⭐️⭐️ 2/5
This place used to be one of our favorites — great meals in a cozy dining room with a roaring fireplace in winter. Not sure what happened, but the charm and the quality have definitely disappeared.
We arrived for a 7:15 PM Saturday reservation and were seated right away. The dining room was maybe 30% full, which should’ve been a sign. The fireplace isn’t used anymore, the atmosphere feels flat, and the crowds that used to fill the space just aren’t there.
We started with the tater tots, which had decent flavor but were nothing like actual tater tots — more like potato arancini. For entrées, we ordered the Southern Fried Chicken, something we’ve had many times and always enjoyed. Unfortunately, the quality has taken a big dive. The mashed potatoes tasted like something microwaved from a Bob Evans tray, the mac and cheese was watery, and the chicken itself was tough with inedible parts. I could barely cut through it because of a piece of gristle, and the visible veins were just… gross.
About 80% of the plate went uneaten. Our server didn’t ask why or seem to care, and the manager didn’t notice or inquire as she walked right past him with the barely touched food. We paid the check and left disappointed.
Walking out, we noticed only one other table occupied in the dining room at 7:30 PM on a Saturday. That says a lot. The bar area was packed, so I’m guessing that’s what’s keeping them afloat.
Sadly, we won’t be returning. After a couple of bad meals, this one sealed the deal. The place just isn’t what it used to be.
