The 18 Best Dog-Friendly Restaurants In London

"You might think that taking your dog to a vegan Chinese restaurant will make you their least favourite parent. But at Tofu Vegan, you can get some delicious housemade silken tofu in Sichuan sauce, mock meats like Chongqing chicken, dim sum, and more plant-based dishes that may surprise you—and your dog-child—with how impressive they are. It’s a big-ish space, with tables spilling out onto the pavement, and it’s an excellent option when you’re around the Angel end of Upper Street." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna

The 10 Best Dim Sum Restaurants In London

"All day The mega popular vegan Chinese spot has a few locations (including Spitalfields and Golders Green) but it’s their original location in Angel where we find ourselves enjoying tofu and mushroom xialongbao most often. While their soup dumplings are good, if a little thick, it's Tofu Vegan’s wontons in house special sauce that are the must-order dim sum item. Thin wrappers packed with a mix of tofu, mushrooms, and water chestnuts form the wonton while the sauce—a neon red chilli concoction—is fizzing, moreish, and completely gluggable." - jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak

Super yummy, tasty, flavoursome, colourful, and varied - all words I’d use to describe this gem of a place. Whichever one you go to you’ll be happy with your choice - all super friendly staff and the same great menu. Quirky dishes too and all Vegan!

First time visiting Tofu Vegan in Spitalfields and I was really impressed. The standouts of the meal were the Peking “d’ck”, the deep-fried “chick’n” with salt & Sichuan pepper, and the stir-fried water spinach with chilli & Sichuan pepper, all packed with flavour and absolutely delicious. We also tried the soupy xiao long bao (tofu & mushroom) and the mixed mushroom & tofu soup, which were both comforting and well-made. Great value at around £25 per person, dog-friendly, and plant-based food so good you honestly wouldn’t know it’s not meat. Highly recommend!

Really good place to come for delicious vegan food. The portions are a good size and great for sharing. We had the sizzling black bean tofu, special noodles, wontons and chick’n&sweetcorn soup. So tasty! Good location to shops and underground station. Highly recommend ☺️

Google
The food was all so delicious, felt very authentic and even my meat-eating friend said it was the best Chinese food she'd had all year! The salt and pepper tofu was the best! and the Lotus Roots were lovely Definitely recommend booking. We tried walking in but it was fully booked so we got turned away initially and had to come back near closing time to get a table.

Google
truly the best chinese food ive had in a while, and this is coming from a non-vegan chinese person. really great flavors in every single dish, but the salt and pepper tofu and wontons in house special sauce are not to be skipped

As always, extremely delicious. Service is very friendly and food doesn’t take long to arrive. Pictured: the Kimchi Chick’n and Tofu Stew, the Gong Boa Tofu with Peanuts and the Wontons in a House Special Sauce

We didn't make a reservation here and still managed to get a table. It's very noisy here when there's a few groups, this I know is to be expected. I thought the food portions were small. We ordered the same main yet only one came out, we had to wait for the other and ideally we wanted to eat at the same time. The dish was beautiful and the sauce was good but I would have liked more than red onions with the sauce and eight pieces of tofu. Perhaps some mushrooms? My Son has the Wontos for starter and while they were nice, the portion size was small. The service, apart from our wait for the main was good. Our water was replenished rapidly.

Now I’m a meat lover and couldn’t go without meat in a meal - especially Asian food - but hearing about how good Tofu Vegan is, I was willing to open my eyes to some veggie/vegan Chinese food. We ordered the cloud ear fungus, lotus root, fried aubergine, dim sum and spicy chicken. All of the dishes were flavourful and well seasoned. Our favourite was the fried aubergine with the crunchy rice seasoning. The vegan chicken could have been slightly more spicy but we found it to be heavy in oil, which is the only downside. Bowls of rice you order are refillable which is good. Very lovely and friendly service. Would come back again.

Yelp
Once you have vegan friends, you start visiting places you would never have considered visiting at all. In this specific case it was a pleasant surprise. The food was extremely good, I mean if all vegan food is that good, who does need meat anyway? You can't tell the difference. We instantly got a seat, only downside was, that one of the waiters wasn't too familiar with either the dishes or the English language because she wasn't able to tell what specifically was in the dishes (I mean, would be good to know in case of allergies)... at least she could have asked the chef but somehow she just got a little "angry" and lost er patience. But it's not been too bad, so everything was still okay. The noise inside the restaurant is a little disturbing you can't talk to each other without yelling or screaming. Overall it was a great experience never the less.

Yelp
Great staff. Great food. I'm so happy I gave this place a chance. We took the server suggestions to hard and ordered everything that he suggested. This restaurant is a family style. Food is suggested to share. We shared the following dishes: Deep Fried tofu with salt and pepper Gong bao o'ster mushrooms with cashew nuts Wontons Twice cooked fisc Fries noodles. There was three of us in the party and we thought this was enough food. Everything had good flavor. Our favorite was the Gong bao o'ster mushrooms with cashew nuts. Our least favorite was the Twice cooked fisc. It was busy on a Monday night, but we didn't have to wait long to be seated.

Yelp
The concept of vegan dim sum blew my mind. Everything was well made and the skins are just as authentic as regular dim sum. The fillings are mostly tofu & lotus, which tastes a bit more plain but I think they did the best. The fried aubergine/eggplant was stunning -- incredibly tender, the crispy spicy breadcrumbs and dressing sauce was amazing!! Didn't get to try their fake meat dishes to draw direct comparisons but everything was great already.
