On a hot day in June, nothing says "Fresno summer" like going downtown for a delicious beer slushie at the Tioga-Sequoia beer garden.
"Beer slushie" is much, much more delicious than it sounds. It doesn't taste like beer at all (as much as I love beer). It tastes fruity, tart, and lightly sweet.
They rotate different flavors during the summer, one at a time. And sometimes they run out and have no slushies. Currently they have a delicious boysenberry flavor. Last summer my favorite was the cherry and I'm waiting to see if they bring it back this year.
If you're more of a regular beer person, you'll find many draft choices. My husband got a triple IPA today and enjoyed it a lot.
There's almost always a food truck (sometimes several food trucks). Today there was a taco truck which we didn't try.
And there are often special events, which you can find out by watching their social media pages, where they usually post weekly and monthly calendars. There are things like trivia nights, loteria night, craft or painting nights, live bands, dance nights, and events where you can bring your dog (although I believe dogs are always welcome at the outdoor seating).
If you like to save money, Tuesday has happy hour where you get $2 off draft beers.
There's usually plenty of convenient street parking and plenty of seating. Usually you can find a spot inside, or outside in the shade.
The people who work there are pretty nice -- they range from "basically polite" to "very friendly." Never had a bad experience here, although admittedly it's a bit of a downer to be in a cheerful festive mood, greet the person at the bar and get a flat response. But you know -- maybe sometimes they're having a bad day -- no one's ever been rude, and I wouldn't remove stars for "lack of cheerfulness." I'm not always cheerful when I'm working either.
This is a very pleasant place to get a drink and sit awhile. We keep coming back.
