The Best Places for Poutine in Metro Detroit | Eater Detroit

"Visit Toasted Oak during brunch for some seriously souped-up poutine, because being hungover calls for something extravagent. Not only are these fries topped with gravy and cheese curds, but also pork belly confit, onions, mushrooms, and a poached egg." - Mickey Lyons

I visited this restaurant for Saturday brunch and absolutely loved it—perfect for a ladies’ day out. The ambiance is elegant and inviting, with a beautiful display of wine collections greeting you right at the entrance. The food presentation was stunning, and each dish had a refined touch that made us feel truly well taken care of. We started the morning with a fresh mimosa and freshly brewed coffee—both were perfect to awaken the palate. The share platter included a homemade blueberry jam that wasn’t overly sweet but rich in flavor. I loved it so much I ended up buying a jar to take home! Overall, the atmosphere, attention to detail, and flavors made this brunch a memorable experience. I’d definitely come back.

Google
I’d give it more than 5 stars if I could! Brie gave amazing service. I’m talking top notch!! She was personable, funny, and knowledgeable about the food. I got the Honeycrisp Apple Salad with Toasted Almond Fig Vinaigrette and blackened chicken. PHENOMENAL! One of the most delicious salads I’ve ever had.

My husband and I tried this restaurant on Saturday to celebrate his birthday based on a recommendation. The Calamari looked like chicken nuggets and was rubbery and chewy. The server said a few others had sent theirs back that night and she thought it was chewy when she had it the week before. We ordered the Grilled Filets for dinner They came with redskin potatoes and carrots. Presentation was unappealing. The carrots were charred, burnt beyond recognition and hard as a rock. The Brussel Sprouts that we ordered as a side dish were burnt as well. Another customer sent her meal back. The manager offered her another meal and a complimentary dessert. He never came by our table. We would have sent our meal back and ordered something else but didn’t have that opportunity. We weren’t asked about dessert and server knew it was his birthday. What a disappointment for $200+.

We tried 3 restaurants in 3 days in the Novi, Michigan area while attending a recent trade show. Toasted Oak Grill was the best in all categories. Food quality, presentation, atmosphere, service. We sat in the wonderful bar- felt more like a private hunting club dining room in the Scottish Highlands than a bar in a hotel in Michigan- and were served by the engaging bartender Jeff. He suggested wine pairings, beer selections and a smokey Manhattan that he prepared at our table. Food was excellent.

Google
My wife and I eat here a few times a year. She has severe food allergies. Last night Chef Jasmin and Wait Person Jeff went out of their way to make sure she could enjoy a safely prepared meal. THE FOOD (Halibut) and DRINKS WERE PHENOMENAL !! Your kindness was very much appreciated !!

Google
Had dinner with Mom and Daughter. Jeff was great. Service was fast. Food hot and delicious. The restaurant director, Brett, took good care of us, she made sure we had everything we needed. Top notch service at a top notch restaurant. I had the short ribs. They were so tender they melted in my hungry mouth.

Chris Mccarthy

Google
Not a bad experience. Burger was really really good. But-Alfredo is bland. Fries were hard and dry. Ranch dressing tasted old. The price is way too high for the experience and food quality. This is not a “high end restaurant” like advertised. Staff was great, though

Google
My husband and I ordered takeout this evening and unfortunately it was not even edible. My husband had the blood orange salad and the flavor profile was strange and off putting. I ordered the airline chicken and my cauliflower puree had an equally odd flavor and my chicken was dry. Neither of us were able to even eat our meal and after spending $60 on a salad and chicken we were extremely disappointed and left hungry as we couldn’t even eat our meals they were so bad. Highly disappointed as we have eaten here before and enjoyed other dishes.

Yelp
I ordered the French toast with crispy bacon, and everything was prepared perfectly. The service was friendly and polite. It's also a great place for drinks, featuring a fun menu inspired by card games. I will go back soon!

Yelp
Hidden gem inside a hotel located near Twelve Oaks mall. Great wine selection and handcrafted cocktails. They have rotating local meats and cheeses. The food was fresh and full of flavor. It's dark and romantic. The servers were well informed of the food ingredients, as I have some allergies. We will return!

Yelp
Yum, yum, yum!!! Beautiful restaurant, delicious food, large portions- perfect for a special occasion, large group or a quick drink at the bar. Also such a pleasant surprise that such a high quality restaurant is in a hotel - by the mall. Friendly service, very attentive and when we asked for ingredients in a cool cocktail we had - our server came back with the recipe!! How cool is that?! We'll be back for another special occasion. Sit by the fire! There's a small patio out front for outdoor seating so you really get many choices of seating to create whatever vibe you want. Don't forget to check out the lobby or the hotel - it's very modern but cozy, like you want to have a nightcap after dinner in the lobby OR have special appetizers out there and then dinner in the restaurant. Again, so many configurations where taste, service and quality is not sacrificed.

Yelp
Fantastic atmosphere and really good food. Service is terrific. Pricy however. Tomahawk pork chop and filet are delicious.

Yelp
Three words = short rib risotto. Insanely good. Loved the mini pumpkin breads they gave us for starters. Delish. My coworkers raved about the Quilt red wine.

Yelp
I stayed at the hotel attached to this establishment and the food was ok. I tried their menu during breakfast, lunch and dinner but not a single entree really stand out for me. The best thing on the menu is the dessert. The food was pricey. A burger with fries/chips during lunch time was about ~$18- $20. I'm always willing to pay up for great food, but the entrees just wasn't worth it. Service was also ok each time I came to eat here. One of them, I believe her name is Brie, was super nice and attentive. She didn't forget our additional orders and checked in on us multiple times asking if we wanted top ups on any of our drinks. That's the only reason why I'm adding an additional star to my review. As for the look of the restraunt, it is a cozy place to sit and talk. There are 4 different seating areas including outdoors.

Yelp
Went here for breakfast. Very cute and old world decor. Reminds me of an old pub or restaurant. We were seated promptly but because of their server station policy we had to sit in a corner. They have a limited menu but there seemed to be enough variety for all. We had eggs Benedict, and home fried potatoes. The potatoes were extra. Different teas were offered. All good. We asked for another plate so we could share since we didn't want to make a mess. Since I didn't see the itemized bill, the price seemed a little steep. The place was almost empty and we didn't even get hot water refills. The Benedict was ok, but the bacon was Prosciutto and over cooked - crispy. The hollandaise sauce was thick, but a little on the skimpy side. It was ok. Update - This review really reflects the whole experience. Beautiful setting but seated in a corner in an almost vacant space, seemed fully staffed but offered no hot water refills (maybe this is a thing now?), food 3.5-4. Hope this explains better. Unfortunately I can't give a 3.5 review.

Yelp
Delicious food I would suggest anyone coming in from out of town or for a lovely night out to come to the toasted oak Novi

Yelp
Came here for brunch and it was our first time here. We had reservations for noon on a Sunday and were immediately seated. I ordered a burger cooked medium with the house chips. My husband ordered the corn beef hash with two over easy eggs. The good: - my burger was perfectly cooked medium from end to the middle - brioche bun that the burger was in was incredible - coffee was rich and hot...somebody did zoom by and top it off once but nobody ever stopped by again Needs improvement: - burger came with a not-so-"special sauce". I was told it was Mayo based and had beet juice in it. It was watery and had almost no taste at all. - corned beef hash was inconsistent - some bites were pure fat and some were perfect. - the home made chips were almost devoid of any salt...very disappointing- I wouldn't admit these were home made if they were served at my house - the over easy eggs were almost completely over cooked, with one offering up a tiny bit of runny yolk - our bill came and we immediately put our credit card on it and it sat on the edge of our table for nearly 8 minutes - maybe every loud person in Novi happened to be here at the same time but it was NOISY in the restaurant. Nobody appeared to be talking loud but it was difficult to maintain a conversation at the table. No carpet or curtains to help absorb some sound. For the price we paid ($17 for burger and $18 for hash), we are leaving disappointed. I have gotten equivalent food at a fraction of the price at a coney. Highly doubt we will come back for brunch. Maybe, if it's unlikely, that we would even come back for dinner. Too many better options in the area.

Yelp
Creamy & hardy beef stroganoff - homemade tagliatelle, beef short rib, mushrooms, creamed espagnole, & creme fraishe. Delicious! Slow cooked pot roast is a marriage of tasty beef short rib, vegetables & roasted potatoes. Great place for wine lovers. You won't leave hungry!

Yelp
I came on Sunday at 11:45am and to my surprise we had no wait! This location is right outside the 12 oaks mall circle inside the the Renaissance hotel. On a first glance, this avocado toast was $15 and looks fairly basic is what I though. However when I ate it, the toast was a lovely sourdough break with ripe avocados and the most perfect goat cheese. The balance together was perfection! I would've loved more goat cheese, but it was honestly amazing. Now let's move on the the side of biscuits and gravy. It came with 1 biscuit and a pool of gravy. I tried this last because I was so mesmerized by my toast, but HOLY COW the FLAVORRRRRRR of the gravy. I am obsessed. I am planning on coming here next Sunday as we speak. Everything was immaculate!

Yelp
Came here for a team dinner. The first thing you notice when you walk through the door is the decor. Wooden walls, chalkboard menu - it feels inviting and informal. I don't remember our server's name, but he was witty and took care of all nine of us. He did an excellent job. The food didn't live up to the service. Since it is a hotel restaurant it lives up to par in that respect, but I expected more. I ordered the Oak Burger, which is fine if you're starving, but once you become somewhat satisfied you notice the imperfections in taste. My burger was cold, probably because I told them I was allergic to pickles and the plate came out with a pickle on it so they had to take it back. The burger patty was cooked to the correct temperature, but it was dry. It tasted like it had no seasoning. I liked that the bun wasn't soggy and the cheese was sharp, but it was just a burger I could've made at home. However, the fries were over salted. Saltier than Five Guys' fries. It was impossible to eat, even masked in ketchup. For dessert I had the Strawberry Shortcake Cookie Skillet. It was good and better than the burger, but again nothing special. It's a good dessert recipe that I may make at home one day. This is a good place to eat if you're not feeling particularly picky about the food, but you want great service.

Yelp
If you're looking for an intimate date night spot, this is a worth checking out! We were in the area and looking for a last-minute spot to meet up with friends and discovered Toasted Oak. The dimmed atmosphere with a fireplace gave a warm and comforting feel. They also have a market with an extensive wine selection. We started with a couple appetizers and cocktails. My drink "Stick the Dealer" was tasty and even had a little Ace card garnish- nice touch! The mussels were good sized and well flavored, and the tenderloin tip appetizer was amazing- super tender! Our server was pleasant and helpful with the menu. She even brought out pumpkin bread slices and homemade whipped butter while we waited for our meal which was DELICIOUS. We ordered the lamb chop, chicken risotto, pot roast and chicken fettuccine Alfredo. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals. The pasta is made in house which was a bonus and the pot roast was SUPER tender and was a generous size short rib, and the 14 oz tomahawk lamb chop melted in your mouth. The ice cream flight featuring the delicious Guernsey ice cream was the perfect ending. For a fine dining meal, we really enjoyed the food in the intimate setting!
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
The food was okay, the mussels were way overcooked and just not good. The shrimp on the salad seemed like it had been cooked and sitting around for a while, not even warm.

Yelp
Pretty dang good, especially for a hotel restaurant. Love this hotel! And the restaurant is one of the reasons why. The atmosphere is dark and moody. I was there alone on a work trip. They were nice enough to give me a big booth so that I could work on my computer while eating. I had the Denver steak and it was fabulous. The fries were very good also. I also had the squash soup which was delicious. Their bread was a slice of pumpkin bread. I will definitely be back next time my travels bring me to this area.

Yelp
Had an excellent time at the bar this weekend. We went for a late brunch on Saturday. It was pretty empty which was very nice. It was quiet and intimate. Our bartender was so lovely and made our stay very welcomed. I ordered a tequila sunrise which took me to the tropics, a perfect mini mental getaway from this cold winter. We ordered the mushroom and wild rice soup and it was to die for. So delicious and perfect for this weather. We also ordered the butcher board and my favorite was the mortadella. The olives were delicious as well. Overall it was the perfect late brunch for me. I highly recommend it!

Yelp
Nothing much has changed with respect to the food, although they spruced the looks up. The menu is just so random it's hard to decide what this place wants to be. You're serving pot roast and chicken and dumplings, but also peppercorn steak and black bean burgers. Nothing about the food was stand out, it was all very bland stuff. (And prepared such that the sauces were the flavor) The desserts are their own entity. They must have had 15 different options. And again, just weird things. A crème brûlée that was citrusy and salty ("margarita"), a peach cobbler, ice cream with odd names like superman, a chocolate beer cake, a bunch of random cookie skillets. Nothing was exceptional here either. And service was not helped by the Q code sending you to a page that had problems. Once you see this is an issue, print the menus out!! It's a nice place, but not worth the money.

Yelp
Great food, drinks and service. I wasn't expecting much from a hotel restaurant and they over delivered. Especially for a Monday night they were pretty full. Which shows me this place isn't a secret for the locals.

Sandy C.

Yelp
My husband and I have been to Toasted Oak three or four times in the last three years. We enjoyed the first three trips, but our last trip was not as positive. We ordered two starters, and a side of Brussels sprouts. The fish spread was oily and the presentation was strange. It was served with a flatbread and pickled carrots and onions (a plus), but also apple slices and pickled grapes. Not a match. The sprouts were delicious but overwhelmed by the bacon jam. The steak bites were tough. Our service was amazing. The most significant issue was the increase in prices. While I realize it is part of the hotel, the cost and quality did not match. Best part - the wine selection is still amazing.

Yelp
Food is limited and is expensive for the taste and portions. Ambience is great and if you are there for wine and charcuterie then it's a great place. But pricey.

Yelp
Waitress messed up both drink orders . She was very nice but not very attentive. Food overall lacked seasoning We mahi-mahi spread Chicken dumplings Steak bites! Truffle fries This is my second visit . This place has great potential but for me misses the mark.

Yelp
My husband surprised me with reservations here for my birthday dinner last night. This was our first time visiting Toasted Oak and definitely won't be our last! The vibe is cool, dark, and sexy... with fireplaces and intimate dining. Seating was comfortable and the tables are large, even just for two people. Our cocktails were unique and delicious! I highly recommend the "Sizzling Solstice," which is a delightful combination of tequila, strawberry jalapeño basil shrub, lime, and salt. I also ordered the Autumn Squash Soup to start out with and I will now try to replicate the recipe at home -- it was AMAZING! My Roasted Chicken Kale Salad was bright and fresh, although I wished there were more apples and blueberries on it. My husband ordered the Coffee Black Pepper Crusted 8oz Petite Tenderloin and cleaned the plate! The side of sweet potato succotash was also a hit; I kept stealing bites off his plate :) At a restaurant like this, you can't NOT order dessert, and they have plenty of tasty choices. My Lemon Blueberry Budino was something to write home about. Heck, I could write a book about it- the flavor profile was insane! And the Peanut Butter Banana Stout Cake is no joke! Don't skip the after-dinner sweets here!! All in all, this was a great night and a new favorite. Our hostess and waitress were both cool and friendly, and made us feel extremely comfortable and taken care of throughout the evening. If you're anywhere near Novi, Michigan, make it a point to stop in and at least have a drink!

Yelp
Just meh. Was supposed to be a "fancy meal" didn't feel fancy at all. Fireplaces were nice on the cold evening we went.
google avatar

Heather M.

Yelp
Wasn't super thrilled with my experience here, which is unfortunate. We got there only to wait 10 minutes for the hostess to come to her post- many wait staff took note of us and did nothing while we were waiting there, which was a little frustrating. The waitress who ended up waiting on us was very kind but was a little slow to get to things. The cheese board was good, the ribeye was small, rubbery, and disappointing (good fries though), and the chicken and dumplings were good- smaller portion than I expected, but still really good. Dessert offerings are great- caramel apple crème brûlée was good. Maybe the wait wouldn't have bothered me as much if I wasn't 8 months pregnant but it wasn't exactly the experience we were hoping for. Maybe we'll come back for breakfast instead!

Yelp
The only thing here consistently good was the cornbread can. The last time i was here i had a private conversation with my wife. A PRIVATE CONVERSATION, at NORMAL volume. And i had been complaining about Gary Peters. Someone there must have caught wind of it and for the first time in my life - spilled food on my clothing upon serving the food. They paid for the dry cleaning. But i had suspicions so i did what I do best, i performed a "360" on the staff running background checks and the people i interacted with. Not to my surprise, some of them were activists. I just dont want to eat at a place were people cant respect the values of other people. (Especially disguised as protecting the values of other people) I dont like activists and i refuse to do any business with them. It might be different if the food was great and their personalities were appealing.

Yelp
We had reservations for two and were seated as soon as we arrived. To access the menu, there is a QR code on the table. We ordered the cheese board, slow cooked pot roast, farmers pie, and crispy Brussels sprouts. The cheese board was very underwhelming. It had a few slices of bread, TWO thin slices of two different types of cheese, blue cheese crumbles, 4 slightly pickled grapes, a small pile of dried cranberries/ raisins, some candied walnuts, lavender honey, date preserves, and house seed crackers. For a *cheese* board, there should have been more cheese. And it was $18! The seed crackers were the best part of the board. The pot roast was super tender but it didn't taste like it had any seasoning. The root vegetables were a little undercooked. The farmers pie came with two slices of bread but the meal was too salty. I liked the presentation with the skillet and Boos board. I forgot I had ordered the Brussels sprouts before but this time it had Parmesan cheese and it was on the salty side too. I forgot to take a picture of the Brussels sprouts this time but it didn't look like it did two years ago when I last ordered it. It was more charred but I liked the fish/ lemon vinaigrette. It was a pricey meal but my friend has never tried TO, so we said why not. It might be another two years (or more) before I return.

Yelp
Overrated restaurant that is conveniently located at the Renaissance Hotel lobby. I was totally turned off when my $60 filet mignon steak was served half cold, which meant it sat in the kitchen for at least 15 minutes after it was read to be served. We were in a large group and I didn't want to delay our dinner or make a scene, so I didn't mention it to the server or the manager. It just meant I won't be returning to this place any time soon. Rather disappointed since I was planning on bringing my family for holiday dinner this year. I hope they will improve soon...

Yelp
My mom and I visited on the way to my first fitting for my wedding dress. My mom ordered a breakfast sampler type dish, and I ordered the crab cakes Benedict. We waited for my Benedict a while longer than my mom's food, but the waitress explained that the chef wasn't satisfied with what he or she amaze initially. I can respect people who want to only send out quality work. It gave me a little anxiety but the food was tasty, and we made the fitting appointment on time. All goes well that ends well

Yelp
Five stars is the absolute best food experience we could ever have. Which is why we are giving 2 stars to this restaurant. We had reservations. We had to wait for the hostess to show. Then we were oddly ignored as she sat talking to someone else. After we were seated, my husband was going to give it 3 more minutes before we left if someone didn't acknowledge us. We waited that long. Food- we ordered mussels which needed lemon and salt. Really dry. Some raw and closed. It's called lemon mussels by the way haha Beef tips - dry. It came over cooked and came to our table with the sauce literally boiling. On to the entrees ... The $40 trout - flavorless. Even the overwhelming hollandaise sauce. Would not recommend. Pot roast -rubbery , hard potatoes , flavorless sauce. Needs salt. Side of Brussels - humongous portion. No complaints. Just enough to feed 10 people. Goat cheesecake- tasted like goat cheesecake. $150 later .... Plus tip.. left unsatisfied and bored. Wish we would have went to tomato a pizza down the road.

Yelp
When a restaurant has a wine list so long that it didn't think to be user friendly (keep scrolling down friend!), you would think the wine service would be phenomenal. Nope. Instead the girls dinner night I planned from two months ago... resulted to the wine that wasn't available, spilled wine on my friends phone and a waitress who used her finger to dry up the wine spilt on the wine bottle after blaming the wine for being too watery. (She couldn't find her wine key, wrote down the wrong dressing for the salad and...you know what? it doesn't matter). Also the sangria was awful. I wondered why my friend was babysitting her glass. I tried it and YUCK It tasted like soap. My poor friend. Sangrias are not supposed to taste like that. But the bottle of cab franc? That was amazing. The food on the other hand was sensational. The salmon was moist, flaky and melted like butter. It confirmed why we were there in the first place. Dinner portions were a little smaller for what I had expected but man, everything was packed with flavor. Everything was so good. I usually just sit at the bar to order my food and drinks.. and I might keep that tradition going since the dining room was so cringeworthy. BUT- This is a pandemic. The server looked new, inexperienced and the floor looked understaffed on a Friday night. So let's chalk this up as a bad day, and we'll try again another time.

Yelp
Came here for, what we thought, would be an upgrade over the mostly chain restaurants nearby. How wrong we were! We waited for more than 20 minutes for our drinks and over an hour for a simple order for two - a house salad and a ribeye steak w/ fries. Now, I know staffing issues are all over the hospitality industry, and I'm sympathetic to that, but these are probably the two fastest items to make in a kitchen and 70 minutes after we sat down, the food finally came. Did I mention the restaurant was maybe one-third full? Half fried fries and I asked for the steak to be cooked medium - it came out on the cool side of rare. I sent it back - something I never do - and on the second pass, it came out basically the same. To their credit, they took the steak off the bill. Still, by this point I was starving, I took two bites of it to stall the hunger pains before I went home and ate leftovers. I remember when this place opened - it was a place of high quality and interesting food. I'm saddened to see the operations and the quality have obviously fallen so far.

Yelp
Health Hazard! This place is really dirty and it hasn't been updated since it opened over a decade ago. The table are filthy and unsanitary. There were cob webs literally hanging from the booths and the whole place smells like a dirty mop.

Yelp
Slower than snails!!! Absent and careless!!! Waited 10 min for my tea bag after getting hot water then 10 min for the waitress to tell us the menu changing my review, they apologized and made good by us!!

Yelp
Okay, so I normally try to always find the best in things, places, people etcetera, but I am just having a real hard time on this one. Now in all fairness, I have absolutely no clue how the food is, but I can attest the service was highly lacking. When we arrived, there were maybe 15-20 people in the entire place, so we thought it shouldn't take that long, let's just sit at the bar so we get going with our night. Looking at the bar, there were 3 out of maybe 8 spots taken. When we asked the hostess if we could sit there, she said no, the bartender was very stressed so we needed to sit at a table. Okay, we get it, sometimes you can't see the drink requests from tables pouring in from the 15-20 or so people in the entire restaurant; is she new, did she get slammed, no clue, but we got it, so fine, please lead the way. We were then sat at a table and watched at least 4 servers walk by us over the next 10 minutes without a simple acknowledgement of our existence. Nothing, not a hey, sorry, a little booked, I'll be over soon, etc, whatever, even a simple glass of water would have helped, but we were greeted with a big donut hole of nothingness. Sooo after an additional 10 minutes of no service we left. Not that they cared... so moral of the story is I have no clue how the food actual is, I couldn't get past their defenses.

Yelp
The food was excellent, and the staff was extremely friendly. However, service was a little slow. However, I would return it was not terribe. I especially loved the ice cream flights.

Yelp
I hate to leave this review- this used to be such a great restaurant, and I hope it will be again. However, our last visit was very disappointing, food-wise. Service was very good, aside from entrees coming out over the span of ten plus minutes. The menu was completely different than before, missing the steak frites, chicken liver pate, and other favorites were gone. Instead, was a mish mash of dishes, from a $60 filet, and several pasta dishes. We got the beef stroganoff, the Alfredo, mussels, and a burger. The mussels were sandy, and they did comp the dish. The stroganoff was served on some tough noodles, and lacked flavor and sauce. The Alfredo was also dry, and even the burger was unseasoned. I hope it was just a bad night, but there's some work to do to restore the place into its former self.

CarolAnn G.

Yelp
Came here on a Sat afternoon with friends. I ordered a flatbread and wine. No one ordered anything "over the top" but it seemed that the waitress was overwhelmed and we were the recipients. When I finally got the flatbread - it was good. We shared a bottle of wine - SURPRISE - we were charged a corkage fee because they sell it in their "market" and you are consuming it on the Restaraunt. (I have never heard of such a thing.) For dessert we shared the sour cream donut. It was eh. I wouldn't get it again - even if it was free.

Yelp
Wow. What a treat. What a find. In the hotel too boot. The soup. Oh the soup. Bright Green. Must be healthy right? That was my lunch. Soup and the charcuterie board. Blew me away. My server was excellent. Professional and the perfect amount of conversation. It would be a treat to stay there again and enjoy their vast wine offering and have dinner too. All around, an excellent experience.

Yelp
Nice, warm and cozy atmosphere but I feel the food quality, presentation and creativity has suffered after the pandemic. The charcuterie tray was my go to but I feel you get less and the quality is lacking.

Yelp
For a restaurant that has a $214 wagu tomahawk steak on the menu..this was a very underwhelming experience. Everything took forever to come out. My chartreuse platter went right back after we saw hair in one of the cheeses. They did apologize and brought out a larger one as an apology but it took another 20 minutes. My pork belly appetizer looked deceptively delicious but was very dry with almost no fat....which is the opposite of what this dish was supposed to be. We had a large party of 12 and one waitress that was forever missing. The restaurant missed out on a very big bar tab because we could never hold her attention long enough to order. It took her an hour to bring us coffee...because she had to make them one at a time using the latte machine. Well guess what, half of them were cold. If you are looking for appetizing instagram pictures this is the place but if you are looking for good food...keep looking. Maybe they just dont know how to handle a larger party.

Yelp
So I've always been a huge fan of this place. It was a staple for brunch on a Sunday. I'm not sure what changed but this past Sunday was awful. I had a reservation but waited at the hostess stand for 10 minutes before someone greeted me. The place was not very busy at all but you could tell they had limited staff. They had a buffet breakfast which had limited choices. The menu was also quite limited if you decided you didn't want the buffet (4 items I believe: bacon, eggs, pancakes, ?) I'm hoping this was just a bad weekend and that they'll come back around to being a top notch dining establishment for brunch. The service was poor. Once I was seated I waited and waited for someone to come and take my order. I ended up leaving without eating here. I hope I can come back and change this review. I know America is short staffed and I am thinking that might be what caused this debacle of a breakfast experience. I hope they get it together.

Yelp
The butchers board was certainly my favorite. Every thing on its own and paired was surperb. We ordered the Cloudfall Pinot Noir and it was not what you would expect when ordering a Pinot noir but we understood why it was so highly recommend. It's extremely light with a bit of a zip, there was no trace of wine hangover the next morning and normally after just one glass I feel a hangover from wine. The chicken and Kale dish was just a warm salad, it wasn't bad but we weren't expecting a salad. The Grilled Rutabaga had amazing flavor but I think it would be better with a bit of crunch to go with the mush.

Yelp
It was pretty dirty when I was there. Lots of flies - not very enticing when trying to eat!

Yelp
Ambiance was top notch. Food was pricey but worth every dime. Service was top notch. My wife ordered the pot roast.. tender and juicy. Gravy was perfect and the sides were awesome. We ordered the charcuterie board... the variety was so good. I ordered the cheeseburger and fries . Overall it was a great experience and we will go again.

Yelp
This restaurant is attached to the Renaissance Hotel across from Twelve Oaks Mall, off of Novi Rd & 12 mile. I've been here multiple times and every time, I try something difference since their menu changes! They take pride in their imaginative menu and sourcing ingredients from local vendors. I love supporting local businesses. Today, I went for Brunch (brunch menu on the weekend is also different from what they serve during the week). I got the fruit bruschetta to start. It was AMAZING! It comes on country bread with Zingermans fresh goat cheese, and fruit chutney (lemon & raspberry) YUM! For the main entree, I got the Hamtramck Eggs Benedict. It has grilled kielbasa, poached eggs, and hollandaise sauce on top of their sourdough bread and a side of their crispy potatoes. The sausage was okay, not my favorite. I love their potatoes and the poached egg was cooked perfectly. I love popping the yolk. The ambiance of this place is so welcoming and cozy with the dim lighting. They even have a market part of the restaurant where you can buy wine, spreads, and other deli items. One part of the dining area features a giant fireplace with cozy chairs.
