Tocco is closing in Wicker Park after 10 years of Italian fare | Eater Chicago

"Abate plans to open a suburban replacement in April at 507 Chestnut in Winnetka that will include a market area and serve pizza al taglio; the Wicker Park location will close in coordination with Winnetka’s opening, and Abate says, 'I’m going to stay away from the city a little bit.'" - Ashok Selvam

Google
We had an excellent meal at Tocco. Service was warm and efficient, atmosphere was great and the food was excellent. We especially enjoyed the Fennel salad! Overall fantastic meal. My only complaint would be the fact they place a 3% surcharge for food costs. It is optional and can be removed on request. Personally I would rather see higher menu prices than additional fees. Small issue and won’t prevent me from coming back.

Google
First class service, food, and ambiance. Our server Jovana was very friendly and quietly professional. We loved the wine, gnocchi, burrata with tomato, and minestrone soup. Tocco is great for date night or family gatherings!

Google
Tocco is an absolute standout for Italian dining in Winnetka! We stopped in for lunch and were beyond impressed—not just by the food but by the entire experience. We ordered a pizza with sausage, and it was perfection. The crust was amazing—light, airy, and just the right amount of crispness, with high-quality sausage that added the perfect savory bite. We also tried the pasta with lemon cream sauce, which was beautifully balanced—rich and velvety yet bright and refreshing. Beyond the food, the decor is refined and elegant, creating a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere. The artwork throughout the space adds to the chic ambiance, making it a place where you want to linger and enjoy the experience. Service was excellent, with attentive staff who clearly care about the guest experience. Whether you’re looking for a casual yet elevated lunch or a special night out, Tocco delivers on all fronts.

Google
Food was good, but the management completely ruined the experience. The older gentleman working there was extremely warm and friendly toward Italian guests, but his attitude changed the moment he dealt with anyone else. We definitely did not feel welcomed or treated fairly. Good food isn’t enough to make up for poor treatment. We’re not coming back.

We arrived for a dinner with family for a special occasion. The table they sat us at was right at the door and had a cold draft, so we asked to be moved further into the restaurant. It didn't matter, the entire place was drafty, even all the way in along the back wall. I think our server let us chat too long as he showed up sporadically throughout the meal. He quickly took drink orders, brought the drinks, and then disappeared for 20 minutes. Then came back and took our orders. We all ordered soup or salad, but didn't see them for a while. Then our main courses arrived about thirty minutes after we ordered. And lo and behold, so did our soup and salads. Ummm, the table could barely hold all the plates. I ordered the gnocchi alla bolognese. It was decent, but nothing to write home about. The sauce tasted off to me. I don't think it was a bolognese, but maybe a vodka sauce with meat in it. It was weird. I wasn't the only person to order this dish and it was different for the other person, and it was odd tasting as well. It's not worth getting into the other dishes as everything was mediocre at best. There are a lot of Italian restaurants in the area, so there's no need to settle for mediocrity and bad service.

Google
Do you want real Italian cuisine that’s top-notch? Look no further than Tocco in Winnetka. This place is a must-visit, especially during summertime when you can enjoy dining alfresco. Every single dish we had was phenomenal. Yes, it’s a bit on the expensive side, but the quality is worth it. Tocco is truly a fantastic dining experience!

Google
We arrived with my wife at 7:55, so 10 minutes late. They seated us at the bar and we ended up waiting an entire hour for a table. If they had told us upfront that we’d have to wait that long despite having a reservation, I would have either gone somewhere else or ordered at the bar. In the end, after waiting for an hour, we decided to leave and not eat at this restaurant at all. My rating is 1/10 when it comes to organization. To make matters worse, they even marked on OpenTable that I didn’t show up at all — 0/10, truly shameful.

Kelly W.

Google
With all the praise this place gets I was extremely disappointed. The food was mediocre. Lamb chops were full of gristle, chicken with mushrooms and wine had no flavor, and the prices were not in line with the quality of the food. . It was so noisy I could not talk to my dinner companion the entire evening and despite a reservation that took 3 weeks to get in, we waited for 45 minutes with no place to sit down. Horrible experience!

Yelp
One of my favorite spots out here. The following is from my last visit: Smash: -pappardelle al limone (everyone's favorite) -prosciutto crudo -pappardelle alla norcina Pass: -fusilloni con salsicca -tiramisu -branzino (cooked perfectly but was missing something) -tartare di tonno

Yelp
I went to Tocco during my visit to Chicago. We started with the Margherita pizza, it had a classic crispy and chewy, thin crust, with a delicious red sauce and fresh mozzarella. It was excellent. I had the Tortellini alla Zucca, handmade butternut squash ricotta filled pasta with sage and brown butter. The legend behind the creation of these little pastas.....one day Venus, the goddess of love crossed paths with an innkeeper. The innkeeper was so inspired, he flew into the kitchen and made an egg noodle wrapped around a filling of ricotta and Parmesan cheeses. Tocco's tortellinis resemble more of a ravioli, regardless, the pasta was cooked perfectly and the butternut squash ricotta filling was creamy and sweet. I tasted the spaghetti ordered by another individual in my party, it was very good, especially the red sauce.

Yelp
We had an amazing meal at Tocco tonight. We had been at their Wicker Park location when it was still open, so we were excited to try this location. Tocco is located on this lovely quiet street on Chestnut in Winnetka. It was easy to find parking and when we approached the restaurant, the outdoor seating area looked like an European cafe on the street in Europe. We chose to eat inside due to the heat. The inside of the restaurant was modern with a very elegant feel with white tablecloths and beautiful tableware. They have a nice bar, gorgeous bouquets of fresh flowers and very cool modern artwork. You can tell a lot of thought went into the decor. Even the bathrooms were beautiful! We had excellent service and I had a feeling the food would be great as a big family speaking Italian was seated next to us and I figured if they were eating there, it had to be good! I started with the perfectly seasoned Insalata Di Bosco with arugula, mushrooms and shaved Parmesan. We then all shared a margherita pizza that was absolutely delicious. I had the cacio e pepe. It was a perfect portion size, plated simply and beautifully and I loved it. My husband had the spaghetti al tumbarello with San Marzano tomatoes and basil and thoroughly enjoyed his as well If you would like an elegant, authentic and amazing Italian meal in the north suburbs, this is the place! This will definitely become a regular stop for us.

Yelp
My favorite Italian restaurant in the suburbs. The restaurant has great food and great ambience. I always recommend the pappaardelle norcina. The pizza is fantastic too! Plenty of parking around the area. Go there and enjoy!

Yelp
I had a reservation for six people for dinner. Our party arrived early and we were shown a table for four, which they said could work for us if we sat 3 in booth for two and squeezed in a chair between another table which most definitely wouldn't fit a person. This was the only indoor option. A group of six. children wouldn't fit at this table. She says our other option is that we could sit in an outdoor tent with no AC or fan on a 95 degree humid day. There were no apologies about not honoring a reservation and we were not offered to wait for a table indoors. Since we were celebrating an occasion and were hungry, we were sat in the tent and started to sweat. Though we were the first parties sat in the tent and watched the entire tent fill up (about 10 tables), and ordered our dinner before anyone else, it was really unusual to note that we received our food after every single other table was served. Especially odd that we only ordered pastas and no meats. The burrata focaccia was very very tasty and the wine was really smooth, and the cacio pepe was delightful. Everything else was an absolute miss and everyone went unfortunately hungry. Tortellini was way way too sweet, all red sauce lacked any flavor or gusto, four cheese pizza was unusually rotten tasting but actually just had blue cheese as one of the four cheeses and dripped in added olive oil, gnocci fell apart when you forked it. I thought it could be saved by dessert. The ricotta cheesecake came out HOT, not a hot plate, the inside of the ricotta was hot. I thought maybe they gave us a piece that was sitting out in the 95 degree heat and asked if it's supposed to be hot, and they said yes. I've been to a thousand Italian restaurants and have lived in Italy and this seemed really odd too. Overall, odd, slightly offensive experience. Sorry to say, I hope this was a very, very off night for them.

Yelp
Excellent tortelloni and pappardelle that are so fresh. Loved the truffle cream that comes with the pasta and the olive oil served with bread has deep flavors. Lots of great wine including super Tuscan. Tiramisu very delicious

Aleyia C.

Yelp
Came in for date night. My boyfriend and I were probably the youngest couple in the restaurant and felt we were treated at a lower standard because of our age. We didn't receive attentive service like other groups who arrived after us. Bread was served to us only after asking, and was cold and hard. We ordered the Fusilli Bolognese, Pappardelle Bisanzio, and a Margarita Pizza to share. The environment definitely fit under the category of fine dining due to its modern ambiance. I would say prices are a little much for the burnt pizza crust and service received. I won't deny the Fusilli Bolognese was appetizing and the owner was welcoming. Overall, I would have a hard time agreeing to come back.

Yelp
Just perfect for family dinner. Everything was great! Delicious food, very tasty cocktails, excellent service. The atmosphere was cozy and friendly. Definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
Had a 7 pm reservation for 4 and arrived on time. We were told our table would be in the tent. We wanted to be inside but they said the empty 4 top was for a party if five.. The tent was a block away and had plastic furniture. We said we would go elsewhere (Pomneroy,, as it turned out). The hostess didn't care at all and we have been told the owner is equally rude.

Yelp
Great Ambiance, ok service due to how busy they were, and hit or miss food, we had a salad that was so little and basic, and pasta dishes one was ok, truffle one was outstanding and one was average. I heard pizza was good but we didn't try it, maybe next time. Owner was so friendly and made sure to welcome and greet everyone coming in and leaving! Which I always appreciate

John McLinden M.

Yelp
Terrific food and atmosphere dining outside. Cheapest wine pour in Chicago. Maybe 4 ounces.

Anne G.

Yelp
The place is BEAUTIFUL! The food is Fresh and So Delicious I could cry! Service Spectacular! And Bruno is an Extraordinary Host and Owner, who has given his attention to every detail! Hands down...A GEM!

Bob P.

Yelp
We really wanted to love this place. The outdoor patio, especially in back, is really cozy and amazing, but the overall experience was just average. Our server was indifferent at best. No real welcome or interest in telling us about the place-- dare I say unfriendly. She let us order and THEN informed us they were out of pepperdelle. Why not state what they are out of upfront, BEFORE we order?? We were regularly left hanging much of the night. Not sure if they are short-staffed, but it was quite noticeable. We had to flag people down for more water, fresh pepper, another cocktail, even our check. For the prices here, it would be nice to be treated with basic attentive and friendly service. The food was pretty good but tainted by the overall indifferent service experience. I doubt we'll be back but it was worth a shot.

Yelp
We met some friends at friends at Tocco for a Friday night get together, they were big fans. The weather was great and we were able to enjoy al fresco meal in a very pleasant setting. A couple days before we went, my wife checked the menu and saw they served bronzino, our favorite. When we got there, we were informed that things might be a little slow, 5 people had failed to show up. The waiter was OK, but seemed a little confused. The reverse side of the menu was mostly beer and wine and I asked him if they had hard liquor and he pointed to a list of cocktails, which seemed like the only choices. I ordered the only drink on the list with bourbon on it, but when our friend sitting next to me asked for a Tito's martini, I asked if they had Woodford Reserve and switched my order to one of those on the rocks. Ordering dinner, I asked if the bronzino was a whole fish (the way I like it). The waiter informed me that they cut off the head and tail, which was a concession, but OK. When it arrived, it was missing more than the head and tail, it was a filet, my LEAST favorite way to have bronzino or red snapper, for that matter. The fish was bland and the consistency felt like it had been in the freezer to a week. Very disappointing. Our friends said the pasta was good, very "authentic," whatever that means, but I didn't try it. The tiramisu was very sweet and maybe authentic for Winnetka, but not so much for Little Italy.

Glenn U.

Yelp
Very overrated Italian food. Little to no flavor in almost every dish. Brought our own wine and the wanted a $75.00 corkage fee. I have been there over 6 times and am done with this place.

Yelp
Loved our date night at Tocco. The ambiance is intimate and beautiful, similar to restaurants you would find in the city. The homemade truffle pasta was the star of the show. Absolutely phenomenal. Can't wait to return to try more of their handmade pasta dishes. We also tried one of their risotto specials. In addition to market price being incredibly and unexpectedly high, the dish fell flat compared to the pasta we had. A great place for date night, to dine out with friends, or to celebrate a special occasion!

Yelp
WOW! Perfection all around! Bruno the Owner has created a destination spot for high end Italian in a very cosmopolitan room. Small and chic, understated and vibrant, Tocco is everything. Bruno is gracious and kind. He checked on us often. Our server, Gelaina (I think) was quite busy but still remained attentive. On a girl's night, we headed up from the city to Winnetka. This adorable little town offers a cute, vintage looking neighborhood that is juxtaposed against the stylishly mod restaurant. This corner location has tons of windows, a simple white background and stunning artwork. The room seems styled to showcase Tocco's gorgeous cuisine. We loved everything we tried. My vegetable tartare was incredible! Our chicken and pasta were tender and delicious. And our desserts were memorable. I cannot wait to return!

Whodat Q.

Yelp
The food is delicious but I sometimes feel like I am not hip enough to eat here. I love the outdoor seating, and the whole vibe in the summer. I have eaten here a few times and I've gotten the focaccia, the lemon chicken and a pasta special. I always get a glass of Rose and have not had a bad meal here.

Yelp
My husband and I got a last minute reservation (thanks open table notifications!) and came for dinner. Ironically, we both weren't feeling great so didn't order as much as we typically would have, but the food and service was great. We were greeted by a friendly host who took our jackets and also the owner. Once we sat, our waitress was very attentive and friendly - and also gave us some great recommendations! We ordered the gnocchi alla bolognese which had robust flavor and tasted like a potato cloud (would 100% recommend) and also the pappardelle Al limone. The pappardelle had very intense (in a good way) lemon flavor and was a little too buttery for me. I'd probably try something next time that had a different flavor, but just my opinion (was still very good!) we also split the pollo con funghi and it was very good - a good size to share (3 small chicken breasts) pounded with a mushroom sauce, potato purée and spinach. I could have used more mushrooms (I also LOVE mushrooms) but the flavor was good and the potato purée like butter! Can't wait to come back and have more food + wine :)

Shane M.

Yelp
This place is cool. Good more authentic style of Italian for the suburbs. Almost as good as Mino's down the street. Inside is so bright it's shocking. I only go in the summer for the outdoor seating in the street. Solid spot though

Per U.

Yelp
Amazing Italian with nice ambience that feels like a little bit of the city, if that's possible in Winnetka. Great pastas and olive oil, very nice wines and cocktails. Apparently someone has a vendetta out on Tocco's owner and is spamming low reviews. He is a colorful personality that to me adds a lot to the feeling of authenticity. The guy lives above the restaurant! Nice bar inside as well. Great spot for a date night. Beautiful outdoor spots in the summer.

Yelp
Service was great. Food was blah. Over priced food and honestly people only pay for the boujee atmosphere.
google avatar

Eric C.

Yelp
Super pricey for the quality of food. Service was pretty good, food was "ok". With these sort of prices won't be back. Our table had a few of the pastas - pasta itself was cooked good, but the sauces we either lacking it was to much.. Apps were small, as were the mains.

Yelp
A very excellent modern Italian place with a comfortable interior and delcious food. I've tried the calamari and it's delicious with crisp breading and good seasoning. I'm glad this place makes a quality and well executed spaghetti carbonara with just eggs and cheese. Good amount of bacon throughout the dish and very creamy. I've also tried the pappardelle alla norcina, something I've heard of, but this was the first time trying it, and I would definitely get it again. Good amount of sausage and truffle flavor in the dish. Tiramisu is very good as well with light coffee flavor and not too overwhelming compared to some other places. Service here is very good and welcoming. Some of the dishes could be a bit larger for the price; not somewhere I'd make a staple for myself, but overall very delicious and solid for Italian food.
google avatar

Richard G.

Yelp
We had a pizza for app and 4 pasta dish's. I had 2 glasses of wine. Cost 277 with tip. The pasta dish's were all tasty. The pizza was a big hit. I put the cost in there because it was way to expensive for the quality and quantity of the food. Even with the ever present inflation excuse. Was busy on a Friday. And everybody was smiling. Not bad, bud not amazing. You will enjoy the taste, just not the bill
google avatar

Lori H.

Yelp
wow!! so good -huge outdoor beautiful area to dine where they close the street at 5 pm and you're in a courtyard lined with trees. Amazing & thoughtful service. We had the endive salad (superb flavour, large portion), lentil soup (def homemade), burrata with tomatos (delicious and def portioned for two), lasagna bolognese (melt in your mouth goodness) and summer lasagna (a little different dish with egg -my husband kept wanting my lasagna bolegnese instead but it was still good). For dessert, panna cotta (so fresh, perfect texture), apple tart with hazelnut sorbet (yum), one Prosecco, two glasses of the Tuscan red and cafe americana (the best cafe! individually made). Everything is yummy and the homemade pasta simply melts in your mouth!!! I already miss the pasta and will be back! For two, with 3 drinks, app, soup or salad, 2 desserts, one coffee and two entrees --the bill was $156. I think if people are critical of that price range or portions, they don't do any fine dining, because I found the prices low for this type of restaurant. Live music begins around 7 pm on the patio on Saturday. Local favorite, for certain -- make reservations
google avatar

Annette B.

Yelp
I am IN LOVE with this restaurant! I spent an anniversary dinner here and had a wonderful time enjoying their outdoor dining area. The meals are perfectly portioned with fresh ingredients. This place is an absolute gem and a big favorite of mine! I cannot laud this place enough!

Teena S.

Yelp
We wanted to give this place a try since it's local and a good place to compare to Mino's in Hubbard Woods. Restaurant is very beautiful and elegant. You didn't see many kids in the restaurant so a great date night place. The bar area is nice too. Burrata with grape tomatoes - Decent Pappardellee alla norcina - Pasta was fresh and delicious. The sausage was good. I loved that this dish wasn't too heavy on the cream sauce at all. Only thing missing was I couldn't taste the truffles, which was disappointing. Bolognese (split into 2 plates) - thanks for splitting the dish. Overall, the dish was decent. Veal rigatoni - Good (My friend said he was still hungry after the dish) Gnocchi bolognese - my friend preferred the veal rigatoni one out of the 2 dishes Overall, a bit expensive, not a great place to bring kids, but a great date night spot. Everyone who worked there was nice.

Yelp
Owner was rude to staff and made it an off putting experience being there definitely wont be back. We'll stick to Minos.

Dale D.

Yelp
Great food, wonderful atmosphere ... one of my favorite spots on the North Shore. Every selection is delicious, authentic and memorable.

Yelp
The food is always amazing when we come here. The staff is always so nice! Chef Bruno coming to the tables and making sure everything is to the customer's liking gives the restaurant such a nice personal touch. Love this place so much!

Charlie G.

Yelp
Food was good, but our experience was ruined by how unabashedly rude they were in ushering us out the door. Despite the fact that we had a group of four and ordered a generous multi-course meal with lots of drinks, both owner and staff were very aggressive towards us, pointedly hovering, rolling eyes, bringing the check before we were even close to being done, and finally a loud comment from the obnoxious owner to our server right in front of us about how he needed the table. It was very unpleasant and we won't be coming back.
google avatar

Cherie F.

Yelp
It was so pleasant eating outside - nice size glass of wine and the food was great! Staff were attentive and the owner was there checking on everyone.

Yelp
Really stellar. Best itallian locally. Beach Munoz hands-down. The papadelle with sausage and black truffle was really special. The pasta is homemade and tender. Shari Duffy Was a whimsically delightful hostess. often times these places forget how important front of the house is. And as gregarious and as welcoming as the character owner is his whole staff seems to reflect him. This is a complement. Due to the plannedemic We sat outside next to the fountain in the street. As the church bells rang I thought to myself I could be back in Cotta de Castillo Italy. my wife is from Italy. My children are Italian citizens as well as Americans. My in-laws are right off the plane. We dug this place and you will too. And now one important question: Why am I not Yelp Elite yet With the kind of stellar review you just read above?

Christopher S.

Yelp
Great ambiance, wonderful true Italian food. Friendly and attentive service. Favorite North Shore restaurant.

Yelp
I had always wanted to try Tocco in the city so was excited to hear when it was making the move to the burbs. The space it occupies in Winnetka seems to change over pretty frequently, but my hope was that Tocco would be here to stay. After reading the first few stellar Yelp reviews I had high hopes and suggested to another couple that we check it out on a Saturday night. As the night approached I noticed less than stellar reviews starting to come in, but figured we'd give it a fair shot. Overall, I found the experience to be just OK and pales in comparison to some of the other Italian options in the area (Mino's comes to mind). The restaurant itself is beautiful and quaint. And the service was friendly & attentive. The food was fine, but overpriced IMO. We started with a few appetizers: meat/cheese plate and a mozzarella tomato plate. They were pretty good, but it's rare I come across a cheese plate I don't like. For my main course I went with a salad (veggie tartare- highlight of my meal) & then the octopus appetizer for my entree. I typically love octopus, but didn't find this to be very good. However, the rest of the table seemed to like their entrees so maybe I just ordered wrong. I probably won't run back anytime soon, but always exciting to see new restaurants popping up in the area and plan to give it another shot at some point.

Yelp
I am an individual diner NOT the competition bad-mouthing its competition. Overall VERY disappointing. We had wonderful weather, a great outside table, and great companionship with good friends. We had reasonably attentive service (except for a laughably clueless "waterboy" - a first summer job so I should not be too harsh except that the management could have at least trained this poor boy). So, let's talk about the food. At first I thought I was the victim of a prank to see whether I would notice or complain. How any respectable Italian restaurant, especially one in upscale Winnetka, can serve such uninspired, tasteless, and criminally small portion food like this is simply beyond my understanding. it was literally terrible. Our dining companion used the term "gross." Every restaurant has it's bad nights but this was ridiculous and inexcusable. The Chicken Limone was tasteless, rubbery AND cold. Literally, chicken McNuggets with a splash of lemon juice would have been far superior. And serving this with mashed potatoes has to be some sort of Italian culinary crime. Pappardelle Bolognese was literally a half a cup of tasteless noodles with a splash of nothing more than tomato juice with a few nuggets of beef - hardly the robust ragu that bolognese is supposed to be. I should have called over the obviously charming and gregarious manager/owner and complained but I just could not imagine where to start and why ruin a bad meal with an ugly encounter. But really, he should be ashamed of himself. Dinner for four with only one glass of wine and one gelato desert came to $200 with tip. Shameful, inexcusable and unfortunate.

Victor S.

Yelp
Very friendly waitress. Everyone else did not seem happy to be there. In there for a light snack. Waitress offered to divy up skirt steak, beet salad and lemon pasta (italian names on menu). When they brought it out incorrectly we politely reminded the gentleman of out conv w waitress. Look of annoyance on his face. Went back in to use the BR 3 min after leaving. Took a wrong turn and was headed in to the hallway that leads to the kitchen. Some salt and peper bearded snapperhead got in my face in the snootiest way. Bartender than rudely reminded me where the bathroom was in the other direction. The food was decent. With the exception of the waitress the rest of the staff made it a slightly negative experience. If I treated patients that way in my medical practice I wouldn't be doing as well as I am. Generally when most people at a business treat a customer that way it's just poor leadership.

Yelp
My Favorite restaurant these days! I wish there was more places around like this. Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food and an owner that goes from table to table to make sure you are happy!!

Allen W.

Yelp
The food is good, but the owner is obnoxious. We had a birthday dinner there in which we brought a cake and they gave it to another table. The server was apologetic, but the owner was indifferent. We will not be back.

Mar F.

Yelp
Very pricey, average food, at least in the Winnetka location. $35 for a small bowl of soup and a small salad for lunch.

Anthony S.

Yelp
I would traditionally give this five stars but due to recent rapid expansion it is clear that Bruno is compromising the integrity and quality of the original smaller quaint restaurant. I truly love this place and I understand the desire to expand and accommodate the demand however he has not been able to deliver the standard and consistency that originally drew this drew me to this Formerly amazing establishment. His prices have also dramatically increased with the expansion and given the deterioration I do not believe it offers the value that it once had. I still give it four stars because it offers a unique dining experience and non-traditional Italian menu that distinguishes it from other standard Italian American cuisine.Calamari Fritti

Ed S.

Yelp
if I could leave zero stars, I would not a pleasant experience. Owner was extremely rude and asked us to get up mid dinner because he didn't have room for more people super out of pocket. Definitely won't be back.
google avatar

Thomas H.

Yelp
Fantastic food, wine and atmosphere with great outdoor seating. I ordered the pappardelle alla norcina - outstanding - with the burrata as an appetizer and a super Tuscan. Completely satisfied with my delightful dinner and will be coming back often to try other (I'm sure, delicious) options.

Patrick J.

Yelp
While the food is delicious and the service marginal, Chef Bruno needs to stop boasting about "saving Winnetka" to every patron that passes through his door. His ego threatens to destroy this charming neighborhood bistro with egomaniacal statements that do nothing but insult those of us who are life-long residents of Winnetka. Chef- you did not "save" Winnetka. We were just fine. Focus on your service and let humility be your guide. Lake Forest will not tolerate your ego, either.

Yelp
Delightful outdoor space. Covid protocol followed. Terrific server (Londan)! We shared a fresh fennel salad with orange slices and slivered almonds. Both of us had fresh pasta. 1 with sausage. 1 with mussels, clams and I think sea bass. Both were delicious. Aperol spritz was perfect. No room for dessert. Would definitely return.

Yelp
The food is very tasty and the ambience is excellent. Very elegant setting. Our disappointment was that during our dinner with two other couples last night, my wife and I were served dinner a full 10 minutes after the other couples in our party were served. Not handled well at all. Bruno did come to the table to check on us ... but a gesture of good will would have been more than appropriate by him. He could have provided us a desert to make up for the mistake. I will chalk it up to a "one off" blunder. We will give Toco another try. The waitress was very good, otherwise.
