was perfectly fried and crispy, big pieces of chicken, and a good portion size. For 2 people, we had leftovers the next day. The lady packaging our order was so nice and sweet. We visited near closing time and she packed extra banchan for us, as well as a can of soda on the house. I definitely need to come back and try more things on the menu.

Yelp
I have this place bookmarked for the longest time and was FINALLY able to try it out! I had takeout with several items but the items that stuck out to me the most were the spicy and sweet fried chicken, seafood pancake, and the bo ssam. Spicy and Sweet fried chicken - For some reason I was expecting wings, but I actually prefer eating Korean fried chicken this way. The whole chicken is fried and cut up so that you don't only get the wings and drums, you get the whole thing! The sweet and spicy sauce was more on the sweet side than spicy. However, it was still delicious as well and tasted similar to the Chinese sweet and sour pork ribs. Seafood pancake- they give you A LOT! The whole pancake was huge and we only finished half. The batter was nice and fluffy and there was definitely plenty of seafood in the pancakes ranging from octopus to some shrimp and squid. They also give you a vinegary dipping sauce as well that was also delicious. Bo Ssam - This was decent. It's boiled pork and they give you a ton of banchan to eat it with. However, it was still good and it didn't have the usual porky taste to it that you usually get when you eat boiled pork. Overall, a good place if you want good Korean comfort food!

Yelp
i had heard quite a lot about this place from friends before so it was always on my bucketlist to try it one day. as someone who LOVES bossam, i was excited to see it on the menu, along with a variety of other korean foods like korean fried chicken, korean pancakes, and stews. the inside of the store was very charming, with each table in its own cubicle, creating a cozy and intimate environment. i could definitely see why this place would be a hit for late night drinking and snacks! the server was also very attentive and sweet throughout our entire visit. -- -- -- pictured: " bossam ($35) // if you're not familiar with what bossam is, it's basically pork shoulder boiled in a spice mixture and eaten with an array of side dishes. when my mom made it at home, we ate it with a spicy radish and raw napa cabbage. however, at tin and pig, it is served with a pickled napaand a spicy mix of chives and onion which was new for me! in my opinion, the bossam was a bit too fatty compared to the other ones i've had before but the flavor was pretty good. overall i would say it was average in taste but not sure if i would order it again. " seafood pancake ($20) // i'm torn on this one. firstly, it was HUGE, so definitely something you can share with friends. with that being said, i thought it was too thick and not crispy enough, for it broke apart every time i tried to grab it with my chopsticks. the vinegary and soy sauce mixture paired nicely with the pancake and i appreciated the huge chunks of seafood in each bite though. -- -- -- i heard that the owners changed recently and i wonder if that has anything to do with the food we received and the mixed reviews i saw on yelp . however, I wasn't too blown away by the food here :( but loved the ~vibes~.

Yelp
Best Korean spot in Oakland. Ambiance is great as well. Quick service as food came out in minutes!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. Came here for a early valentines date with my boyfriend. It was an incredible experience. The meat was tender and had even marbling. Very reasonable pricing for the quality of meat you get. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. I like that this place offers private booths. I felt very comfortable and overall it made the experience worth it. Definitely would come back. 10/10 experience!

Yelp
"Inchon, Korea, 1950. I was the best cook Uncle Sam ever saw, slinging hash for the Fighting 103rd." - Frank Costanza, Seinfeld Da Scene - My girls wanted KFC, not the "11 herbs & spices" kind. Trusty Yelp! gives us some options and I make 7:30 reservations, coming from Pittsburg, we should make it. Just off Telegraph & MacArthur, it's a bit of a street scene but scored a spot right in front. You open the doors into a literal oasis, scent of things to come wafting in the air, cozy dimly lit booths set the stage. Da Grub: Seafood Pancake, Garlic Soy KFC, Beef Soon Du Bu, Bulgogi & some cold beer. Menu is quite varied while not huge. Ban Chan of 6 dishes was perfectly adequate - kimchi was excellent, had 3 dishes, refilled promptly. Quality ingredients and plentiful portions, we took boxes home. Looking forward to a return visit to try some table cooking (grill or hot pot) and a different flavor of KFC. Loved every savory dish. Da Service: Friendly attentive staff, only had to hit "the button" once, else was tended to quickly for beer & ban chan refills... dishes came quickly, if in odd order (pancake last?). It's a Korean Izakaya, lots of grubbin' dishes, beers, sake & soju cocktails mixed in. Do a bunch of small plates or bigger dinner, you can't go wrong. ONE THING for your customers... maybe add some descriptions for the more unique dishes, I'm pretty adventurous, but ordering Military Stew or Clam Soup without a hint on the preparation is iffy... we wanna know?!

Yelp
Such an amazing hole in the wall! I came here on a Friday around midnight, and we accidentally drove past it because the signage was so small. Be careful in the surrounding areas since this part of Oakland isn't the safest. The moment I stepped in, I knew it was legit because it was filled with Korean customers. Of course, Black Pink was blasting from the speakers. Service was prompt, and we had a good time. Everything we ordered was delicious. The garlic soy kfc was very tender and juicy on the inside while hot and crispy on the outside. The stews seemed like a popular choice amongst the neighboring tables (the spicy brisket soup we ordered was quite tasty). Basically, this is one of those places you WANT to bring your friends to for a late light munchie because everything is really good and fairly priced. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Update: I've been going here for a long time and the quality and service of this place has gotten so disappointing. Service is disorganized and food, banchan, and drinks do not come out in a timely manner. We didn't get side dishes until the food was almost done and they are so stingy about serving more. We go there often and in a large group and have been trying to find other places to go. It was a favorite place for awhile and in the past year or so, I feel they are taking advantage of their customers. Automatic 20% gratuity for bad service is not justifiable just because there is a large group. Soju options are good and food is also very good, a rarity for bars. I recommend the sweet and spicy Korean fried chicken, bossam, and cheese corn. Army soup aka budaejjigae is good but the peppery flavor is stronger than I would like. They do not have fruit sojus (li, only fruit flavored sojus.

Yelp
Upon first bite, Tin & Pig immediately replaced another popular eatery as my favorite KFC joint. The chicken had a great crunch and a tender, juicy interior. The seafood pancake was humongous and densely packed with chives (assuming you like that). I was pleasantly surprised by the numerous banchan, as most Korean restaurants are less generous with takeout orders. Overall, 5/5 would definitely order again!

Yelp
Solid 4 stars. Better than dan sung sa. Soondubu - 4 stars. Good flavor and spice and good portion of tofu. The bowl of rice was on the smaller side, and also only white rice, but cooked well unlike Dan Sung Sa. Knife cut noodles with seafood, made spicy on request - 4 stars. Decent spice but wish it was still spicier, though happy they accomodated! Flavor is pretty good, noodles not bad, but some did clump together - not too hard to separate it myself though. Decent amount of seafood came with it. Nowhere near as good as the place I go to in LA, but hey this is solid for the Bay Area! Banchan execution was better than dan sung sa also.

Yelp
Really cute restaurant with booths and corrugated tin walls and the best japche I've ever had. I can't wait to go back and try everything else. Worth it.

Yelp
My friend and I ordered delivery and we got pork hock, garlic soy fried chicken, and glass noodles with beef. Overall everything was pretty good. I like that there's non spicy napa cabbage kimchi. The fried chicken's soy sauce flavor was just a tad too much for me. In the noodle dish, there seemed more of other items than noodles, not that that's a bad thing. The pork was fatty and delicious, especially with the savory and spicy add ons.

Yelp
Pretty decent Korean Fried Chicken. Corn Cheese was also pretty solid with nice burnt cheese bits. A bit pricy though overall, but most Korean places are like that nowadays. A good spot for drinking too it seems.

Yelp
Immediately in love with this place! Everything is in large portions and none of the dishes let us down. The fried chicken came in with both boneless and bone-in. The meat was tender and juicy. Seafood pancake was a little bit on the softer side, but I still enjoy it a lot with it being packed with seafood. Kimchi fried rice was great! Pork hocks were ok. Overall, this is a nice Korean restaurant that I would highly recommend.

Yelp
Came here with my girlfriend and another couple after rock climbing in Oakland at around 5PM on a Saturday night. Back in my school days this used to be one of my go-to destinations for Bossam and Korean Fried Chicken! This was my first time coming in a couple years so I was looking forward to the food. There wasn't anyone in the restaurant yet at 5PM, so we were promptly seated and my group and I ordered 2 items + a hotpot to share. This is what we thought of the food! - Seafood Pancake: This was sadly a miss, simply because they undercooked the seafood pancake. The outside had a nice crispy to it, but when we attempted to actually grab it the pancake just completely fell apart. This made it almost comical for us to eat, since we were spending a lot of effort just to pick up all the pieces of the pancake from the sizzle plate. The flavor was alright, but unfortunately this wasn't as good as most seafood pancakes I've had at other places. - Garlic Soy Sauce Fried Chicken: The chicken was perfectly cooked, which was a saving grace. However, again the sauce was just... okay. It had a tinge of saltiness from the soy, and a hint of garlic as well, but overall the sauce could've had a lot more flavor. The bits of dried parsley on the top of the chicken didn't help either. Overall, I thought there were some missed opportunities in this chicken, namely the flavor of the sauce. Ah, if only the sauce had been righteous enough to accompany the juicy chicken... - Kimchi Pork Hotpot: Reasonably sized hotpot that was filled with kimchi, ramen, some dumplings, rice cakes, and pork. The flavor was pretty good, although probably could've been a tad more spicy. There was way more kimchi than pork though - we only get about a small bowl's work of strips of pork in there, which isn't much considering the dish costs $38.00. However, the hotpot was filling and did indeed fill us up and leave us satisfied. At the end of the day, my memory of the food at Tin & Pig from 2-3 years ago definitely did not match with the food we had recently. The chicken was cooked well but the sauce was a bit bland, the seafood pancake was undercooked and falling apart, and the kimchi pork hotpot was decent buy skimpy on the pork. The banchan was alright also - small and didn't really stand out. Don't get me wrong though, if you're looking for some filling Korean food that will leave you full and satisfied, as well as a restaurant with a nice intimate vibe, then this place will stay do the trick. However, I do believe the food quality here has gone down a bit, possibly due to Covid and the impact that it's had on many restaurants. I genuinely hope that the food quality to go up to where it used to be, because I believe with some small changes and a little more attention to detail this place can become a go-to spot for Korean food again. One saving grace at the end of the day was our waiter - she was extremely kind and gave us fast refills on our kimchi and water. I might come back here in the future to see if their Bossam is still good, but other than that might pass as there are other good Korean options in the area.

Yelp
Honestly, I don't what has happened with Tin & Pig. Did they go under new ownership? They went from being our favorite Korean fried chicken joint to the worst. We got the fried chicken half original, half soy/garlic, and fries. The chicken tasted like it was from a frozen package and it was insanely fatty and oily. It used to be extra crispy all around and cut into perfectly small pieces. Now it tastes like the chicken you would get at a stadium. We are just so disappointed. The quality is nothing like it used to be, it now leaves a lot to be desired.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. Wasn't too busy, we were seated right away. Parking was easy, right outside the restaurant. We got the fried chicken with soy garlic sauce and soju combo set. We also ordered the seafood pancake and corn cheese (comes free with Yelp check in). Fried chicken was alright. Really saucy. I needed rice to balance out the sauciness. Probably would go for the dry fried chicken if I come back. I felt that the portion of chicken was very little for what we were paying. Seafood pancake was very eggy, kind of like a seafood omelette. It was good, but wasn't what I was expecting. Corn cheese was basically what it is. Corn and cheese. Glad it was free. Hahaha Service was good. The waiters kept asking us if needed anything. I felt like they were bored because they came around so often! Food was just alright. Probably wouldn't be back.

Yelp
It's important to note that this food f-ing amazing. I was introduced to this place by friends of my wife and it didn't disappoint. Every single dish was amazing. The rice cake with noodles (9/10), kimchi fried rice (9/10), and their fried chicken (10/10). I would absolutely recommend everything I ordered. One more thing...the restaurant is a cool vide. Yelp
Small place but good food and nice servers :) Food: We got the seafood pancake, sweet&sour kfc, and rice cake w cheese. The chicken was super good and honestly better quality than ob town. The pancake was on the softer squishier side than crispy but it was still super delicious. Also, if you check in on Yelp, free corn cheese that was super tasty and savory. I highly recommend the kfc and I will be back to try the other items. Service: super good service. the servers here are super attentive and always brought us refills for our complimentary side dishes and this is a huge plus since most Korean places I go to don't bother refilling side dishes Ambience: personally I liked the setting of the place where there are walls between booths so you don't really have to see other people and it gave it a more romantic private feel
