Todo Pa’ La Cruda Is Bringing Acapulco Specialties to the Former Salud Taco Space | Eater San Diego

"I learned that the family-run Mexican restaurant Todo Pa’ La Cruda, owned by Elizabeth Ruiz whose family moved from Acapulco to San Diego in the early 1990s, is opening a second outpost on Logan Avenue in the space that housed Salud Tacos after that taqueria’s abrupt June closure. Ruiz opened the original Imperial Avenue location in Grant Hill in 2020 and kept it open through the pandemic to the delight of many neighbors from Guerrero who were happy to find much-missed products like Yoli, a lemon-lime soda from southwest Mexico. Ruiz, who is also a real estate agent, says she had long admired the Barrio Logan corner spot while passing it on the way to Restaurant Depot; she secured a five-year lease, plans to open the new Todo Pa’ La Cruda within the next week or so, and will add some homey touches while keeping the interior and custom murals largely the same. Her mother, Doña Antonia, who used to cook for celebrities and dignitaries in Mexico, still trains the restaurant’s chefs on her recipes. With a name that translates to "everything for the hangover," the all-day menu includes restorative dishes like menudo, caldo de mariscos, and pozole verde made from scratch, and also offers mole chilaquiles, shrimp aguachile, plates of birra, plus tacos and burritos." - Candice Woo

Google
Food here is definitely Mexican authentic and absolutely delicious! Micheladas were on point! On this day we had pozole (which came with a chicken rolled taquito on the side), green salsa chilaquiles, chorizo and papa taco, rolled tacos en consume, and michelada.

Hey T.

Google
Food is amazing, green pozole ( comes with taco de pollo and all that for your pozole)🤤🤤🤤, fish tacos, birria, menudo. Wow we love it!. Everything is so yummy!. Mexican power!. Mexican food here is like no other😍🤩.

M W.

Google
Good experience — four stars on the food because the meats I tried (rib eye, abodabo, and shrimp form surf and turf) were slightly on the chewy side and might do better if they were more tender.

Santiago R.

Google
Amazing burritos! Only beef is that it is pricey ($13 for most burritos). For two burritos, platinos (an appetizer), one soft drink, tax, and a basic tip; you’re looking at $45. They did offer free chips and salsa too. Nice salsas.

Brandon B.

Google
The tacos were very good. Plus the service is very good as well. The chips and salsa they gave you was delicious.

Google
Orale, abuelitas and the jefitas cooking, sit down take a bite and take a trip to down memory lane. Excellent food, presentation and people. You can't go wrong with any of their dishes. Wife and I had the white and green pozole with all the garnishes that included a roll taco, tostada shell, chicharron, radishes, onions and cabbage For each of us. Fir dessert 3 leches cake with churros with ice cream. Anyways pick anything on the menu and you won't be disappointed. LOVE IT, LOVE IT!

Google
I got the Chilaquiles de mole plate with everything- including rice and beans and over easy eggs. It was delicious! My friend got tacos de adobada, which were also amazing (we tried each other's food), and the horchata was great, too! I ate so much, I didn't realise how full I was until I left and was walking around. I'll have to come back and try rest of the menu!

CVHO Ingieneria A.

Google
I ate two Asada Tacos and they were really good, handmade tortilla and guac

Yelp
Best Pozole Verde in town hands down! I've dined in twice and order to go another time and all my orders have been Pozole Verde. The seasoning is perfect, the broth delicious and the pork so juicy and tender. I love all the fixings you get as well. This time I tried their ceviche as well and it was fresh and delicious. With plenty of fish and octopus pieces. I highly recommend Todo Pa La Cruda for some good authentic Mexican dishes. You will not be disappointed! The restaurant is large with plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor. The staff is really nice and friendly. I always look forward to coming here!

Yelp
Service was great! Layout is a little awkward and this is a hybrid full service restaurant and takeout spot. You order at the window and they bring your food to your table. But they also bring out chips and salsa and refill your drinks and keep checking in on us if we need anything else. No messy salsa bar -- instead they bring each table large salsas brought to each table. Tables were also a little awkward... they kept part of the benches from previous restaurant and added some tables and chairs. The food was great! Burritos were stuffed! Parking was limited. Street parking only, no lot.
google avatar

Yelp
Todo Pa' La cruda is that wishful thinking restaurant that has everything you need to cure a hangover... just as the name suggests, lol. Went because I saw they had pozole. They offer it either white or green and I believe in chicken or pork option. I tried the green one with pork meat. It was delicious. It also comes with the cabbage, onion, tostada and a taco dorado (fried taco) oh man!! That hit the spot!! Other items ordered were the enmoladas (mole enchiladas) and the chicken tostada which was very fresh and delicious as well. The place itself is decorated with many Mexican items and the music being played is also Hispanic. You really felt like you're at home eating. The service was great! The ladies take care of you and are very attentive while you are their guest. I definitely do recommend coming to check out Todo Pa La Cruda. You won't regret it.

Yelp
I was devistated when Salud moved out of this space. I was afraid to try anything that moved into this location because I didn't think anything could replace my beloved Salud. Now- Salud was a different animal- I mean it still served Mexican food, tacos, etc... But I dare say- nothing as beautiful as the taco I had from here. We tried the Mahi Mahi and the surf and turf. Both were wonderful but the mahi mahi needs to be on more people's lists. This taco was beautifully cooked and the salsa was as colorful as it was flavorful. I know I'm late to the party, but welcome to the Barrio, you're going to do just fine here.
google avatar

Jenning L.

Yelp
We went here after a college graduation and were happy to hear they could accommodate our larger party of eight. We had originally went to their other location located more inland, but are glad we ended up at this location. The decor is cute, and the restaurant is located in a cute little strip of small shops. Everyone enjoyed their dishes/drinks and we were very full when we walked out. I will say however that we did order desserts at the end (tres leches), that took a LONG time to come out. So it was a bit awkward at the end waiting for 3 slices of tres leches to-go only to see that they brought us the desserts with dine-in plates.

Yelp
Someone sent me an article about Todo opening in the old Salud location. Since we really didn't know where to go one evening, I suggested here. The space is great! Especially the outside patio which is great for people watching. I ordered a chicken burrito and the birria tacos. Daveed wanted to try the carne asada plate. The burrito was a good size and delicious! But the birria tacos were sooooooooooo good! And that consomme! Swoon! Daveed said the carne was flavorful but the knife was not sharp enough to cut the meat properly. On the second visit, I tried the Plato de mole. The chicken was sooooo tender and that sauce was delicious with just the right amount of heat! I believe the tortillas are made in house and sooooo good! Scooter tried the chicken enchiladas de mole and his only complaint was that there was not enough chicken. I like the chips that come out before and the salsa is really good. Not the traditional chopped tomato kind. Todo is definitely in my rotation! There's a really nice homey feel and the staff is really friendly! Cako Approves!

Yelp
It used to be a restaurant called Salud in the same location. Who doesn't like Tacos on Tuesday? The horchata was great food was delicious and large portions. You order at the counter and grab your ticket, seat and food is delivered. Lovely interior decor.
google avatar

Luz M.

Yelp
The chicken pozole was delicious!! I have tried the pork one before and in my opinion the pork one was better but they both did not disappoint!! And the service was nice could have been better but overall decent.
google avatar

Estefania C.

Yelp
Delicious food. Friendly workers. Quick service. Their food was good. I had a quesadilla with birria inside. It was delicious and not too greasy. Full of flavor. It comes with limes and cilantro. Good amount it is two quesadillas cut up into pieces. Great spot that isn't fancy but has a lot of character. Everyone I went with enjoyed their food. Lots of parking outside.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place more stars. I''ve been to their original location so I just had to try this new one when I heard they took over the old Salud Tacos. I came here on Sunday during lunch and it was pretty busy and lively. Parking can get competitive, but it's to be expected of a prime corner restaurant in the heart of Barrio Logan. My friends and I ordered surf n turf tacos, chips and guacamole, quesabirria, pozole, fries and churros. Everything tasted like a home cooked meal and it was probably the best Mexican food I've ever had. You can't go wrong with fresh homemade tortillas and tortilla chips either. It's a good thing they took over the old spot lol. Milly helped us out and was super attentive. The food came out very fast and I didn't need to ask for water refills or for the plates to be cleared out of the way. I'll definitely be coming back often and might just become a regular.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday and it was super busy. That meant this place is just as popular as their OG location. Parking was kinda hard to find but got lucky and found one next to the restaurant. The place is huge and has great decor especially the mural. At this location, you order first and find a table which is opposite of the other location. We ordered the surf & turf, shrimp and fish tacos. Also the white pozole with chicken. Got to try the other dishes our friends got. My fave was the surf & turf taco. It was full of flavor & a cheesy surprise. The pozole was light and warm. I tried the carne asada fries our friend's ordered. It was super delicious & fresh. I also ordered a michelada with Pacifico and paired well with the dishes we got. There so much on the menu that we def have to come back try something new. Service is super friendly and they took care of us.

Yelp
Came in around 2pm on Sunday and it was PACKED! This was a good sign that the service and food was going to be spectacular. Ordered our food and drinks and received them within 15 minutes. It was so fast! - Beef tamales: 5/5 it was wrapped in banana leaves and came out super moist and flavorful - surf and turf fries: 5/5 this plate was HUGE! Our group of 6 couldn't finish it. It was loaded with so much shrimp and carne asada. Fries were crispy too - shrimp and surf & turf tacos: 5/5 seasoned to perfection! My usual go-to order here - beans: 5/5 honest beans are a hit or miss but it was definitely a hit here! - menudo: 5/5 the menudo was menudo-ing - churros: 5/5 rose strawberry and ice cream to complement the churros?! Say less Definitely stop by if you're in the area! They have another location nearby as well. Both have quality food and service!

Yelp
Went for a quick dinner on a Sunday night- they were so welcoming and didn't refuse service or rush us even tho we came right before closing. They even made us fresh chips! We loved the shrimp cocktail and aguachile, bought burritos for lunch the next day as we had to take an early train back from San Diego and get right to work. I did the vegetarian one and it was delicious the next day. Happy to have found this place, was a quick walk from our Airbnb and the locals are so lucky to have this around the corner. If I lived in the area I would be there often!
google avatar

Yelp
This place has the best chorizo con papa burrito I've ever had. I order chorizo burritos pretty often from tacos shops as a go to for breakfast and this is by far my favorite. I make the drive all the way from Chula Vista just to have it. It's a must try!!
google avatar

Robert Z.

Yelp
Visited 12/19/2024 What a pleasant Authentic Mexican Restaurant I visited today. I tried five different tacos and all were very tasty. The Birria Consommé is perfectly flavored I could have drank a whole pot. All the menu I tried was very good. Can't wait till I can try more of the menu.
google avatar

Yelp
I had the camarón agua chile a week ago and im still dreaming about it As someone who loves spicy food- this is SPICY- not for the weak stomachs, and SO SO flavorful. I was drinking it at the end. We also ordered: - carne asada burrito - tacos - shrimp quesadilla (HUGE) - Even their complimentary salsa and chips is worth mentioning, the salsa was kinda cheesy, I dunno but I need some to go next time. The agua chile was the star for me and what I filled up on but everything else was delicious and the portions large. I'm fighting myself not to go back Happy something great replaced Salud and I hope they're around for awhile.
google avatar

Monroe H.

Yelp
I love a good taco and this did not disappoint! It's got great flavor! Their birria is really good! Service was kind and prompt. I love the ambiance, there was a fake skeleton used as decor and I really liked the chair it was sitting on. The area that it's in is also a really cool spot. Please check it out!

Yelp
Food is good, reliable for a quick stop or second choice. Service was fine. Horchata is not good.
google avatar

Elle E.

Yelp
Hubby's reel watching paid off. One of the places he had on to watch out for when in San Diego. Food was great. Service was amazing. The place is clean. But the prices could be affordable if I want to patronize often. Really worth the stop while in SD for sure.
google avatar

Yelp
We decided to do a fish taco crawl today and Todo Pa was our first stop. In total we sampled 7 different tacos at various places and the 2 tacos we had here came in first and third. The grilled mahi mahi with the mango salsa was the best taco of the day and the best mahi mahi taco I have ever tasted. The fish was moist, the flavor was wonderful and not overcomplicated...just let the natural flavors come through. The surf and turf came in third. I really enjoyed it but I felt it was a little heavy on the sauce. The tortillas were fresh and delish as well. Everything came together nicely. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Andreas B.

Yelp
Been seeing the commercial on TV and dying to go finally got the chance It is order first then sit down and there's no server to attend your table at all times, we went right during lunch hour so the line was long but we got there first! The food was good and tasty, the drink was not really good! The place is clean and feels like bodega in Mexico, so it is authentically staged! VERDICT: I WILL COMEBACK
google avatar

Yelp
Was sad to see that Sabrosa was gone, but this is definitely a good successor. I had a mole taco, and it was delicious.

Yelp
Great news! Todo Pa La Cruda has taken over Salud Tacos' location on Logan. So, those of you who love downtown or are visiting San Diego do have to go as far as to enjoy authentic Mexican food and seafood. Case is point, I had a delicious bowl of red pork pozole, which is only available at this location, and a grilled mahi mahi taco and surf & turf taco. One thing you need to know about their taco is that they all now come on freshly made corn tortillas at this location. Yes, the tortillas are made in-house, and they are great. First, the mahi mahi taco. The fish was tender and flaky. It came with a nice seer and great seasoning. The fish came served over shredded cabbage, chipotle sauce, and topped with chopped mango and red onions on one of those house made corn tortillas. The surf and turf taco is a winner, too. It came with a generous amount of tender carne asada and a good amount of succulent shrimp. The tacos came nicely dressed with two sauces and on a great corn tortilla. It was good eating. I can't say enough for the red pork pozole. If you are a pozole fan, this one is a must try. The soup was rich and savory and came with plenty of tender chunks of pork meat. I loved that it came with a separate plate of shredded cabbage, chopped onions, sliced radishes, an avocado wedge, lime, a tostada, a chicken taquito, and pork rinds. It's quite traditional in the way they serve it, and it's fantastic. The young lady at the counter was very nice and helpful. The place has a good amount of inside and outside seating. Did I tell you their salsas are great?

Yelp
This is a great place for tacos in Barrio Logan. The price is good, and service is great. People are nice there. The ambience is a Chicano style. The are in the restaurant is great. From a skull thrown, to Day of the Dead paintings. The variety of tacos is impressive. I recommend the Birria taco. The mole taco was good, but somewhat spicy. It does not have the hint of chocolate as in traditional mole. The shrimp taco, also has some spice to it. The Al pastor taco also has great flavor. But you have to be careful with the Guac Sauce. The Guac Sauce is very hot. The one con, is that they do not have their alcohol license yet. So you will have to go across the street for drinks. Still, this a great place to fill your belly. Then head out to a Padre game.
google avatar

Fred C.

Yelp
The mole rojo was the best I've had in years. The pozole was also very good. Worth the drive. Parking is limited but available on the street.
google avatar

Ediz E.

Yelp
Very authentic cuisine.. you order the food at the order window and they bring it to you. Nice setup. Very friendly and accommodating service. We were positively surprised. I tried enchilada verde, my son tried enchilada mole and we had the green mole chicken. Everything very tasty. Yummy salsa. Quick service. Will be back! Loved it.
google avatar

Yelp
The food is incredible. The ambience is great. The service is awesome. I will miss this place when I move.
google avatar

Marina B.

Yelp
We got take out here and the tacos were great. We came here because my husband was craving fish tacos and this place was highly recommended by friends. Though he liked the fish tacos, it was the carne asada that really won him over.
google avatar

Shawn P.

Yelp
Delicious!! I stopped into Todo Pa la Crudo today after seeing they opened in the old Salud location in Barrio Logan. I was seeing rave reviews about the verde pozole so had to stop in. Complimentary chips and salsa, flavorful pozole with all the fixins and a couple adobada tacos to round out the hangover-killer meal. Staff were friendly and food came out super quick. Excited to come back to try their 3 x $9 taco Tuesday special! Give it a try!
google avatar

Roxsie R.

Yelp
Amazing service . Big portions and big flavors. Very popular spot so close parking is difficult but worth it.
google avatar

Yeli R.

Yelp
Ambiance was quick service style, you go up and order yourself. Ambiance was very dark walls/ not good lighting. The skull shrine was a tad intimidating. Service was good the waitresses were all accommodating. The person at the register for ordering could have been more personable, it was our first time there and we ordered a carne asada burrito which my husband said was one of the worst he's had due to the amount of fat on the meat. My daughter had fries and a side of rice- both good. My quesabirria meal was very tasty but you had to order the broth dip separately which I did but had to get up from my table and wait in line while my food was getting cold. There was no parking on site- only street parking.
google avatar

Adenomous F.

Yelp
Todo Pa'la Cruda is excellent in every way. From the rich, authentic flavors to the high-quality ingredients, every dish is made with care. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service is always friendly and attentive. I highly recommend dining in to fully experience the vibrant ambiance--it truly adds to the meal. Their pozole verde is my absolute favorite--perfectly seasoned, comforting, and full of flavor--but honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Whether you're curing a cruda or just craving amazing food, this spot is a must-visit!
google avatar

Gabriel V.

Yelp
The vibe is nothing to brag about and it's a bit pricey probably because of the location, but our food was really, really good. Perfect seasoning and textures.
google avatar

Lymari B.

Yelp
As much as we wanted to give this place an amazing review, unfortunately our experience wasn't the best. My husband and I were craving a simple breakfast burrito with added carne asada. Two burritos ended up costing us $39. I understand you pay a lil' more to substitute meat, but even the cashier admitted it was too expensive and tried to give us a discount. The burrito itself was so bland, tasteless, and the orders were wrong. :(

Iris M.

Yelp
I was in town for the wee and decided to come grab some menudo before heading back home in Riverside County. I was pleasantly surprised when I got home to see that the portion size of the menudo had changed to a smaller portion, there was not an option on size when ordering online, the menudo did not have hominy which was a little disappointing, I added my own when I got home. Lastly, the flavors I experienced 5 months ago was not there , it was still good but I ended up adding more spices to get more flavor out of it, not sure if the cook changed but I could see many differences. It was still overall good to me.
google avatar

Julio R.

Yelp
Amazing real Mexican food, staff are very friendly made us feel welcomed very hard to find now a dayswe will be back again next time we are here again
google avatar

Lemmor P.

Yelp
These are not your typical TJ street taco for sure. I would put these in the San Diego gourmet taco category, encroaching on some of the best. They have the SOCAL standards: Carne Asada, Carnitas, Adobada etc. Where they shine however is in their off the beaten path tacos such as the Camaron Empanizado (Fried Shrimp) , Surf n Turf. From their hand made tortillas, care in presentation and friendly service - this addition to Barrio Logan has the making of a rising star. I can't wait to try their house specials and Mulitas!!

Michael D.

Yelp
Five stars and a full belly! My wife and I spent a week eating our way through San Diego, one taco at a time--and this spot stole the show. The Taco De Birria? Absolute perfection. Juicy, cheesy, magic. Honestly, I'm still thinking about it. I went with the California burrito (because when in Cali...), and let's just say I left in a burrito-induced bliss, questioning every life decision that didn't involve carne asada and fries. If you're in town, do your taste buds a favor and make this your first stop. Or last. Or every meal in between. No judgment--we nearly did the same.
google avatar

Tyson C.

Yelp
This is the old Salid! Of course parking is rough, you are in the Barrio. Plenty of seats inside and out. Staff seem friendly. Chips and salsa come to your table after ordering. Salsa was decent. The California burrito was one of the lowest priced items on the menu, but was extremely tasty for the cost. They sauté the cheese to the inside of the tortilla. Very good!! The kids meal portions are also big and tasty. Big kids will have plenty of tasty food to eat. A self service water station would be a plus. I would definitely go back.
google avatar

Melissal L.

Yelp
Honestly.... Overhyped.... Mid... okay.... I thought it would be better based on the reviews... eh wouldn't go back I've had better. But also not bad just alright.

Lee C.

Yelp
This place is great! Really friendly service. If you dine in they give you a basket of chips with 4 different types of salsa (all very good and different). We got mole enchiladas, chilaquiles and the red posole with pork. Best mole enchils I can remember ever having and the chilaquiles are as good as anywhere I've been in San Diego. Posole is on another level plus the huge plate of add ins that they give you is not something I'm used to but was really good. Can't wait to go again but it's gonna be hard to try anything else but I'll find a way. Can't wait until they open the new one in PB!
google avatar

Guillermo G.

Yelp
Todo Pa' La Cruda took for over the previous restaurant ¡Salud! but it's nice to see that they kept the old mural to pay homage to the previous restaurant and the original graffiti artist. They have great customer service as the workers were all very welcoming and attentive. We ordered the enchiladas de la casa which was absolutely delicious and the shrimp tacos were bomb! 10/10 would recommend!
google avatar

Melanie G.

Yelp
Felt right at home! Authentic Mexican food. Def will be back. Love amazing Mexican food that reminds me of my moms cooking
google avatar

Noel M.

Yelp
If you're in National City and need the ultimate cure for a hangover (or just craving some next-level Mexican comfort food), Todo Pa' La Cruda is a must-visit! This place is hands down the go-to spot for delicious, flavorful, and soul-soothing food (get the menudo on weekends) that hits all the right spots. Whether you're in the mood for their legendary tacos de birria or the mouthwatering menudo, Todo Pa' La Cruda knows how to do it right. Every bite is a flavor explosion, and the broth for their menudo is beyond words!! Rich, hearty, and just tastes authentic. They're quick to deliver your food after your order and the staff is super nice. If you're ever in the area and hungry, check out Todo Pa' La Cruda.Trust me, once you try it, you'll keep coming back for more.

Yelp
The food here is delicious... the flavors are exquisite! The service was great, and the lady taking our order was super helpful. Great vibe, so many different ethnicities in the same room enjoying the amazing food they serve. We got the asada burrito, birria tacos with consome, kids taco plate (asada) and a quesabirria, the agua de Jamaica was so refreshing. Loved it - definitely coming back!!
google avatar

Donna P.

Yelp
I want to go back and try everything! Service was great, friendly and helpful staff, prices are reasonable and you certainly get a feel of authenticity with their ambiance.
google avatar

Katrina T.

Yelp
The ladies are very pleasant. I am HIGHLY impressed with the authenticity and flavor of their Pozole. Just like it was cooked and served at home. My mister had the ribeye and eggs, looked delicious from what I saw, he demolished it! He was also happy to see there was surprisingly bacon cooked with the potatoes, onions and bell pepper. We are foodies and Will DEFINITELY BE COMING BA K.
google avatar

M D.

Yelp
Really nice place , very clean. You order at the window and seat yourself. We had Menudo and Pozole for me. The pozole was 10/10!! Delicious Menudo was also Delicious, as my wife loved it. Service was awesome, the ladies were very kind and constantly cleaning or checking in on us. The owner was very sweet and also checking on her customers,. All in all 10/10
google avatar

Angie H.

Yelp
The food was amazing. This is my second time coming and the food is delicious. We got the Plato de bierra and rojo poloze. I will say this place gives amazing customer service always attentive to their customers. They are extremely nice and the service is above and beyond.
