The flavors are amazing and truly reminiscent of Southern Vietnamese cuisine. I especially love the Chả Cá Lã Vọng, which uses mắm nêm instead of mắm tôm—this unique twist is fantastic. The char-grilled BBQ pork in Bún Thịt Nướng and the Bún Chả Hà Nội with meatballs are also excellent. While the dishes are slightly sweeter and have more pepper compared to authentic Hanoian tastes, overall, I love every dish.

Ordered the Bahn Mi (5 spiced chicken), seems like one of the popular dishes. I stumbled upon it while looking for a place to grab a quick bite! It was a fairly quick walk from work, conveniently placed an order, and quickly got out with my to go food! The place was buzzing but service was fairly quick, not much wait time at all. As for the Bahn Mi, flavorful, refreshing. I will definitely go back to try other dishes!

Delicious food without the inconvenience of a long wait. They were pretty busy today, but we got our food quickly. The portion sizes were great and the food was delicious. I suggest you order ahead, because there is no indoor dining. They did have 2 chairs in the waiting area. Great experience with the staff. I definitely recommend you try this! 👍😋

I have eaten here since it opened. Great food, good price and excellent location. I usually get the lemon grass pork bahn mi or rice plate which are about $15. 5 spice chicken and pork belly are also very good. Lots of food! Service is extremely fast and it is good quality.

Great, quick spot for lunch! There is no seating but there is a nice park a short walk away as well as plenty of benches to sit on in the area. I got the 5 spice chicken noodle bowl and it was amazing. Will definitely come here again.

Delicious Grilled lemongrass pork bahn mi. Got there just before they opened for lunch. First one to order and it took a few minutes since they grilled my pork upon ordering. Rough cut pickled veggies. Fresh, soft French roll bun. I will return to try a noodle bowl or rice wrap.

This place is my lunch goto. Great Vietnamese takeaway, with most selections available as a bahn mi, bun, or over rice. Super fast turn around, friendly staff (even when they're crazy busy) and high quality ingredients.

4.5 stars. Got Tin on Kearny delivered to the office for lunch. Ordered the 5-Spice chicken rice plate. Chicken was juicy and flavorful. Portions were more on the generous end as well which is always a plus. It looks like a great place for lunch especially for those who are in downtown in office. Would definitely come back and try something else like their Banh Mi!

Had Tin for lunch during my visit to the city in the office. I ordered the lemongrass grilled pork banh mi and the vegetarian spring roll. Got delivery and it was still very delicious. Highly recommend their banh mi and taste very comparable to the local Vietnamese places! Will order again

Lemongrass chicken vermicelli - 3.9/5, SUPER flavorful! Lots of chicken thats well seasoned over vermicelli and some veggies. Chicken was tender. There wasn't too much lemongrass flavor unfortunately. Only issue is that it was a little too salty, my tongue started getting numb. I would like to go back and try the five spice chicken, but I'm a bit afraid of the salt.

Not the cheapest Vietnamese, but what they have going for them is flavor, flavor, and flavor. I've had the pork and the ribeye, both are great, but the ribeye--whether over rice or bun, is outstanding. I don't get to go in as often as my office is no longer a block away, but when I'm there for a visit, Tin is always high on my list. Helps to order in advance and then pickup because there's always a line.

What a lucky find for me in FiDi. I initially was in disbelief that a decent banh mi would be available outside of the Tenderloin or Little Saigon in the South Bay. I didn't have high expectations because many places downtown that offer banh mi's aren't necessarily good in my opinion. We ordered the pork belly and the lemongrass pork bahn mi's and it was surprisingly delicious. The french roll was crispy, the pork belly was just a bit fatty with a slice of pate. The lemongrass pork was equally flavorful and loaded with pork. Both sandwiches were generous with meat. I noticed that the vegetables on the sandwiches were thinly sliced instead of traditionally shredded. It's pricier than most banh mi's, but for the taste and amount of meat, it was worth the $13 price tag. Other places in the area charge similar range, but does not taste as good. The house made aioli sauce was particularly nice--great flavor. The service was excellent, our sandwiches were made promptly. The only downside is that there is no inside table seating available and is takeout only. I definitely need to come and try their other menu items, but for that, I would prefer the option of inside seating to enjoy. Worth checking out of you are in the area.

Definitely pricey for a bahn mi compared to other spots in the city - however, Tin still gets a 5/5 because it is so delicious! Their flavors are incredible and bahn mi are quite big.

Fast service that's friendly. I always come here for lunch during my work break. Definitely one of the more underrated banh mi in the city. I can justify its price because they LAYER that meat. And I can't have enough pâté so they satisfy that. Get their sandwiches!! Not pictured in my review is also their Tin rolls. I have never come across a spring roll like that, with bbq pork and egg? It was tasty and pretty good portion if you're looking to share with a friend. Too bad they don't have seating inside the restaurant but the ambiance is chill, basically it's big enough for groups to wait for their orders. No waiting outside in a line! They are responsive on the phone, so look into calling in your order for pickup if you need your order quick.

Definitely one of the nicer hole-in-the-wall food spots of the area. There's no seating or tables to have your meal as dine in so take out is the only option but the food truly makes up for it. Came right before the lunch rush and ordered a Ribeye Banh Mi and Thai Milk Tea. Both were extremely flavorful and well prepared. The sandwich was fully stacked with fresh and tasty ingredients. And the thai milk tea was tasty and neutrally sweet to pair with the sandwich. Highly recommend giving this place a try when in the area. Certainly satisfied my vietnamese food craving.

Omg customer service is perfection! I chose a meal I saw on here on Yelp and wanted it. I didn't get both of the workers name but they were so helpful and gave the best recommendations on what to exactly order. The bun boa with the meats had so much flavour. I will be getting it with rice instead of the noodles next time to see which is better. I will be most definitely coming back!!! There's just nowhere to sit but it reminds me of NY/DC so didn't really bug me.

I had been to the other Tin location before which is a dine in restaurant, but I liked that this one was take out because it's perfect for getting lunch during the work week. It's located in the heart of downtown, which makes it easy for people to get here if they work in downtown. There's no place to sit down inside, which means that there's a large area to stand at while you wait for your food. There's a crowd during lunch time, so expect to wait a little! I ordered the Banh Mi, and it was enough food for two meals. Taste was pretty good too. There were limited options for drinks - no water, only soda and Thai tea, so I got Thai tea to have something to drink while I ate my sandwich. I would come back!

I just had their 5 spice Chicken Bahn Mi, and it hit the spot. The portions are generous, the chicken was crispy and still juicy, very well seasoned. The pickled carrots and onions are spicy and still have that delicious crunch. Fresh cucumbers and jalapeño and cilantro. Soft and yet toasty bread. This was such a well distributed sandwich the bread to meat to veggie ration was perfect. The service was friendly quick and efficient. Kitchen is very clean ! Definitely a must try if you are in the area and want a great lunch at a great price. Don't forget to tip your servers because this food is made with love!

My favorite bahn mi spot in sf! I come here so often during lunch break to the point where it's an internal joke at work. I recommend the grilled ribeye sandwich but honestly everything on the menu is . The sandwiches are pretty large and filling. Bread is pretty fresh and crunchy, the meats taste amazing and there's a lot of it. Only nit pick is that sometimes the bread is not cut deep enough so sometimes the insides fall out. Also have tried the chao gia rolls and they are great too. I'd recommend getting the bahn mis over the rice/noodles but like I said can't really go wrong here. Def order ahead if you are coming around noonish cause it's almost as packed as their sandwiches. Tbh probably gonna go again tomorrow

Tin makes a great Banh Mi. In my humble estimation, it is one of the top 3 in the city along with Saigon Sandwich and Dinosaurs. My criteria is that they have to nail the sandwich fillings and the bread. The average banh mi places use lower quality ingredients and kinda janky bread. That's totally fine - they're often priced that way too. Tin is in what I would deem the "premium" banh mi category. More expensive - it's fidi after all- but worthy of the price because the ingredients are better.

Great for a quick lunch. It definitely can sometimes have a line right around noon 5 Spice Chicken Banh Mi (4.5/5): Tons of flavors - packed full of veggies and meat. The chicken is tender, sweet, and savory. The bread is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I do wish the meat was placed a bit more inside the sandwich, so it didn't fall out as easily, but overall a very tasty lunch sandwich.

Ordered the lemon grass chicken bun bowl with an egg roll and it was a great lunch! This spot is a grab and go spot which is perfect for those working in the city. I ordered online and went to pick it up, very streamlined process and the person helping with pick up orders was very friendly! The pieces of chicken were huge but super flavorful and juicy! The egg roll was also very crispy even after taking it back to the office. The portions are huge and I think for the price it's definitely worth it.

This is my new fave spot to grab lunch when I'm in the office. I liked it so much I ended up going two days in a row. I've gotten the hue rolls and 5 spice chicken vermicelli bowl. Both were delicious and fresh. The meat is cooked perfectly. The hue rolls were filling and I liked the thick rice paper wrapping. The 5 spice chicken also really filling, I ended up eating the leftovers for dinner. The cashier at the front is super friendly and helpful too! The spot gets busy during lunch hour so I usually order online and pick it up.

Two thing to praise about Tin: 1. the menu is smart, the food is delicious. it features different types of protein that can be made in a banh mi, noodle bowls, rice plates, salads etc. the produces is always fresh, the food is hot, and their portions are super super generous. The protein is always super flavorful, not overcooked. I love their menu because you can order something that is relatively healthy that doesn't renders you into a food coma as you're trying to get back to work. 2. the same person manages the register and expedites the food for pick up. he is awesome-- and i'm pretty sure has the patience of a saint. I watch him kindly answer like every customer question to help them understand the menu and make recommendations when they get stumped; he always thanks you for waiting if you're waiting in the store for pick up. There's like a genuine energy here that they want you to leave full and happy. A few tips: it can get busy here with the number of office/office workers nearby. You can order online to save some time and step in to pick up. My personal favorites are the Bun Tom (noodle bowl with shrimp), Cha Gio (fried eggrolls that come with noodles and greens), and tin rolls (house spring rolls).

Excellent Viet food. I got the shrimp bun bowl thingee (what's it called again?) and it was very flavourful, and they gave a lot of shrimp for the price. My BF got the lemongrass pork banh mi and it was also delicious and flavourful. Would come back!

Tin Rolls -- $11.5 Grilled lemongrass pork shoulder, fresh herbs, boiled egg, lumpia skin, fried shallots, rice paper, fish dipping sauce with peanuts Pretty good. Nice taste and texture. Hue Rolls* -- $11.5 Grilled lemongrass pork shoulder, fresh herbs, fried shallots, rice noodle, fish dipping sauce Pretty good. Nice taste and texture. Bun Bo Nuong -- $14.5 Mai-que-lo-marinated and grilled ribeye slices with sesame seeds Tasty. Ribeye was cooked nicely, and the vegetables and vermicelli noodles complemented well. Service is great. The front of house guy (white hair) is always friendly, and the homemade sriracha and hot sauce are great additions.

Wow so flavorful and large portions! They do NOT skimp out on the protein either :) I got the Bun Thit Nuong Noodle Bowl (grilled lemongrass pork) with Cha Gio roll and it was amazing. My colleagues got Bum Tom Noodle Bowl (grilled shrimp), Xa Xiu Pork Belly Sandwich, and The Combo Sandwich. They liked them. Highly recommend and this is definitely a new go-to lunch spot for me in FiDi!

I order regularly from here for lunch pick-up through DoorDash. The flavors are authentic and delicious! Packaging is good. What I've Ordered: + Bun Cha Ha Noi, 5/5 + Hue Rolls, 5/5 + Five Spice Chicken, 5/5 BUN CHA HANOI comes with three grilled pork patties and pork belly. I always share this dish because three patties along with vermicelli noodles is a lot for me. My favorite entree! HUE ROLLS are expensive and almost the same price as the Bun Cha, but they're SO SO GOOD. The grilled lemongrass pork with cilantro, shiso, and mint all wrapped in rice wrap is out of this world! 6 pieces total, but I'm usually full by the 4th roll. Love love love this place! Quite possibly my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. Plus the owner who works this location is always friendly! Still remember when they first opened, such a nice addition to the area.

Love this spot for a quick lunch!!! The Ribeye noodle bowl & thai tea were perfect for my work lunch. Super light, but filling and very tasty! I got the chicken banh mi to take on my long drive back home and it's so flavorful with the crunchiness of the pickled carrots and radish. Pricing isn't all that bad- for SF FiDi. Definitely recommend this place!

I walked by this restaurant. It doesn't have much curb appeal. The people who go inside must know that the food is good. I walked in to get out of the sun and came out with a 5 spice chicken bowl. The cashier was so nice. He even brought me a sample. He knew I would get hooked. I tasted the grilled lemongrass beef. I had to get a meal. I love the kind of service that talks you into getting food when you aren't hungry. They are o Lu open Monday-Friday for 3 hours. They must get some food business. What a great spot! My meal was very fresh and delicious!

If you're looking for high quality Vietnamese food from a takeout restaurant look no further. Tin on Kearny had some of the best Vietnamese food I've had in SF. Do note about service, this place is take out only. You will not be able to sit down inside and instead have to eat elsewhere. The ambiance is a busy little take out spot. Expect a bit of a line, but it is definitely worth it. I ordered the lemon grass pork rice plate with a fried egg and egg roll. Was absolutely delicious!

A new Vietnamese takeout joint in the FiDi, conveniently across the street from mega-office-complex 555 California. They have a popular Vietnamese joint in SoMa with a larger menu, but no pho here. The place was filled with smoke, which was an indication that they take their grilled meats serious. And they do, every one I tried was amazing! Hue Rolls: The freshly grilled pork is the star here! Thin, heavily marinated and nicely charred. Goes great with the thicker rice wrapper and fresh veggies. A lot heartier than normal spring rolls with that translucent wrapper. Was especially nice with some of the homemade hot sauce they optionally give you. Xiu Mai Meatballs Banh Mi: I ordered this because I saw it in photos at the their original restaurant and it looked cool. There it was served with the meatballs floating in a warm broth and the bread on the side. Here, the whole sandwich was put together already and no broth despite the website menu description "House-made pork meatballs with a spicy broth". It was still flavorful, but not what I was expecting. Fresh crusty bread and lightly vinegar-ed veggies though. Bun Bo Nuong w/ Cha Gio Roll: Another meat grilled to perfection! So much marinade and so much char. The add-on cha gio roll was a nice bit of extra protein having lots of ground meat inside the crispy shell. The rice noodles and veggies had a fresh contrast to the intense meat. I really love grilled Vietnamese beef and wish more places would offer it (instead of just the typical grilled pork and grilled chicken).

Discovered on here last night, had it for the first time today - worth the hype! Got a combo banh mi. The pate is magic and I have high standards on pate. yes, it's pricy by banh mi standards, but not by general FiDi lunch standards and the sandwich is HUGE! Just one tiny grievance - I wish it was spicier. maybe I just need to request jalapeños. I'll be back to find out!

Great lunch spot for all of us working in the FiDi! Love to go here when I want some fresh ingredients, but can't do a salad. No seating, so be prepared to take your food to go (there are outdoor seats right across the street above The Vault).

I love coming here for lunch, especially when I'm craving something fresh. However be prepared to wait! Especially if you come around 12-1. There's usually a line out the door. Ordering online ahead does not seem to save too much time either. The lemongrass pork however is always top notch! It's always so flavorful and they give pretty generous portions. This time decided to add on the Cha Gia roll but I was kind of disappointed that it costs $3.50 for only 1 roll, I assumed for that price it would be at least 2. It's almost $1 per bite but at least it was very tasty. The noodles this time tasted a little funny, I think they left it sitting in a plastic container too long so some of that plastic-y taste was coming through. In the past I've never had a problem with that so I'm hoping this was just a one-off! I'll definitely be back when I'm craving something fresh again.

Upon entering Tin, things weren't looking too bright as there were a crowd of people indoors and there seemed to be confusion as to who had ordered already and who was waiting for their order. Nonetheless, we persisted and ordered the Vegetarian Bun Noodle Bowl & Claypot Shrimp Rice Plate. It was refreshing seeing the co-owner, Stanley bagging meals and calling orders out for pick up, and not nickel and diming for paper bags but I'm sure it's already been factored into the meal's cost. The Vegetarian Bun Noodle Bowl was expected and split into two meals, but the Claypot Shrimp Rice Plate was rather...underwhelming? It was literally just a small brown box with a bowl of rice and a separate white Thank You takeout box of shrimp for $14. Judging from their Yelp page and the lack of photos, the noodle bowls are probably more popular due to their portions, but even then I would have to exhaust all my dining options before making the trek back.

My office is right around the corner from Tin on Kearny, so it's a convenient option for lunch. They're takeout-only, but when I got to the restaurant around 12:30 pm, there were only a few people waiting for orders. My friend and I both ordered the bun noodle bowl with 5-spice chicken. After placing our orders, we waited outside for just under 5 minutes. The portion was perfect for a workday lunch - not too much, not too little. I thought they were generous with the amount of chicken in the bowl. Everything tasted very fresh and smelled delicious. I have yet to try their other dishes (clay pot rice bowl, banh mi, rolls, etc.), but I'll be back!

I ordered their 5 spice Chicken rice plate with the hue rolls for lunch one day in the office. Man are they busy! But among their busy-ness, the staff were still kind! The food came out relatively quick for how swamped they were and it was worth it! The five spice chicken was flavored to perfection! I've never had hue rolls before but they were a nice first-time treat!

Tin on Kearny is perfect for a quick lunchtime meal. This restaurant serves delicious, authentic Vietnamese food that is portable, easy to eat, and bursting with flavor. My personal favorite on the menu are the Bun Bowls, which combine salad, vegetables, vermicelli noodles, protein, and a dressing. I have gotten both the Shrimp and 5 Spice Chicken versions and both were absolutely delicious. Tin shoes not skimp on the protein or the seasoning, making it for a large, healthy, and delicious meal. There are also a variety of vegetarian options.

Tasty Vietnamese in financial district that's a great place to grab lunch either to take back to your office or if you're visiting to go to Portsmouth square park or down to Sidney Walton park to enjoy.

I ordered the Bun Bo Nuong for lunch! The food was delicious & smelled amazing. The portion was the perfect size so I wouldn't go into a food coma during work but definitely filling enough to hold me off until dinner. Would def be ordering this again when I'm in the area!

Amazing Bahn Mis. May even be the best in SF. I had the 5 spice chicken and the meat proportions are phenomenal. My only gripe is their lack of seating indoors, there is space for it, but they must have removed since Covid.

Service/Wait time: I came Wednesday around 1:30 PM and there was no line but when I walked past around noon the line was out the door. The owner is super nice and attentive. My sandwich was wrapped where part of it was exposed. Although I didn't mind, the owner immediately noticed and offered to rewrap it. Also there isn't much seating so expect to grab it to go to eat! Food: I got the Grilled Lemongrass Pork Banh Mi sandwich. I would come without the expectation of a traditional Banh Mi. The price may seem expensive but it's really on par with the price of lunches in the area. With that being said I think it was worth it. The sandwich was so huge it's really two servings and they stuff it with pork. I wish the pickled carrots were better. Overall: If you are working in the area and want a good sandwich, I would stop by!

I'm so excited they now have a location on Kearny! Used to regularly order from the original location in SOMA and have always loved their food. Their bun rice noodle bowls and clay pot catfish are super delicious in particular, but I've honestly have liked everything I've gotten from Tin. The food is consistently good and always has so much FLAVOR - they're not afraid to douse it up with mint, basil, shrimp paste, fish sauce, etc. Incredibly fresh and at a very reasonable price point too. My only ask is I wish they would be open for dinner :) but otherwise am super happy to now have a location closer to me!

On the pricier side for a banh mi, but always delicious. I can usually stretch a five spice chicken banh mi into two meals. The flavors are all on point and the bread is perfectly crusty. Definitely get a side of the spicy sauce. The spring rolls are also great!

If you haven't been here, you MUST try it! I discovered this location on my way back from running a work errand and I was so PLEASED with how fresh and delicious the ingredients for my Lemon Grass Banh Mi sandwich was! They do not skimp out on the meat either and overall, their sandwiches are packed with such good flavor. They are super friendly and warm as soon as you walk in. I have been back now 3 times (twice in one week) and have brought two of my colleagues to try it. Their Turmeric Catfish Bahn Mi is pretty good, too! The location is very clean and super easy to get in and out at lunch time, especially during a busy week. Their prices are pretty competitive - not too bad for SF.

Did I order wrong? I had high hopes since my family always gets delivery from Tin Soma. I got the Cha Gio bowl, or did I not?I saw it in 2 locations on the menu with same price so figured it was the same. Anyhow the rolls were great, got plenty of herbs, but only a spoonful of noodles. Need more noodles!
