Nashville-Themed Bars Are Taking Over America | Eater

"A kitschy honky‑tonk that began near Music Row in 2002 and has expanded into a multi‑city chain (with two dozen locations nationwide), offering the kind of high‑energy, exportable bar experience that makes out‑of‑town patrons feel at home while contributing to the commercialization and replication of Nashville’s nightlife formula." - Daniel Maurer

My wife and I went to Nashville with a friend couple. We spent three days over a weekend in town. We wanted to experience the music scene in town, as well as food and some cocktail bars. We expected to be impressed by the Honky Tonks in town. And we were hoping that the Speakeasy bars and regular cocktail bars in town were same calibre as other towns/cities. We really liked the Tim Roof. We were there two days in a row. The first day we spend two hours dancing line dance on the second floor. A very inspiring teacher got all 50-60 persons through 2 hours of dancing. Really worth trying out when in town. The day after we went for the music and drinks. The band was really good - and played country as well as a lot of hits from the 80’es. All in all a very nice place to visit.

Had an awesome time at Tin Roof. Most of the live bands on Broadway were playing a steady stream of recycling Shania Twain, Journey, and other common crowd pleasers, but we managed to catch an awesome band here called Wrestle with Jimmy. They played a ton of 2000s rock hits, and the crowd was loving it. Definitely one of the more memorable spots for our group!

Google
Great bar with great rock live music, at least the night we were there. We had some leftovers from dinner and the security guards were so nice to let us in with it. Never turn down business. Got a table, had a couple of drinks and enjoyed the great music. Super cool decoration inside and the energy was great. The servers were kind too and the drinks were amazing. They have a second floor as well so it is specious. The restrooms were not very clean but nothing too bad. Visit Tin Roof for a good night out

We had been to a few other bars before this one, but fell in love with the country throwbacks that the band was playing there (Smokin J’s). I knew every song. Jordan, the vocalist, had a beautiful voice. She sang male songs, Shania Twain, little big town, Stevie Nicks and even Dolly songs! We had the wings and tacos…not too bad competitively, to be honest! The service wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t exceptional…despite that it wasn’t SUPER busy. The vibe was great, it was spacious and clean…didn’t smell like a musty bar/mop water like some others. We had wine and beer, but only because we ordered cocktails at a few others beforehand and learned our lesson. We loved it so much, we went back thr next day for more Smokin J’s, wings, and tacos!

Google
Pros: My husband and I walked in, got carded, and sat immediately (open seating). The live music was fantastic because the band sounded professional! They played a lot of 70’s-90’s music, which was nostalgically wonderful and much appreciated by this 80’s baby/90’s kid. As for the food, my husband and I received a good portion for the amount we paid. Our fried pickles and the spicy chicken sandwich came out hot, the quesadillas tasted fresh, and the drink sizes were generous. The waitress was super attentive and kind. Overall score: A+

Google
Average bar type food that you’d expect to find. Decent food prices. The night we came played mostly pop type music. The waitress was attentive and friendly. We got the cheeseburger with said, turkey bacon sandwich and fried pickles.

This place was so fun!! We learnt line dancing. The food was awesome, especially the fries. The service was good. And the drinks were strong!!

Google
Changed to 5 stars: talked to a bartender who got us in touch with the manager and let my friend in. 22 year old was refused entry with real ID after cursory look with no explanation. We were there the previous 3 days and had a lot of fun, nice and relaxed atmosphere compared to the rest of Broadway, but one young and cocky bouncer ruined it. Best fried pickles anywhere

Yelp
Food Had the Avocado tacos. The fry on the Avocado was exactly what I was looking for, light and not greasy. Nice crunch from the lettuce and good kick from the spicy mayo. Service Quick, attentive and kept the drinks flowing. Ambiance I guess what you would expect, a bit loud so had to yell to speak to others across the table. Overall, good place to check out when you're downtown.

Yelp
Coming from Chicago my girlfriend has been to the tin roof in Wrigleyville but the tin roof in Nashville definitely was a vibe. We had really good drinks there, the music was good, the crowd was lively. It was a nice place for us to kind of get out and it was directly on Broadway Street, which was nice. The bartender was friendly. We just had a couple drinks and it was good. Granted you know I think the drinks are a little bit pricey because of the area that we were in but nonetheless it was a good time.

Yelp
With all the Mega Tonks springing up all over Broadway, I wanted to frequent some of my old haunts this trip and I'm afraid Tin roof is in the wake of the scene and may get left behind to drown in the lake of country! While the music is certainly adequate for 4:30 in the afternoon, I'm not a big fan of the dollar bills stuck on the wall look! The old red bicycle hung from the ceiling with cascading glops of dust falling on patrons from its spokes is not very appetizing but then I wasn't planning on eating here anyway. Please pass me a napkin to cover my Guinness! Oh... and the bathroom... I washed my hands twice!!!

Yelp
Tin roof on Broadway is definitely a fun spot to be to experience live music, good food, and great drinks. The musicians that were there the day that I went were really entertaining. I ordered a special drink, called the flamingo which was an interesting mix of pink Whitney , grenadine, and a high noon. And honestly the price was not bad (about 10 bucks). There are also happy hour specials, which I recommend asking about. I ordered some food and it came out pretty quick and tasted really good. Also, in the very back of the bar is a high noon claw machine that for one dollar you have the opportunity to grab a can. So fun!

Yelp
Music was good, but service and food, not so much. We ordered alcohol beverages and then asked for waters, and our server told us we could get water from the construction cooler at the end of the bar. Really???? Great server! We ordered loaded tots, and they came out cold, and the salt level was way too much. We sent them back, and they were redone and much better. We skipped the $3 tacos on Taco Tuesday to go bar hopping and have better service elsewhere.

Yelp
Discovering Tin Roof on Broadway has been a delightful local gem for me on weekends. The live music and affordable drinks create an inviting atmosphere, but the real surprise was the incredible food! As a quesadilla enthusiast, theirs has easily become one of my favorites.

Yelp
Winding down our post Thanksgiving trip to Nashville, this was one of our last stops in Music City. We didn't hit this spot on our last visit, so I was interested to check it out. Great decor. Great staff in the early afternoon. I only had a couple of lighter beers. All was well. What I loved about Tin Roof on this visit is that we got to see a band change during our visit. I always love a band change in Nashville. Two bands for the price of one..lol. Every band that plays bars in Nashville is very good. Some are just about to make it big, so we got to see a great band for about 20 minutes followed by another great band after a short wait. Always fun when that happens. No complaints here at Tin Shed. The food looked pretty good, too. Folks were ordering sandwiches and burgers. Will definitely look into ordering food next time.

Yelp
Everything was great. It was a group thing for us with a selected menu buffet style. Everything was delicious. The service was great and the atmosphere totally fun.

Yelp
We popped in to enjoy our last few hours in Nashville at a broadway establishment. We had just come from another place and sitting down here brought a big sigh of relief and a "this is much better". It is smaller than some other places but I like that about it. It is more intimate with the artists performing but at the same time, I don't feel like my ears are being blown out. I like how it's decorated, it's funky. The drinks are reasonably priced ($10-12 for cocktails) with a wide selection. From the looks of the their promos written on the wall, they have daily deals which seem to be pretty good. Our server was friendly and kept a close eye on us in case we needed anything or wanted to order another round. There was a girl sitting right next to me who kept hitting me with her long hair which was annoying. I also have long hair and I think I manage to keep it in check. I will have to dock a star for the fact that there was a baby cockroach that crawled across the bar exactly where I was sitting. I was fortunate that we had not ordered food.

Yelp
Great customer service. Music was fun. The bartender gave me great tattoo recommendations too :) Go early !! And check out the second floor after 6 pm

Yelp
The food was great! The service was great! The ambiance is what you would expect in Downtown Nashville! Angeline was our server, she did an awesome job, she promotes the establishment very well!! Right now, our favorite place to dine because unlike most of the 100's of "Tourist Traps" in and around Nashville, the prices are fair, the food is great, the music is pretty much anything and everything which is a nice break from all country all the time!! BRAVO!
google avatar

Jose C.

Yelp
We stopped in here to check out their band. They were playing great music and had the crowd going. The floor was packed and I didn't have any issues with the staff as others have pointed out. Not one of my favorite Honky Tonks but still a great experience.
google avatar

Terra S.

Yelp
Pretty good bar. Like the vibes! We did t get to try the food because we went during the night when it's more of a bar. Good music! Good views from the top! I believe this is the place that has the really cool throne! Service was awesome! Super fun! I will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm not a huge fan of Broadway as is, but I did enjoy my time at Tin Roof. It wasn't insanely busy like some of the other locations, and the music was good. We sat at a table in the back and ordered food. It took awhile to get the food, and it was decent but nothing special. There isn't anything that would make me rush back here, but I still did have a good time. Everyone else really did like their food.
google avatar

Frank A.

Yelp
Love the tin roof! Super friendly staff, food was pretty good for a bar. Exceptional entertainment. Had the chance to see Josh Gallagher the afternoon we were there. He's a ridiculously good singer, songwriter, performer. Had a smoking hot band with him. Kyle on lead guitar was exceptionally good. The bands takes requests and if they don't know the song, they can generally work it out in about two minutes. You won't be disappointed. One thing you have to do is tip. The performers make their living by tips. They don't get paid by the bars. So if you like it put something in the jar. If it's not exactly your taste, put something in the jar anyhow. Everybody in this place works really hard to please the guests. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Easily one of my favorite places on Broadway. We stopped in this bar because we came in on a super crowded weekend where there were crazy lines for the main bars and we saw this one was a really short line. The set up of this bar is intimate but big enough to move around and accommodate a lot of people. Both bands playing, upstairs and downstairs were AMAZING. The drinks are well priced compared to other bars on Broadway and it's super cute inside. We ended up coming here every night we were here because this was by far the most fun bar on the street and wasn't filled with super rowdy tourists. Amazing vibes in here and would definitely recommend making a stop in here.
google avatar

Dena H.

Yelp
This place has a unique interior filled with the decoration and graffiti on the walls. The music was great and a decent place to grab a quick bite. The fishbowl drinks are a tourist scam as it barely had any alcohol and was mainly just juice. So avoid those. The food was alright. The nachos weren't that great, the chicken was forgotten and the cheese wasn't even melted. The bbq pulled pork quesadilla was really great and I recommend that. Our friends enjoyed their tacos so that is another item to consider off of the menu. The service was great and she was super friendly.
google avatar

Daniel H.

Yelp
Bands are great. Service while there was Terrible. Self service at the bar, bar tender hustling. No wait staff. Patrons came in listened to music and went some where else for drinks.
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
So fun!! I've been to the Tim Roof is San Diego and this one is more lively. The bands that perform here are awesome and there is a decent size dance floor near the door. We didn't explore the second floor - ample seating and plenty of room to explore. There are even some claw machines for additional entertainment.
google avatar

Karo R.

Yelp
Great band!!!!! Good Music and reasonably priced beverages! Highly recommend! Yes, the do card you.
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
Tin roof One of my favorites, three floors of fun and it's all different. The second floor is usually a rock band, the band the night (SoBro?)I was there was amazing, like the 80s rock band, costumes and everything! Loved that band! I WOULD GO BACK!
google avatar

Holly K.

Yelp
Loud, fun bar to go to to listen to live country music! The drinks are great (variety and reasonably priced), and the food is surprisingly pretty good bar food (street corn quesadillas and the fried pickles are both really good!!!). Yes it's loud, it's packed, just like any other bar on Broadway. The music/bands are always on point. Always a good time when I end up here!
google avatar

Kristin M.

Yelp
Wow, the food is way better than we expected! The wings are phenomenal as is the Mac and cheese! Great music, great service, fun place!
google avatar

Patrick D.

Yelp
This location of Tin Roof is fun, fast, and friendly. The food is as expected the prices of food and drink are reasonable for the location. Service is good, if a bit distracted. But, if you want a quick bite that is fresh and easy, stop here.
google avatar

Journey M.

Yelp
had so much fun here!! hella floors, bars, live music, views, and bubbles !
google avatar

Sandra B.

Yelp
Good food, great drinks, too loud. It was a company event. Everyone had so much fun. I think I am just too old, but I couldn't hear anything but the music. I will say I could not hear the first floor music on the second floor. The band was amazing, lots of people dancing. The drinks were made well and tasted great. I had whatever they recommended because I could not hear what it was but it was good. We had food catered and it was all good. There was a nice patio upstairs that I found which was nice. Or would have been if it was not so hot. I could still hear the music but also could have a conversation. It was a great experience.
google avatar

Juliana J.

Yelp
Get the street corn quesadilla!!! It's so good. My sister and I were in Nashville for a weekend and we went two days in a row just for this we are OBSESSED!!! As for a bar! It's nice! More chill vibes not a crazy dance party! So depends what you're looking for! But also depends on the day and the band that's playing too!
google avatar

Yelp
Whoa hole in the wall great music! Great food! Friendly staff! I really like this place! Cozy!
google avatar

Mary B.

Yelp
Great sports bar and two levels of live music. Amazing! Wish we had a cool place like this in Walnut Creek Ca Great bar service Reasonable prices Had so much fun
google avatar

Leighton G.

Yelp
High Noon claw machine is abysmal. Enjoyed some beers that played a key role in getting me absolutely obliterated. The band encouraged overconsumption.
google avatar

Lyn H.

Yelp
On the strip of broadway, in downtown Nashville - where the bars are kind of like the houses in any major city suburb - cookie cutter, but the superficial accents separate them slightly - Tin Roof was set apart the night of Wednesday, Feb. 27. Myself and a handful of coworkers strolled in because of the band's teaser - mashup of jazzy reggae - that spilled into the streets. They were awesome and friendly - if I lived in the area I would make a extra effort to see if they were playing at Tin Roof again. The service as received was lovely compared to other locations on the strip. They were kind, attentive and the drink prices were ok. Didn't get food. The bathroom looked moderately clean - but my judgement was after a few drinks. Overall - nothing orgasmic, but I'd check it out again.
google avatar

Rich M.

Yelp
OK so it is filled with the bachelorette party crews here and there, we still had fun. (It is a ton of fun watching younger people do shots of whiskey, the faces are priceless lol) The music they had going was really good, out bartender was super attentive even with a packed bar. Our drinks were never dry. I was here for lunch, had the chicken fingers and tots. The chicken fingers are fresh battered (dont hate on me if I spelled that wrong) and they tasted like my grandma's fried chicken. It brought me back a little. The BBQ sauce was really good too. Pricewise, yeah on point! As for covid concerned people, there are zero mandates in TN. It feels good to be alive again!
google avatar

June B.

Yelp
Faith Jackson's music drew us right in! She is fantastic! Drinks were good, good sized place. Perfect for an afternoon drink and good music!
google avatar

Matt G.

Yelp
Im ganna start this review in a weird way but who cares...i just gotta start by saying that their cheese queso is some of the best queso ive ever tried. Came here for a quick lunch and had a nice time. Got the loaded tots to start and they were great. A little small but a very nice app with amazing queso lol. For lunch got the pulled pork sandwich which was average id say but got queso on the side for the fries which was a great call. Bar is cool and has a unique look with stickers and sharpie everywhere. They had some live music which was very loud so we sat in the back. Bartender was a little nasty but she was the only one bartending and had a pretty full lunch crowd. Overall a decent spot to stop for a bite to eat at a reasonable price.
google avatar

Ginette P.

Yelp
Another rowdy bar on the Broadway strip, one of the smallest with just 2 levels both have bands playing. the downstairs area is kinda cool with the lights it was crowded so we made our way up. another band playing we stuck around for drinks, had some Lagunitas beer not bad. band playing was decent, they seemed to be doing some cover songs not too bad a good break from all the country music. Bar below was less friendly with the service, it was easier upstairs to get drinks.
google avatar

Julia R.

Yelp
This place was pretty good. The music was very loud (which I think is typical for Nashville). It's almost hard to hear yourself think. We stopped in for A snack-we had the loaded tator tots. They were to die for! We had the ranch dressing on the side which was a good idea as there was a lot of cheese on the tots. The service was good and the people were very friendly. I would definitely return for drinks and a snack.
google avatar

Lexi F.

Yelp
If you're too old for the skinny blonde girl bachelorette parties, then head to the second floor. A band that's better than the one on the street- just no drums which is better on my pushing-30 ears anyway.
google avatar

Meera R.

Yelp
Cool spot for a good time. Drinks are super cheap. Paid like $6 for a vodka soda. They have multiple dance areas and they play good music. There's even a band playing live on the other side. Bathrooms are disgusting, so beware ladies. But other than that, cool spot. Just wish there was a fan or some air circulating around the place because sometimes it smells bad.
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
Another solid live music option on Broadway. One feature I really loved was the large open windows that backed to the sidewalk. The stage was positioned right along these windows so you were able to get a feel for the vibe of the band playing. I am pretty sure we made a beeline for the entrance when we heard some Green Day covers. The set-up of Tin Roof is a little more simplistic than some of the other bars along Broadway but still offers up a good time!
google avatar

Darylynn D.

Yelp
Located right in the middle of Downtown Nashville with so many places to choose from. What drew me here was the live music that was being played. It was modern music with an attractive looking band. The bar itself was nice and had plenty of seating. I ordered a drink at the bar and I love that the bartenders were really nice. I sat down at a booth and when a table closer to the band opened up I moved up. The vibe of this place was so fun.
google avatar

Brad H.

Yelp
Great chicken quesadilla, live music, cold beer and friendly bartenders. Venue is clean and modern. A great local business to support on Broadway.
google avatar

Ryan H.

Yelp
Strong drinks and great music upstairs and down. Good service to. Not much more to say. I highly recommend. Great layout on both floors.
google avatar

Shawna S.

Yelp
Live music and Angry Orchard on tap... what could be better. 4 stars because I think the beer should have been a bit colder. But I like the look and feel of this place.
google avatar

Josie R.

Yelp
Stopped in out of the cold for some beer and music. The husband/wife due was very good and the beer was excellent. Kinda your average Broadway honkey tonk bar but with excellent musical talent.
google avatar

Erica K.

Yelp
This place hosted my favorite night on the Honkey Tonk strip! on Wednesday nights they always have a named "Reckless Sidemen" and they are amazing. So, enjoy some food, drinks l, and dancing here! Have a good time! Now, when I say dancing.. this place wasn't packed and rowdy, but there was space to could bust a move. I really enjoyed the jalapeñorita A LOT! The cool cucumber taste with a hot finish was actually subtle and the most sophisticated drink i've been served in a plastic cup. The hot chicken had a great spicy flavor, but was a little too hot to enjoy for me personally. The hotness actually made the nachos taste sweet! I think there is another band upstairs, but I didn't check it out. I highly recommend coming here!
google avatar

William R.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the live band here. They played a good amount of ~2006 country jams! It was a great time. The customer service was awesome! Our drinks were always full and felt valued as a customer! We ordered some apps which were pretty solid and they had this amazing new brand called NÜTRL. It was nice to see some diversity outside of High Noon being the only offering.
google avatar

Catherine M.

Yelp
A really solid bar with a gorgeous theme and great music. We stopped in here on a rainy Sunday to listen to a "Hangover Special" band that was all acoustic but pretty good. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were pretty quick at helping us out. The beers are pretty cheap and we also got quite a few $3 jello shots. The second band that came on were lively and we ended up staying a lot longer than originally anticipated. We ordered the loaded tots and my god, the queso melted over these little tot nuggets were amazing. Highly recommend if you want an unhealthy snack. Love the vibes here, love the food here, love the bands here!
google avatar

Dennette S.

Yelp
Stopped into this bar, restaurant while visiting Nashville during the CMA fest. Saw the band playing I. The front and thought we would have a drink. This places really surprised us. Two band areas one in the front and one in the back, it also has room upstairs and the inside is amazing with character. We ordered a couple of drinks and an appetizer. You must try the loaded tots. Truly delicious, they have queso bacon, onions and more. So good. Our waitress "Anna ". Was very friendly and was able to suggest a few drink items that we enjoyed. You can pass right by, but don't pass it by, good value, great music, delicious drinks and tasty eats.
google avatar

Evan M.

Yelp
This bar looked really fun and cool from the outside and from pictures online, but the bouncer tried to take away my real ID from Missouri. I argued with him until he gave it back threatening to call the police. Once he did give it back, he didn't even let me in. Don't go to tin roof if you have a Missouri ID or are worried a bouncer will take away a vital document.
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
Tried to go to some of the other bars and they were way too crowded. No wait at Tin Roof, loved the band until it got on a 90s rock and pop playlist (but they were going off paid requests). Atmosphere was laid back and fun, burger wasn't bad, better than I expected. Drinks were good. I would definitely go back when in town.
