Rotating seasonal menu with intimate, candlelit ambiance
"To Be Determined doesn’t rely on half-naked fire dancers or dress codes to be sexy. They do it through restraint. Call it quiet sex appeal. Couples lean in and share cavatelli sprinkled (not suffocated) with truffle while candlelight and seductive trip-hop beats bounce off the dark limewashed walls. The eight-dish menu helps if you’re an indecisive first date. And dishes change every few weeks, in case you want to have a second or fifth date here. The food keeps you on your toes, the space is seductive, and the service makes you feel appreciated. Here’s hoping your relationship does the same." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
"It is too easy to settle for summer date nights inside, huddled around AC and sheltered from sinister clouds on the horizon. But To Be Determined is exactly the sort of candlelit space you want to be trapped in with a loved one during a thunderstorm. Linger here over wine and rotating seasonal dishes. Then stay for an extra glass at the bar if it’s still pouring outside." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo
"Like their name suggests, the menu here is constantly changing. Dishes rotate every few weeks, chasing what’s available and fresh. You’ll pine over delicate raw scallops with strawberry aguachile on your first visit. The next dinner introduces you to a buttery truffle cavatelli. Only their creamy flan has been a mainstay on their eight-dish menu since they opened, and we pray it stays that way. The candlelit dining room is small, intimate, and perfect for date night. This is the kind of restaurant you’ll want to return to often so you can keep trying all the new things on the revolving menu." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
"To Be Determined knows how to build more tension than a Brazilian soap opera. They do it with candles, trip-hop beats, and a small but exciting menu that changes every few weeks. When the sun goes down, it gets so dark that you can make shadow puppets with candlelight. TBD is the sort of moody place you’ll want to linger in long after the flan is done. But please don’t. Another couple is waiting for your table." - mariana trabanino, ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
"To Be Determined’s flan lives in a creamy reality between flan and quesillo. They let it rest for hours after baking, so it coalesces into a velvety little puck with no air trapped inside—and is sweeter than most flans. It almosts tastes like crème brûlée. We get (and love) that TBD’s menu changes constantly, but we’ll be quietly devastated if this flan ever goes missing." - virginia otazo, mariana trabanino
