"Tita’s Kitchen at the Portland Mercado knows people who graze like handheld options. Hence, the sandwiches featuring chicharron, lomo saltado, and yucca patties. All of those fillings are also available as plates served with yellow rice and plantains, but anyone who enjoys over-the-top creations needs to try Tita’s salchipapas, with the addition of shredded chicken and cheddar cheese, plus all three of their sauces: limey criolla, mild aji amarillo, and spicy rocoto. Tita’s Kitchen also has locations in Troutdale and Happy Valley." - Krista Garcia

Yelp
Atmosphere: Food truck Food: Lomo Saltado Sandwich Was very tasty. Had never seen this dish done in sandwich form which was unique Price: Price was okay but the portion could have been bigger Service: Good though really just ordered and waited for food Parking: Street parking although I think there is a lot

Yelp
I've now tried all the carts at the Mercado. The Double Yuca Patty was a satisfying non-meat option, I opted for the spicy version of their renowned criollo sauce. Window lady was nice, turnaround time was very reasonable. No lines and plenty of parking on a Sunday at Noon.

Yelp
Good food , good service and good atmosphere with ambiance. Fair price worth every penny. Also good working girl with little English know.

Yelp
Glad I asked for the medium sauce (mix of mild and hot) cause it was on the edge for me, and I do like spicy food, but I am (mostly) Polish. But not hot enough to dull the several flavors. The chicharron, its creamy sauce with peppers over the pulled pork, with a little layer of sweet potatoes. Some lettuce and pickled onions for texture, and what a great roll-- some toughness on the outside, great good and absorption on the inside. Very few sandwwch places make their own bread or rolls, and not all are careful enough, but Tita's got it perfect. Talked to someone eating the loma saltado--chunks of differently sauced beef, no sweet potatoes but the same roll, lettuce and tomato--and he really loved it. Next time.

Yelp
Not trying to be hyperbolic here, but their vegan yuca patty sandwich is probably in my top three best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Absolutely incredible. They are in the Portland Mercado which is a really nice place to sit and have lunch.

Yelp
Yucca sandwich! With terrific trimmings, great bread, spicy sauce (you can get it mild if you insist). I will be back to try other items but this is a killer vegetarian meal. $10 and enough for two people. Also the hours listed here aren't correct -- luckily for me and other diners tonight, a Monday. There were open until 8. Also you can get a beer or wine (even sake or a michelada) at the pub and bring it out to your picnic table. Fun spot, good food, good drink -- there was even live music tonight. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Fast, friendly and so delicious! It's been weeks since I was there and I am craving the food all the time. The sandwich was the perfect mix of fresh bread and ingredients, spicy and sweet, savory with a side of sweet plantains. Being able to get some extra sauces on the side was a huge perk, since all the sauces are made there and you can taste the difference. Cannot wait to come back! The humans in the cart were fun and worth the trip in itself. Friendly, helpful and made me laugh a couple times too.

Yelp
Delicious. Had the churros and the Inca chicken. Great flavor, not too heavy, was craving both again right after eating.

Yelp
I would brave a storm's wrath for the lomo soltado sam. Swift service, picnic tables!

Yelp
Their Chicharron Sandwich is the best sandwich I have ever had! Soft, delicious bun with perfectly tender, not too dry not too fatty slow cooked pork with a spicy sauce and fried sweet potato. Fantastic! A must try in PDX!

Yelp
Delicious new Peruvian food cart in the Mercado on SE Powell. Authentic and delicious. We had a Chicharon sandwich, with slow cooked pork and sweet potatoes. This was a joy from the first bite to the (sad) last. Best sandwich I have had in 7 covids. For dessert we had Alfajores, fresh soft cookies filed with manjar blanco. The owners are two sisters from Peru, very friendly and excited. I am also excited... That this cart is in the neighborhood! Next time we will have a platter with plantains and yucca.

Yelp
I've never tried Peruvian food but the sandwich I got (marinated steak) was SO GOOD! Not only that, but the service from the two gals Tita and Daisy was excellent- very friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely go back! Go to this Portland masterpiece

Yelp
Their Salchipapas are phenomenal!!! I think about that meal at least once a day! Do yourself a favor and try it! You won't regret it!

Yelp
Amazing food! Wonderful service! I love the Lomo Saltado wrap but don't get me started on the churros! Next we are going back for the fries. The couple in front of us ordered them and they looked amazing. Great portion sizes, fresh ingredients and tasty sauces...So goooood!!! we have a new food favorite and so will you!

Yelp
Today is a nice day out here in Portland so I decided to check out Tita's Kitchen. I ended up ordering their Chicharron sandwich and Papa a la Huancaina and I am absolutely taken back at how amazing they both were. I am a bit of a Peruvian food snob and let me tell you this place is the real deal. You absolutely must check it out. Not doing so would be a great disservice to yourself. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Sweet mother of God. The food here is so good. I get the Chicharrón everytime. This food is always fresh and always tasty. Keep it up!

Yelp
I really love Tita's Kitchen. We have enjoyed their sandwiches and it is easy to tell that each ingredient is fresh and of great quality. From the bread, to the vegetables, to the proteins. It really is a well engineered sandwich! Always a good choice. Highly recommend visiting this food cart.

Yelp
Amazing sandwiches! The food is so flavorful and yummy. I like everything I order from them. Staff are nice and it takes about 15-20 min to get food. It is part of Mercado food carts. Some of the very best sandwiches!

Yelp
So grateful this exists near me, I know the Troutdale Food Cart Pavillion just opened but we've eaten here twice in two days' time! These young women are so incredibly sweet! On the first day, we tried the Chicharron Sandwich.. SO GOOD! On the second day, I had my heart set on the chicken platter and the boiled potatoes with Peruvian cheese.. unfortunately, these things don't exist on the Troutdale menu :( The girls did however offer to make me a platter anyway! Everything on it was delicious including the rice, and omg the sweet plantains are probably the best I've had... and are also delicious dipped in their hot sauce.. pretty much anything that could be dipped? Was dipped in that sauce. There was even a small slice of the platter dedicated to what appeared to be pickled onions? Oh my, delish! I will return soon to try the Lomo Saltado. (Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of the chicken platter.. as it was devoured quite quickly, and I was sharing it.. which .. don't do that, seriously... you will want it all to yourself).

Yelp
I tried this place on a whim after the cart I had intended to go to was unexpectedly closed, and now Tita's is my favorite cart at the Mercado. The Chicharron sandwich is incredible, and the Tequeños was a great side. Cant wait to try the rest of the menu!

Yelp
THE BEST SANDWICH EVER! A must try place, try the Chicharon Sandwich! So glad I got to try this place when I visited Portland

Yelp
The best food i have had in a while, the sandwiches are amazing and my wife loves their rice and chicken platter with the mild sauce. Definitely one of our go to spots once a month or so!

Rachel B.

Yelp
Got the yuca sandwich and fried plantains. Very delicious. Also I got there around closing but they still served me which was so nice!!

Suzanne L.

Yelp
Excited to have this new option at the Mercado. Utterly delicious! Will be back to try everything on the menu!
