What a great experience. I had this place saved and had been waiting to go try it out. We stopped in and we're the only ones in but were welcomed in and had great customer service until we left. We did the tasting which is $15 per person but you definitely get your money's worth. We left there with three of the bottles we tasted and plan on going back time and time again while we are in Maryland. Enjoy!

I'm giving this 4 stars strictly on the quality of their Bourbon and Rye liquors. These are both outstanding and I'm not even a fan of bourbon. If you're going there thinking you can get food or cocktails then don't bother. Also highly recommend reserving a spot for tastings as they have only space for 8 people at a time (and that's all they do). This is a pretty small Distillery and they have a total of 5 liquors, bourbon, rye, rum, cinnamon whiskey (Mol Dyer), and a honey rum (Dancing Bee). The cinnamon whiskey and honey rum are 66 proof and the rest are approximately 80 - 92 proof. Their rum is interesting as its aged in a used whiskey cast for at least a year onboard the USS Constellation.

We spent a delightful afternoon enjoying these quality spirits with Sean as our guide. The distillery’s story, environmental conscience, and philanthropy are a wonderful accompaniment to some darn good booze. The introductory tasting is well worth the cost and is conducted in an idyllic farm setting.

Haven't been to the distillery yet but fortunate to catch them at the La Plata farmers market a couple times. They do not have a booth at the market every week. My husband loved the straight bourbon, the cream was very good too. Super happy to be getting great bourbon and supporting a local SoMD business.

We really enjoyed a relaxed and informative tasting session today. A fantastic setting. And yes, the drinks distilled here were all just fabulous. Our trio of rum, whiskey and rye whiskey giftpack made it back safely to the UK. Recommended.

Stopped in this past Sunday and picked up a bottle from the latest batch from the 53 gallon barrel format and I can say the flavor profile on this run is excellent,it finishes out so smooth.

I was lucky to be introduced to the Tobacco Barn Distillery through my dear friend Mike Dickson in Fort Collins, CO. Turns out Mike went to school with Scott Sanders. Have to say, my husband and I are bourbon/whiskey lovers so we were pleased to sip the Bourbon Whiskey and the Bourbon Cream. They are both smooth, rich, delicious. Highly recommend. Plus the proceeds benefit veterans!

Absolutely love this place. Went here twice now and their tasting is a great starting point. Try their honey rum, it's a great option for when you're under the weather. Their bourbon is top notch and can easily compete with your favorite from Kentucky. Drinking local is so easy when you have this quality around.

Great bourbon, great people. What more do you want? This place is a gem! I wish they could ship to Virginia.

Toured the compound and to say the least, you get a sense of the efforts to honor the centuries old traditions producing their fine product. From growing their own crops and then through the process, the end result is nothing short of yankee ingenuity and results at their finest. A generational farm, they were recently voted America's #1 Farm Distillery...and this is not by accident. Attention to detail abounds in every itineration of their craft. I toured along with several family and friends and if you do the same (even going solo), you will not be disappointed.

Loved this place. We did a tasting there in 2023 and enjoyed it immensely, bought a few bottles of the bourbon and bourbon cream. Local rye and corn, high-quality bourbon. I've bought a few more from other local businesses that have their products, and have given it as gifts to friends who don't live near. Everyone has positive feedback.

Good place. Came upon it while in the area. It sits on a very nice property. Some parking available near the garages/barns right after you turn in. You walk to the tasting room. We were on a Sunday afternoon and arrived in the middle of a tasting. We joined the tasting in progress - which is nice service. You can sit at the tasting bar, or there are some nice leather like chairs around the room. I think we paid $15/person for a taste of around 6 different distillations. You keep your tasting glass. The products are good, and the taster gave a nice presentation throughout. You can buy merchandise and of course the spirits. It is small batch, so expect small batch prices. Nice place in Southern Maryland - recommended for a stop in / buy.

Great product and service. Sean was awesome and educated us on the entire process. The bourbon crème is a winner and makes for a great gift.

I bought the bourbon cream and it was unbelievably delicious! I will have to visit the distillery in southern Maryland. Gotta love a small business that is all about quality.

Such a great time! I once tasted their products at a festival but I was already most of the way through and didnt quite remember so when I was in southern MD for the weekend I knew I wanted a do over. I am glad i did! I stopped in for a tasting with one of the owners who you can tell was clearly passionate about their product and gave me great detail about everything I tasted and sufficient reason to purchase a bottle of whiskey before I left. We also had a nice chat about our birthdays (we shared the same one) as well as the difference between Whiskey, Bourbon and Scotch. So glad i stopped by and cant wait to crack open my new bottle.

Was first to arrive, wasn't sure what to expect, seemed off to me that St Mary's County had a Distillery ...none the mess, locals raved of it, so opted to go for the tasting. Had a blast, one of the owners was out host, while other owners did some work in the distillery. Tasting was an awesome experience, learned more of history and great Bourbons started in MD well before they moved to VA and onward to KY. Maryland should be proud of this small farm award winning Distillery!

We had such a wonderful experience yesterday here! Sean, confounder and server was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Tasting room is perfect, not overdone or commercial. You truly get a taste of the local life out here. Highly recommend!

Did a tasting here. It was enjoyable and informative. I felt welcomed and the service was wonderful. The experience takes place in their tasting room, which is comfortable, clean and temperature controlled. My husband and I went together and we got plenty of ice water the entire time, which was much appreciated because it was over 90° outside. I had tasted their whiskey sample at a festival a few months back and it led me to deciding to do a tasting. The tasting experience taught us a lot to help us be more informed whiskey connoisseurs. I'd recommend it to a couple, individual or even small group of people. P.S. We did make a reservation and I highly recommend it, because it helps them be prepared to accommodate your arrival.

Great little business to check out! They have a beautiful small building for bourbon, whiskey, and rum tastings. (At a small cost) I took a guided tour (for a larger cost) and loved hearing about how they make their spirits and the history of the farm. Did you know Basil Hayden first made bourbon in St Mary's County?!? The three owners were there when we visited and they were so welcoming. I loved hearing their stories! Seeing how bourbon is made and tasting the different stages of production really makes you appreciate the drink. They sell their drinks in the tasting room along with other neat merchandise. I had a fun afternoon with friends and family there.

Went for a tasting with a large family group and they were very accommodating. The couple not a part of the group said they were our cousins too by the end of the tasting lol. Super friendly. They taught us about the regulations for certain spirits and how they were made. Ingredients used and length of time to make. Super fun afternoon. The lemonade was fantastic.

Had a great time with my husband, and two good friends at this establishment. My husband and I also had our 3.5 month old with us. I did check with Scott (who is 1/3 part owner) before bringing her along and they said it was perfectly fine! I sent a message by email and he responded very quickly. We thoroughly enjoyed our introductory tasting (hosted by Sean, who is also 1/3 part owner). He shared some great history on the process of making bourbon, whisky, and rum. He had a great personality and was very knowledgeable. The tasting was very very good! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The tasting room is very cozy (kind of reminded me of being in a cabin), and the view from the front porch was beautiful (gently rolling hills of farmland). For those that are not fans of trying liquor straight, they do have a whisky lemonade. For those that do like whisky-the bourbon and the rye whisky have a very good flavor. We purchased the rye whisky for us an a friend! We all plan on coming back to sit on the front porch and drink a little whisky lemonade in the future! Thanks to Sean for being such a great host and to Scott for being responsive over email so we could plan our day!

Two years ago, I learned of a local distillery in Hollywood Maryland that was planning to send its Bourbon on a 700-mph flight in a Harrier jet. Being a pilot and aviation enthusiast, my interest peaked and I quickly visited the website of the Tobacco Barn Distillery to read of this unique event. It did not take long for me to decide to become a participant in this event by reserving a bottle what would be a most uniquely crafted Bourbon. The flight occurred in August 2021 https://youtu.be/wHQ1fto-vjM and after dealing with COVID related supply chain issues, my bottle was ready Memorial Day weekend. After coordinating with Scott, one of the owners who is also a pilot and who was so accommodating to meet my scheduling needs, my brother-in-law and I decided on a road trip to the distillery yesterday, a day which the distillery reserves for appointments only. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Dan, also an owner. Dan was not interested in simply handing me the reserved bottle and sending us on our way; rather he was more interested in opening the distillery for a private sit down with us. Dan talked about the history of the distillery, the 700-mph event, the history of St Mary's County MD and its historic role in the production of spirits in our country. Dan made us feel the kind of welcome that old friends would be accustomed to. And while we were not able to attend the 700-mph event, Dan detailed how the barrels were affixed to the undercarriage of the Harrier jet and when flown, the bourbon experienced dynamic forces that had altering effects. These effects included color changes and changes in taste resulting from sound pressures, g-forces and the related interaction of the spirits within the barrels. Unfortunately, our need to return home forced our time to relax in this amazing place had to come to an end. But we did not leave not before adding two additional bottles of the 700-mph Bourbon to our cache'. Upon arriving home, the first order of business was to break the seal and ready ourselves for the tasting experience. A nickname for bourbon is "spirits" which some say is a heavenly reference. Having now had my tasting experience, I agree. This handcrafted Bourbon is more than I had hoped for. In fact, I would go as far as saying that angels have shared their spirit in the making of creation of this fine Bourbon. What an amazing experience. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Scott and Dan for adding Tobacco Barn Distillery to places along my journey that will never be forgotten.

Really cool little place. I just did the "Bourbon Maturation" Tour & Tasting. You get to see behind the scenes as well as do the tasting and you get a Glencairn whisky glass with their logo on it. Would recommend, very friendly staff and good Bourbon to taste at the end. I bought 2 bottles, the Bourbon and the Rye!

Great tasting experience with a history lesson and distillation process explanation! Very nice atmosphere and a great group of people running it.

This is the most serene place to enjoy good whiskey. If you like whiskey, you need to try this place. As someone who isn't a huge whiskey fan, even I found something that I can appreciate. Their story, their flavors, their journeys to where they are now... and just good company with any of their owners. We came here after visiting a somewhat local winery. We sat for the 45-minute tasting and got a history lesson of the place and what they do and make. It did not disappoint. Well, the only disappointing thing is the legal issue they faced with Baltimore... but you can go and learn more about that on your own. The cinnamon spiced whiskey is better than any cheap Fireball whiskey you may have had, and that's saying a lot because I detest Fireball. My husband was a huge fan of their bourbon but thoroughly enjoyed the flavors of the rye. I liked their mango drink they make in-house and I would get that 100 times again. It was a great experience and the whole vibe there is so chill. You really forget that you're in Maryland.

We stopped by to take a look around and buy some products knowing that to tour and sample, you needed to prebook. Upon entering they had a tasting session in progress and at the door we were made to feel completely unwelcome and asked "what do you want", not even a hello was offered. I am not going into the conversation we had but we hastily purchased a few bottles and left. If you want everyone to prebook for a visit you need to make it clear on your website.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon and let me just say the tasting did not disappoint. We enjoyed everything from the greeting to the presentation. The cream & old fashion mix changed my life Lol!!

Easy to get to, picturesque setting, welcoming and informative owners/operators, and very nice products.

Had an amazing time here as we were a small group of 4 on a Sunday and had all the time to get to know the history behind this place as well as the production process. They're very polite and they make it very fun and involving.

Did a tasting at the Tobacco Barn Distillery and it was fantastic. Scheduled for 45 minutes, ours went over an hour and learned a lot about their approach to creating their bourbon. We recently went on 4 different tastings (as well as 2 tours) on the Kentucky Bourbon trail and this tasting experience was better than any of the Kentucky ones. Their small group and personal approach is a fantastic way to learn. They are not sourcing their bourbon from outside sources and slapping their label on it like many new distillers waiting for their product to age so what you are drinking is actually made there (which can't be said for many of the small distilleries. I highly recommend this place. Taste is subjective so I can't guarantee you will like all of their products but the tasting experience is well worth it (especially since they are few and far between in the area as this isn't exactly Bardstown, KY). They have a beautiful new building that's easy to get to but not well marked on the roads but the standard google/apple maps gets you right there so it wasn't a problem finding it.
