Worst meal we have ever had in Paris.
Ambiance 7/10
Service 6/10
Food 3/10
Let’s start with the ambiance. This is a nice looking restaurant. Tables are well spaced and decor is classy. The restaurant has several different sections. We were in the second second section from the entrance. We found the lighting in this section to be a tad bright. Slightly more dim lighting would have added to the ambiance. Near the end of our meal, there were large groups of people, likely waiting for their table just behind us which felt a bit intrusive.
Next, let’s talk about the service. There were many different staff members who served us. All were pleasant and helpful, however we felt they were undertrained for parts of their job. The description of the dishes as they arrived was hurried without much detail and when asked for more info, one of them responded that he was only working there for three weeks and didn’t know. In their defence, some of the hurried descriptions may have been when they had to translate the descriptions to English as half of our table did not speak French.
Another note about the service is that when you order the most expensive bottle of champagne on the menu, it should not come out warm when they pour you the first glass to test the taste. We had to let the bottle sit in the ice bucket after the initial glass for part of the meal before it was cold enough to enjoy. Also the wait staff did not take note when our glasses were empty and several times we had to get up to grab the bottle ourselves to top up our glasses.
Finally, let’s talk about the food. The presentation of the food was nice, however, the quality of the meal itself was absolutely terrible. The cauliflower soup seemed nice initially until you bit into the kale chip which had a horrible bitter taste to it. The next dish, the fish ceviche was just a pile of chopped salmon and tuna with no flavour. Did they forget to add seasoning or forget the sauce? The main fish was disgusting. It was too salty, had an extremely strong fishy taste, and was slimy and greasy. When the meat dish arrived, I had such difficulty cutting the beef that it was almost amusing. The cut of beef was tender in some areas but so extremely tough in others that it was a challenge to chew. Maybe we should have opted for the Wagyu, but even for non-wagyu beef, it should not be so tough. While it was cooked to a nice medium rare color, the beef also lacked any true flavour other than the teriyaki sauce that it was covered in. By this stage, we joked that we were happy to have only ordered the six-course chef’s tasting menu as we weren’t sure we could endure an extra two courses!
Finally the dessert came, which was ok but we found it a bit over-sweet. Overall the meal was by far the worst meal we have ever had in Paris in any restaurant we have dined in.
If you want to blow 500+ Euros on a meal, spend it elsewhere. We were extremely disappointed in this meal and would definitely not recommend this restaurant.
