This is my second or third time coming to Toastique at The Wharf DC location. The food there is really good, and although the gourmet toasts/drinks are pretty pricey, you will leave FULL.
The Food & Drink:
- I ordered the Smoked Salmon (Lox) Toast but swiped out the cream cheese spread with an avocado spread. I added a poached egg on top. It was quite delicious, and no crumbs were left behind.
The bread edges were a bit hard to cut (I highly suggest Toastique utilizing silverware knives instead of plastic ones). Besides that, the toast was very good and filling. Just a warning, the toasts comes VERY LOADED, so you will get your money's worth. Ideally, come in when you're hungry. They serve the toast on what appears to be wooden cutting boards as trays. It's a nice touch, I must say.
- I also ordered the Gingerberry Smoothie. It is quite delightful & delicious. Honestly, I ordered it because of its bright fusia color.
Toastique also offers cold pressed drinks, tea, and a decent variety of acai bowls.
I do recommend this place and look forward to exploring the menu some more. The staff seem friendly and accommodating too.
As many may know, The Wharf DC parking can be irritating, so ideally, come to Toastique for breakfast (after rush hour) or lunch during the weekdays. Parking becomes ample around that time. You can also metro to the location, but the walk may be about 10 to 15 minutes from Waterfront Metro. I think it's close to L'Efant Metro station too.
