Significant Portland, Oregon, Restaurant Openings for January 2025 | Eater Portland

"A new dessert-focused spot on Alder Street from Nico’s Ice Cream owner Nico Vergara celebrates the nostalgia of s’mores—“S’mores? S’mores!”—with artisan ingredients and fun flavor combinations. The format revives a trend that had appeared at some high-end restaurants before the onset of the pandemic, updated here for a standalone shop." - Harry Cheadle

The best dessert I’ve had in a long time. The customer service was impeccable. The employees were so kind and generous with my 5 yr old. Such a cute and well thought out shop. So happy we were able to go and will be stopping in anytime we are in Oregon! I’ll be dreaming about Toasted, till the day I can come back :) we love you Toasted! Thank you for the hospitality!

Google
I don’t often write reviews but on a staycation in Portland I was wanting dessert and saw this place a while back and wanted to check it out. Went by about 9pm and it was decently busy but very quick. I love when places just keep it simple. You order one thing and it’s perfect. I ended up with 2 different things cause I couldn’t decide. It was perfect. I’ll be back.

This was our first time going since the new ownership, and the experience was everything I had wanted and more. The moment I knew we were coming into town, I couldn’t stop thinking about these s’mores. Once inside, I couldn’t decide on which flavor I wanted. I asked the person taking my order about the two I was debating between and they recommended the one that the staff were all loving (a season flavor called green thumb- with a pistachio spread). AND OH MY GOODNESS WAS IT GOOD. Totally satisfied my pregnancy craving. We tell everyone about this spot. It’s such a unique - and delicious - dessert spot. I already can’t wait until next time!

Google
Definitely worth trying at least once! Very fun concept with a shop that really stays on theme! You walk in an instantly taken back to memories of camping, setting the vibe to make you crave some smores. They have 3 classic options and then 3 that are seasonal which I like. The s’mores themselves were fine! Good chocolate and caramel but the marshmallow gets a little lost with the flavor packed cracker. Service was great - friendly and patient as the group of 4 of us settled on our choices.

My wife and I walked by and wandered in, we can’t resist the prospect of an interesting dessert, and we were well rewarded for our curiosity! They’ve done a great job capturing the feel of the outdoors inside this cute little S’mores Bar! We ordered three S’mores, and all of them lived up to our hopes! Service was great, atmosphere was great, product was great!

This was our first time going to Toasted since the new ownership and name change. (Last time we went, it was still 1927 S’mores.) We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and there was no line. We tried the s’more with pistachio cream, which seemed like their version of a Dubai chocolate s’more. It was tasty and the service was very fast. My favorite thing about the shop is the rustic National Forest decor. It feels very Pacfiic Northwest and it’s adorable. I’m glad they kept the decor theme even with the new name!

Google
First time visiting Portland and glad I came across this place! It’s a definite MUST for those who love S’mores! The inside of the store makes you feel like you should start a campfire. Friendly staff, variety of flavors, and great taste. The graham crackers were absolutely delicious, my recommendations would be the Car Camping (their Classic s’mores), Berry Patch (Marionberry jamb with dark chocolate), and Green Thumb (seasonal flavor with pistachio sauce).

This s'mores bar is such a fun and amazing idea! A great concept and experience for the whole family!! My kids loved it, and the marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers were all delicious. We'll definitely be back!"

Yelp
If you have a sweet tooth this is the perfect place for you. Their menu changes every now and then. Very sweet dessert. Loved the vibe. Staff were nice. Definitely a cute little spot and the best place to satisfy your sweet cravings. Protip: bring some water.

Yelp
Ok who doesn't want a smore just really anytime you want? The inside is so fun and decorated like a campsite. The flavors were unique and local, including GF options. We got the salted caramel one and milk. Toasted right in front of you and so ooey gooey.

Yelp
3 Stars - Cute Place, Just an Okay Experience Toasted S'mores Bar has a really nice setup--the decor and ambiance are cozy and inviting, definitely Instagram-worthy. The space itself made a great first impression. Unfortunately, the service was underwhelming. It felt a bit rushed and not very welcoming, which took away from the overall vibe. As for the s'mores, they were okay--not bad, but not something I'd go out of my way for again. Overall, I'd give the experience a 6/10. Worth checking out once for the aesthetic, but I'd love to see the service match the charm of the space.

Yelp
Such a cute shop! It feels like stepping into a cozy little campsite. I tried the Berry Patch S'more and it was absolutely delicious every flavor worked perfectly together. The service was quick and friendly. The iced tea was the perfect refreshing finish. Definitely coming back for more sweet treats!

Yelp
What a creative dessert spot! I've never seen anything like this place, but I love how special it is! Cute camping themed interior and gourmet smores that you can watch being prepared with a blowtorch. Everything tastes great, but super messy (luckily they provide wet wipes). I will say it's a bit expensive for a single s'more, but I think coming here is more about the experience

Yelp
You got to love a theme. The theme being s'more's? Yeah I'm in on that. There are some obvious flaws here, like no where to sit and no active fire pit inside this building. If you fancy a s'more then you'll clearly be happy. We got different variations of the campfire favorite. Exceptionally difficult to eat, exceptionally hard not to enjoy. You could buy all the ingredients for a regular s'more and make 15 for the price it takes to buy one of these. If It's supposed to be eaten by a fire, then I think it should be cheap. All in all, love this place. Located in a really convenient part of downtown and is an awesome little desert. (4.4 Stars)

Yelp
Really enjoyed finding out that downtown Portland still had a s'mores spot. Glad it reopened under new ownership it seems. It was a mid week day evening and while usually slow, the place was Poppin. There were about 10 to 12 people inside while I was there so it was a constant flow. There was only one employee, but he was unfazed by the attention he was getting. He was a tentative and very pleasant to all the customers and creating his concoctions of delicious s'mores. The Marion Berry one was delicious. I highly recommended spot if you're coming to Portland or if you need your camping dessert minus the camping. This is a place to go.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped by here because we saw an Instagram reel showcasing the gourmet take on the classic s'mores treat. I was surprised at how cute the spot was when we opened the door. Definitely camp/outdoorsy themed! The service was great as well. We were greeted and the man making our s'mores for us was really nice and even held up the s'mores for us to get the perfect shot of the chocolate and marshmallow coming together. What we got: - MOM'S CARAMEL: Canlea Graham, Vanilla Mallow, Sea Salt Caramel, Dark Chocolate - BERRY PATCH: Canela Graham, Vanilla Mallow, Oregon Hill Marionberry Jam, Dark Chocolate We paid $13.22 for both (including tip). The Mom's Caramel was really good, but that Berry Patch was perfection! I don't know why I've never thought of putting jam on a s'mores, but the Marionberry had the perfect amount of tartness which complimented the overall sweetness. Definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
Cute idea, but underwhelming experience. It is a $6 s'more. One and done place for me.

Yelp
Love the idea for a s'mores business! Very cool and so yummy. I had the 'nutty buddy' peanut butter, along with the seasonal that had a bourbon(?) with cherry (i believe it was the 'night cap').. so dang good and I really loved the gooeyness of it. My friend got the green thumb (with pistachio) and of course the classic. Great for a date night dessert downtown. The 'bar' is a little hole in the wall on the side, tiny area with a few seats to eat in there. It was really fun watching the 'crafters' at work toasting and making the goodness. They were nice and helpful and cool to talk to. Loved the decor of a cabin and can't wait to try their next new flavor!

Yelp
Super neat little s'more place with vegan & gluten free options! I love that you can go get a s'more made right in front of you without the hassle of a bonfire. We visited Toasted S'mores Bar on a Friday evening around 8pm - they weren't busy at all and our s'mores were done in just minutes. Street parking Friendly staff

Yelp
We were looking for a dessert after dinner and found this spot incredibly appealing. The ambiance instantly brought back memories of camping--cozy, warm, and nostalgic. The s'mores tasted just like the real deal by the campfire, and they were the perfect size at a reasonable price. I'd highly recommend this place, whether you're on a date or out with the kids. A fun and delicious treat for everyone!

Yelp
Great concept, cute setting, just needs a little refinement. The employee was charming and super friendly. First and foremost, I wish the "graham crackers" were thinner and less hard. And they needed more filling! We had way too much cracker with nothing on it. But the filling was delicious and great quality. Make the cracker softer/thinner and add more filling and this would be fantastic. Such a cute storefront!

Yelp
It's cute and trendy but the place is small. I enjoyed the smores though. I think I would enjoy the experience more if there was more of a personalized experience or even a few places to sit to enjoy the smores OR Togo boxes for them. They are served in boats with no cover. I just walked back to my hotel with them.
google avatar

Marylyn T.

Yelp
Cool concept. The staff were super friendly! I got the pistachio one. It was good but super sweet for me personally. I think it's the kind of place you check out once and that's enough, but I enjoyed the experience.

Yelp
So 1927 S'mores closed abruptly last year, and as a tourist that comes up to PDX quite often, I was pretty bummed about it because that was a place that my daughters and I enjoyed coming to whenever we were in town. During our last visit in early 2025, we found out that Toasted S'mores Bar took the same concept and reopened in the same location as 1927. Needless to say, we were excited. When we walked in, there was definitely some familiarity back when it was 1927. It has a very camp-ey vibe, which we loved back when it was 1927, so definitely happy they kept how it looked. Instead of ordering your s'mores and paying after the show they put on, you now pay first in the back of the store and then you get to watch the staff make your s'mores right in front of you. Another thing different was the menu and the price. The price is a bit cheaper than it was before, so that's a good thing. The s'mores concept might not be everybody's cup of tea, but it's a cool concept and cool to check out.

Yelp
As someone who eats gluten free, I appreciate the precautions they take before making the s'mores. They clean a separate slap and change gloves. Also, the standards for gluten alternative foods is low but I was really shocked by the graham cracker!
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
I seriously can't even describe how much I love this place. They were the absolute best s'mores I've ever eaten in my life. We loved the guys working there, it was fun to watch them torch the s'mores, the place is small but really cute, the hot chocolate was delicious. I can't remember what my partner ordered, but I had The Nightcap (canlea graham, vanilla mallow, whiskey salted caramel, luxardo cherry) ... unbelievable! Just go.
google avatar

Dorje T.

Yelp
It's incredibly cute & "campy." They make a gourmet S'more with a torch for you! It's messy. Really really messy. Your fingers will be sticky! Fortunately they have towelettes, but grab 4 or 5! The quality of the ingredients is absolutely apparent. I had the Mom version - dark chocolate with sea salt caramel and it was on point. The sleeper though is their hot cocoa!! Don't forget this one! At 10:00p on a Sunday night, there was a queue - and 1 teenage boy behind the counter. He was VERY methodical but not exactly efficient - hence the queue. This little place is very cute, with a great product that is in an adorable place. While the food cost is low on this one, I'm anxious to see how their business model goes on this one.

Yelp
A GLUTEN FREE SMORES BAR? Say less. I was so excited to have discovered this place through a YouTube Video of Downtown Portland recommendations. I don't know why there are bad reviews, I found this place delicious and it's not very often you find a s'mores bar that caters to the Gluten Free Community. Staff were so nice and sweet and the place is camping themed. I found it adorable and delicious. Highly recommend if you are a s'more's fan! (Oh and also they have moist towels and napkins at your convenience which I thought was a great touch)

Yelp
(Almost) too embarrassed to admit that I came to Portland just for s'mores from 1927. I was already on the west coast and thought why not, but I didn't realize they closed and this was a new establishment. From what I can tell, it's mostly the same decor as 1927 and even the same menu with different named items. The service was very friendly and professional. Getting to watch the s'mores get toasted was pretty cool. I ordered Car Camping, The Forager, Mom's Caramel, and Green Thumb - my preference of flavors in that order. I think the s'mores were good, but the Green Thumb had an aftertaste I couldn't put my finger on and I would've preferred Honey Maid graham crackers to the gourmet ones that were served. They weren't terrible, but the deviation made the s'mores not taste like s'mores. Also, the chocolate was a bit thick and would've been better if it was somewhat melted. It was too hard and exhausting to bite into after a while. Overall the s'mores were OK and a great treat on a cold day, but I'm on the fence about if they were worth buying. Maybe someone with a different palate would enjoy them more.

Yelp
I had seen some social media chatter about this little hole-in-the-wall S'more studio and wanted something sweet the other night while walking around town with a friend, so we stopped in. The establishment itself is rather small with a bar to set your treat on and standing only to eat your quick bite, but the ambiance is rather cute and cozy. The menu is small and simple with 3 consistent flavors and 3 seasonal rotating. My friend and I both tried their 'Berry' S'more with Dark Chocolate and Marionberry Jam. The S'mores are made with a specialty graham cracker that's almost caramelized in taste and denser than your average honeymaid (in a good way) and the square marshmallows are torched to a nice warm brown. The service is quick and efficient and you have your S'more within a few minutes or less. The S'more was good ($6.50) but I felt like it was missing something. I understand there's only so much you can do with a little treat, but for me I think it might've been the distribution of ingredients. I feel like if there was a little more of the jam and maybe another square of chocolate underneath I might've been happier, but it was a great experience and fun try afterall.
google avatar

Candice K.

Yelp
I happened to walk by and I've never seen a S'mores bar so of course I had to stop in! They really do sell made to order s'mores! Quite a variety to pick from and it's made fresh and torched to perfection. The staff was really friendly as well! S'mores was a perfect touch to the cold and rainy weather.

Yelp
Ambiance/Environment: Campy (literally). No complaints there. More of a to go spot but very cool looking on the inside. I thought it was going to be bigger and more of a sit down place but it's more of a to go spot with some standing room. Very cool aesthetic/outdoorsy vibe. Food/Drink: I got a hot chocolate with the toasted marshmallow + one of the regular s'more options. Hot chocolate could've tasted a little stronger and less milk. I should've said something but I still enjoyed it and drank most of it. The s'more I got - no complaints there. Very good. Price: A bit pricey for a hot cocoa and s'more. Then again, maybe they're using higher quality and local ingredients. Which I could see being justified. Staff: No complaints, very nice people. Vibes: Chill, homey, and again, very campy. Would I come back? Yes! Maybe I'll try out a different s'more option when I visit again. I think I paid about $11.25 for both items. Other notes -As expected, eating s'mores can get messy so they do have little microfiber towelettes I believe they're called? And napkins as well.

Yelp
Such an amazing concept. The guy making my smores was super nice. It was truly amazing. The flavors were on point. I was bummed they didn't have the pistachio one but more of a reason to come back
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
Met the owner very friendly & welcoming. The way it's all put together the decor and vibe is amazing. My friend and I got the car camping & mom's caramel which was to die for. Definitely recommend supporting this locally owned business

Yelp
This small little gem is a must go too when you are in Portland. Luckily this was a couple of blocks away from our hotel. The store inside is set up like a camp type style. There are several options of how you can order your smores. I let the boys pick. The guy helping out was very nice and easy to work with. The boys love watching them toast the marshmallows.

Esther B.

Yelp
Love the concept of a s'mores store! Service was amazing and the worker was so nice. This was the perfect night snack.
google avatar

Elbie N.

Yelp
We got the Dubai pistachio s'more and the regular classic s'mores. The family loved it and it was the perfect sized dessert.

Karin B.

Yelp
An absolute gem in downtown PDX! Stumbling upon The Toasted S'mores Bar was the perfect way to cap off an already amazing evening. I took a friend visiting from out of town, hoping to impress her, and this place did not disappoint! The concept is incredibly unique, featuring nothing but toasted s'mores in all kinds of decadent, creative configurations--and every bite was pure heaven. We had the pleasure of chatting with the owner, who shared how he sources the finest local ingredients to craft these s'mores masterpieces. From Moonstruck chocolate to Dos Hermanos custom-crafted graham crackers, incredible homemade marshmallows, and delicious add-ins like salted caramel, every detail is thoughtfully curated for the perfect bite. We were blown away by the entire experience! I've been telling everyone about this place, and I can't wait to go back. Also--what a brilliant idea for a party or corporate event! Definitely keeping that in mind. If you're looking for a fun, nostalgic, yet totally elevated dessert experience, The Toasted S'mores Bar is an absolute must-visit!

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. Marshmallow Smores gives you a vibe of being at the camping with family. It's a small place but line moves fast. Service is great. Of course the best desert after dinner.

Camila C.

Yelp
we don't eat pork or pork products, so i called in advance to ask them what animal gelatin was used for their marshmallows, a gentleman told me they don't use pork products and its beef gelatin. i got there and ordered my s'mores, totally forgetting to order the vegan one just in case, but mid way through the cooking process i just asked again to make sure it wasn't pork gelatin (beef gelatin would've been okay since i forgot to order a vegan marshmallow), and the girl confirmed it was pork gelatin. Super disappointing. I feel like i did my due diligence to ensure i could come eat here regardless of vegan or non vegan marshmallow and they may not have been truthful. S'mores are just okay. cracker a tad stale, honestly nothing to call home about, you're better off making it at home. I could maybe see the vision if i had gone in the winter with a hot cocoa lol but it just wasn't it. Clean place and i liked that they have wet wipes available as it can be quite messy. The place is way too tiny and nowhere to sit. even in the "standing" area by the window makes you feel like you're in the way. like others have said, it's worth visiting at least once, but it's really a once and done type of place- for the sake of checking it off your list.

N Y.

Yelp
I got a forager smore and hot chocolate with the toasted marshmallows on top. I'm not a big mint person but it was good when I shared it. I loved the hot chocolate though!
google avatar

Maya-Luisa G.

Yelp
Great staff and such a cute concept. I wanted to love this place but I didn't - graham cracker was dry & kind of tasted like cardboard. Also there's no seating so it's pretty grab and go.

Carson D.

Yelp
My partner and I were craving something sweet late at night. I appreciate that this business does have late hours, which we haven't seen much of in Oregon (we are from Los Angeles). I personally really love s'mores so I was excited to try this place despite the reviews. The staff was super kind to us and helpful. They recommended some bars for us to check out in the area since we mentioned we were from out of town. We ordered 2 of the car camping s'mores. I personally liked my smore. The graham cracker is obviously homemade cause it tastes nothing like a honey made cracker. It's kinda cinnamon-y but I liked it. It was different and I just thought of it as a signature to the place. My only critique is I wish they also melted the chocolate like how they do the marshmallow. If there wasn't a line, I would've grabbed another.

Margot V.

Yelp
I was very disappointed with my s'more used to go to this place when it was a different company and was always so impressed with how scrumptious the s'mores were but sadly this new owner has worsened the product leaving your mouth so dry and your need for a sweet treat unsatisfied. The employees were so sweet but this still didn't make up for the mediocre s'more.

Marcus S.

Yelp
this place is really neat! i went here to do a review and was pleasantly surprised! great place for date nights or family outings!definitely check it out when in pdx.

Madi S.

Yelp
So so so good! My boyfriend and I visited after seeing a video of their s'mores online and it was even better than we expected! The staff members were all so friendly and we ordered the forager and the berry patch. Both were amazing but the berry patch was out of this world:) loved the graham cracker too was a great bite

James N.

Yelp
Great place if you're looking for a quick sweet treat in Downtown Portland! The service was great and there are different flavor options! Would love to come back!

Lilianna H.

Yelp
Horrible place spent $17 for chocolate not even to be melted weird cinnamon flavor when I got an original do not recommend

Hayden

Yelp
This is a new, must go to spot in Portland. As soon as you walk in it feels like you are camping. The service is amazing, with a fun open flame experience and a cozy atmosphere. Be prepared for a gourmet s'more that is made with local, high quality ingredients. Good prices and even better people!

Angelina M.

Yelp
Use to be a good place but not anymore, i paid $17 for 3 marshmallows but the chocolate was not melted :(. i hope the old owners can come back. Maybe it was the sever but you can try it yourself
