Google
Ice cream is not bad, thicker and a little creamier than most places which is why I give it a five star rating. I also like that it is located in a plaza so parking and getting there is easy. Will probably come back some day after I grab a nice meal at a restaurant in the same plaza

The customer service is horrible. The people who are serving the ice cream acted like I was bothering them. I was hoping the ice cream would make up for the terrible customer service but it did not. Very limited options and tasted like it was sitting in the freezer for a long time and the waffle cone was stale 🤢.

I don't know who Toby is, but he deserves a slap (one of the nice, hearty kind) on the back for his handmade ice cream. My family and I stopped by here one evening looking for a sweet treat to close out the week. We're pretty used to ice cream shops like Coldstone, so I had already taken out a second mortgage on my home just to make sure I had enough cash on hand to pay for ice cream I could have bought at the grocery store. Toby's is the exception to the rule. The shop is pretty small and unassuming. It's tucked into a pretty small space at the end of the shopping center and has probably 5-6 tables inside and a bench outside. The tables inside sit 4 max, and then there are a few tables that seat 2 and a bar looking out the window. When we went, that ended up being fine, but it's something to consider if you're planning on going with a large group. It would, however, be a great place for a date. Unrelatedly, but perhaps not, I took the cutest photo of my daughter on the bench outside. Perhaps it was just a lucky shot, perhaps it was the ice cream inspiring my photographic eye. Either way, I tip my hat to Toby for making that happen. The flavor selection was really interesting, they have all your basics (except for cake batter, which is a favorite of mine) and a few interesting options including pistachio and ube. They do have peppermint ice cream, not mint ice cream, peppermint, with actual chunks of peppermint in it – that alone should earn this place a 5 star review as that flavor is tough to find. Toppings were pretty basic and all extra, so we didn't get any. The prices were also really reasonable. I believe it was around $7 for a milkshake and probably similar for the cone my wife got. Compared to the ridiculous prices you pay at other ice cream shops, that was a really pleasant surprise. The staff was helpful, kind and kept the line moving pretty well. Parking is easy and plentiful. Long story short: Toby's is a great, local ice cream spot. It's easily accessible, there are plenty of flavors for everyone and you won't break the bank getting to enjoy delicious ice cream. Well done, Toby. Well done.

Google
I love this mom and pop ice cream shop that is one of three locations in northern Virginia. The ice cream is amazing and there are pieces of fruit in the peach ice cream which is now a new favorite of mine. Ube, cinnamon, cafe au lait, expression chip, macapuno and green tea are the usual flavors I go for. Hand packed pints and waffle bowls are my usual purchases as well as their comfy T shirts. Support small business and enjoy the best ice cream northern Virginia has to offer.

Google
My fiance and I loved the place. Excellent selection of flavors. Plenty of delicious sorbet options for those who have issues with dairy. Very generous with their scoops.

Google
Popped in here with my daughters after having lunch next door at Red Bird. Loved the ice cream. It's definitely creamier and thicker than you'll find at most places. Which I like a lot. Good variety of flavors and options like milkshakes, sundaes, etc. The staff is friendly and quick to offer a sample. My girls LOVED trying different flavors.

Google
Delicious strawberry ice cream with fresh waffle cone!Clean place and friendly staff!

Google
Fun little ice cream shop serving fresh handmade ice cream with a smile! Can't wait to return to try the other flavors. They have malts, shakes, sundaes, cake and freshly made waffle cones along with hard packs of all the flavors in season.

Yelp
Great local business serving up some really great ice cream. Luckily it was a hot summer day when I went and I was able to try out some delicious flavors. Everything is made in house and you have unique flavors like Ube, Calamansi, Pandan, ect.. I just went for the Ube/Pandan Ice Cream in a Waffle Cone with sprinkles. It was perfect and it made the outside heat more tolerable. I was not in here for too long but I'd definitely check this place out again!

Yelp
FOOD We sampled their ube, coffee, and green tea flavors and immediately were drawn to the ube. There was so much depth to the flavor and the nutty and vanilla notes of it packed a punch. We had their double scoop of the uber flavor, when if coming back, I would definitely purchase it by the pint as it was most worth it (in terms of flavor, amount, and cost). DRINKS Milkshakes are available for purchase, though we didn't try any this time around. SERVICE The staff are kind and friendly. AMBIANCE Several tables in and outside are available to enjoy your sweet treat! PARKING Ample parking is available in the lot before the store and shared with neighboring vendors.

Yelp
A great local business! All in-house made ice cream with unique flavors, including filipino flavors! I had the calamansi and mango sorbet with waffle chips. Omgosh, it's a truly nostalgic moment for me. The vienna location is located in a semi busy shopping center. Plenty of parking. The establishment is clean and welcoming and has limited seats inside and four outdoor chairs. We opted to sit outdoors and enjoyed the warm weather. The pricing is reasonable for homemade. It is much more affordable than chain ice cream shops. They do allow 2 tasting samples only. Wish it could be more since I'm such an ice cream fanatic. However, two is UNDERSTANDABLE as there are vultures who do not respect small businesses. Overall, they have won me over and will be seeing me again because I really do enjoy the sorbets, and the salted caramel really taste like legit caramel.

Yelp
My first interaction with Toby's was when dropped their cicada sundae during the big infestation of 2021. I stayed in line, masked, six feet apart from other customers, just to get a taste of some ice cream decorated to look like a scary bug. Those were wild times man. The hype was real, and Toby's has since expanded to a second location in Vienna. I had heard that they were releasing a special menu just for AAPI month (this store is proudly Filipino owned) and I didn't want to miss out. On the menu were items like ube, pandan, macapuno, mango, and calamansi. We got a scoop of pandan and ube to share and were impressed with how thick, creamy, and infused the flavors were -- this was the real deal! Toby's truly has ruined Magnolia ice cream for me forever. While we were enjoying our scoops, we noticed tons of groups of friends and families stopping by to grab a cone or two. Everyone had big smiles on their faces and I could truly feel the sense of community around us. Can't wait to see what new flavors they release next month!

Yelp
Having read about the cicada ice cream, I'm sad to have missed out on that. Interesting buzz pardon the pun, but cicadas are nutritious. I must say I like this place. Located in Cedar Park Mall on that street and Park, this is a nice family place. Their ice cream is delicious. Lots of flavors, some traditional, while others are out there. Being creative I applaud their being bold! All of the ice creams I've had here are quite good. They do milkshakes too. It's a clean shop and quite comfortable. You'll find the employees friendly and helpful. A laid back spot good especially in the summer. By all means give them an opportunity.

Yelp
Toby's ice cream was smooth and tasty.  We tried both a milkshake and a waffle cone on a recent visit.  There is not much better than the smell of freshly baked waffle cone - mmmmm.  And that is the first thing you notice upon entering.  The line follows along the counter where there are really helpful visual aids detailing all the available toppings and showing the sizes of the cups and cones.  This should speed up the decision making process but, despite the flavors being listed clearly on the board, one can't help but pause and look and contemplate as you pass by the freezer sections showing  your numerous options.  It was definitely hard to choose! We opted for an expresso chocolate chip for the sundae (tasty, but, note to self - chocolate bits and straw - not a well thought out plan.  The sundae had salted caramel and coconut chocolate crunch.  The coconut flavor was really strong and our favorite.  Though the seating inside is a little limited, there are a couple of Adirondack chairs out front as well.  The ice cream servers are friendly and patient.  The lots is really big and parking is absolutely no problem.

Yelp
With over 20+ flavors, I'm glad I got the Cinnamon flavor - it's bursting with flavor in every bite! The housemade crunchy waffle cone pairs well with the ice cream and doesn't leak! Service was just as sweet as the ice cream, and very patiently let me relish a galore of samples. While I enjoyed sampling a bunch of flavors, the Cinnamon flavor really stood out and the Green Tea (will have to get it next time!). So glad Toby's opened up the Vienna location near me (Arlington is the original location) and there's a new 3rd location in National Landing near Amazon. Excited to come back for the Green Tea and to try other flavors.

Yelp
I had a medium cup (2 scoops) which was a reasonable $6. The espresso chip was full of coffee flavor and the chips chocolatey. The real prize was the s'mores. Usually i find this flavor to be cloyingly marshmallow-y. But this was a perfect balance of flavors and not too sweet - and excellent counter-balance to the espresso. Both flavors were creamy and delicious. I will return!

Yelp
I have had Toby's in Arlington before and enjoyed their unique flavors, so I figured Toby's in Vienna wouldn't be any different. A plus is that they open until 10 PM, which is late for suburbs standards. My friends and I stopped by after dinner yesterday and enjoyed our ice creams. SMALL (CUP) - 4.75 They say small, but it's two scoops of ice cream. In today's economy, that's a good deal for ice cream out since I am used to seeing the $6-7 price range for around the same amount of ice cream. They had the pandan flavor today and I was really excited to get it because I love pandan based desserts. I don't see this ice cream flavor ever! If you look past the alien green food-coloring (which dyed my entire tongue, lol) and focus on the flavors, it's there. The flavor reminded me of aloe with some earthiness mixed with a hint of coconut. I liked it a lot and would recommend giving pandan a try. Good ice cream! I would recommend!

Yelp
Forgot to take before pic! But super delicious Ice-cream! Buko pandan flavor was super good! Absolutely demolished this cups!

Yelp
I've been wanting to come here forever now and I'm so glad I finally was able to make it. Love the vibe of this ice cream shop. It's small, but so cute! The service is also on point. It was our first time there, so it took us a while to decide what to get. The guys behind the counter never rushed us and and waited very patiently as we tried to decide which flavors to get. I recommend the ube ice cream! So delicious and def tastes very Ube forward which I appreciate. The banana is also very good! Taste like real bananas and not like the artificial flavoring type of bananas. The espresso ice cream is also yum! Seriously, all our ice creams were a hit! I would definitely come here again! So give them a try and let me know what you think!

Yelp
Came here to try the filipino flavors and was not disappointed! Two scoops for $6 is a great deal so had to try the ube and calamansi sorbet. Both were the perfect flavor and tasted authentic. The ube was thick and creamy! Calamansi was sweet, tart, and refreshing.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place at the Filipino festival. I got the Ube ice cream. Silky smooth with that attractive Filipino yam flavor really shining through. Not only that, the service was so humble and welcoming; Toby himself served us and makes us want to come back. Great Ube and even greater people behind the Ube ice cream.

Yelp
Had to update my review because I just love this place so much! We go all the time when we crave a sweet treat. Definitively be courageous & try their more "exotic" flavors because they are truly the best. My favorites are ube, pandan, banana, & green tea. Flavors are GREAT & the icecream itself is so creamy! Just perfection. Love to go in & grab a pint to go to share with the whole family.

Yelp
Happy National Ice Cream Day! We didn't know Toby's Ice Cream in Vienna was offering free scoops until we got here. (They were also celebrating their 16th anniversary.) The wait was long but worth it. Ube scoops for me and my son. We love their Asian flavors!

Yelp
Happened just now!!! My friend&I always come here and we loved ice cream here. Today, i wanted to try another flavors so I got 2 scoops (pandan and Rasberry sorbet) but the rasberry sorbet texture is way too sticky so i kindly asked him (his name is Logan) he responsed me very rude that sorbet's texture supposed to be like this, if you dont like it just throw away but you gotta pay for it. I was like ok fine i can pay whatever, since im a regular customers here but the way you talk or react to customers shouldnt be like this then his gesture very rude and said back to me "ok what flavor you want" i was like I didnt want any substitute or anything but you should treat customer better. He seemed doesnt care and turn away from me so i had to ask for manager, he answered "not here".....Well! I didnt want to do this but there's no way I can complain. 1.The store needs much more professional workers 2.Should have person in charge in store everyday, isnt that most restaurant places do? I suggested the owner or manager to check CCTV and see how your workers act like...

Yelp
Ice cream was amazing. Only downfall is they did not have vanilla when we visited. That is all my husband eats. Mint Cookies N Cream was delicious.
google avatar

Joann M.

Yelp
If I could it would be zero! they are out of vanilla! Seriously... ohhhh just try a different flavor we ran out on Sunday. This also occurred a week ago ... sorry we want vanilla as obviously others do as well! Their ice cream is good! But if you can't stock a basic your useless to me!
google avatar

Yelp
I want to start with seeing the amazing sign out from promoting their neighbors, this instantly set the tone for me and it gave me all the positive vibes as I walked in. They were kind to my little boy and were patient as he gathered the words to order. Their ice cream was creamy and well balanced. My son devoured his cone quicker than I've ever seen him eat ice cream before. I also noticed the poster for the pupsicles in the front, which makes me very excited about returning with my fur baby. A wonderful spot and would highly recommend to anyone with kiddos or if you're looking to take your doggy for a sweet treat

Yelp
We decided to check out Toby's on a Sunday afternoon. When we entered the store, we were the only customers; however, that wasn't the case when we left the store as it was bustling with people! I've been to almost all of the ice cream parlors/shops in the area, and I would say that I'd definitely come back to Toby's! I only wished we lived closer so that I can take advantage of having some delicious ice creams all the time. There are ton of flavors to choose from--we decided on: ube, espresso chips, chocolate, vanilla, and coconut chocolate crunch. And I would say that all of them were SO good! Each was so rich in its flavor. I've been to some places where I will not be able to taste the richness in chocolate or mint or whichever flavor we'll get; however, this wasn't the case here. And the portions were very reasonable for the price. I can't wait to make another trip to try other flavors! Side Note: 1. There are some seating inside (with tables) as well as outside (patio chair-type). 2. Plenty of parking as it's located inside a shopping center 3. Filtered water is available in case you're thirsty from all the sweetness 4. You can get a small tasting of flavors prior to making your decision, which is always very helpful! Price: $$

Yelp
Delicious handcrafted ice cream! This is a staple in the Vienna area! The service is amazing and the ambiance is cute! They have a variety of flavors and also have pup cups for your dogs!
google avatar

Yelp
Great little homemade ice cream shop! Love a good classic ice cream flavor! I will definitely come back to try some more flavors.
google avatar

Vy N.

Yelp
Heard great things, so I had to stop by! There's a variety of flavors in the cooler: the classics + intriguing ones. The person that served us was very patient and attentive even though we took a while to choose a flavor. Green tea was slightly bitter but pleasant for any matcha fans. Ube is definitely a favorite! Ube flavor tends to get lost in other sweets, but it showed up pretty well in this ice cream.
google avatar

Sheryl L.

Yelp
excellent service. Texture of ice cream not as creamy as some others we have had but it was good. 2 samples per person!

Steve R.

Yelp
This place is great. Always friendly service and delicious flavors. My boy loved, LOVED their peppermint ice cream. Everything has been good, though. Seating inside of you can take the cold, or there are benches outside. Never seen a dog in there, but they advertise as pup-friendly.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Fantastic ice cream, had cones and took home a pint. The espresso flavor was excellent, and had some real coffee flavor to it. It's a bit pricey, but you get what you paid for!
google avatar

Jordan U.

Yelp
11/10 best ice cream in Fairfax!!! Creamy, fresh and delicious! Wide variety of flavors, you can't go wrong!
google avatar

April C.

Yelp
Service was good and the servers were very helpful. The ice cream was ok but not the quality I would expect from handmade ice cream. It was really lacking in creaminess.

Paula R.

Yelp
I enjoyed the ice cream. HOWEVER, I like my choice of ice cream in a good, crispy "sugar" cone, like what is served at other ice cream venues. That's not what they serve at Toby's. They use the cheap-y "cake" cones, which is disappointing. The young staff just stared at me, like deer in the headlights, when l came in when newly opened, and asked for a sugar cone . Will not go back.
google avatar

Joanne A.

Yelp
Love everything about this place!!!! My fave flavors are ube, bittersweet chocolate, butter pecan, peanut butter chocolate and more!
google avatar

Becky T.

Yelp
The coconut chocolate crunch they have here has been one of my favorite ice creams since I was a kid. Really great homemade stuff, nothing fancy.
google avatar

Meredith M.

Yelp
I was really craving a milkshake, so I went to check out Toby's- it hit the spot. They have a lot of different flavors soft serve that you can get in cones or shakes. I had the ube shake and it was really good. I really love that they have pupsicles- my pup loved it. They have ample parking since it's in a strip mall & a small seating area inside.

Tatiana L.

Yelp
Been there a few times now in the last month and the ice cream texture and flavor is great. One of my favorite places to go in NOVA.

Kristine B.

Yelp
Good ice cream my favorite is the Buko pandan. Tried the Ube and coconut chocolate crunch too delish!

Leah C.

Yelp
Mango sorbet and Buko Pandan was so good. Perfect for hot days- take a break and cool off. I also bought calamansi sorbet. I wish we have this closer to my home. It's a great place to go after dinner.
google avatar

Julie J.

Yelp
The ube ice cream reminds me of taro milk tea I get from boba places, it is so good! I came here twice almost around closing, and once they had one scoop left and another time they had plenty...!

Babiana B.

Yelp
Great variety and the ice cream is rich and creamy. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed our visit very much.
google avatar

Joyce P.

Yelp
I've heard great things about this ice cream shop. I was really looking forward to try them at the Fil-Am Spring Fest last April but they were sold out so quickly plus the line was too long and people stayed to try their varieties. Me and my friends went to their Vienna branch to try it out, I ordered the Ube and Vanilla flavor and it was very good. Not too sweet and just perfect! Ambience was as cool as their ice cream Let's support local!
google avatar

Ryan Z.

Yelp
Ice cream is my guilty pleasure so I get no pleasure not loving an ice cream joint, but my issue with Toby's was that the flavors were so subtle they were almost hard to discern. Peach ice cream in the summertime is my ultimate favorite, but I struggled to taste the peach. Same issue with the s'mores. I needed more flavor, and the buck I paid for a heath bar topping on the s'more yielded just a few small nuggets. However, the kids working here were super friendly and made a great impression.
google avatar

John E.

Yelp
Ice cream uses thickener to make it like paste. Lacks distinctive flavor as all just taste creamy. Meh
google avatar

Jin S.

Yelp
They were out of ube our first time here but it was in stock this time and it tastes amazing. If you've had Trader Joe's ube ice cream it tastes similar but without the chunks. Toby's flavor is stronger and texture is chewier which I liked. Pints were also available in the freezer in a variety of flavors for $7.50. Inside was clean with a couple of seating options as well.
google avatar

Bo C.

Yelp
One of my fav ice cream spots, have to say though that something changed with the pistachio which used to be my fav. It hasn't been as good for a while now. Please change it back!
google avatar

Andrea M.

Yelp
Great ice cream spot with great service. We were looking to take our toddlers out for a treat. After searching online, I came across this place. Much better than any chain ice cream place. The coconut chocolate crunch is amazing.
google avatar

Cameron W.

Yelp
The Vienna area has every chain and restaurant imaginable so it's refreshing to go to a local spot. The shop is small and clean and the ice cream is creamy and delicious. I tried the ube and s'mores, the ube was so good and the s'mores had a good amount of marshmallow. My friend had the salted caramel and the cookie dough and she was especially impressed by the salted caramel. Prices were actually pretty good for the area. Would come back when in the area!
google avatar

Liz A.

Yelp
I cannot believe I am the first to review this AMAZING neighborhood ice cream spot! Vienna has lots of dessert options, but Toby's is the spot to go for delicious ice cream with a huge variety of fun flavors. We usually get ours to go (pints are about $7.50 each), and our go to flavors are ube and cafe au lait (though we've tried quite a few). I love that it's located right next to our favorite sushi spot and a few other yummy restaurants, and walking distance from our house. Can't wait to take walks here on summer nights for post dinner scoops!

Patrick C.

Yelp
Great locally owned ice cream shop that features a wide range of flavors and includes options for dairy-free frozen desserts too. Everyone in my household is pleased by Toby's. Add to that friendly staff, many high school aged, and you have a great spot for some frozen treats. Highly recommended.

Jacquelyn M.

Yelp
First time trying and I was really excited. Went with a group and most of us ordered two scoops and I couldn't help but notice how small the scoops were. Was very disappointed in that since we spend a good amount.

Kevin J.

Yelp
The only things to complain about is having to choose which flavor to have and getting out of the parking lot. Because they actually make their own ice cream, it's understandable that some flavors may be put. However, they have so many other flavors that the disappointment doesn't last long. Hands down happily recommend this place whenever you have a craving for good ice cream. On top of everything else, the scoops are generous so be sure to tip!
