Tocaya Organica delivers a healthy, plant-based menu with fresh ingredients, but the experience left me feeling underwhelmed for the price. The atmosphere is bright and modern, and the staff are polite—service was average: not notably fast, but not slow either. We received our food in a reasonable time, and the staff checked in regularly, which was appreciated. On the menu, you’ll find bowls, tacos, salads, and grain bowls with plenty of veggies and protein options. I opted for a quinoa bowl with roasted vegetables and tofu—everything tasted fresh, but the flavors felt muted and a bit bland. Portions were decent but didn’t feel especially generous. Prices lean toward the higher side for what you get: around $15–18 for bowls that, while nutritious, didn’t offer that extra flavor punch or satisfaction. If you’re after clean, healthy food and don’t mind paying more for it, Tocaya Organica is a reliable choice. Just don’t expect bold flavors or great value. BTW: mexican cookie is not worth it.

I do not know what's going on over at this location, I have never had such a bad experience. Everything was cold and seemed like it was made hours ago even though it was not a long distance from the restaurant to my house. The delivery came pretty quickly. The tinga tacos were the only thing that was passable but the tortillas were soggy and undercooked. The churro bites were so soaked in butter and soggy that they leaked thru the container and the bag that the food came in. The Baja fish tacos were bone dry and mostly batter, the fish inside was about 1/2 an inch thick. The queso tasted kinda old and off. And then beans were cold, bone dry, and hard! Disappointing cause I've had their food before and it's never amazing but some of this was not edible.

I LOVE Tocaya! I used to go to the El Segundo location every Tuesday but sadly they closed that location. It's a bit of a drive but it's well worth it for me. This location is a bit hidden. There's a parking structure with validation. They have a nice outdoor patio as well as a lovely indoor seating area. Service is super friendly. The food is AMAZING as usual. I ordered the chips and salsa, the plantain chips with guacamole, berria tacos, tinga tacos, salmon tacos, papas y queso tacos, and Baja tacos. Everything was yummy. Will be returning every Taco Tuesday!

Google
This review is for the Millennium Drive location. We had a fantastic experience. It was quiet due to late afternoon Easter Sunday I assume. The six of us ordered, received drinks and food quickly. Everything was wonderful, both vegan and non-vegan. We enjoyed that the food was not salty, it seems like most food is over salted these days. Hector was a wonderful host and treated us really nicely. We will be back for sure!

While the food is always solid, I'm particularly grateful for the helpful staff. I went on Tuesday with my parents who had never been and they really appreciated the experience. My mom is on a low carb diet, and an employee took the time to bring over a nutrition menu and he helped her locate the information she needed. In addition, I had trouble getting the menu to show on my phone and another employee helped me figure it out. They also were kind enough to get water for my parents and came to check in on how everything was going. Excellent customer service and a great spot for Taco Tuesday!

Google
First time at this location. I usually go to the one in DTLA, this location was nice had a good inside and outside seating area, service was great and food was delicious, I had the chicken fajita burrito and a side of guacamole and planting chips. My buddy tried out the salmon salad and the taco sampler. We enjoyed all of it. The service was quick and great 👍🏿. Only downfall about this place was that parking was a bit difficult to find.

Google
Great place with amazing food - always love finding places that make vegan friendly dishes and this spot definitely has great options! A little on the expensive side, but worth the money. Fresh flavors and ingredients with a great variety of options. I usually get the bowls or tacos, so if you don’t know where to start I’d recommend those.

Google
Good place to grab a quick lunch. Plenty of gluten free options on the menu. Plantain chips are very good. Has indoor and outdoor seating. Parking available in the garage close by for $8 an hour.

Yelp
I love this restaurant. I was visiting Los Angeles/Venice Beach last year and found a restaurant by the same name near our hotel. When we came back this year, we were hoping to go there again, but sadly that location had closed down. So, I tracked down another restaurant nearby. I love that they offer gluten-free burritos, which is so uncommon. I have been gluten-free for about 27 years and have seen a lot of changes in the market over that time. Tacos are easier to find, but gluten-free burritos are rare. I'm always thrilled when I find a restaurant that offers a gluten-free option for their dishes. I got the guiltless burrito without the cheese, but with vegan cheese, and it was delicious! It was flavorful and creamy, and I appreciated the option of cauliflower rice, which I prefer over regular rice. This made the meal even more enjoyable for me. The customer service representative who rang me up was Hector, and he was very friendly, which made the experience all the more enjoyable. It felt like I knew him--he had that rare ability to make you feel welcome and at home, even if you're meeting for the first time. That's what I remember about last year as well--everyone at the counter was very friendly. Hector also informed me that they validate parking for 90 minutes, which I hadn't known. Although I parked on the street without much trouble, it's great to know that validated parking is an option for next time. I think that's something that potential customers would like to know before they go there. It wasn't immediately obvious where the restaurant was from the street, but with the help of GPS, I found it easily. Once I parked, the walking directions led me right to the door. Last year, they left a very favorable impression on me, and this year they did not disappoint. The atmosphere was clean and upbeat, the staff were welcoming, and the food was phenomenal. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! I wish they would open a location in Northern California. It would be wonderful to have such a fantastic option closer to home.

Yelp
I cannot tell you how the food or beverages are because the order I placed was canceled, sans explanation, a matter of minutes before it was scheduled to be delivered. I thought it may have been delivered and just left in front of my door, which was why I couldn't track it. Nope. It was canceled because the restaurant apparently could not fill my order of regular menu items. Bad first impression. They likely will never get an opportunity to make another impression. Truly disappointed and inconvenienced. Very unprofessional. I called to inquire as to what happened, but the restaurant does not answer phone calls. 0/5.

Yelp
Came here for the first time after my coworker brought in Tocaya chips and plantain chips. I told myself if their chips are good I bet their food is good too. I had the taco sampler with the carne asada, chicken, and fish tacos and they were so good. I'm gluten free and had no reaction to the food a day later!! I also thought the price was good too. $14ish

Yelp
This is my new favorite fast casual restaurant. Their menu has so many good options. I like the fajita burrito and the birra bowl. I haven't tried the tortas yet but they look delicious. There is plenty of space to dine in but seems like most orders are for take out. You can order online and they have a rewards program if you're a regular like me.

Vijeet C.

Yelp
Great convenient place near LMU. The place is very considerate towards people who are vegetarian or vegan. Kind service! Great food!

Agatha P.

Yelp
Love the papas y queso tacos!! My daughter loves the kid's burrito meal. She's says it's the best!! The aguas frescas and alcoholic drinks are delish!!! I love the ambiance and it's always super clean and very chill. Very surprisingly affordable. The staff is always super friendly and service is great. I also appreciate that I can earn rewards through their app and order ahead or from my table. I hate NOTHING about Tocaya!
google avatar

Sydney S.

Yelp
I wish yelp allowed us more than 85 characters because that doesn't skim the surface of what I'd say about my experience and Hector. He was so helpful and very passionate about Tocaya.
google avatar

John F.

Yelp
Hector was helpful and had great recommendations!! The bowl was exactly what I was looking for, healthy and tasty and not overpriced

Nick B.

Yelp
This is a ghost kitchen and not the restaurant. Both times I've ordered I did not realize this and both times the rice in my burrito was completely raw and the fish taco were dry and same texture as chalk. I've wasted more than enough money here now as both times I was unable to eat the food I ordered and I was very hungry and I'm not that picky but crunchy raw rice packed burritos that cost $15 cross the line

Yelp
The ambiance is so pretty outside and inside around 8pm on a Tuesday night picking up food and I feel so good being here. Wow. I've been to this restaurant 2x today. The service is great too.
google avatar

Judy S.

Yelp
Consistently solid fast casual - the salmon bowl is my go-to. There is also a nice outdoor patio and happy hour (which is mostly weak margaritas and chips + salsa/guac). Service is fast and it's never that crowded.

Yelp
I've visited this place several times, and the food is consistently good. Today, I tried Taco Tuesday, which was fantastic. The Baja taco, in particular, was amazing. I want to give a shoutout to Guillermo, who always provides top-tier service whenever I visit. He's an absolute hard worker! The seating is comfortable, and sitting outside on a nice day is absolutely beautiful.

Yelp
Great food. Fajita del ray burrito and bowl are great alongside the kids menu but shut down as of 11/25

Yelp
I came to this spots a few times. Previously I was not impressed with the food, but this time I ordered the Tocaya salad which is delicious! It has chickpeas, soy, and a bunch of other filling and healthy ingredients. Definitely enough for a hearted meal. The ambiance was great and located near a few office buildings in Playa vista, so lunchtime could be packed. Luckily we came around 12pm on a Tuesday and not too many ppl yet. After 30 mins there was a long line of checkout, so come a bit earlier and you will find plenty of seats. Oh we also used Yelp check-in and got a free serving of chips and salsa. Cannot beat that!

Yelp
By far the worst experience at a Tocaya that I've ever had. Order ahead of time so that I could try and enjoy a meal at the location. It took them 45 min to make my order and they still made it wrong. I ended up having to take it to go.
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
I've been meaning to come check out Tocaya for months now and finally got the chance to pop by and enjoy a Margarita on their patio with the doggo. Is a great hidden spot with good ambiance and a wonderful drinks! The margarita was so well priced and delicious--definitely returning!

Poojitha S.

Yelp
I was really impressed with the tons of vegan options that they were offering. I ordered their taco sampler with vegan chicken and vegan asada. Tacos were very good. Also got their street corn, which wasn't great , a little too spicy and more on the chewy side. I got a to-go but I wish that I ate there. The ambiance was amazing, spacious indoors and cozy outdoor seating. Maybe next time when I am in LA.
google avatar

Yelp
Very slow service, long wait for the order. Wouldn't recommend this place. Do not recommend

Yelp
One year after my last review, we stopped in to try some small bites during a hike around Playa Vista. This place is still great, and they have some really fun dishes. The vibe is perfect for a brunch sitting in the sun, or even a nice dinner inside their cool establishment. Everything from my first review still stands, and you should try it out!

Yelp
Went for lunch. Will try again. Have heard good things but was a little disappointed. Nothing was bad, but maybe we were there after the lunch rush and food was just a little lackluster. Still it was good decent, but the price is not cheap for not whole heartedly being satisfied. Service was great, friendly, and cheerful. The ambiance is nice for lunch. The strawberry agua Fresca was delicious. The street corn left me desiring a lot more flavor. The ceviche had hardly any avocado or mixing and I was a bit disappointed. Again, nothing was bad but it lacked flavor. The fish tacos were yummy, but we had ordered two fish and one shrimp and they sent us three fish only.

Linda N.

Yelp
Ordered on line, food arrived and was waiting for me, had tocaya salad with turkey picante, yummy, and warm. Young man took away my trash to make me more comfortable, good job, thank you!
google avatar

Trina T.

Yelp
Very happy with Tocaya. I did take out. Order was ready quickly. The restaurant is very nice and really clean. All employees were really helpful. The food was delicious. I wish this location had the gluten free churro waffle bites. My husband can only eat gluten free and was looking forward to a gluten free dessert. Definitely going back.
google avatar

Andres C.

Yelp
The service was good, as well as the location. It had plenty dining room and nice decoration. The food was not the best to be honest. The drinks were a little better than the food; my wife had created really high expectations but at least for me it was just average.
google avatar

Sophia L.

Yelp
Food and service is lacking. I came here for lunch on a Tuesday and I ordered 3 tacos, asked for no cilantro. 2 out of 3 tacos had cilantro in it and they tried to gaslight me saying there was no cilantro in it. I told them sometimes I'll throw up from having it so they took it back to make me a new order. They presented me this salmon taco with nothing in it except a piece of salmon. Depressing.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite locations to come to in LA - there is indoor seating obviously but the outdoor seating is where it's at. It is kind of hidden and has great shade and is in a really good area that is relatively quiet. I ordered the Keto Bowl with Tofu - it had a small kick but it was very delicious! We also ordered the churro waffle bites - they personally weren't my favorite but a lot of people do like it. And of course I ordered a spicy margarita because why not? Great place! I am not vegetarian but I do love all of there options - very refreshing!

Yelp
Just went there tonight at 8:30 and it was closed even though the website says this location closes at 9. Can't tell if the employees closed early on their own or the website is just out of date, but either way, it was unacceptable.

Yelp
Love coming to Tocaya especially on taco Tuesdays for the $2 deal. The food is fresh and comes quickly even when there is a long line. The experience has always been great, but I had to write a review because the last few weeks, a new staff member named Guillermo has started working and really provides the 5 star experience. He is attentive, personable and incredibly kind and is a huge asset for Tocaya. Keep up the good work and the yummy tacos!

Yelp
I was looking for a place to deliver me dinner while working in marina del rey. This place looked good, so I ordered their chips and salsa, street corn en fuego bowl with extra protein, and a blue corn tinga, which is basically a taco. When my order came, I was bummed that they didn't give me my chips and salsa. Instead, they accidentally gave me someone else's vegan bowl. Which I guess is ok, being that it's much healthier and probably more expensive. The tinga taco came with 2 very thick taco shells. It was good. Flaverful. It could've easily been on 1 taco shell. It was by far the best thing I ordered. The street corn bowl was ok. The street corn was good. The turkey and chicken were both dry. I had it with cilantro lime rice, but it was so mushy it looked like quinoa instead. There is way too much lettuce or cabbage on the bottom. It was so so. The vegan bowl that was accidentally given to me was ok. I really liked their deep-fried mushroom. Loved the batter and crisp on the outside. And it was squishy and firm in the inside. The rest of the ingredients in that bowl were forgettable. The presentation is terrible. It just looked so messy. Maybe the driver hit a whole bunch of pot holes on the way over. I don't know. But presentation can use some work. Flavors were ok. Overall, value was ok as well, thus a 3 star review.

Yelp
I love this spot however this time the experience was not as great. One of the agua fresca flavors was not available and the queso we received was quite oily/greasy.
google avatar

Lizabeth L.

Yelp
The Outside Night ambience is quite lovely. Restaurant decor is very nice. Customer service is on point. Alcoholic beverages are a bit, eh. Salmon bowl, Salmon piece way smaller than twice before
google avatar

Nicholas V.

Yelp
Food is great. Ambiance is clean. But no vibe. Service is strange. --Tons of people that don't help you. Very frustrating.
google avatar

Josh C.

Yelp
I've been to the Century City location and it was ok...this location was way below par. Burrito was cold. Everything inside felt like it had been sitting out for a while. Barely any protein. Way too much red onion! Quesadilla was also cold. My wife got a salad and it was fine.

Jared H.

Yelp
We asked about the happy hour specials and the server had no knowledge. He said "it's like the cheese dip and corn and a few dollars off." Didn't care to actually help or explain. Tacos came out and this is what was given to us. I asked him about the taco, saying it was missing ingredients and a lack of filling. He argued with me trying to convince us that this was normal. But instead of just offering to fix it he wanted to be rude and try to prove he was right. After he kept pushing he agreed it was missing ingredients. Poor service and unnecessary confrontation. From the guy.

Yelp
First timer and the food was so yummy . Literally was there first customer of the day and everyone was so nice . The space was cozy and pleasant.
google avatar

Yvette H.

Yelp
Some bowls better than others. Do NOT get the salmon bowl, this is what you get for $18 pre tip!! Burned, dry salmon and a few crummy vegetables. Gross. Ripoff.
google avatar

Serena C.

Yelp
I saw they had a spend $30 get $15 off deal on Uber Eats and was so excited to order! I've had Tocaya a few times and normally love it, but the last order of takeout that I got was disappointing. Fajita Bowl w Vegan Picadillo This bowl tasted good, but the portion size was pretty small. I'm not sure how full the bowls are meant to be, but you can see in the picture, the bowl is probably only half filled with food. I'm a huge fan of their vegan picadillo though! Chicken Tinga Fajita Burrito The burrito looked really big in the box, but there was barely any chicken in the burrito. Thought that this might compensate for the smaller sized bowl, but I ended up probably being more disappointed by the burrito. Overall this tasted ok too, but for quantity of meat and taste, I'd opt for the bowls (or tacos!) instead. Not sure if my experience was because of this particular location or because I ordered takeout around lunchtime and they were really busy, but I was left feeling like something was missing. I'll probably eventually give them another shot, but won't be rearing to revisit this location anytime soon.

A E.

Yelp
Stellar! They've really improved the quality of takeout in a short few months since I last posted. It's as good and as fresh as dine-in. Thank you!!

Yelp
We were sightseeing at Venice Beach and yelp reviews were good for Tocaya so we gave it a try. It took a min to figure out the menu which is pick your main, then meat. We enjoyed a drink while deciding on food. My partner had the passion fruit margarita which was great, and I had rose wine, dry and delicious as well. We ended up getting Baja tacos with shrimp and cali tacos with chicken tinga. Those were the chef recommended protein pairings and they were great. We also had street corn and side of guacamole and chips. Everything was fresh and delicious, albeit a little spicy if you are sensitive to that. My only criticism would be that the menu was overly complicated. Or maybe it was just that it wasn't explained clearly enough when we arrived because it's not that difficult. I recommend to just serve the chef recommended way and let people switch it up if they want. And other minor point was we were told we arrived in time for happy hour and everything was half price, but then someone else said not on Sat. which is when we were there. No matter, food and drink were great. We'd be back if we lived in the area.

Cassandra R.

Yelp
The food is delicious. Very authentic. I miss the pineapple tacos!! Oh, & This is what $0.95 gets you... I order from here often and it always seems like I get skimped on one or more of the portions. (Good thing it wasn't the street corn, this time)
google avatar

Penny L.

Yelp
I like the gluten free and plant based options at Tocaya. I've tried several of their bowls and all were pretty tasty. My usual order is the fajita del Rey. What's nice is that you can customize the bowl however you want. I usually order through their site and you can can pick from a variety of different protein options and can substitute in cauliflower rice. This place makes it easy to build a bowl that's not only yummy but healthy too!
google avatar

Craig H.

Yelp
Taco Tuesday joke Never gave us the food. Everyone behind us got food. Then after complaining brought wrong order. Taco were soup and broken. By then just shoot me DONE
google avatar

Samantha T.

Yelp
Inconsistently have the same issue with Tocaya. Tasty food, doesn't make you feel gross after. But the portions are SO SMALL for the price. If you're actually hungry i recommend the burrito because it's a little more filling and the salsa they serve with it is fantastic. If you're getting a salad or bowl, you will either leave hungry or want to eat again in like five minutes. For the price you're paying, you should either leave till or with leftovers.
google avatar

Dukalaya C.

Yelp
Service is ok, ambiance is casual. Food used to be good but they changed the rice recipe (according to one of the employees) And the rice is just uncooked. I don't like mushy rice, but a Mexican restaurant with rice you can't eat is a big disappointment. Even my kids wouldn't eat it. And the never refuse rice
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
The food is amazing as well as the kind staff, will be coming back here soon. Thank you Tocaya!

Yelp
Yum, Yum, Yum! Although this location is a little off the beaten path where most of the eateries are located in Playa Vista, the food makes up for it. I tried the Barrio Taco, Baja Taco, Tulum Taco, Chips & Salsa, Guacamole, and Black Beans. Everything came in rather small servings but I enjoyed all of it. I'm super picky about my guac and am happy to share, their version measured up! The only tables open to dining were outdoors and after asking for a heat lamp, the outdoor arrangement became quite comfortable. The only thing I found odd, is that you order your food and when it's ready, they yell out your name from the inside of the restaurant instead of bringing it to the table. I failed to hear my name and my food sat on the counter until I realized I had to retrieve it myself. Aside, from that mix up I was satisfied with everything I ate. They also have a pretty stellar selection of drinks (both alcohol and non) depending on what you're in the mood for. Big side-note: Make sure you get your ticket validated before you leave, the garage charge was $16 for an hour.

Natalie T.

Yelp
Food was delicious. -A little difficult to get to if you're unfamiliar with the area but once you find the right entrance to the parking structure you'll find the signs or at least someone to point you in the right direction. Food was quick during lunch hour!
google avatar

Makena S.

Yelp
First off, great food for a chain. Always high quality and delicious every single time I have been and I have been to several different locations. However this is a tough location. Parking is limited and there is a parking garage right next to it but you have to pay. I would recommend parking across the street on the road and then running across for dear life. Service here is super hit or miss, and the menu is slightly confusing for Taco Tuesday. Their outdoor seating is great though with heaters and comfy seats! I would recommend to not go to this location though due to its lower quality service, I have experienced better service at the other locations in LA and San Diego!

April S.

Yelp
I have been visiting this Tocaya for a year. You pay extra for the salmon tacos. The last 3 times I have ordered a salmon taco it's getting embarassingly smaller each time and this last time was so not acceptable. You pay extra for the salmon taco and this tiny piece was one bite. Shame on you Tocaya.

Yelp
Food as usual was amazing. The margarita rimmed with Tajin was very good too. I got the combo that included Asada tacos, Mexican street corn and a Margarita. Easy free street parking, great indoor/outdoor spaces and friendly staff.
