I recently went to Toasted Del Mar for brunch with a couple of friends, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The first thing that stood out was the atmosphere — the decor is stylish and inviting, that made it feel like the perfect spot for a relaxed weekend meal. Whether you’re sitting inside or out, it’s a bright, welcoming space that sets the tone for a leisurely brunch. We came in around 9:30am on Saturday and there was no wait. We tried three savory dishes: the shrimp & grits, short rib Benny, and the ABC hash. The shrimp & grits were the standout — creamy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The short rib Benny had a nice twist but came with a bit of a kick, so heads up if you’re not into spice. The ABC hash was just okay. For something sweet, we shared the stuffed French toast and loved it — a nice balance to the savory items. Service was another high point. Our server was attentive, friendly, and kept things moving at a comfortable pace. We never felt rushed, and we also didn’t have to wait long for anything. Toasted Del Mar is worth visiting if you’re looking for a beautiful setting and a relaxed brunch with friends.

I have been wanting to try Toasted for a while! I was in the area with my friend and saw there one in Del Mar so we went! We walked in and had to wait about 3 minutes for anyone to come up and great us. We were seated right by the entrance which was fine but we were so far from all the other tables.. even trying to get more water was difficult due to the distance and lack of staff.. The inside of the restaurant was really nice inside and inviting but it was a week day during lunch and it there was only three tables filled. Two inside and one outside. We were served water and I asked for a new glass because mine looked like it wasnt cleaned very well.. We ordered the ABC Hash and the Grilled Cheese. The ABC Hash came out warm.. like the food wasn't made fresh but prepped before hand.. I think the only thing fresh were the eggs. The bacon in it didn't taste the freshest either.. but the potatoes were good and the eggs cooked almost perfectly. I think the food would have been amazing if it was fresh. The Grilled Cheese was made on sour dough bread with a Parmesan crust and it was actually delicious with good quality cheese. Overall, Toasted was good and I'd like to try more ln the menu but I think I will try a different location next time.

Visiting San Diego for the holidays. This was the first restaurant we stopped at. The lobster scramble was delicious. The portion of lobster was great. I also had a lavender lemonade mimosa that paired nicely. It wasn’t too sweet. My daughters (14&12) had the pancakes. The portion was too large for them but the meal was good.

We continue to come to Toasted and are never disappointed. Nathan provided the very best service for our big party. He was attentive, had great recommendations and was friendly. Karen also came to visit our table and she too was top notch. The food never disappoints. We had a variety of food at our table and I think the Elvis Pancakes and Eggs Benedict were some of the faves. The breakfast cocktails were also fantastic. Thank you for the consistent dining experience! This team that you have are incredible!

Perfect for groups of any size! They easily accommodate large parties and families. Even though it's usually very easy to get a seat, because of the many dining options in this area, would still recommend a reservation. The outside patio is absolutely lovely with pretty sky views. Service was perfectly fine. Good value for your money with the great portions and solid tasting meals. Add salt to taste but over all very clean food, nicely prepared. I felt satisfied and not sluggish after my fancy Eggs Benedicts with crispy little potato balls with truffley shavings on top. Drip coffee is great! Will come back for some of those wild bloody Marys!

We went to this place for brunch, and it's pretty new to this strip mall for us! Since we hadn't visited the strip mall in a while, anyway, this place looks beautiful and nicely decorated for brunch, and I like their decor! The food was nice, the staff was friendly, portions were big, and we were stuffed all day long! I would definitely come back again if we're driving close to Del Mar!

Great food, friendly staff. Eggs Benedict were very good, perfectly cooked egg to my liking and delicious thick cut ham. The hollandaise was very good too. The side was truffle Parmesan potatoes which were quite rich but tasty.

You can’t beat Sammy’s for happy hour! Even though we sat outside the booths were comfortable and it’s still enclosed. We went for the duck tacos the pizza lettuce wraps and more. It was all good! So a lot of people with their dogs in the patio. So you don’t have to leave them at home :-)

Yelp
Toasted is a trendy yet unpretentious spot, and Mikee, their standout bartender, embodies that vibe perfectly. His friendly demeanor and expert guidance in choosing the right drink made my visit memorable. The Lavender Lady, one of his suggestions, with its blend of gin, sparkling wine, and lavender, is the epitome of a perfect Del Mar libation. Cheers to Mikee and Toasted for creating such a fantastic experience!

Yelp
Our waiter David G was fantastic! He was very funny and kind. He is the reason we're likely to come back. The food was amazing and the menu consisted of a variety of meals. We do, however, wish the restaurant would close the outside curtains because the sun is blinding! That is the only reason we are giving 3 stars :)

Brianna E.

Yelp
We came here for brunch and the food and drinks were amazing! Tiana offered amazing service and drink suggestions. highly recommend!

Yelp
Absolutely Amazing experience From the moment we entered the restaurant the host greeted us with a friendly smile It was pretty empty and quiet which was nice We couldn't decide if we wanted to sit outside or inside due to the weather The host gave us the option of eating outside and if it got too cold we could come inside which was amazing we loved the flexibility The decor and view from the patio was stunning I loved the Real plants and cheetah print ceiling The seats made my booty feel soo welcomed and comfortable while my back felt so held Our server was Helena and she was just as friendly and kind The drinks were delicious but the food was even better !! We tried the mimosa flight And each one was delicious in its own way The food was perfection 10/10 The presentation was beautiful and the flavor was mouth watering I loved that the host actually took our order As our server Helena was busy And she helped me decide how I wanted my eggs cooked She took the time to listen to what I wanted And explained the different types of eggs ( sunny side up vs medium ) The attention to detail and desire to help us made us feel special The shrimp& grits made me wanna dance in my seat The grits were cheesy and well seasoned The shrimp was cooked perfectly And the sausage bites added the right amount of salt to the dish The French toast was soft and sweet And my moms Salmon toast was light and delicious We will definitely be returning ! Side note They offer Bottomless Mimosas for only $25!!

Yelp
The dinner menu needs reworking. It's all over the place and yet nothing seems to stand out. The steak frites was over $30 and was a small of hanger steak and some lukewarm truffle-ish fries. Same issue with the burger - I think it was $22 and had too much going on (brioche too soft bun, over easy egg, bacon, tomato etc). Was a mess to eat and couldn't even taste the burger at the end (and the burger itself was barely warm). Disappointing because we used to like Sammy's. Also no happy hour menu as of yet.

Yelp
This is a nice spot in Del Mar Highlands that replaces Sammie's, across from Cross Street. When we went, it was the yellow brunch side of the menu. Lots of sweet and savory menu items to choose from and I decided on the fried chicken and pancake to get a bit of both. I thought the chicken was really well executed, it was definitely crispy and the inside shreds of chicken meat were moist. The portion was huge with 3 pancakes and one was enough to be filling for me. I'm glad I got the syrup on the side because it was a hot sauce syrup and had a low but potentially dangerous heat.
google avatar

Lauren K.

Yelp
Wanted to try a new spot. This place is so cute inside. Love the bohemian vibe. I ordered the good ol Benny which was really good and the Parmesan fries were bomb !! My husband ordered steak and eggs and said the steak was really good as well. He also ordered the red monster and said it was spicy but good. All the servers were really friendly and the hostess. Go check them out :)

Yelp
Went here for breakfast on a Saturday morning and the restaurant was almost empty. Overall the food was tasty and the latte art was adorable. Decorations have a trendy retro type vibe and service was very good. Menu had a couple of gluten free options and while the avocado toast was yummy for $20 it wasn't a lot of food
google avatar

Yelp
This spot replaced Sammy's and I love it even more! I tried the La Mesa location and liked it so much to take my family to the Del Mar spot today. It was crowded for Father's Day but I put my name on the waitlist beforehand and didn't have to wait to get seated. The decor here is just as cute as the La Mesa location and they had the same food options. I really liked the toasts, they were well portioned and had great combinations of flavors. I'll be back soon!

Vivian T.

Yelp
Managers Tiana and Sandy were incredible. They were very attentive the whole time we were dining. The food was exquisite, chef Chema is skillfully talented. I loved the ambiance of the patio. First time here and I'm definitely coming back! I'm blown away by the attention to detail and overall experience.

Yelp
They have changed Sammy's to Toasted. I found the decor so strange. Nothing flows together. The service is average. Kinda slow. Everyone at my table enjoyed their meal except me. I ordered the steak sandwich and for my personal taste there was way too much mayo and mustard that couldn't be scraped off because it's on a French loaf with many air holes.

Carlos B.

Yelp
Great food. Great service. Put the kidsin a coma for a long ride home. What more can you ask for?

Yelp
I love Toasted - new Del Mar location is great! Food, atmosphere, service and cocktails are all vibing!

Yelp
They get a star for the new renovations and a star for friendly (ish) service. The food was terrible. Basically Sammy's extended their hours and added a breakfast menu and rebranded. Smart. But the brunch food isn't as good as the classic lunch/dinner menu. I had the pork belly hash, it was cold and the pork belly tasted like it had been doused with liquid smoke. The dish was greasy, and everything tasted the same. The side of rosemary toast (extra $1.50) was one piece of toasted, unbuttered bread. I was glad that I didn't detect the rosemary, which can be overwhelming. Butter should be served on the side, or the server should inquire if the guest would like butter. This meal was a 1 out of 5. My companion had the bacon benedict, which was a great presentation. The asparagus spears topped the eggs and were drizzled with hollandaise. Had the spears been cut in half it would have been easier to navigate and eat without having to disassemble everything. The bacon was similar to the pb. too smoky. The hollandaise was excellent. This meal was a 3 out of 5. We ordered an iced coffee, the server didn't mention that she was just going to pour hot coffee over ice...the coffee was poor quality, the ice was melted. It would be helpful to let the guest know that coffee could be iced, but they didn't have it already cold. Our server was friendly and initially she was attentive. We had to ask for water refills and iced tea refills. She never checked on our satisfaction after delivering the food and every time she or another server walked by we felt like a nuisance, stopping them to ask for water, tea, ketchup, then Tabasco, more water, etc. The new decor is fantastic and the furniture is comfortable and cozy. I'm really sad that Snooze is gone so Toasted is the new breakfast place on the block. Also, because there was definitely enough breakfast business for two restaurants. I suppose, with unlimited mimosa's brunch might be okay- but it's unlikely I'll be back, other than for a delicious, overpriced salad?

Yelp
Amazing experience! Loved the decor! Tea our server was so sweet and attentive. But let's talk about the food... omg it was so good! We left so full! Highly recommend Toasted.

Annie B.

Yelp
The place is 10/10! The hostess was warm and welcoming. The food was spectacular. My daughter and I shared two dishes. We ordered the avocado toast with lobster. It was so fresh and tasty with a hint is truffle oil. We also shared the short rib eggs Benedict. The short ribs were tender and delicious. It came with potato rounds that were dusted with salty Parmesan. Honestly I could not stop popping them into my mouth! Our server was attentive and he checked in just the right amount. I can't wait to go back! This was the best dining experience I have had in a really long time. Kudos to staff!!

Yelp
It was delicious! Loved the decor, very friendly, fast and professional and really like the food. We need more breakfast places and this is a Great one, also I absolutely loved that they can print anything on a cup of coffee! Awesome!

Yelp
Tried their brunch menu and I have to give them a 2 star and their dinner menu a 4 star. Ordered the steak and eggs for $30. It was NOT worth it. Asked for medium rare and it came out dry and tough. Ordered the chicken sandwich and it was three dry pieces of tenders over a bun. Impossible to eat. Had to deconstruct it with a fork and knife. The smoked salmon toast was lacking acidity and salt, very one note. Overall great remodel but won't be coming back here for brunch. Their dinner menu starts at 4pm FYI.
google avatar

Mark D.

Yelp
Since the first round was a winner I can say forget the brunch battlegrounds! Toasted in Del Mar is the place to be. Their "Eggs in Purgatory" were a flavor symphony - perfectly poached egg atop a tangy tomato sauce, begging to be dipped with crusted bread. Mikee our bartender paired a perfectly balanced Bloody Mary with our brunch that didn't overpower the great flavors. Not just brunch but a great experience.
google avatar

Kyna N.

Yelp
This one fell flat for me. Chicken and waffles sounded good but they had chicken and pancakes so I thought, what could go wrong.. well the menu should state that it's chicken tenders and not a thigh or breast like I was expecting. The pancakes themselves still had chunks of flour in them from not being fully incorporated into the batter and were topped with a literal fistful of green onion. It was a weird flavor profile. Not a fan. Upside was the server was nice about it and took it off the bill for us.
google avatar

Sandy S.

Yelp
Toasted Del Mar is a new restaurant that got Revamped by Sammy's Pizza, I'm obsessed with the idea of keeping the same dinner options for all of us Sammy's regulars (just make sure you come in during dinner time ) I stopped by during brunch for breakfast and also had the all you can drink mimosas !! I had the Eggs in Purgatory with Sunny Side eggs , the sauce gives it a kick of spice and the mint balances the whole dish it's a Definite MUST! The bread bowl allows you to complete your meal with such fullness you won't regret it! My friend had the French Omlet with Truffle potatoes and a side of roasted tomato overall 5 out of 5 meal great job to the kitchen and Chef! Will be back !!:)
google avatar

Christina K.

Yelp
This place was great! We had a great server. And all of the food was fantastic. We sat out on the front patio, and it was lovely! My kids loved the hanging chairs as much as the French toast! I will definitely return.
google avatar

Jess M.

Yelp
The Food was absolutely amazing!! We were in Del Mar and decided to look up a place to grab some quick lunch with the doggo. Their pet-friendly patio let us bring the dog and enjoy a nice day out. We ended up getting the chicken strips and fish tacos. The side of chips were the best restaurant tortillas chips we have had! Our server Tiana was absolutely amazing and so kind and helpful! Definitely recommend and We will ABSOLUTELY be back!!
google avatar

Fikriye K.

Yelp
Went there today. Nice people and great decor. Coffee was also good. The food though was something. We were two and ordered the stuffed French toast because it sounded so good. The server agreed. Well it wasn't so good. It was swimming in a sea of syrup that turned the meal into a desert and pretty much inedible. We sorted out the berries to balance the overpowering sweetness. Another minus was the level of noise and the lack of soft surface absorbing it. On top of it the blasting music made it unbearable. I won't go again and won't recommend the place to anyone.
google avatar

Tia S.

Yelp
Love the ambiance here; it's bright, clean, and spacious. Although, our server was great, I definitely think there are some things that need improvement such as whomever is making the drink. I would give them some grace at this point since they are fairly new. Food was ok. I'd definitely come back in a little while and try something else.
google avatar

Linda A.

Yelp
I needed to do something fun on my staycation so my friend Susan and I picked Toasted to have dinner and catch up on our families etc. Eddie did a great job keeping up with our meals and appetizers. Our waters were always filled and he kept checking on us. The manager stopped by to see how things were and we truly had an enjoyable evening out
google avatar

Janine F.

Yelp
Slow service at a slow lunch. I only saw one server. Ordered the avocado toast and it was barely toasted. Had some slivered almonds and arugula on top. Avocado tasted like it was premade from a store. I could've made better toast. The name of the restaurant is Toasted, right? Expensive restaurant. $16 for bread topped with avocado and almonds. Go to Parakeet Cafe if you want good avocado toast .

Barb C.

Yelp
The manager responded to my two star review. We like the place but we preferred snooze. My husbands steak was well done, etc, etc. someone responded to my review and very politely answered my concerns.
google avatar

Andrea M.

Yelp
Went to the soft open. They had a guitarist to set the mood. Ordered the breakfast burrito with red sause and barbacoa. This burrito was really delicious and our server Heather was amazing. I will definitely be going to Tosted again.
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
We had a wonderful brunch to celebrate a friend's baby. The ambiance was perfect for this occasion. We sat out on the patio and had perfect weather. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure our coffee and mimosas stayed full. They had a ton of options for mimosas and their menu had options for the savory and sweet. All in all, we really enjoyed our time and our food.

Beth B.

Yelp
Greg was the best waiter! Super attentive and friendly. The food was great too!! I've been here a few times and food is always great!

Kaitlyn M.

Yelp
Love this restaurant! The host, Asia, was so welcoming and helpful. Will definitely be coming back!

Cynthia R.

Yelp
Had breakfast to celebrate a friend's birthday. Wow it was delicious. The chilaquiles were a standout. Wow! Our waitress was wonderful and I can't wait to go back. The place looks charming and the food was fabulous. They did great with the remodel. (Wished they had fully redone the restrooms because they need it.) Can't wait to go back.

Foodie C.

Yelp
I want this place to survive because Snooze closed!! Having said that I don't see longevity here if they don't change up the menu. There simply are not enough options and certainly not for the healthy conscious. I dunno but I was the only patron in the restaurant on Monday morning, during a holiday week!! Take this as not a criticism but as a heads-up. It's not too late to bring in someone/foodie who knows the demographics. Head over to Parakeet or Breakfast Republic, for ideas as to why those places have waitlists. Also, are you a breakfast spot or dinner spot. You can't do both, well.

Kurt S.

Yelp
The old Sammy's (was there forever) is now toasted. The decor has changed and is pleasant, but the menu is different and the service def. is. The waitstaff was unfriendly and cold. Not friendly. I ordered an overpriced cobb salad that was to have turkey on it,,,,no turkey to be found....so small for about $20 and didn't even come with the bread that Sammy's did. No drink refills offered and a general feeling of: pay your bill, add a tip and get out. The ladies at the table next to ours weren't having any better a time and had to call a manager. I spoke to the manager as well who also didn't really care if I was a satisfied customer or not.... Will not be back...so sad, ate at that sammy's location for 20 years!

Mike R.

Yelp
As a followup, want to give kuddos to the admin with Toasted. They took my concerns very seriously and seemed to really want to make the utmost attention that this experience didn't happen to anyone else. Really reflects highly on how the restaurant is operated. Upgraded the ratings to reflect the positive and careful followup on their end.

Lauren T.

Yelp
Really friendly staff and fun vibe. We went family style, so I got to taste a bunch of different things... the chilaquiles had a nice kick and weren't greasy, the eggs in purgatory is really unique and delicious, the smoked salmon toast is really good but the true winner was the COCONUT PISTACHIO KANAFEE. omg. Save room and get one for the table.
google avatar

Edzel Peter B.

Yelp
The restaurant is packed and I did not make a reservation which is my mistake because it's almost lunch and so there was a line, we were asked if we wants to seat at the bar and we accepted since it will take like a good half an hour before we'd be able get in. There was only one receptionist and I think she is the manager. As soon as we got seated we ordered, I had the Denver scrambled with Portuguese sausage and the potato balls with Parmesan cheese really good potatoes and since I love Portuguese sausage the Denver omelette was a hit for me, my daughter ordered the shrimp and grits, I was going to order that but since she already ordered it I just took some from her and it is good, it has Portuguese sausage as well and she ordered some toast to go with it. Our waiter is really nice he is also the bartender and he took care of us. This place is big and there's even seat outside and it looks like a regular restaurant. Nicely decorated simple but not too much for my taste.

Yelp
Underwheling establishment. Ambience and decor was nice but tables in the patio section were bit too close to each other. We were there early morning and there was no one at front desk to greet us. We waited for several minutes before someone came over and seated us. Our waiter was friendly but inefficient. Latte was good and the best part of our breakfast. Food was simply not good. I had a coffee cake pancake with side of potato. Potato had triffle oil which I can't stand. Unfortunately it was not mentioned in the menu. If I knew I wouldn't have ordered it. When I told our waiter about my dislike, he kindly took it back and brought a new one without the oil. Now ontopancake... Our waiter brought my pancake but no maple syrup. I figured maybe it's the kind that I don't need syrup, so I tried a bite and it had strange/overpowering sour flavor. I then thought maybe if I eat with the coffee cake topping it will taste better...nope. It still had weird sour flavor. Our waiter came by to check on us and realized he forgot to bring maple syrup. Ah! Ok maybe with maple syrup, it will taste better. Nope. It was still really sour. They also use fake maple syrup. The sticky/thick kind. I would expect this kind of establishment to at least use real one. Anyway, basically it was inedible. It was that bad. I told waiter and he simply took the plate away and didn't take off our bill/didn't offer any type of discount. My guess is that they used too much sour milk and didn't mix the batter well. Maybe it's too new and they need to work out the kinks. I might give them another try but then there are many other good breakfast restaurants around, it will be a while until I go back again.
google avatar

Sandra U.

Yelp
Can not recommend enough! Heather was our server during their soft opening and did an excellent job. The updates to the building are the perfect mix of 60s mod and bohemian giving the whole restaurant such a cozy vibe. The menu is fun and diverse and the cocktails are phenomenal. Thank you so much Toasted for the amazing evening.

Carol S.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place as they're close to my home, but I've given them a couple of tries and both times it was a bad experience. Once I went for breakfast with two other diners, there was no one to seat us for the longest time and they brought the food out 25 minutes apart for the different people I our party! We didn't even get water for 25 minutes. Beyond that it was so overpriced it was startling. $18.50 for a dessert? We went again last night and gave it another chance. I ordered the short ribs. They arrived cold, the carrots weren't even cooked, and there were maybe three or four small overcooked potato pieces on the plate. It was $33! I can't believe this dish cost so much and it was cooked so poorly. I don't understand why this place doesn't make some changes to their menu and mostly to their service where food is brought out at different times and isn't served properly heated The decor is OK but confusing. I don't know what the theme is as there are three or four different kinds of flooring, animal prints on the ceiling, and flowers on the wall. Nothing seems to go together. I really liked the decor at Sammy's as well as their menu. It's sad to see Sammy's and Snooze go and this come in as a replacement. I just don't understand, how they're going to make it. I do wish them luck tho'.

Yelp
I typically had to drive to Oceanside for my fix, so I couldn't be happier to have a Toasted in the neighborhood! I was devastated to learn that Sammy's Food & Wine had left, and know there's one near by...but happy to have a spot I know and love move in. The decor and remodel of Toasted is absolutely classy, cute, light and trendy! I already know the menu, but tried the Bacon Benedict for a first time...OMG- how was I missing out on these flavors? The balsamic reduction over the hollandaise and asparagus was amazing...I used my little Parmesan truffle potato's and grilled tomato to get every last bit on my plate! My friend loved her Chilaquiles; packed with flavor and spice- it's hard to get both! The staff was very efficient and friendly- cooks looked focused, servers looked fresh... Dylan took fantastic care of us the entire time! On our way out, we grabbed more coffee and food for take out at the bar. Couldn't resist. The hilarious barista laser-printed our faces in our latte foam! How freaking cool is that!? Super happy to have Toasted in the neighborhood, check them out! *fun fact: Toasted is part of the Sammy's family and I can still enjoy some of my favorite Sammy's items on the menu exclusively for dinner... I found my home!

Yelp
We were sat by the nicest host ever, Asia. She welcomed us with a smile and the food was amazing!! The rosemary sourdough is to die for.

Yelp
Come on here for the first time last Sunday. Definitely a brunch spot so you should reserve a seat of you want to seat outside. New, clean place with nice ambiance. Our server Fatima was on point. Super nice and friendly. Bottomless mimosas couldn't go wrong. The Bloody Mary is fire as well.

Yelp
Food is amazing. Our service Karen is great. We will definitely come back. I love the writing in my coffee
google avatar

Yelp
Our waitress Karen is no Karen. She was very kind, funny, and had a great attitude. Our food was delicious and I was blown away! Highly recommend coming here with your family, the restaurant itself is super pretty and the waiters are super enthusiastic.

Yelp
I met a good friend for breakfast this past Monday. It was a beautiful morning in Del Mar and we decided to sit in the patio. A nice breeze came through the patio making for a comfortable atmosphere. We both ordered the Lobster Toast. It was hard to choose with so many good choices. The Lobster Toast was tasty and the bread was hearty enough to hold the ingredients.I ordered the Latte at $6, which was extremely small and mostly foam, about 6oz. The service was good, however the food took a long time at no fault of the server.

Our server Heather was great! I had the brisket skillet. Outstanding! I'd include a picture but I at it all. Blood orange Bellini was very good. My 4 y.o. is on his 4th piece of bacon. Easy to understand how they are the #1 brunch spot in the US.
