Yelp
I was finally able to corral and coordinate my family's crazy schedules to stop by here for breakfast one recent Saturday Morning. I was hoping to accomplish two goals by eating at Toast-Murrieta:
1. Finally eat here;
2. Get a decent, filling meal that will last us thru the day since we would not be eating again (See review for "Roma D' Italia") until after the Trans Siberian Orchestra matinee concert.
Upon entering the spacious parking lot, Toast-Murrieta is located in the Southeast area of a strip mall where Denny's is located both of which are located across the street from Walmart.
After parking my vehicle, I added my name to the Yelp wait list which at the time I was registering, was indicating a 0-15 minute wait time. I checked in with a very friendly hostess who advised us our wait would be a few minutes as they prepped a table for our party of six adults.
Our table was soon ready and we were led to the first table inside that is situated at the front door entrance. I was a bit skeptical that the constant flow of traffic entering and exiting the restaurant would make for a chilly dining experience, but somehow, the cold air draft hitting our table from the door was minimal.
Soon, our server arrived. She was friendly, efficient and answered all of my parties questions about the menu patiently.
Our order consisted of:
Wife: Biscuits & Gravy ($16.50) Comes with 2 Eggs and a side (Hash Browns) w/a Man-Mosa ($9.00);
Son #1: Eggs Your Way ($16.50) Comes with choice of meat (Bacon), Toast (Sourdough), and a Side (Hash Browns) + Soda ($4.00);
Son #2: Breakfast Fries ($17.00) + Soda ($4.00);
Aunt: Eggs Your Way ($16.50) Hash Browns, Toasted Squaw Bread, Bacon + Hazelnut Latte ($6.50);
Uncle: Apple Pie French Toast ($14.00), Extra Bacon ($6.00) + Decaf Coffee ($4.00)
Me: Chicken Fried Chicken ($19.50) + Soda ($4.00)
Pre-Tip Subtotal: $149.49
Our orders arrived in a timely manner considering how busy the restaurant was while we were there.
Every plate presented to us, including the Latte, decaf coffee and Man-Mosa was very eye appealing and appetizing to look at. I forgot to take a photo of buy Uncle's decaf, but to see how they presented it with a rainbow flecked biscotti, and the sugar and cream, show care and class. It was not your typical cup of decaf brought to your table sloshing around in a mug.
I tried my wife's Man-Mosa and it was really good. It was refreshing and tasty even on a cold November day.
We all begin to eat and it was pretty silent at our table the first few minutes. Everyone was really enjoying their selections! Everyone commented on much they all liked the hash browns that accompanied their selections!
I was really enjoying my chicken fried chicken!! When I was ordering this, I was hoping this would keep me fortified until dinner, I mean how big can a chicken thigh get? Well, when I saw it, the thigh was the size of a good sized chicken breast. The thigh was fried but really juicy and flavorful resting on a soft four biscuit smothered in a real good white gravy. The gravy was thick and very flavorful not tasting like uncooked flour with the consistency of wet cement. Those pecorino potatoes was something I never had before, but I really like them! The two sunny side up cooked eggs resting on top of this mountain of deliciousness made this so much the better once I popped the yolks to blend in with the gravy and chicken. This damn chicken biscuit combo was so large, I was unable to finish it, and ended up taking it home to enjoy later.
All I can say about Toast-Murrieta was we all were very happy with our selections, both our servers were awesome, and we will become regulars, as well as bringing our out of town relatives to enjoy this place.
