"TMaz started as a tiny counter in a Mexican bakery and quickly became an Ann Arbor favorite. In addition to classic fillings like carne asada, al pastor, and chicharrones, you’ll find traditional antojitos, like handmade gorditas, huaraches, and a specialty of El Salvador, pupusas." - John Reyes

"Flavor and variety are represented well on the menu at this taqueria. The tacos and tortas come with a wide selection of meats — from the familiar grilled steak to cochinita pibil — a shredded, slow-roasted pork hailing from the Yucatan Peninsula. The pozole, a spicy pork and hominy-rich soup, is another must-have, especially on chilly Michigan days." - John Reyes

"When it comes to heartiness, there aren’t many soups that can match up to pozole — shredded pork and hominy in a pool of rich, spicy chile-infused broth. Tmaz serves a terrific version with a variety of garnishes like lime, shredded cabbage, chopped onions, and cilantro. Alternately, Tmaz’s earthy menudobeef tripe is another stellar option for soup season." - John Reyes

"Tacos are a popular hangover cure and Tmaz has over a dozen different options for fillings. If the situation calls for something stronger, go straight for the hearty pozole or menudo — spicy, hot soups filled with meat and vegetables." - John Reyes

MY PEOPLE! I work in the Plaza and eat here everyday for lunch. Quesadilla meal with double refried beans is my go to and they always do it well! Family like environment and extremely chill.

Stopped here for the first time and everything was excellent! I had both shredded pork and beef tacos, and my wife had pupusas and an enchilada. The staff took time explaining all the food options and are awesome. I will make a point of stopping in for a bite when I'm back in A2 again.

I asked question about the menu due to it only being my second time eating there. I order my tacos w/ carnitas and steak on it and rice and menudo. I waited for my order took it home and realized that my taco order was completely wrong. I ordered the Taco Supreme Meal and my taco had traditional toppings (onions & cilantro) on it as well as order double rice and no beans and my order had beans with it. Maybe something was lost between the woman that took my order and the cooks that made it. They were deep in conversation while making my food, but i feel like the simple mistake shouldnt have happened with only 3 other there and myself as well. Im disappointed in the lack of accuracy with my meal and i probably wont eat here again.

Overall this place is a 10/10. Very tasty food at a reasonable price and they are always so friendly. Would absolutely recommend them to a friend!

Tmaz is an amazing place, and I’m so thankful to have it in our neighborhood. It’s a family owned place and everyone working there is super friendly and nice. And if you want to dine in they’ve got a large space for seating with great music playing all the time. They have a lot of different options to choose from on the menu, and the agua Fresca is always 👌👌👌

I hate leaving bad reviews but I have to after this one. I ordered one steak taco, one tostada and chips and pick de Gallo. The taco was just ok, the tostada had what seemed to be old crusty beans, soft tomatoes and bad lettuce. The $6 pico and chips topped it all. See pics below; cold, broken up pieces of old hard tortillas. Absolutely disgusting. I ate the taco, took bite of the tostada, laughed at the chips and threw the rest in the trash. I came here because of the good reviews and the pics online but won’t come back. That was a waste of $20 and I am still hungry. I am also mildly concerned about getting food poisoning after seeing their food prep station and the way some of the ingredients at this place look. Yuck!

Ordered a carnitas taco. 1) it wasn't fried. 2) it had so many fatty pieces, not edible. Also ordered a tinga quesadilla and was given a veggie quesadilla. But by far the grossest thing was the churrasco wrap. The picture on the menu does not even represent what is given to you. It was a bunch of mayo with some soupy, store bought coleslaw, and a few pieces of unseasoned steak meat. It's crazy to me that people find this place good. Service was very slow, their dining area was sketchy, and the chips was so not tasty. Take the extra drive and go to S.W. Detroit for the real deal.
