Tio Pepe Mexican Restaurant

one of the best mexican restaurants in town! the salsa is made fresh daily, i had the mild and it was very flavorful. delicious carne asada quesadilla. the staff was courteous and prompt, such excellent hospitality! my only concern is the accessibility of the front door. there is an elevated walkway (approximately 4 inches tall) to get to the door, and the door does not open all the way. this leaves very little room for wheelchair and power chair users to enter. very risky, coming within 1-2 inches of falling off and getting possibly injured. my recommendation is to have the door open the opposite direction, against the window, for improved safety. i love it and i will bring my friends here!!!

I have been coming here since I moved to Eugene a few years ago and have only had positive experiences!! Same two employees always help me and they are always so kind! Food and service are always a 10!! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for Mexican food in Eugene!!

Tio Pepe is a eugene gem. This is the only place I know of where two people can eat full meals for under twenty dollars total. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, and the food is delicious. You won't find better food for the price anywhere in Eugene 😋

BEST Mexican food in Eugene with vegetarian options. Super fair pricing. I'm from Texas so my standards for Mexican food are high, and this is one of the few places in town that exceeded my expectations for authentic food. Don't sleep on this restaurant!

This is hands down the best Mexican food I’ve had in Eugene—aside from my coworker’s home cooking! Everything is always hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The salsa is incredible, and they actually offer a spicy one that delivers. The drinks are immaculate, and the service is top tier every time. My only minor gripes are that the parking can be tight and the space inside feels a bit cramped. But honestly, those are small trade-offs for food this good. Absolutely a must-try spot!

We arrived as a group of 4 and were quickly seated. The atmosphere was lively and the food delicious. Definitely a local favorite and for good reason. Stop on in and give it a try.

Still checking out the various Mexican food places in Eugene... and pretty happy with Tio Pepe. I entered the restaurant, waited for a bit and got seated. Server was right there asking for my drink order, and it was delivered quickly, along with chips and salsa. I knew what I wanted and placed an order for Carne Asada y Chile Relleno. Then I sat back and feasted on Chips and Salsa. Chips - out of a bag, but very crispy and warmed. Salsa - good... lots of chunks of tomatoes and onion Carne Asada - very tasty and a nice portion of it. Chile Relleno - made the old fashioned traditional way, with whipped egg white. Very good! Refried beans - tasty Rice - Ok... better after I stirred in the pico de gallo into it. Tortillas - packaged, not made in house - they told me that up front when I asked. Service was very good... even chatted a bit trying to find a place that make tortillas, and they suggested a place.

Came here often growing up and finally made a return after 5+ years. I will say it looks and feels the same walking in now as it did then. Service is very friendly and often checked in to see if we needed anything else. The margaritas were delicious, I would definitely come back solely for them. On the other hand, we felt the food was lackluster. There wasn't much flavor to the rice and the enchilada sauce was bitter, there is definitely room for improvement

All around great experience. Friendly, attentive staff. Colorful decor with traditional music for a cultural atmosphere. They have spicy red beers like a Bloody Mary but beer. Delicious food. I got a fajita chimichanga which is a combo of 2 of my favorites. Reasonable prices and large portions. A new favorite!

We have lived near Tio Pepe for 8 years and have only recently tried it. We are more of a food truck family. However, yum! My kids and husband said it's the best Carne asada in town! I loved the chicken and cream enchiladas! Great service! Within 10 minutes the place was packed on a week day. Rich sauces, deep flavors. We have eaten there 5 times in the last two months!

As the year comes to a close I want to give a special #ThankYou !! To the restaurant and staff at Tio Pepe. The food is consistent and always perfect. Hands-down our favorite go to meal is a large guacamole, a couple of sodas and the incredible enchiladas trio. My family makes regular trips there to meet for lunch or dinner and have someone on one time with each other. They treat us like family and we have grown to claim this as our favorite spot.. thank you Tio Pepe for a great year of fantastic food and five star service. Here's to next year.!

The food is good, pretty normal and average for a Mexican restaurant. Service was great. It was bigger than it seemed from outside. I'd go back.

Delicious authentic Mexican food. So far my favorite Mexican restaurant in Oregon. Food is always delicious and the service is excellent. The staff is very friendly and make you feel at home. Very attentive. Would highly recommend this place.

Amazing food and amazing customer service the nicest people I have ever met and very accommodating to the customer. The vibe in their is amazing very causal but nice and clean with a great bar area. The ambiance is what makes the food even better I can just hang out and feel comfortable reminds me of the areas I would hang at in my hometown and my fav places to eat. Genuinely amazing place the it's the best Mexican food I've had in Eugene maybe oregon. It's good for both people who are new to Mexican food and grew up with it!

Gross. Worse than Taco Bell. Rice and gray colored beans scattered on the plate and the carnitas was so thin I could see through it This is so sad- they actually had a lot of people coming in- I'm visiting from another state- this place wouldn't make it for a week. Total rip off for the money.

Tio Pepe has wonder food, drinks and service. Tonight I learned that there is an elder that comes in once a week by himself. Coffee and enchiladas. He seemed so sweet, before we left I secretly bought his dinner.

I wrote a review a couple years back when my family came in from out of town Seattle & had a bad experience mostly the manager at the time but since he has left this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in all of Eugene/Springfield. They have gotten back to their original goodness & authenticity they used to have with their food. I rate them high because they really are that good

Tried Tio's for delivery again, this time ordering the Tio Pepe nachos with chicken and the shrimp fajitas. They called us not long after we ordered online to confirm some details which was nice but also confusing, because the description online for the nachos said they came with beef but they asked if we wanted shredded or ground beef or chicken. They also asked what type of tortilla we wanted with the fajitas. This wasn't an option when we ordered online so seems like there might be a couple of things to fix in that regard. We received our food super fast so that's awesome. Was disappointed to see that they're still using Styrofoam containers. The fajitas container had gotten punctured at some point so was leaking in the bag. The nachos were hefty! The flavor and everything was good, however, the chips were basically broken down to soggy tortillas by the time we got them so mental note for next time, that's probably an item better ordered when eating in the restaurant! The fajitas had good flavor, I enjoyed them. It came with about 7 shrimp, my only complaint is that they were tail-on, meaning I had to pull the tails off by hand before eating. They forgot the tortillas they called and asked about so that was a bummer but I guess it just saved me the unnecessary carbs. The fajitas were flavorful enough to have on their own so that's fine. While my overall rate didn't change, I did want to update the review for having tried something new and give some advice.

I have celiac disease with terrible symptoms with cross contamination. I eat here often and have never gotten gluten exposure. The food is delicious and the staff is fast and great!

Tio pepe should be renamed tio perfecto. The food was scrumptious, the atmosphere was inviting, and the horchata was legendary. The decor is immersive and vibrant--this is my new safe haven. The waitstaff was attentive and patient, everyone was so kind. Let me mention the horchata again, that was really fantastic. COME HERE.

Loved this place. Salsa is delicious and I'm hard to please when it comes to salsa. Haha. Chips are always warm too. The enchiladas I had were yummm. My boyfriend loved the sampler appetizer platter. It's such a cute place too. Glad to have it nearby.

My family had varied reviews for the food. My husband liked his Chile relleno. However, my chicken enchiladas were bland, and there was not enough sauce. Service and ambience was fine.

Awesome mexican food they have awesome horchata it just needed a little more cinnamon so they gave me more cinnamon! The Beans and the Tortillas are awesome so I definitely recommend them for the amazing mexican food #AwesomeMexicanFood Also the Ice Cream Nachos are awesome they also gave me extra maraschino cherries which are my favorite kind of cherries.

We were so disappointed with every aspect of the Experience. My pastor Tacos tasted like something had gone bad and my partners Asadaj burrito had almost No Carne at All... tiny little pieces... then the Horchata... very grainy... almost chalk like Never Again

I can't believe I've forgotten to review tio Pepe, until now. I've been eating at this restaurant for well over a decade. Certainly before the time of yelp. With all the years and miles since my first visit, they've remained one of my favorite places when hunger strikes. Sometimes I just go for the pico and taquitos. But I've enjoyed all the dishes I've had here over the years. I wouldn't say they're the best at any singular dish, but they're consistently good/clean/gracious. There's something to be said for that.

The tex mex here is very good. Chips and salsa are very standard fair. Chalupa was well made and even had guac which most places don't add without charge. Tamale was good but not memorable. Beans needed a touch of salt. Rice was well made. Chile verde was super good, very succulent pieces of pork. Service stunk, water sat empty halfway through the meal until we left. Check never came and ended up walking to the desk to pay, definitely lost a star here.

Best mole that I've had in years. Thick, dark and not too sweet. Probably the best Mexican food that I've had in Oregon.

every time I come to this restaurant, I'm always greeted with the best service! This is my "go to" restaurant when I just want to get something quick or have a quick margarita or even when I'm celebrating some thing with my family. The salsa is amazing and the food is great. Love it!

This is hands down THE best Mexican food. A favorite of mine is the Camarones a la Diabla. A nice kick of spice with the creamy beans and red rice The workers are incredibly friendly and attentive. Having eaten Mexican food my entire life back in California, I've got a very picky taste and high expectations for Mexican food in Oregon, and this place hits the spot.

The 5-star review is for the molcajete and the excellent service!!! Thanks to the Eugene Foodies Facebook group I caught wind of this amazing deliciousness in the neighborhood. It's probably the best secret menu item I've ever had. The 3-item is definitely the best deal for sure at $21. The chicken was a little dry, but everything else was fantastic. I love nopales. I'm sure the other menu items are great too, but this dish is good eatin.

Awful service, after 7 years being a regular the "owner" tries to charge my credit card for 2 meals with the moronic excuse that last time i did not pay. Ridiculous. Some idiot he hire that had been there maybe a week convinced him of that. Lets see they bag and fill your baskets of chips with their bare hands, no ventilation in bathrooms. You can get a whiff of someones insides under the right circumstances

The food is always good but I am very disappointed that the to go food is served in styrofoam and thick plastic bags. How is that even allowed!? Hard for me to support them when I'm trying to cut my plastic consumption way down

This place is the best sit down Mexican restaurant around Eugene. Always amazing! Specials are great, staff is great, bar is great. They have a party room to if you want to have a small gathering. To go food is always amazing. I ordered take out through the pandemic and I live 30+ minutes away and the food was always great when I got home. The best Mexican food I ever ate in my life was here. One of the specials with cactus in a special sauce in the black clay pot.

This is our go to when we are craving flavorful, quality Mexican cuisine. EVERYTHING we have tried has been consistently delicious. Especially their Chile Verde (thick, flavorful sauce and the pork is always tender with no fatty chunks). Their salsa tastes great, and their potato tacos are highly recommended. If I wasn't so addicted to their Chile Verde, I would try their many other dishes but I can't get enough. Seriously, this is "I'm licking the plate and don't care who is watching" good food.

Ordered Enchiladas Rancheras through Postmates for $15.85 and all I got was very small amount of cheese inside the enchiladas (see pictures attached). I had to dissect the enchiladas to look for meat but I did not find anything. This dish came with rice and honestly confused why it costs $15.85 as they sell enchiladas a la carte for less than $4. This is really disappointing because I love their steak ranchero.

Alfredo the new owner 7 months now, i learn meeting him tonight wants to do the best. Its a nice little place, the decor, price and friendly service. Just because this resturant been around Eugene for years, i live down the street. YOU SHOULD RE-CHECK THIS PLACE OUT, I did, tried a dish chicken on bed if mex rice, was very tasty, and a couple Hops Valley then walk home up the street..

Best Margaritas. Blended and just the right amount of flavoring. I like the chips and salsa. They always bring extra too!. A good "go to" place.

Whoa! Where did this place come from?! We were invited here by my sister and her boyfriend. Honestly, I was craving a burrito from Burrito Amigos, but I'm sure glad we decided to meet up with them! This restaurant doesn't look special on the outside, sort of just a run down little red building, but the inside is gorgeous! I had the taco burrito special. I thought it would be just one burrito, but came with rice and beans. It was the perfect amount! They did forget my guac, but I was so surprised by the food, I wasn't even mad. Their salsa is to die for also! Great food and great service, their staff was super nice! We will definitely be returning. I may have found my new favorite place for Mexican food!

first of all I wanted to say terrible service got seated down then waited for about 15 minutes to get my order taken then we waited 25 more minutes for are food then we got overcharged for the food some employees don't even acknowledge that you are there back then when the original owner was there you get a glass of water and good service now it's a crappy owner doesn't even give you water chips where cold salsa was alright then we had cameras facing us while we where eating and most restaurants don't have cameras where people are eating.overall terrible service and food.

Love Love Love this place! I went on a Tuesday afternoon, just because I tried Monday without checking if its open and yup! it was closed (Meh, user error). So, this time I checked and went the next day. I had been craving for some Mexican food for so long and this place was everything I wished for. The decor is very vibrant and colorful, just like Mexico. I went with a group of coworkers and we were escorted to our table. While we were looking at the menu, we got some chips and salsa, which was delicious by the way. They were very generous in giving everyone their own salsa and lots of chips. The service was great and the staff was super friendly. I ordered some chicken chimichanga for a sit down lunch and tacos to-go. We got our food in less than 10 mins and it was *Amazing*. The chimichanga was perfectly cooked with savory spicy flavors and sour cream and guac on top. I also got rice and beans on the side.Yum yum yum! The portion was big enough but I managed to finish it all in one sitting. When I was done with my food, they gave me tacos in a box too with chips and salsa packed as well. I was very pleased to know that. Overall, it was a successful trip to this place and highly recommend trying it out. Oh! The prices are super reasonable. Everything is pretty much less than $10 unless you go platter or try some fancy steak. Which I think is understandable and reasonable.

I really like their food. The fajitas are really good and everything our whole family tried was really good. The place doesn't look that nice from the outside, but the food is good and you'll probably like it if you give it a try. I'm really glad I found them and now I know there's finally some decent Mexican food in the River Road/Santa Clara area.

The food here is decent but the dining experience will destroy it for you. These people will look you dead in the eyes and walk past you when you need help. the service was some of the worst I've ever experienced. They didn't bring us silverware, water, or napkins, then proceeded to help the table directly next to us. I had to get up to ask for help 3 times. On top of that our order was messed up but nobody came and checked to see how we were doing. Waited another 20 mins after eating to pay for my check. As I'm waiting on our server again, he helps the table that arrived after us and takes their payment while I'm still waiting. Pretty disappointing when you have to serve yourself at a sit down restaurant. So if you want some better service than this place, I would recommend a Taco Bell.

I like several dishes at Tio Pepe's, such as the Enchilada Supreme, and the burritos. Very tasty. However, 7 members of my family joined me there last night for my birthday, and it was NOT a good experience! There was no where you could stand that you were not in the way while waiting for a table. We were seated after a 10-15 minute wait and constantly had to move out of the waiters/waitress' way. They seated us in a room m where the AC was not working and it must have been 100° in there. They gave us NO water and it took a while before we got any drinks ordered and served to us. It took a good 20 minutes to get our food and by then we all needed a refill on our drinks. We all asked for refills which arrived as we were leaving. Once again, no place to stand while waiting to pay. My mother wanted to put the tip on her card when she paid and she was never given the option to do so. The waitress never got a tip because of this. My husband stepped into the other dining room o check their temperature, and it was downright chilly! So hot and uncomfortable in the room we ate in, so we left ASAP after eating. Such a disappointing experience!

The new menu is filled with tastiness, the salsa is wonderful, the Cadillac margaritas are worth every penny, and the decor is colorful and fun. Works for me! Javier and Andres make a great team =)

I am truly shocked by some of the bad reviews. Tio Pepe is our go to place. They treat us like family, and we always have a good experience. Have had many birthday and other celebrations here over the years. They are so gracious and handle a large party really well (we call ahead and sit in the big room so we won't disturb other patrons)...Their food is amazing. Haven't ever had a bad meal and we eat her at least once a week. The servers are great as well. Delicious margaritas. Chips and salsa on point (ask for the salsa verde, it's amazing). We love this restaurant!!!

I didn't think I'd find some Mexican food here in Oregon but my wife and I trusted Yelp a few nights ago and this place is great! It is authentic and reminds me of home. The owners are the ones running the show and it is evident because it is clean and excellent. Their prices are fair and the serving are generous. They have a Cantina too I'm looking forward to the next time!

They have a so called vegetarian section on their menu, but when I asked an employee to verify their rice is cooked in vegetable broth and not chicken stock/paste they returned to say the chef thinks it's vegetarian but isn't sure. Excellent Mexican in Eugene! They have several vegetarian entrees on the back of the menu that can be made vegan. Love the red and green salsa as the latter is quite spicy which is a good thing in my opinion. Love the pickled carrots. Have been here twice for dinner. The first time we tried the veggie fajitas which were huge and fine to share leaving us even with a bit to take out. The enchiladas were smaller than the fajitas and fine to share.

I'm from LA and this is fantastic Hispanic food right here in Eugene. I loved it. It had flavor and spices to my liking. I rarely eat Mexican food out here in Eugene because I cook authentic recipes from my Arizona born recipes. Be assured this restaurant is authentic and absolutely delicious.
