The 11 Best Peruvian Restaurants and Food Carts in Portland and Its Suburbs | Eater Portland

"Tita’s Kitchen at the Portland Mercado knows people who graze like handheld options. Hence, the sandwiches featuring chicharron, lomo saltado, and yucca patties. All of those fillings are also available as plates served with yellow rice and plantains, but anyone who enjoys over-the-top creations needs to try Tita’s salchipapas, with the addition of shredded chicken and cheddar cheese, plus all three of their sauces: limey criolla, mild aji amarillo, and spicy rocoto. Tita’s Kitchen also has locations in Troutdale and Happy Valley."

This Peruvian food truck is a must-try! The lomo saltado was amazing – perfectly cooked and bursting with authentic flavors. Fresh ingredients, generous portions, and friendly service make this place a winner. Seriously, go check them out!

Ordered the combo 6 with fried plantains. The steak was bursting with flavor and the plantains were cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend.

I wish I could describe this wrap. It’s amazing. Super flavorful and filling. I can only eat half in one meal.

Food is so amazing! I was teleported to a core memory eating the fries! The pork and sweet potato sandwich is a marriage of flavors and texture that’s so hard to fine! Love this place and will be back!

Got an order of plantains. While waiting for them I decided to order something else. I didn’t take a picture of the original plantains or the meal I ordered because I ate it too fast. Ended up going back for 2 more orders of plantains for the road. The one pictured is the only one that made it home, It was a lady in the back and a gentleman up front taking orders. They were both friendly and it didn’t take long for any of my orders to come up. When I come back I will definitely be ordering more food.

Been here 4 or 5 times now and it's hit and miss. The chicken wrap is really good but everything else I've gotten isn't that great. The last 2 times I've come the guy taking orders seems very miserable and grumpy. Tonight our order got messed up and they gave us the wrong food, of course I didn't check and didn't notice til I got home. The fries are awful, mushy and gross. Not sure what dish I got but it was not very appetizing. Bummer cause I really wanted my chicken wrap. Waste of $20. I would come here for the wraps but nothing else.

I live in Canada. Whenever I come to visit family in Portland I always come and visit Tita's Kitchen. It is my very favorite food truck. The lady that works there always has a smile on her face. The food is fresh, affordable, and delicious. I promise if you try the food you will not disappointed.

Yelp
Pretty bummed. Normally when i order from here i get the same plate, the Lomo. Few times I've ordered here when a male is working/ cooking and my food is inconsistent and lacking so much of that good flavor i normally get when i order from here. My most recent visit i ordered my usual and my plate came only with meat (chopped pickled onion), fries and side of rice. I went back to ask about the sauted veggies (tomato and red onion) that normally come mixed with the meat, but he simply brushed it off as if that's just how the plate noramlly comes.... Im hesitant to keep coming here just for this reason alone.

Yelp
Tita's Kitchen Food Truck, nice clean and prompt service. Walking through Happy Valley's Station of Food Trucks, I decided to try something Peruvian. I ordered the Fried Plantains. Delicious! I had a choice of mild or a spicy Peruvian Sauce to dip my plantains in. I went with Mild. My husband and I both enjoyed them and the sauce was a nice touch all for $6 bucks. Give Tita's Kitchen a try.

Yelp
This Titas is located in the Happy Valley food truck pod. The food trucks are all located around the main seating area. It is sheltered and has plenty of seats. The bathrooms are clean too. The service at Titas is always topnotch. The women that works this location is friendly and answered my questions about the food with a smile. The food is straight fire ! The wife and I come here 1-2 times a month. I've tried most everything on the menu and am hooked on the chicharon sandwich. Wife loves the beef plate. The yuca fries are amazing! The churros are not as sweet as traditional Mexican churros but they have some kind of filling in them which is delish. This is the best food cart at the Happy Valley food carts!

Yelp
Food carts can't always evoke much in the way of ambiance since they are typically connected to the location's ambiance. This was my first time at Happy valley carts and my first time eating Peruvian food. Service was friendly. Menu was interesting to me, which is why I chose it out of all the carts there. Only unfortunate thing is that the plate looked too beige/brown- a little bit more garnish (more green perhaps), would have made it 'pop' more? Tasted good. Really enjoyed the plantains.

Yelp
The food is amazing. They have several plates to choose from and combo options. The service is also great. They have a spacious indoor seating area as wells as outside. Yummy Peruvian food.

Yelp
Was good the first time, went back and they didn't include any tomatoes in the Loma Saltado sandwich and had very little meat compared to the first time. It's really a rice roll ordering from them and I probably won't be back. The pictures they post are very deceiving and you get about half the servings the pictures show and the sandwich was 80% bread when I ordered. Probably the most expensive bread roll i've ever purchased .
