Tocayo Tacos, Cherry Street Brewpub, and Gu’s Dumplings Open at Halcyon in Alpharetta, Forsyth County, Georgia | Eater Atlanta

"Inside the food hall, I found the Tocayo stall offers five tacos—chicken, steak, al pastor, fish, and a vegetarian option—and also serves rice and beans, street corn, and plantains; desserts include dark chocolate Mexican polenta and dulce de leche, and drinks include two draft beers, two canned beers, and four sodas." - Beth McKibben

Love Tocayo! Amazing atmosphere for sitting in and extremely fast service for take out! Never have any issues with the food and the staff is nice and helpful. Lots of vegetarian options and the food is SO good. The cocktails are banger, especially the Mojitos. They also have lots of margarita options, including a frozen margarita, and also have sangria. Great for a date night and a nice spot to take out-of-town visitors to Pgh. It's always a great experience! Only downside is it can be a bit on the loud side and busy (may have to wait for a spot), but that is because it is so popular! It is worth the wait and usually not bad. The kitchen is open late (later than most other places on Walnut St), which is great for a late-night bite, and if you go at non-peak hours or late into the evening, it's a cozy and quiet experience.

Tocayo-Shadyside has excellent food. Delicious, perfectly crafted cocktails. I had the Jamaica Margarita and my Mom had a frozen Mango Marg. The guacamole is one of the best in the city. I was expected to be charged more for it, since the menu listed it's cost as "market price". But I believe it came to $14 for an appetizer portion fit for two. For my entree I tried the mix and match tacos. I had the fish taco, which was insanely good. And I tried a chicken chorizo taco, which was very good. These came with a very flavorful and nicely portioned side salad. My Mom tried the shrimp taco and she raved about how good it was. Service was nice enough. As far as atmosphere goes. Tocayo is beautifully decorated with vibrant, colorful and cheerful decor. But the overall vibe from staff and other patrons was the opposite of cheerful, warm and vibrant. It was sterile and muted. That was kind of a drag. Maybe they didn't particularly like that my eight year old son was with me? He's very well behaved and quite frankly, the life of the party anywhere we go. Maybe they could take a nod from him and loosen up and crack a smile once in awhile. I would give them another try. But if I get the feeling my kid is unwelcome again, then I'll never go here again.

My meal consisted of chips and salsa, a blood orange margarita, 2 tacos (chicken and chorizo, and steak), the white bean chili, and an espresso lava cake. Solid food all around. The green tomatillo is a must, and the white bean chili was a stand out as well. The tacos were great, the margaritas were tasty, and the dessert hit the spot. Consistently served great food here. I paid $80+ for 2 adult meals with margaritas, 1 dessert, 1 taco for a child with a horchata drink, and chips and salsa. Overall, a 4.5 out of 5.

I use to love coming to Tocayos because of the food being authentic. The Salsa for the chips was pretty disappointing thus time around. It looks like and taste like they used tomatoes from a can. The Burrito wasn’t giving in terms of “Mexican.” It tasted more like Bob took over a Mexican restaurant and is starting to slowly turn it around towards Tex Mex food. I will come back again as I’m hoping that perhaps they ran out of ingredients and had to cut corners.

Exceptional queso and tortilla chips. Mediocre enchiladas. Loved my rice, enjoyed my beans. Not very flavorful in general. Suited for a casual, chatty dinner with friends with a stronger focus on dining as a social experience than a culinary one.

Really nice mexican place with a good atmosphere. It is general moderately priced, but I'd say it's worth the taste and the quality. The horchata pitcher is the best thing you can order if you're more than 2 people, and I'd definitely recommend their enchiladas as well. The rice and the burritos are really well cooked and the staff helps you with your specific taste as well.

I almost never write reviews but this place deserves a dozen from me. We went with our hockey team last night, so we were almost 30 people and they took amazing care of us. The drinks were outstanding and the service was fast. I had the guac, shrimp and chicken tacos and a tortilla soup. Literally best tacos I’ve ever had. The shrimp ones were especially good. Just a gorgeous mix of flavors and ingredients. Not a one note taco! Staff was helpful and responded to us! Not one mistake in orders. Just outstanding. The corn hole and ladder ball outside was perfect for the boys too.
