The Hit List: New Mexico City Restaurants To Try Right Now

"Tirasavia, run by a chef who’s worked at NYC restaurants like La Grenouille and Veritas, is perfect for a long catch-up. The airy space with just a few wine bottles on display and light music, sets a chill vibe for in-depth conversations about your latest haul from the nearby Lagunilla Sunday flea market. Their seasonal menu, revolving around the freshest ingredients and flavors inspired from around the world, will give you plenty to chat about, too. The heirloom tomato salad might make you feel like you’re eating tomato salad for the first time thanks to the dried shrimp and herby vinaigrette, and the pulpo a las brasas is spot-on, paired with romesco, baby potatoes, and chorizo powder. Come Saturday evenings for live jazz, and a standout burger with runny onion jam, bacon, and gouda." - guillaume guevara

This place is the definition of ambiance! The second I walked in, I knew I was in good hands! Allan, the chef came to our table and greeted us, he listened to our diet restrictions and recommended meals accordingly! He prepared/cooked everything himself. Every dish we ate was a 10/10. Thank you Allan!

The best new restaurant in Mexico City. Period. I hardly know where to begin with Tirasavia, because there’s so much to say about it, but the most important aspect is the food. They are absolutely obsessed with food, and it shows. Their whole schtick revolves around “farm-to-table” and "organic ingredients," but the difference is that it's authentic. I’ve returned many times, experiencing breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and drinks, and every item excels. The menu: It's concise, offering just the right amount of options to ensure each dish stands out. The cuisine is distinctly international, blending Mediterranean and Mexican influences with a personal touch by the chef. Atmosphere: Tirasavia is situated in the heart of the Juarez neighborhood, surrounded by interesting art galleries, cafes, and charming boutiques. The restaurant strikes a balance between cozy and chic; it's not overly fancy or striving too hard. The atmosphere is casual, yet the decor and style are clearly intentional. Service: Outstanding. Despite being a small establishment with minimal staff requirements, every team member is attentive to your needs. A highlight is the presence of Chef Allan, who is both gourmet-minded and approachable, often seen mingling with guests. He readily shares details about ingredient sourcing, adding a personal touch to the dining experience. Pricing: Not at all an expensive place. Literally the most affordable option among cool high-quality restaurants like this.

I was in here quite some time ago and had a great experience, but it kind of fell off my radar. I recently rediscovered it and it’s been consistently great in every respect. A refreshing menu that’s not the same as every other place, great variety, fresh ingredients, and surprisingly good value for what you get. I can usually get a table easily. Service has always been first rate, while maintaining a relaxing atmosphere. I’ve really enjoyed the house wines, also. Totally recommend and it’s on my regular stops now.

My husband and I hadn’t been back to CDMX in several years and were stunned by all the hip new restaurants in our hood around Bucareli. Tirasavia stood out in every way as one the best places that we’ve ever dined -both here and NYC. It’s old school but fresh, beautifully designed, understated, and reasonably priced. We were amazed by the level of detail and flavor in something as simple as a green salad -tender baby romaine perfectly coated in creamy dressing sprinkled with crushed pistachios. The octopus was a pleasure to look at and to taste, as was the lamb tangine. Honestly, we could have dined there every day, but had friends to see and places to go. But we will be back, with the happy goal of trying everything else on the menu! Bravo!

Hidden gem in Mexico City. Arrived about 7pm on a Tuesday and it was pretty much empty. People are sleeping on this place! Extremely high quality food and really unique, creative dishes with beautiful plating. I ordered 2 appetizers - the mollejas (beef thymus) on brioche with mushrooms & an onion glaze AND the sweet corn & curry soup. Honestly wasn't sure what to expect but but both were just exquisite. The mullejos dish was sweet and umami and melted in my mouth. The soup was warm, hearty, and delightfully sweet (drank every drop). My main was the risotto of the day which was creamy, fluffy, sweet, flavourful pumpkin risotto with excellent texture and bite. I was left so satisfied following the meal. Adding to it was a really calm, romantic (great for a date night), cosy ambience and staff who were friendly, knowledgeable, and patient (I took awhile to decide on what to get). Very glad to have stumbled on this place and I couldn't recommend it more. Instead of queueing and stressing over the reservations for your mainstream over-popular places, give this place a visit people!

Yelp
We stumbled across this place as we were staying on the same street. Bright inside, with lots of natural light. Decor was modern and each table has a pitcher of rosemary water to quench one's thirst. We came for the coffee, which was good. However i ordered a cappuccino and my sis got a flat white. I actually got a latte and the sis got more of a cortado. They were both good. We discovered the breakfast menu. The fruit bowl was sublime. Creamy dreamy yogurt, with perfectly ripe papaya and peanuts. The bread on the croque aguacate! The sum of each bite was a perfectly toasted crunch + the fluffiness that indicates the freshness of the bread. Atop thr bread presided perfectly cooked eggs crowned by fresh avocado. Accompanying the dish was a delicious salsa, with a kick that made this girl's heart happy.
