Today's Ketch Seafood Restaurant is a hidden gem, though it is likely well-known among the local community. Eight of us visited for a late lunch, and we found both the food and service to be exceptional. We, of course, enjoyed the crayfish and the sampler platter, complemented by a refreshing cold beer!! Highly recommend and looking forward to returning.

After trying to take the appropriate steps to resolve a situation and being what felt like an interrogation by the owner when speaking with him (Jeff) I decided to share my experience with others. My order was for 4lbs of crawfish and a dozen female crabs. I was not given my cash discount, shorted a pound of crawfish and given 4/12 male crabs. I contacted the store the day this happened and was told that they were to busy and to call back and speak to Jeff on a weekday. I did this and he treated me as if he did not believe me that I had weighed my crawfish when I got home to know that it was an entire pound short, asked if I had eaten the male crabs and I told him no that I had them frozen in my freezer. He said he didn't want them and asked why I did not call that day and waited. I explained that I did and that is when he started questioning me and acting as if I went about the situation all wrong or I was not telling the truth. Instead of addressing the situation as a professional business owner I was made to feel like I did something wrong. I told him that we had been customers for over ten years and instead of thanking me I was told they have been in business for forty years and acted as if no one has ever had an issue. He offered to give me back what I was over charged and a pound of crawfish. There was no mention of the crabs. They were the wrong crabs and not what we enjoy eating but were left to settle. The crawfish was mediocre compared to other places and the hot food it pricey but the location was close to home so it made it a reasonable choice. After feeling that I was treated like I was trying to get something I did not deserve and questioned like a criminal I will NEVER go back. My family and friends feel the same way and we have since tried Casanova Seafood down the road and we were treated like valued customers and the prices are so much better! I tried to give this small business a chance before leaving a review but it made me feel worse. The thing that makes me feel best is that I will never have to deal with this type of unappreciation from this owner who lacks accountability. I can understand the other negative post on the behavior of the owner and agree. It is sad that you will throw away a long time customer over literally four crabs and not care. I will spend my money where I feel appreciated and not just "another customer". Also, make sure you are given your cash discount because it is no telling how many others have been cheated out of what they deserved.

On yesterday 02/27, I went in the afternoon ordering the half and half dinner, I was very pleased because the food was good, hot and well seasoned. The fish and the shrimp were crispy and crunchy the way I like it fried , also the fettuccini and macaroni also the salad were good too. Also the price was reasonable- I will be back again soon.

Lovely people and lovely food. Everything was fresh and delicious, especially the shrimp and oysters! The gumbo was really good as well. My only regret is that I did not bring a cooler to take some of their chilled goodies home!

MUST visit location for your vacation, date, family get together or just because you want to! The employees are super friendly and happy to help with any questions you might have! The food was delicious and cooked to perfection! The soft shelled crab was amazing!!! Will definitely visit again when in the NOLA area! Thank you ladies for an awesome meal!!

Place is nice. Fries were meh. Oyster Poboy was good. Chocolate cheesecake was nice. I would go back. Staff needs to be more diverse. At the same time everyone was nice.

Wow. Best crawfish I’ve ever had. Everything was great and the staff goes out of their way to make sure you have a good experience. Highly recommend. Visited from NY Feb 2025.

Fantastic seafood restaurant. The corn and crab soup was delicious, the stuffed crab with jambalaya was great too. The hot crawfish boudin was my favourite though, so tasty. Service was quick and friendly and food was great value for money. Highly recommended

This is a seafood market that serves fresh food. Friendly service and a small dining area make for a great local restaurant experience. We saw lots of take out orders being picked up.

I love coming here to get the fried shrimp poboy combo. It comes with fries and a drink for about $20. The artichoke bread is a must try as well

Every year I go to New Orleans for crawfish season and I always come here to get their crawfish! The flavor is good and the service is fast. Their prices are always fair and the spice is always pretty good.

Great fresh seafood! They also make their own plate dinners! And if you need to fill a propane tank, they can do that too.

Portion sizes were enormous! Food was tasty. Service was fast and friendly. We split one shrimp creole plate, which came with fried shrimp, salad and a roll, and one 12" dressed shrimp Po'Boy. It was a lot of food, but we ended up finishing the entire Po'Boy and making quite a dent in the shrimp creole too. Would recommend this place! They also sell desserts and fresh seafood.

We have great seafood in Florida but the fried shrimp and fish were some of the best I have ever had!! Also, the jambalaya and crawfish fettuccini were excellent.

One thing I dread about eating in fish market that doubles as a restaurant, is the potential of overwhelming fishyness. Now before you come at me, I mean, there's a possibility there'll be not perfectly fresh fish, or they use a lot bleach to clean, or something that smells like you're on a dock. But, I can still do take out. This place, is very clean, no over riding fish smells, staff is super friendly, and you can tell this place is filled with locals. I had an Oyster Po Boy, fully dressed, 6 inch, and it was satisfyingly filling. Oysters were definitely freshly shucked, no hint of bitterness one gets from grocery store, and in the plastic tub. Fries and drink good. I'll stop by again next time I'm passing thru. Parking is plentiful and easy to access. They also do shipping of their seafood.

Clean. Easy parking. Friendly staff. Busy place. Prices just ok. Had the roast beef poboy and it was sloppy, which is good, but I was really distressed in the meat...could have been better. The roast beef was thick slices like it was cut from a deli. Not slow roasted or tender. My friend has the shrimp poboy which was a little better. Not the best place to grab a poboy!

Very short review! Tried their crawfish at the Crawfish Festival, and wow!! Talk about having the right amount of seasoning. If you're not a fan of spiciness but can enjoy seasoned crawfish, then these are perfect (and I loveeee spicy crawfish). The lemon really shines through as well. The corn and potatoes were also pretty good! I definitely recommend if you're in that part of town.

Todays ketch, Rocky and Carlos, and CHARLIES! An oligopoly!!! They had to expand (like most of the places that I 5 star ) When building Elaine Meraux school we are here as a bonus for working hard . Those guys will "Never forget" the small dive I "suggested", lol

Was in the area and found this place in yelp as I wanted a seafood lunch. I was very impressed. You can dine in or take out. I placed my takeout order over the phone and the lady was very nice and repeated my order back to make sure it was correct. My order was ready on time and the food was very good. Nice portions and great prices. Will definitely go again.

Anything less than 5 stars is just not fair.. honestly they do an outstanding job. Everything is super fresh and delicious. The owners are a delightful couple who work hard to make this place what it is! Great food and great staff.. loved our meals which were fried catfish and fried shrimp!! If you are looking for GREAT SEAFOOD...you have just found it. Thank you to the we entire team for a job well done!

My 61st birthday is this weekend. To celebrate such events, My Beloved and I usually dine at a nice steakhouse - Cowboy Star is a favorite - or we enjoy excellent Italian food at Solare at Liberty Station. But I've been dieting, limiting myself to 1000 calories per day, which is to say, I can have a stick or a rock, but not both. So, when my bride asked where I'd like to have my special dinner, I thought not about the experience, but about the calories that our favorite places serve up. Then I decided that we ought to try something different. I'm a longtime fan of Gulf Coast-style boiled seafood - crawfish, shrimp and crab - especially as it's prepared in southern Louisiana. I often crave the spices used there, and I'm knocked out by the way that boiling works the spice in under the shell and bathes the meat with flavor. I am chiefly fond of blue crab. Not monstrous, tough king crab. Not Dungeness, which I find too dense to take spice well. Definitely not salty, mushy, scrawny snow crab, which is offered on all-you-can-eat buffets for a reason. Nope. I'm a blue crab man, born and bred, immoderately addicted to the hunt for small bites of firm, slightly briny and buttery meat, a crab at a time, all day long. At about 30 calories per ounce, blue crab has little fat and no carbs, and while it's true that crab boiled the way I like it is high in cholesterol and sodium, those aren't problems for me. In San Diego, I can buy live blue crab at the local Asian markets, in season, for about $5 per pound, which is double what one pays at the docks in St. Bernard Parish or at the seafood market in Westwego. Despite the price, I'd be happy to buy and cook my own crabs (I own an 80-quart pot with a basket for just that purpose), but the live blue crabs available in San Diego are tiny fellers, suitable only for flavoring a gumbo or soup. They're heartbreaking, if your heart is set on a substantial meal. An alternative is to have live crabs shipped from the Gulf Coast or the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake. I've done so, and find I lose 15% to 20% of the product, which raises my cost per crab and worse, leaves me short when it's time to cook. Of course, there are Asian-Cajun boil-in-a-bag seafood restaurants, but I think they're for people who've never had crawfish, shrimp or crab cooked properly. I eat that food, but as I do, I always feel a bit sorry for the shellfish; they deserve to die a more respectable death. Another choice, the one I made for this birthday weekend, is to buy crabs already cooked and have them delivered. This makes the price unreasonable, mostly due to shipping charges, but it gets me what I want. I'd stopped in at Today's Ketch a few times over the years, on my way back from fishing out of Shell Beach or Hopedale, so I knew their boil was good, and I'd read about their catering operation, but until last week, I didn't know that they ship out of state. After talking with similar operations in Kenner, Houma and Belle Chasse, I gave Today's Ketch a call. While I ordered over the phone, an exchange of just a couple of calls, I was struck by how patient the staff were. I'm not sure that they should have been so tolerant of my monkeying around with shipping arrangements, as I tried to bring down the cost of my birthday dinner. But the real surprise was that although they could have sent me small, scruffy crabs that were missing claws and were cracked along the back - you know, the ugly ones at the bottom of the pot - Today's Ketch boxed up 18 heavy and intact #1 Jimmy's, truly "pretty" ones, then laid in eight or so ice packs, strapped the box shut, and got them to my house less than 24 hours after they were cooked. It may surprise the uninitiated to hear that not all seafood boils taste the same, but it's true; the quality of the food itself matters, of course, but so does timing: time in the boiling pot, time spent cooling down and hold time after the boil. Too much or too little of one of these, and your shellfish will stick to its shell, or be tough to chew, or taste washed out or overly spicy, or something else disappointing to the people you're trying to feed. Quality is also found in the boiling spices: in the region, from one town to the next, even from one boil to the next, there can be variations in the flavors underlying the first hit of cayenne in the spice mix. Today's Ketch makes, uses and sells their own private blend of boiling spices, which I enthusiastically recommend. Finally, and not for nothing, the gorgeous crabs they sent were delicious, but my recent experience with Today's Ketch was more than just a meal or a financial transaction. The folks that helped me - especially June (my first contact) and Mandy (who handled my order) - treated me like a good, regular customer, a friend, reminding me why I enjoy the time I spend around Chalmette, and locking me in as a customer when I'm in da parish and as a customer by phone, every birthday or so.

To start off i got attitude for asking if i can get seasoned crawfish. We are not from Louisiana so i figured it didn't hurt to ask. We got COLD crawfish and when we asked to get it heat up and they refused to help us. They said there was nothing they could do. Owner came out refused to heat up our food refuse to refund us before everything else came out. So unprofessional. Also pulled out a non active duty batch and threatened us.

Lots of variety of food to choose from, in addition to their lunch menu and boiled seafood. Reasonable pricing, very pleasant staff and a lot of staff always on standby ready to assist. Today's Catch is always ready to reach out to the community during an emergency and does not expect anything in return.

Today's catch seafood is one of my favorite seafood spots to enjoy in Chalmette. There's boiled seafood and hot food as well, there staff is friendly, fast and delicious the food is always season to perfection. I ordered the crawfish, potatoes, corn and sausage. Ooooohhh so tasty. I also ordered boiled crabs, its served cold before 11am, after 3pm crabs are spicy and fresh afterwards.

I know it's a seafood restaurant, but they have some really good baked chicken as a special . You get not one ,but two leg quarters ,along with mashed potatoes and some really tasty green beans.

Always first quality, fresh seafood available. They have an impeccable relationship with local fisherman in the area. We had a dozen number one male crabs boiled 2 pounds of shrimp, corn, potatoes, sausage, mushrooms, all the trimmings. They serve them with a dish of garlic butter. We also split a shrimp and oyster plate. We had a craving for fried seafood. We also talked to several Items Home, they were a Famous, shrimp, dip, stuffed mushrooms, gumbo and crawfish fettuccine. The staff is friendly and courteous quick on our feet Jeff and Terri the owners are always present and vigil. They definitely on top by their restaurant and servers. I highly recommend to anyone for a great meal a great source for fresh seafood to fill your freezer boiled broiled fried you name it they got it with a whole host of all the delectables to temperature palette. Also ready to eat meals to dine in or go.

Great seafood with EXCELLENT customer service! Great atmosphere with welcoming and "hometown" ambiance. The entire staff is warm, friendly and ready to satisfy each & every patron.

The food is Great, but it's often packed and cramped, so it can be hard to get the drinks you want and find a table to eat at. I recommend a little more room:).

I heard this place had great crawfish, so I drove 30 minutes to see if that was true. I have admit, these crawfish were perfectly cooked. None were over cooked, they had a slight spice to them with hints of lemon flavor. I loved the potatoes. The corn was pretty spicy. I was sad they did not offer garlic, but I really loved the sausage they had. One of the best crawfish boiled sausage, I think I have ever had. I also bought a stuffed artichoke and it was truly OVER stuffed and very good. The service was great as well. It is set up like a seafood shop where you purchase your food at the counter. There were a few tables inside if you wanted to dine in as well. They even had some desserts like slices of cake, pie, brownies and cookies that all looked tasty. Very much worth the trip.

The seafood is delicious. Always boiled to perfection. The crabs are always free from debris and juicy, the meat is so yummy.

This is a very busy seafood joint in da parish that offers fresh, boiled and fried seafood. They also have some nice items like crawfish pies and specials like crawfish bread and artichoke bread. The crawfish bread is actually more like a crawfish pie and actually better than their crawfish pie. The boiled crawfish and shrimp is alright but still not up the the maximum level that Big Fisherman brings to dominate that niche and remain king of the boil. The fried food entrees are generously sized and come with a nice selection of sides with the crawfish fettuccine seeming to be the most popular one. I am pretty grumpy that they add sausage to their seafood gumbo as I demand all seafood in my seafood gumbo if I'm going to eat it. Overall this is the prime spot for seafood in the area and it often has the line of waiting customers to prove it.

The freshest seafood. You can literally see it coming off the boats in the back parking lot. Also, this family owned business can cook! I mean I haven't had anything I don't like from them. They are primo. Today, my bf and I ate for less than $40 (including tip). We had shrimp, catfish, jambalaya, potato salad, soft shell crab, shrimp, and crawfish étouffée. Plus unlimited fountain drinks and two bud lights. The wait staff is friendly and consistent. I've been coming here since before Katrina (approx. 20 yrs), and it never fails to leave me wanting more. But not really Bc the portioning is so generous, I always have some to take home.

Always kind and nice when I have eaten here. You can also get sacks of oysters here or mini sacks and cook them yourself at home.

Love this place!!!! The food was SO GOOD (especially the soft shell crab...LOVE, LOVE, LOVE)!!! Everything was hot and fresh. The portions were more than enough and the prices were well fitting. The service was amazing! Definitely a hidden gem in Chalmette....I HIGHLY recommend them and will definitely go back when I am in the area!

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I honestly don't even know where to begin. We were visiting NOLA and wanted to try some crawfish. We came across this place. I ordered three pounds of crawfish and to my surprise on my first bite it was cold, not warm but cold. We politely asked the waitress to heat it up, even if it was in a microwave (as we were starving). Unfortunately, the waitress was rude and refused to heat up my food and proceeded to call the manager. You would think the manager would take care of it, but the story gets worse. Not only did he refuse to heat up the crawfish, but he had the audacity to call the police. Of course, at this point we were very upset and frustrated since neither the food was being corrected nor was I given a refund. The icing on the cake was the terrible and rude customer service from the wait staff who called me "trash" and that I "should be ashamed" of myself. In reality, this place should be ashamed of the manager and the waitstaff. Do yourself a favor and do NOT go to this restaurant. Spread the word!

Recently bought crawfish and a stuffed artichoke. The artichoke was more stuffing than artichoke leaves. Looked like a tiny artichoke when you dug to the bottom - not even a whole one! For $10.00 you expect a lot more! The crawfish had a odd flavor - not bad and not good. Also the price of the crawfish was extremely high. Never going there again.

Would not recommend this place at all, food was served cold ICE COLD after simply asking them for hot crawfish they had a problem with that apparently, the servers were rude to begin with. When 'management' got called Jeff-the owner simply tried to justify why it was cold and all we wanted was an accommodation as any TRUE owner would for their customers. He began to get loud and argumentative as well as defensive because we kept telling him it was cold and bland and then one of his staff members proceeded to another individual that was with us who was sitting down away from the chaos to tell her we were trash, but Ofcourse this was over looked by him. The situation escalated BECAUSE of the owners part and his staff members. When truly after such a horrible experience and dealing with a nasty attitude In the owners part we wanted to leave with a refund yet he refused. This place is truly 0 stars. After seeing several reviews on Yelp it seems they pick and choose who to provide good service to.

Great Service and good. Lots of food for the price. I had the soft shell crab , fried oysters. The crawfish fettuccine is awesome!

We came for propane stayed for lunch and so glad we did. Had a crawfish and oyster po'boy with potato salad. Amazingly good potato salad and the fully dressed sandwiches were to talk about. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Told us about a shop near by, Jean Freau Meats, that has a great little meat shop and poboy bread. Thanks for the tips!! We'll be back next year.

I'm from the Northshore, and I'm down in Chalmette for the week for a work training session. One of my coworkers brought me here and I fell in love. If there was an asteroid hurtling towards earth and we only had hours to live, I would jump in my car, make the hour and a half drive to Today's Ketch, and get the BEST fried crawfish poboy in the world. And the Mac and cheese? Easily the best I've had in my life (no one tell my Mawmaw!!). I've been multiple times this week and I can't wait to come to my next training just to eat here!

I have gotten other stuff in the past. Got crawfish today probably 20 minutes before closing and everyone was very friendly. You should know that this place does A LOT of business throughout the day and their staff holds it together pretty damned well. I say this as a restaurant manager. My crawfish were the best I've had this season. Almost all were medium/large and some were monsters. There's a secret ingredient to their boil that I'm trying to figure out. Very subtle. Maybe grapefruit? I can't place it. I always have a good experience here. You may pay a tiny bit more but it's worth it.

Congratulations to the owner and employees of this seafood store. I picked up delicious boiled crabs and crawfish there yesterday. An employee is standing outside in order to only let a few people in the store at one time. When inside you stand on separated red lines until you are called to the counter. All employees wear cloth face masks. They make you feel very comfortable picking up your food. Again. Great job!

Laid back NOLA eats. Dress is bayou casual: slides, SpongeBob pajamas topped with a shower cap. Food is fresh fried delicious. Oyster PoBoy loaded and dressed to order. What??

the crawfish fettucine was 7.50 without tax! it was pretty good. It was very cheesy if you like cheesy foods. The only real flavor was cheese, no elements of spice of anything. Maybe it would be better if crawfish was actually in season during my time of visit.

Amazing! We were staying at a nearby hotel for a wedding in New Orleans. We didn't want to drive all the way into the city for some good seafood and lucked out here. Really fresh seafood, lots of selection, and generous portions. We had a party of 6 adults and 2 babies, so we tried almost everything on the menu: crawfish, shrimp, catfish, oysters, po'boy, corn, sausage, pasta... nothing disappointed! Better than any touristy spot we tried in the city! So glad we found it and wished we were in town longer to eat here again.

Great value! I ordered a grilled chicken dinner as I am allergic to shellfish. It is a challenge finding tasty food in New Orleans when you are allergic to shellfish! The grilled chicken is not boring it is wonderfully flavorful. It comes with two sides, bread and a small salad. Very good amount of food for just $10! My group got shrimp which was a good value and tasty. The poboys were basically just a sandwich, I wouldn't come here for a poboy. This is a great place for crawfish, shrimp, etc. also good for an inexpensive and filling catfish or chicken dish!

Their boiled crawfish are spiced just right and never disappoints. If you are looking for boiled, fried, or live seafood they got you covered. My preferred spot for crawfish. They are legit.

The food is good however just learned that they charge a 4% fee when you use your debit card or credit card some companies will charge the 2% when it's ran as credit to pass on the fee that the merchant charges them for the purchase however charging 4% means that the business is benefiting by the 2% they also will not let you run it as debit. Check your receipt people I've been going there for years and just found this out I will not be returning.

This little seafood vendor and diner is a great place for lunch. The boiled crawfish, when in season is excellent and I am a big fan of the shrimp po boy. It's a little off the beaten track in Da Parish, but if your in the area, a good call for a cheap and yummy lunch. The fresh seafood counter offers a good selection of local seafood, shrimp etc. that seems priced to local markets.
