20 Best Taiwanese Restaurants in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"This stinky tofu specialist serves its signature wares hot from the fryer and in a shallow pool of sweetish soy sauce. The accompanying kimchi balances the tofu’s more pungent notes. Also tasty is the “mushroom sliced pork rice,” a sweet and savory braise punched up with pickled mustard greens and a hard boiled egg." - Cathy Chaplin

Google
Yum! Affordable Taiwanese food in Rowland!!! $10.50 Cold Noodles is a must!! $13.99 for beef noodle soup, $8.99 Pork rice, $7.99 Boiled A Vegetable and other appetizers. Located down the walkway between the plaza's main buildings. No restroom. The Food District restroom was closed too when we visited. Takes credit card if order $25min. OG place with sticky tables, and such. I'm not a fan of the Arcadia location. This location is way better. Everything was okay and mostly decent. And for the prices offered, I'd call it pretty amazing. There's tons of other Taiwanese shops around too. Competition is tough out here. We haven't tried other Taiwanese food around. Also we haven't really been around this area in years. Orders out if the Popular section: $8.99 Mushroom Sliced Pork Rice with Egg. This wasn't for me. It's okay. Kinda like the arcadia location. Its okay if you're buying a cheap meal. $12.50 Pork Intestine Wrap Sausage. Not really what we expected. It's alot not sausage slices. Sausage has qq skin as expected but we probably wouldn't order this again. $10.50 Cold Noodles is a MUST!! It was tasty and refreshing. I like that the sauce isn't thick like other places me. It doesn't remind me of Taiwan! $8.99 Stinky Tofu had crispy skin and cabbage. If you add their chili oil with it, it's decent. I wouldn't eat this without the chili oil. Snack section $7.99 Boiled A Vegetable is simple. Great for ppl like me who enjoys A vegetable anytime. If you're particular about the qq/cooked precisely, this wonh be for you. But I'll order this again. $7.50 Marinated Seaweed is decent. They have a good amount. $13.99 Beef Stew Tendon Noodle (half meat and half tendon). Broth was super flavorful. To some delicate Taiwanese eaters, it could be just a tad just more salty than expected. Meat was tender and tendon was soft. We'd order this again. Overall, the cold noodles is a must. And the whole menu is priced well.

Google
Amazing Taiwanese street food restaurant! The flavor was authentic. Stinky tofu was really good with the cabbage. Wan quei was soft and smooth. The minced pork rice was really good, just like what you will taste in a local small restaurant in Taiwan. I will recommend this place to my friends and family who love Taiwanese food.

Google
This has been my go-to comfort food spot whenever I miss home. The 香菇滷肉飯 (mushroom braised pork rice), 雞排飯 (baked bonless chicken rice), and 米糕 (mi kao) are all tasty—portions are just right. If you’re a fan of stinky tofu, it’s a must-try here too. Definitely worth visiting!

Google
As a Taiwanese, I highly recommend their stinky tofu 臭豆腐 (all 3 kinds including 麻辣臭豆腐 & 一口香). Every time when traveling down to SoCal, we must visit the place to enjoy my hometown taste. Other than stinky tofu, their minced pork rice is so far the best I’ve ever had in US (didn’t order this time; so no picture)

Google
Good food, Local restaurant, and Authentic. I came across Tofu King because of Stinky Tofu! During my trip in LA, I'd talked to my GF and I mentioned that I wanted to have stinky tofu like Taiwan so bad then she said, there is one place in LA that served good stinky tofu (Chow-To-Fu). So here we go! While I parked the car, I can smelled something smelly but saliva drooling...It's stinky tofu smell! Stinky Tofu was very good, probably the best that I had so far in these couple years. It's not so smelly, but tasty and still juicy and grabbed Taiwanese sausage with sticky rice, and minced pork over rice back home. Overall, I'm so impressed with the level of flavor. As you may know Taiwanese cuisine was very simple, and neutral taste tendency so Tofu King was like that kind of. I'll definitely come back again next time when I visit LA. See you later!

Google
Small shop owned by a friendly Taiwanese owner. I always come here for the stinky tofu. I personally would like the beef noodle soup to be less sweet and the noodles to be less soft, but it still tastes good!

Google
Hole in the wall kind of place that doesn't disappoint! I was born in Taiwan and grew up all the Taiwanese Nightmarket delights. This was a great find and totally hit the spot!!! If you are in the area and you are into Taiwanese dish, you can't go wrong here.

Gordon Z.

Google
The Taiwanese stinky tofu with unique sauce is delicious, and the sour-flavored vegetables are also delicious. In addition, there are Taiwan-style braised pork rice and Taiwan-style meatball noodles, which are also delicious. During the epidemic, they all eat outdoors, and the store is not open. The overall sanitation environment is very ordinary, and the location is relatively remote.

Yelp
I finally returned here after a series of failed tries in other cities, but This is the most authentic one can find on Taiwanese Stinky Tofu. The stink was real, the garlic sauce was strong, and the marinated cabbage was fully dipped in the garlic soy sauce. Ha. I'm not complaining. Still my favorite spot: hmmm, maybe I didn't review this place before? Better than their Arcadia, CA., branch. Service: 10/10~order taker thinks I can speak fluent Mandarin when I phoned in. Super friendly both on phone and in person. Food: 10/10|hands down, extremely Taiwanese. Well, this is Rowland Hts, CA. Ambiance: 10/10. I didn't eat in assuming it's very Taiwanese inside too. I'll be back for another round. Ok, this satisfied my cravings from previously 2x failed tries in the San Gabriel, CA., area. Thank you for staying true to Taiwanese roots on our Taiwanese cultural foods' authenticity. XoXo Becky

Yelp
Been coming here for years now whenever I crave stinky tofu. Just a warning, the moment you open the door, the reek of stinky tofu hits you straight in the nose. It's a small restaurant with old school tables. Literally reminds you of Taiwan. The servers are nice but limited in English. I have a specific order that I place every time I come. I always order the Stinky Tofu, rice roll and sausage roll appetizer as snack and a bowl of Minced Pork Rice. This trip we added their spicy wonton. It was different because instead of just chili oil, they fill it with chili oil and sesame paste. We also ordered the cold noodle and veggies on the side.

Yelp
Nice to see there are still restaurants like Tofu King that proudly fly the Taiwanese "small eats" (snacks) flag as there have never been many options for Taiwanese food even in the SGV. It had been awhile since I ate here but had a hankering for Taiwanese food so I came here for lunch. The menu seems to be pretty consistent as before with the stinky tofu as the one dish that everyone seems to order. Of course, if you don't like stinky tofu but want to try the food here, you will need to endure the smell of stinky tofu so ordering the food to go may be your best option? They have some tables outside but you can still smell the tofu. Check out my pics including menu pics. If you haven't tried Taiwanese small eats before, Tofu King allows you to try many of the more popular items all in one place.

Yelp
06/14/24 I have not come here since they changed the chef when they first opened. Yesterday just wanted to try again of their stinky tofu after many years have gone by. Surprisingly they still got their touch on their stinky tofu. My boyfriend tried their spicy stinky and pork blood rice cake also some of my regular sticky tofu. He said they are pretty good and delicious.

Yelp

Yelp

Yelp
Really shocked that is place serves a decent stinky tofu! As well as a decent lu rou fan and the ever-elusive tung tzai mi gao which I haven't had since I was a pre-teen. Holy moly. Taste-wise, nothing blew me out of the water, but definitely hit the spot as comfort food. It's a very modest store, cramped seating, and you might have to wait. But if these are things you're craving, not a bad spot to hit up!

Yelp
Coming to Rowland Heights, I was excited to eat Taiwanese food. This spot did not disappoint. My family and I shared a bunch of dishes: stinky tofu, beef noodle soup, Taiwanese sausage, braised pork belly over rice and luroufan. My favorite thing I tried was the luroufan, very fatty and the sauce seeps well through the rice. I also liked the beef noodle soup, tastes very traditional and the tendon and beef were so good. However the broth was a tad on the sweeter end so I had to add some chili oil to my bowl. The braised pork over rice was fine but the pork belly was on the tougher side. But still good! And for the stinky tofu, it was good, but I think it could be better. This spot is very hole in the wall so I appreciated the more traditional feels. Good spot for Taiwanese food in the area!

Yelp
4 stars for the excellent dry noodle with ground pork, bean sprout and stewed egg. The stinky tofu seems to have lost its stink but still nice and crispy. Marinated combo platter tastes pretty bland, not worth $11.
google avatar

Yelp
We were in the mood for some traditional Taiwanese eats and the Tofu King hit the spot! Situated in an old plaza in Rowland Heights, the plaza still houses a good number of eateries serving traditional Taiwanese food. We enjoyed the dishes we ordered at Tofu King! The stinky tofu wasn't bad but needs some work; it was a bit dry and could benefit from stronger flavors. Everything else was spot on!

Yelp
As you walk up to the restaurant you get hit with the smell of stinky tofu which I appreciated. It made the whole experience very authentic to Taiwanese cuisine. The mushroom pork rice was very tender and flavorful! The only thing is the portions are pretty small. But the flavors were all there

Yelp
Review will compare to the Tofu King in Irvine. Context: I'm ABC parents from HK so I'm not used to Taiwanese food but my favorite porkchop rice is from the Irvine location Got something similar with the meat being different after realizing they don't have the exact same menu :( Overall, I think it's solid but not top tier. Stinky tofu is nice that they give you hotsauce and some pickled/spicy vegetable to eat with it for a nice contrast. Only would recommend if you want a casual/taiwanese experience that's in the B grade as opposed to top A tier.

Yelp
When you come for the king, you get the king Tofu King is a small hole in the wall, but in a plaza with all kinds of food, follow the smell of the stinky tofu to the little alleyway and you'll be led to some great comfort Taiwanese cuisine surrounded with small home kitchen feel Stinky tofu with the kimchi and sauce was a match made in Heaven, each bite was full of a deep flavor and I could've eaten three rounds of it The beef noodle soup was everything you would want, rich soup that still tastes so clean, tender chunks of beef shank, and fresh bok choy that bring it all together, even on a hot day I'll eat that any day of the week Service was nice, food came out fast, and you definitely need to check it out!

Yelp
I love love love tofu king! Such an og spot and i believe they accept credit card now but im always cash prepared. Place is small and personal and clean! Customer service is always great. The quality of food and flavor hasn't changed over the many years so I'll always recommend this spot!

Yelp
*** Cash Only *** I am a fan of stinky tofu in general and the "stinky" aroma always triggers a sense of deliciousness. After seeing how long the stinky tofu line was at the Lunar New Year Festival in Monterey Park, I decided to stop by Tofu King the next day and ordered a take-out (not entirely intentional since I was in the area for other reasons anyway). [Parking]: Not an issue as the plaza is pretty dead. [Ordering/menu]: This is one of few places in the SGV (San Gabriel Valley) area that specializes in stinky tofu. There are other authentic Taiwanese dishes listed on the menu that you won't find in other commonly seen Northern style Chinese noodle restaurants. There's an outdoor patio and dine-in option is also available with limited tables. *** Stinky tofu ($7.99): I got this as a take-out order and it was ready in approximately 10 minutes. Unfortunately tofu was not tender and texture was firm. In addition tofu wasn't marinated enough with garlic soy sauce. Lastly Taiwanese fermented pickled cabbage tasted slightly too salty for me. *** I wouldn't discourage anyone from trying stinky tofu from this place as there aren't too many options out there, but there are certainly better Taiwanese pickled cabbage (1/3 of key components of stinky tofu) because I just had some pretty good Taiwanese pickled cabbage from Sinbala in Arcadia just a week ago.

Yelp
We LOVE tofu king! It's been our go-to place for a long time! We were here today and tried something new this time! The pork feet! Amazing! It's perfectly cooked with well balanced flavor. Stinky tofu was good as always! The mushroom pork rice was do flavorful. It came in a big bowl of rice and topped with braised pork. Great service throughout. The host/server was very friendly and sweet. The restaurant is alway clean whenever we come. Prefect spot for a quick lunch or grab & go. Highly definitely recommend it!

Yelp
This place is called tofu king for a reason. They have the best stinky tofu in the SGV/LA area. They have another location in Arcadia but I always come to this one whenever I crave stinky tofu. Its the OG store. There's not a lot of indoor seats available so most people come here for takeout. I usually get the stinky tofu bites which is $7.99 plus tax. It comes with bite size pieces of fried stinky tofu, pickled cabbage and their signature sauce. The tofu is crispy on the outside with the nice rich texture on the inside. If you can tolerate the smell of it, its honestly one of the best Taiwanese snacks out there. Service was quick when I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon. Parking is easy as it's located in a big plaza with the HK supermarket.

Yelp
Really good authentic Taiwanese food. I have a weakness for stinky Tofu. Tofu King did not disappoint. Tofu King makes delicious versions of other Taiwanese classics. Service was fast, friendly and efficient.
google avatar

Evangeline C.

Yelp
Came a long way today to Rowland, and stopped by my favorite Taiwanese spot. I ordered the Taiwanese sausage rice and it's just as good as I remembered it. I will have to bring more cash to order the stinky tofu again on my next visit. Plenty of outdoor seating with chairs set up outside now. Fast service after my call in order. Plenty of parking in the lot.
google avatar

Yelp
Omg...you want that authentic hole in the wall amazing, Taiwanese cuisine hidden at the back of the other restaurants? This is the place to go! We ordered the Pork intestines wrap sausage, Tung Tzai Mi Gao, marinated combination seedweed, hard tofu, roasted egg, wua quei, and their famous stinky tofu! My siblings and I absolutely enjoyed it and our kids as well! I definitely want to come back next time and try other Taiwanese dishes!

Y C.

Yelp
My husband loves their stinky tofu and every time I came here they always so helpful and nice.

Yelp
Authentic stinky tofu - must have when I visit Southern California. Love this place: great food and kind service

Yelp
I was so surprised to like this place and especially their food...I've had stinky tofu before and I love tofu so much that my first experience with stinky tofu was so disappointing I did not want to try it again...but, this time it is so good I would recommend this place to everyone who wants to be more adventurous and have Intestine wrap, stinky tofu and Dan Dan dry noodle here..come with open mind and empty stomach!

Yelp
We know Tofu King in Rowland Heights has been around for a long time and they are famous for their stinky tofu, but somehow we just didn't make it there until recently. We got the stinky tofu, baked boneless chicken thigh rice, and mushroom sliced pork rice with egg. Be warned, their stinky tofu smelled and tasted just like how we had in Taiwan, so that means it is an acquired taste and not for everyone. Miss Fatty totally hated it but I was in love with that smelly stuff. The chicken in the rice dish was surprisingly good, but the veggies that came with was super meh. We didn't cared for the pork rice either. It wasn't bad but not something we would make a trip out of. Overall, if the mood strikes, I would have to go back by myself just for the tofu...
google avatar

Frank K.

Yelp
Authentic Taiwan Deli. Great selection of the small bite food selection. The price is reasonable and the service is alright. I often come here for their to-go; I love their Stinky tofu and a variety of Taiwan style rice and noodles.

Tammy P.

Yelp
Food was great! We got the stinky tofu, minced pork rice, and baked chicken. Kinda wished the tofu was a bit stinker but overall was awesome. Stinky tofu (8/10) Minced pork rice (10/10) Baked chicken (10/10) Service was fast. We arrived when it was slow so everything was quick. Will come again!

Yelp
my fam used 2 frequent this place 4 their stinkin fried tofu (im not a fan of it) but they stopped goin over da years due 2 da flavors not bein consistent + poor service we were inda plaza & roomies sister wanted 2 order their lu-ro fan (braised pork over rice) ~ as we walked in, i accidentally kicked da leg of a high chair that was inda way of entry, da chair tipped over & i hurt my ankle; surprisingly da chick who worked there didnt even care 2 ask f i were ok nor did she move that chair outta da way da portion was super tiny (like 1/2 da size of a reg rice box); da flavor of lu-ro fan was decent but short of amazing this was my 1st try here ~ im willin 2 give it a 2nd try, tho not like im super excited
google avatar

Kuo C.

Yelp
I finally got a chance to try it, even only for take out. My experience: the Pork Thick Soup has only a few pieces of pork, and small, it's indeed named a "soup"; the Stinky Tofu has good flavor, but the to-go box did not bother to separate tofu from the pickled cabbage so some pieces were soaked with juice and messed up the flavor.
google avatar

Aylton Y.

Yelp
Great service and the stinky tofu was on point. Came here around 5:30pm on a Thursday and it was practically empty. If you're not used to Stinky tofu, the restaurant might smell too pungent for those not used to it.
google avatar

Jenny L.

Yelp
Been coming here for years and still my favorite spot for fried stinky tofu! -Price has gone up but they accept Venmo and Zelle transfers! -I also really like their " Lu Rou Fan "! So good!! They put a lot of sauce so the rice isn't dry. The stinky tofu comes with spicy cabbage that pairs really well together.
google avatar

Monica C.

Yelp
One of my favorite stinky tofu places in LA! This place has become one of my to-go-to stops when I'm in San Gabriel (known as the Asian area). I always get the bite sized stinky tofu. It's fresh and fried, not super stinky like some of the stinky tofu shops in Hong Kong or Taiwan. The soy sauce with radish on the side adds an amazing taste to the crispy, fresh stinky tofu. I also tried the Szechuan style stinky tofu. It's good and has a nice, spice kick. Personally, I still prefer the bite sized fried stinky tofu from here.
google avatar

Donna C.

Yelp
It's been a while since the last time I came to this place. And to be honest I was a little disappointed. The taste of the Stinky tofu was ok, but the tofu was a little stale. The Spicy stinky tofu was more spicy than it was stinky. And the serving of Beef stew noodles was just really small. Maybe it's because of inflation and the cost of everything is higher , but I just didn't think I got my money's worth. Maybe I will come back again for the stinky tofu as a snack, but prob not going eat dinner here because for the same price I could have eaten a nice sit down dinner elsewhere.
google avatar

Thomas B.

Yelp
It was good , I went in thinking it was gonna be hard for me to order but they were really nice and took my order as soon as I came in and I was outta there in less than ten minutes. I just ordered some minced pork and rice w/egg and it was good it was exactly what I wanted and it was a pretty good price less than 10 dollars.

Yelp
First of all, let me report this: the price for a plate of Stinky Tofu and a bowl of Sliced Pork Rice is already $18.50 from $15.33 from July, 2018. My daughter and I went to Tofu King, Irvine but we can't dine in because of the COVID. Then three days later, we decided to have one at the Rowland Heights branch. We still can't dine in, but fortunately, there are outdoor seats. I visited Rowland Heights one and Arcadia one several times before, both are good. The Stinky Tofu I got this time is the best. 4 deep-fried Stinky Tofu have been cut into 16 pics, they are so crunchy and crispy, the tofu has so many little holes can absorb enough sauce. The pickled cabbage is so sour gives me a striking feeling which I love. The Rowland Heights one is located inside a plaza, which is so Chinese. Full of Chinese restaurants and every speak so loudly and even a woman uses handsfree WeChat to tell her friend on another side: I am going to eat my Stinky Tofu now! The Sliced Pork Rice is also good, which is not made from ground pork but sliced tiny pork pieces. It's a very authentic Taiwanese way.

Yelp
Food is authentic. Not for everyone. Very strong smell but good. A little small shop in the wall but you can smell it half a block away. Stinky Tofu

Yelp
I came here to satisfy my craving of some authentic Taiwanese style Stinky Tofu. The food is delicious, and comforting. I wish there's a place like this near my area, and would gladly patronize it every other day. The portions are just right, and the main thing to get here is the Stinky tofu. During this Covid-19 time, you can only order to-go, and there's a few outside seating areas to eat if you choose. The Stinky tofu here, when taken to-go is in a plastic container, and the sauce/juice is on the bottom. You can have it cut in bite size pieces, or leave it as a big square of tofu. The sauce covers all the flavors and accentuate the tofu. (I wish it was even more stinky like how I would get in Taiwan), but it is pretty good as it is. Slight heat, and that flavor... oh man, you have to try it to understand it. Also, the way it is served is slightly different than other places where the sauce is on the side as a dipping sauce. But in the end, it all tastes great.

Yelp
Tofu King is by far my favorite Taiwanese spot to go to when I'm craving for Taiwanese food. There are a few Taiwanese restaurants around SGV, however, they don't meet my expectations when it comes to consistency and authenticity. We came here about a week or two ago on a Thursday afternoon. My boyfriend wanted to try their Mushroom Ground Pork Rice w/Egg, but the lady taking our order told him the Mushroom Sliced Pork Rice w/Egg is much better. I totally agreed with her. Although the sliced pork was more fattier, it was much more flavorful and not as dry compared to the ground pork (we've tried their ground pork rice before so I was able to compare). FYI: My boyfriend hates eating fatty parts of the meat but he loved their Mushroom Sliced Pork Rice. We always have to order their Stinky Tofu no matter what! It comes with a good amount of Taiwanese pickled cabbage which I love. Also, their Pork Intestine Wrap Sausage is on point! I wish they can just put it like a wrap instead of cutting it though. As for the green tea, it was super refreshing and not too sweet. Can't wait to come back again!! :)

Yelp
Truly, the king of stinky tofu! Like many asian-americans who grew up in the states, I miss food from home. I'm talking about the authentic kind of food, like stinky tofu! There are good places to get stinky tofu - but I would drive 30 miles from where I live, just to go here. And since its stinky tofu, you'll smell it right away. The stinky tofu is paired with pickled veggies, which brings a nice acidity to the dish as a whole. The tofu is made perfectly - crunchy on the outside and so flavorful and juicy inside! I can't quite describe the sauce but trust me, its perfect :) If you think its stinky, just try it! The stink means flavor! This place is known for their stinky tofu but it also has other favorites of mine like Dan Dan noodle and rice. Definitely try out the other menu items!

Hank C.

Yelp
Definitely the best stinky tofu in LA. Very friendly service as well.
google avatar

Myrna T.

Yelp
Stinky tofu is the best! Cannot decide between the bite size or regular size tofu so we ordered both. Pork stew rice is very flavorful and beef noodle soup has authentic Taiwanese flavor. This hole in a wall place is a to-go for Taiwanese dishes.

Yelp
Been missing my hometown so I had to go pick up some taiwanese food. I was specifically craving for stinky tofu so I went for this spot! -Stinky Tofu: the tofu is fermented and then deep fried, it has a very distinctive smell, to me it smells so good but to some it may be stinky! it comes with some taiwanese kimchi and chili sambal on the side that go sooo well with the tofu! - Pork Thick Soup: this is something my grandma used to make, pork meat balls with bamboo shoots and shiitake mushrooms in a broth thicken with corn starch and served with rice vermicelli - Mushroom Sliced Pork Rice: the pork belly and shiitake mushrooms were sliced into small pieces and braised in a flavorful sauce and served on a bed of rice with some sour cabbage and a marinated egg, so so comforting and good -Rou Yuan: or ba wan! It's a traditional Taiwanese street food that's made with sweet potato starch into a translucent dough and stuffed with pork meat ball and served with this sweet and savory sauce. The dough was super QQ! - Mixed Marinated Plate: the mixed plate consisted of seaweed, egg, and bean curds. They were all drenched in thick soy sauce and very flavorful! This place definitely scratched my itch for taiwanese street food, honestly wished the tofu was stinkier! but overall a great spot!

Yelp
Tofu King is tucked away in the the courtyard area in the HK market plaza. I wasn't here for the stinky tofu this time. I came here for the beef noodle soup and the mushroom pork rice because Yelpers said they were tasty. The lady who took my to-go order was very welcoming and understanding when I inquired about any peanut ingredients in the dishes I ordered. Peanut allergy is no joke. The beef noodle was good and well portioned. The mushroom pork rice was quite small and tasted ok. I plan to try every restaurant in this plaza- 2 more to go. Haha. Glad to support this local business, I'll be back for the tofu next time.

Yelp
Great Chinese food. The place is tiny and hard to find but worth it. It smells of stinky tofu but that's the point of coming here in the first place.

Yelp
My friend was visiting from out of town, so I thought I'd take her on a mini food crawl of Taiwanese food What I ate: - Stinky tofu: I can see why they are king. The stinky tofu was probably one of best I've had in a while. The tofu came out in larger pieces, leading to a fluffier center texture. - Boiled veggies: My friend and I wanted some greens, and this fit the bill Pros: - That oh so good stinky tofu! - Small but typical Taiwanese menu - Lots of takeout orders - Staff was friendly Cons: - Definitely a mom and pop décor/feel. No frills, but none really needed - Really hard to find. I believe when we visited, the signage was not in English. It's also tucked away in the corner, not visible from the parking lot. - If you're not used to the smell of stinky tofu, it can be very pungent upon opening the door, but you'll get used to it, I promise! LOL - Small, this is probably ideal for coming with one friend to have a meal or snack, but not with your family of 9 Would I come again? If I was craving stinky tofu!

Yelp
Probably the most authentic Taiwanese place you can find in SoCal and not gonna lie I crave this place at least once a month. I'm willing to drive 45mins each time from LA to this place just to have their stinky tofu & a bowl of meatball vermicelli! All their meatballs are handmade and they have other handmade products they sell separately from the menu that you can buy and cook them at home yourself. Their Mala Spicy stinky tofu is pretty great too but it's very spicy!

Yelp
Another perfect lunch spot! Fast service and affordable price. Extremely in love with their Mushroom sliced pork rice, Marinated combination and Fuzhou style big fish ball. The mushroom sliced pork rice was perfectly balanced with sauerkraut and the sauce. Flavorful and not salty at all. Fish ball soup will warm you up after finishing the rice. And marinated combination is a perfect size for two people to share as appetizers. Yummy!

Yelp
The food is still as good as it was the last I visited pre-COVID. The ordering is done at the door to comply with COVID standards. The portion of food is still good even though it is to-go now. The Taiwan sausage rice w/ egg was delicious, the food was steaming hot and fresh. They were generous with the portions. Stinky tofu - served hot with pickled cabbage as usual. I can't get enough of the stinky tofu here. It's made perfectly and the pickled cabbage is the right item to complement the tofu. It's not stinky at all and actually smells good once cooked. I didn't notice any smelliness when waiting for my food. This is definitely my go to spot when I'm looking for some comfort food.

Yelp
Compared to the sister restaurant at Arcadia, this place has better fried stinky tofu but their other offerings aren't as good. For instance, the lou rou fan (mushroom ground pork rice with egg) is decent here, but it is definitely better at the Arcadia location. Similarly, the Tung Zai Mi Gao (Dang A' Bee Guh in Taiwanese, glutinous rice dish served with a great sweet/savory sauce) is a shadow of itself at this location, compared to the exemplary version at the Arcadia location. And this brings up one of the gripes that I have about Chinese/Taiwanese restaurants. There does not seem to be a consistency across different stores, let alone within itself. Contrast this to a standard Japanese restaurant, if you go back to the same Japanese restaurant, things will be guaranteed to taste the same. Alas, but I digress. All in all, come here for fried stinky tofu.

Yelp
Love this place. Tiny unassuming little hole in the wall with authentic Taiwanese street food. Some of them can be acquired tastes for the uninitiated but if you're looking for authenticity in your food adventures this is a great choice. Their signature dish here is the stinky tofu, a platter of deep fried fermented tofu served with pickled cabbage and spicy sauce on the side. The one here isn't quite as stinky as what I've had in Taiwan but I guess subject to US cultural norms this is probably the max level of stink they can manage. The other dish I always order is "pork intestine wrap sausage". I honestly haven't figured out what this is exactly, something like Taiwanese sausage and stuffed pork intestine stuffed with sticky rice. (Sounds a lot scarier than it tastes). Friendly service. Cash only.

Yelp
Cash only. No receipt. Price is lower than most Taiwanese restaurants but the portions are also small. Food is not as good as in Taiwan but it is authentic Taiwanese food. If you are craving for some Taiwanese street food, this is a good place to check out. Items I've tried: 1. Stinky tofu (#1) is the best one. I've tried all three versions. The kimchi cabbage is not bad. The taste is right but not as crunchy and fresh as I would've liked. The #2 is a little too oily and #3 is for those who like mala flavor. Still, I love eating stinky tofu so I will be back! 2. Zhang Hua Rou Yuan 彰化肉圓 was good. 3. Wua Quei 碗粿 taste right but was very small. 4. Marinated Combination 滷味拼盤 was good but a little on the salty side. 5. Rice Sausage around Taiwanese Sausage 大腸包小腸 is good but was very small. 6. Mushroom Sliced Pork Rice 香菇滷肉飯 was very delicious. 7. Cold Noodle 涼麵 was delicious. 8. Taiwan Chie A Dry Noodle 台灣切仔麵 is good. 9. Shin Ju Style Meat Ball Soup 新竹貢丸湯 is good. Only 3 meat balls. 10. Beef Stew Tendon Noodle 紅燒牛肉筋麵 was very delicious. One recommendation is don't eat it right away. Let it cool and refrigerate it. Next day, remove all of the lard from the soup bowl. Then, mix the noodle and soup together and boil them. It tasted just as good. I do this for health reasons for all soup dishes that have meat in them.
