The place looked rundown from the outside. The parking wasn't too good, but I was immediately taken in by the inside. It was very decorated, to say the least. I took pictures of everything. The waiter was nice to us and the QR code menu was a nice touch. Plus, the chopsticks were so high quality that there were no splinters.
For a Japanese place, there were a lot of spicy things--something that isn't too common in Japan. The avo bake was nice, though the bao bun was better. My favorite was the roll of the day. It had salmon, shrimp tempura, cucumber and avocado, with pineapple chili sauce. I usually don't like raw salmon, but it was cut thinly and barely had any aftertaste at all. It didn't have that slimy texture that some fish do.
I got the beef bowl with extra beef. I was kind of disappointed... it had a lot of sauce. The texture was off, as if the chef left it on one side for too long. It was tough in places where it shouldn't have been. I liked the type of rice they used, but I wouldn't get the beef bowl again. Unfortunate, because the entire reason I came here was specifically for a bowl of beef.
Otherwise, it was pretty nice. The roll was the best thing there, and if I went there again I would've gotten two or three. I'd recommend adding this to your main menu! The flavor profile is very unique
