"The husband and wife in chef’s whites welcome you to their Japanese restaurant. They learned their skills at a chakaiseki (tea ceremony cuisine) establishment. While he works his culinary magic, the proprietress makes confectioneries and serves guests. Decoratively arranged sashimi of white-fleshed fish is served with a mix of rich and light soy sauce; hassun appetisers are laden with rich varieties of seafood. The spirit of the house shines in dishes that are uncluttered, meticulously crafted and honest." - Michelin Inspector

We had an excellent experience at Kaiseki Ohara. As we were walking down the street to find them, a woman approached us, saying she was from Kaiseki Ohara, and showed our name in a book. She knew that Google maps had a wrong location (it is wrong) and waited for us to accommodate us! The fantastic service started from there, and we really enjoyed all the food they prepared for us. It seemed that the amount of food was little, but after 10 courses, we were completely full. There were some unexpected choices: Who would think that a fish bone, prepared in a unique way, would taste so delicious? And, yet it was yummy. The space is very small, like a private house, and they can only accommodate about 10 people. During our dinner, there was a group of 4 people at the other tablea, and the atmosphere was very nice. I can recommend Kaiseki Ohara to all who are interested in trying this unique experience. They are very accommodating to allergies and food preferences. Thank you very much, we had a great time!

W.O.W.! We were blown away. This is definitely one of THE spots in Tokyo! A fantastic blend of kitchen art and ambience in traditional atmosphere made the evening unforgettable. Reservation required and a bit hard to find (even for our cab driver). But once you‘re there : just great!

Absolutely incredible meal tonight at this beautiful little establishment. Mr & Mrs Ohara are wonderful people and this shines through in the food which is thoughtful, balanced and cohesive from one dish to the next. One of the best meals of our lives - just wow!

A meal I will remember forever. What an experience. The food was delicious. The flavors were so complex. At times the dishes seemex simple but at the same time had so much depth of flavor. It’s one of those meals where you get the sense of what the chef is trying to express through technique, flavors, and ingredients. The lady running the dining room speaks English for those that aren’t Japanese speakers. She kindly met us on the road because the restaurant is a bit hard to find if you don’t know where it is. She was very warm throughout. If you can, come here for a meal you’ll never forget.
