4 Restaurants to Try This Weekend in Los Angeles - Eater LA

"Though Los Angeles has a healthy selection of karaage/Japanese fried chicken establishments throughout the region, it’s always an ideal plan to try one more. Pasadena’s Tokyo Chick opened in late 2022 right next door to Lunasia where they serve boneless tenders and free-range, bone-in chicken wings or drumsticks. Figure out which sauce is the most appealing, whether teriyaki, wasabi, or garlic-soy, and for those who live on the edge, something called “Tokyo spicy.” Bento boxes are also available. The move is to order a combo with fries and soda, sit down immediately, and take a bite while piping hot." - Eater Staff

A great fried chicken spot in Pasadena with a fantastic variety of options as well as good service. We came late on a weekend and it was very busy - we were lucky to get a seat. There’s very limited seating, and to find parking close is kind of tough - we parked at town hall and walked over. The different flavors make it a unique experience and you can even get most of the flavors as sauces on the side as well. If you sign up for rewards you can get a free dessert too. We also got a cute tote bag, and we were told if we brought it back, we could get a free Spam Musubi (though I’m not sure how long this deal will last). Overall a delicious Asian fried chicken spot that if I was a resident, would be a common go to spot for me.

This place has amazing marketing. The Tokyo Chick mascot can be seen roaming around old Pasadena and is super cute and funny. Probably the largest chicken sandwich I’ve ever had, whichever chicken they used it was jacked up with next level steroids.

If you can’t find street parking, there’s a lot nearby that costs $11 to park. We were promptly greeted when we walked in. The cashier was patient and answered all our questions. It took a bit for the food to come out. We overheard a worker apologize to another customer for the long wait. We ordered the drumstick bento box and a spicy chicken sandwich combo. They give a good amount of chicken and it’s crispy but it had a very oily taste. The veggies in the bento box had a weird taste, almost as if some other sauce got mixed into it cause the veggies on top tasted different from the veggies on the bottom. Also, the spicy chicken sandwich was not spicy and tasted like they forgot to season it or make it spicy. The bread they used for the sandwich fell apart really easily. My husband said it needed sauce to make up for the missing flavor. They have a self serve sauce bar which was nice but we weren’t wowed by any of the sauces. Check in for a free night light or an iced milk dessert with jelly.

We came here to eat while attending a TKD match at Pasadena convention center, their chicken sandwich is HUGE! Way bigger than the bun, their fries were tasty, the server was friendly and professional, Their dining area was kept clean though they only have 3 tables, they have a big enough area for more table. If you check in on yelp while there, you can get a free chick nightlight.

The BEST! 😋 The tastiest fried chicken and the most wonderful service and attention to detail. The chicken sandwich is massive and so deliciously seasoned and perfectly crisp. The homemade sauces like the wasabi mayo and Tokyo spicy were so delicious! The wedge fries were also delicious! My new favorite chicken spot. Not only are the flavors amazing but the staff is wonderful and so very kind. The presentation of the food is so cute. You can tell the love and care they put into the food! My new fave spot! Plus I love their chicken mascot he’s so adorable! Also if you can’t find street parking there’s a lot across the street that’s 90 minutes free with validation (just run into H&M).

Google
Their food didn’t feel the same. We used to come here occasionally for their crispy, juicy fried chicken and appreciated their quality. It didn’t feel the same last night. The place wasn’t as clean as it had been (including the restroom) and chicken was too oily. Aftertaste was just oil. I noticed they pre-fried their chickens. There were baskets full of fried chicken by the deep fryer and they were re-frying some of them for our order. I wonder if that’s why our chicken tastes too greasy. Not sure what happened here. Quality control seems to have slipped.

Google
Convenient location! Many people pass by cause their mascot outside is eye catching and funny looking :0) Walked here so I can’t comment on parking. Pricing is average (but the wings are a big size, so it is quality). But they do have some money saving techniques like giving out styrofoam plates instead of paper. They have many sauces to choose from and our favorite were Tokyo Spicy (wasn’t that spicy so I could handle it), Garlic Soy, this other sweet one that I forgot the name, and ranch. Their pickled radish was good too. We also tried their home made strawberry lemonade (a drink came with their food) and it was really good! We ordered the signature crispy in 12 wings. They were cooked really well and it was crispy! It def was hot and fresh. The fries were ok, a little over cooked. But a good addition to dip in the sauces or eat while waiting for the chicken to cool off. We dined there and I have to say, they barely have enough seating (only 3 tables and small bar seating style). Also, be prepared for your clothes to smell like smoke after! Like all the other reviews, I agree the employees are nice. The placement of the lighting and fans is awful. It creates lighting where it feels like you are constantly blinking and could get a seizure because the fan constantly moves in a way where it blocks the light for a second. It was very unpleasant. The bathroom is clean and only one bathroom for all genders.

Google
Chicken was crispy!! I love it! It also comes with fries at the bottom. The sauce was good too! I like the orange colored one, I can’t remember the name. They have different sauces you can try out by the soda machine. The owner is very nice! I ordered pick up and they have cool to-go bags. They are also reusable too. I would recommend this place!

Yelp
Fast/Good Service. Their Fried is the "bomb". Super love it. First time eating here. I will definitely come back again.

Yelp
Wonderful food and loved that it was super close to the Monsterpalooza!! The little chick's are super cute

Yelp
Great service. The man working there was very nice and gave us a Tochi. The food was good and I had leftovers. Overall, good service and food.

Yelp
It was my first time here, and the Signature Chicken Sandwich was delicious and it was prepared to order with a minimum wait time. I liked the wasabi mayo sauce the most. The staff are super-friendly and polite, and the ambiance is great! I will be back soon! Thanks!

Yelp
Clean and cute space. We came for an early weeknight dinner on the recommendation of a friend. I ordered the boneless chicken bento in the classic Tokyo style and my son had the chicken sandwich. I almost got the combo for him and I'm glad I didn't as the sandwich was HUGE and there's no way he could have eaten it and a side of fries! It was definitely a good size for the price. We could have probably split it and been fine. The bento was a big portion of chicken as well. It came with a half a ramen egg, one gyoza a generous portion of rice and a small salad. The diakon pickles were fine and a nice contrast to all the fried food but they definitely have that diakon flavor so if you're not a fan you can probably ask to substitute it. They have serve yourself dipping sauces which were fine. I only tried a few but the spicy mayo was pretty tasty. The chicken is dark meat which I prefer and high quality. It's counter service only but the gentleman that waited on us was patient and helpful. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality and the portion sizes. Not a 10/10 but definitely a 9.5 and worth checking out. I want to go back and try the Masubi's and curry.

Yelp
We ate a late lunch at Tokyo Chick during the weekend. I ordered the fried boneless chicken bento ($18.73 after tax). You order at a kiosk, and the cashier provides you your meal on a tray at the front. You can check in on Yelp for a free nightlight or dessert. My food came to me quickly (about 5-10 minutes). The bento gives you vegetables, pickled vegetables, an egg, one piece of gyoza, and rice. They spread the sauce on the chicken, but I wish they cooked the chicken with the sauce to give it more flavor. The chicken still tasted very delicious with its tenderness on the inside and savory breading. The bento portion is large, but one little thing I noticed was that although they add pickled vegetables, you can still serve yourself the same thing. You can also get your own sauce to try out different flavors. The ambience is definitely cute. They have Tochi in front of their restaurant for pictures. I love how its expression is just a blank stare. As for parking, they don't validate. I parked at the Paseo Colorado for $12. The antique shop nearby validates for 90 minutes. I'm not sure how the prorated parking fee worked, but I still paid the $12 daily maximum despite the validation barcode I received on my ticket.

Yelp
My go-to spot for a chicken sandwich these days! One of the largest pieces of chickens I've ever had and it's always juicy. The breading is flavorful, crispy, and just fantastic! The fries are fluffy and fresh out of the fryer as well! Staff is friendly and there's a nice ambience. Parking is available in the area. Don't forget to check in for a lil ducky light (or dessert). If you get to-go items, you can bring the bag back for a free musubi! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Since I enjoyed the food last time, I wanted to give tokyo chick another chance. This time I ordered for dine in instead of takeout and had a much better experience. The cashier was more knowledgeable and was helpful in answering any questions. The soy garlic chicken bento box is still my favorite- I love that it comes with rice and veggies. Overall I would recommend tokyo chick but definitely avoid rush hours and plan ahead for parking! Also if you get a reusable bag with your order, every time you bring it in you get a free masubi!

Yelp
The fried chicken was very good! They had potatoe wedges which were perfectly fried. I prefer the plan chicken and just getting sauce for others who want it sauced. Just the plain fried chicken itself was already very tasty. I checked in and got their cute little mascot. Adorable little light. The service was great. Everyone was very polite. Food came out piping hot! We order to go, and it smelled amazing!

Yelp
A perfect fry on their fried chicken! Crispy and not oily. Yum! They seem to make the chicken to order so it can take a little while for your food to be ready. It's worth the wait. I'd rather have freshly fried chicken than a quick greasy bite. The steamed veggies and pickled radishes are a nice complement to the chicken. Helps to cut the saltiness. Lost a star because it's not a big place and isn't the most comfortable when dining in on a busy Saturday.

Yelp
We don't come by Old Town Pasadena too often so when we stopped by Tokyo Chick, we went all out on our ordering: * 6 pc garlic soy wings combo with fountain drink ($15.49) * katsu curry bento box ($15.49) * spicy chicken sandwich ($9.49) * spam musubi ($3.99) * katsu musubi ($4.99) * spam and tamago musubi ($4.99) For $1.50 more, I upgraded the fountain drink in the wings combo for their specialty drinks -- I tried their honey green tea. My favorites out of the order were the spicy chicken sandwich (it's HUGE!!) and all of their musubis. They have around three booths and a long counter for indoor seating. If you come during a busy time, it'll be easier to take to-go. Make sure to check in on Yelp for a free chick night light. Parking can be a challenge in Pasadena. I like coming after 6 pm for the free meters (look around the city hall area for open spots).

Yelp
Great spot for lunch if you are in the area. Great ambiance - love the cute chalkboard art that anyone can add to. Chalk is right on the counter so let your creative juices flow. Service - spot on. They are super friendly and even though they got missed one of my orders, they corrected it in less than 2 minutes. I'm glad I checked the to-go order before I left, but still no complaints. Food - was wonderful Chicken sandwich - the chicken piece was ginormous! lightly battered. very crispy. very meaty chicken thigh. I love they have all the sauces for you. Teryaki, Honey Mustard, Garlic Soy, Spicy Mayo, Wasabi Mayo (the best!), Tokyo Spicy (2nd best, not very spicy at all and sweet). Update: 12/23/23 Back at Tokyo Chick since we liked it so much last week. LOL. Today again I had the Spicy Chicken sandwich combo and it did not disappoint. I also had the spam musubi and spam + tamago musubi, both were excellent but where the business really shines is the chicken. We also ordered the Fuji Wasabi Wings Combo and you get some great tasting wings with thick cut steakfries. For the drink, I like to mix the homemade honey tea with some of the yuzu lemonade. We also did the Yelp check in for the free milk jelly dessert and its is delicious. Light and sweet with some popping boba for fun. The owners are super nice!

Yelp
I had been wanting fried chicken for a while (which is strange because I don't particularly care for chicken except from a place I used to go to in Monterey Park which sadly is no longer. No im not expecting.) The craving lingered and as I walked around I passed this place and it caught my attention. Decided to stop in and grab some lunch on my way back. Soooooo glad I did. The place was nice and clean, the employee who took my order was sweet. I ordered a 6 piece boneless signature chicken which came with fries and a drink. Grabbed a small container of Teriyaki sauce and Garlic Soy sauce. It was soooo delicious. Both dipping sauces were tasty too! I ordere to go and it came in a really cute bag. He also told me that whenever I bring my bag for future orders, I can get a free musubi. I'm deferred going back to try the Garlic Soy flavored chicken next.

Yelp
tokyo chick is definitely slept on. $15 bento boxes that are filled to the brim with teriyaki chicken! portions are amazing. spam musubis were super tasty. there's also a self-serve sauce section with like ten different sauces. the tokyo spice is spicy and really good!

Yelp
Best Asian fried chicken in the area, wings, boneless with all great Asian sauces and traditional flavors to pick from. Their bento is perfect with rice, veggies and pickled sweet daikon to balance the tasty spiced fried chicken. They also have Japanese curry either with their chicken or katsu! Yay! Super friendly helpful service. You can park in the nearby paseo lot right around the corner or near city hall. Definitely a fun great little unique eatery! They also do catering and it looks like they do a lot of it as their chicken is perfect for taking to the office or a party or a football game! They even have a reusable take out bag that you get a goodie when you bring it in again to save a bag and help the environment! Plus a couple of Japanese desserts!

Yelp
Never expected such great service from a fried chicken shop! Staff were dressed in chicken onesies and super friendly and welcoming with huge smiles on their faces when I walked in They also had a raffling event and free goodie bags. I got a super cute baby chick night light. The food itself was delicious, the chicken perfectly crispy even though I ordered to-go and didn't eat my meal until much later. I was pleasantly surprised! To-go order was packaged neatly Sauces were good Very impressed by this place! Would come back again :)

Yelp
Tried out Tokyo chick because heard good thins about it. The portions are a good size, and the food tastes pretty good. I ordered the following: Katsu Masubi -Katsu was not very warm, and this was pretty simple. It got soggy quickly. I should have just ordered the Spam Masubi. This was 2 stars. Signature Chicken Sandwich - this is their signature item. What could go wrong? Well, the chick was actually just too big. It was not shaped well and just a big piece of fried chicken put on the sandwich. It kept falling apart as I was eating it. Taste was good, but if it was put together better, it would have been better. 2 stars Curry Chicken Bento Box - saved this one to eat the next day. It was good the next day and a decent size. Nothing overly special here, but it was fine. 3 stars. Biggest problem was the WAIT! It took about 40 min to get my food after ordering it, which was crazy. I'm sticking with the 3 stars because they are trying and the service was nice. They give reusable bags with the order, which was also nice. Parking is not convenient, but I do hope to see the success here. I'm not sure if i'll return though....

Yelp
I read another Yelpie's review on Tokyo Chick and saw their photos. I was amazed so I had to check them out. I came here on 2023 New Year's Eve. Surprised to see they were going to open for 24 hours due to New Year's Day Pasadena Rose Parade. Thank you for their support! Staff was super friendly and nice. I believe one of them was the owner himself. I could have used the kiosk to order, but I didn't. I walked up to the counter to order instead. The nice lady was kind to answer my questions and offer some food recommendations. Thank you! I got the 6 piece signature crispy wings + wedge fries + upgrade to homemade drink for $1.50 more (free refills). Price was reasonable. With my Yelp check-in, they gave me a free dessert (mixed jelly)... this was so yummy! Thank you! Wings were of good size and incredibly delicious... it was crispy and had a good crunch... it did not have that oily taste whatsoever. Chicken was moist, but I noticed most of the bones were already broken in half when I took my first bite. I guess it doesn't matter since I'm not eating the bones, but just thought that was interesting. Wedge fries were good, but I wish they were a little bit more crispier. As for the homemade drink, I chose the honey green tea... very light and refreshing. The other 2 homemade drink options are lime yuzu and strawberry lemonade. I also ordered some bento boxes, more chicken, and more mixed jelly to-go. Got the katsu with curry, yuzu wings, and chicken curry bento boxes. Each bento box comes with various sides such as white rice, pickled carrots and daikon, steamed veggies, 1 pan fried dumpling, and half an egg. As for the extra chicken, I went with chicken only so got 6 wings and 5 drumsticks. Since I didn't want the fries and drink that came with the combo, they took off $3.00 from the combo price. That works for me. My daughters and I haven't eaten the bento boxes yet so I can't comment on them at this time. However, I had one observation... the chicken curry sauce got all over the other sides in the box container... maybe they can cover the curry chicken to prevent sauce leakage over to the other sections... just my 2 cents. As for the chicken wings and drumsticks, they were a big hit!!! I would recommend getting the signature crispy style for the chicken and try all their 8 sauces unless you prefer to have your sauce tossed in with your chicken. Sauces are available for your taking at the condiments station. I tried 5 sauces... garlic soy and Tokyo spicy are my favorites. They have a promotion at this time... when you spend $20 or more, you get a Tochi night light for free (while supplies last). I don't know how much they sell it for if you don't spend $20 or more. Since I made a few purchases over $20 each, I got a few Tochi(s). They are really cute. Btw, their take-out bags are cute, too. What I find fascinating about this place is their Tochi art wall. They have chalk readily available for customers to draw on the wall. If you're an artist, this place may be the place for you to enjoy some great tasting fried chicken and share your passion of drawing. Happy eats and have fun! I'll see you here! Btw, there is street parking. Pay for parking stations are all around. Please do read the street signs. There may be a few parking garages nearby as well.

Yelp
The food was very good and the service was efficient and friendly, as well as quick. As for the atmosphere, it was alright. It was rather warm inside and given it is Summer, it should be cooler. All business' should be cool inside during this time of the season. Over all, in total, I would give this a total score of B+

Yelp
Overall delicious fried chicken. Portion very generous and all pieces are huge and meaty. Fried chicken coating very crispy & meat-to-breading ratio is perfect (meaning = not only all breading like some places). We got the wasabi flavor. The wasabi gives it a little kick and there is some creamy sauce that pairs pretty well. Tip: We ate ours with rice. Flavor is pretty strong and fatty, and the rice balances perfectly for me. Hubby likes it with or without rice. The fries is potato wedges. They're not super crispy, probably because we got them to-go, but they are creamy on the inside. Seasoning is perfect, not too salty, definitely go well with the-very-flavorful-chicken. Staff were really nice and place was really clean. You can park in the back. There is an sketchy-looking-alley to enter the parking lot.

Yelp
Food was actually delishhhh!!! The chicken was so good. Highly recommend their garlic soy. Super tasty and perfectly crisp. Fat fries were pretty decent too but their highlight is their chicken. Service was quick and friendly. Inside aesthetics was clean and modern.
google avatar

Joann V.

Yelp
4 stars Ordered this through UberEats today. On the app, the combo was BOGO free and it said 6pc combo, but I think I got 8 generous pieces per box! The fries are seasoned potato wedges, which were quite tasty. If there's anything I wish they'd change is to give one sauce without charge amd maybe make the pieces bite-sized. Otherwise, it was very good. The apps promo came with a free cute chick nightlight. I thought it was the squeezable nightlight, but it isn't. There is a switch underneath the nightlight. Still, very very cute!

Yelp
This place is located a few blocks away from Old Town Pasadena and probably the only Japanese fried chicken around the area. Their fried chicken comes in wings, drumsticks, and boneless. I've ordered take out twice from here and the quality is consistent both times. The wings are my favorite, the batter is super crispy and the meat is juicy and flavorful. They also have a self serve sauce bar with 6-7 difference sauces to choose from. I always go with original crispy chicken and choose the soy garlic and the tokyo spicy sauce as dipping sauces. Their combo meals come with crispy fat fries/potato wedges and a soda. Parking: can be tricky. Theres metered parking on the streets or public parking structures in old town, which you would need to walk 2-3 blocks.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
This place is so delicious! I got the katsu bento box and it was some of the best katsu I've ever had and I've had a lot of katsu! The rest of the food was great also. I love that the sauce came in a heart shaped container and the free light up chick I got for checking it. The decor was super cute, had lots of stuff to look at during the short wait for the food. The employee was also super friendly and nice! Open sauce bar?? At a fried chicken place? Unheard of! 10/10 will come back again.
google avatar

Yelp
Okay first off, peep the giant chicken outside. The Chick is there to welcome its good customers. Secondly, the man at the register is....SO HAPPY. Like for real his positive energy will make you smile if you're having a crummy day. He's a bright light this one! The restaurant interior is adorable, lots to look at and interact with. I was on a quick lunch break from a commercial shoot so I didn't have much time here, but I will be back! Also, all of the sauces can also come on the side in these cute plastic heart shaped containers. It's fitting, because Tokyo Chick is all love. Oh! And they're open late if you need a fourth meal (or your dinner after a long work day). Til midnight Fridays & Saturdays, 10pm Monday thru Thursday, then 9pm on Sundays.

Yelp
My soy garlic fried chicken wings were not good. - Too much thick flour mix (4 bites into this drumstick, I still didn't get to the meat) - Chicken didn't taste fresh - Many broken bone fragments - I'm confused by their middle-eastern spices/seasonings (Or was the meat spoiled?)

Yelp
Outstanding local Japanese chicken joint! Tokyo Chick left me amazed and I'm so grateful that I finally decided to have a meal here! I feel like if you're a Pasadena local you HAVE to know about Tokyo Chick, the giant cute chicken is so iconic! I had known about it this place for so long, but was slightly skeptical about all the hype it got, so it took a while for me to warm up to it. I stopped in sometime in the evening on a weekday, the guy working the register was a little confused with my order, I think he was new, but that's okay he was really sweet and got everything right! I ordered an original chicken sandwich meal (comes with fries and a drink) and 2 katsu musubis. For the drink I was soooo conflicted by which of their homemade drinks to get because they all looked amazing, but eventually I decided to be basic and get their strawberry lemonade. The lemonade was the perfect mix of sweet and sour, very refreshing! The decorations in here are all very cute and the wall that I was sitting by had newspaper articles and other cool readable pieces that tell the story of the restaurant. There was only one other family inside at the time, but I could tell they had a lot of online orders. The wait time here was definitely a long one, by all means, but especially when you're expecting a quick chicken sandwich and fries, I was a little frustrated as my order took 20 minutes. HOWEVER, I promise you it is worth every second. The chicken sandwich was easily the biggest chicken Sammy I have ever had from any restaurant before (and I have had MANY). The giant piece of juicy crispy chicken was savory with a hint of sweetness that just gives you that wonderful taste of Asian spices. I was in foodie heaven. The katsu musubi was also delectable. The highlight of my visit though was seeing the owner himself give me my food with such a glowing smile on his face. All frustration of the wait just completely disappeared, that man loves what he does and you can absolutely tell with the service, the food, the branding. I ran a restaurant for years so I know what it means and feels like. Seeing his passion almost brought a tear to my eye. I wish so much success to this place! HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL FOODIES! I will be back many many times!

Yelp
Thanksgiving Day. Took an afternoon walk at the Rose Bowl and was up for a snack (was not going to have an elaborate holiday dinner). We happen to drive down Colorado and saw a life size chicken plush ties to a tree in front of the restaurant. We had to stop and try this place. Staff was welcoming, helpful and friendly. I love chicken wings and ordered a dozen of the teriyaki wings. Sauce is minimal on the wings but more of the sauces is available at the condiments station. Chicken has a soft crunch and perfectly cooked. I'm not a fan of fries but the fat fries is really good. Chicken fried rice is a must try - lots of chicken and the rice is a thicker type of rice grain. The restaurant has such a personality with the chalkboard art. Super clean interior. Definitely a fan and will return to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
This lil place is easy to miss. Luckily I found some street parking, but I can see how it might be hard to find parking during peak times. I ordered the 12 piece chicken wings, regular style. The chicken wings were freshly fried, super crunchy and good flavor. I also took a few sauces to dip, even plain the wings taste great! I appreciate the boxes have holes in them so it doesn't get soggy. I upgraded and tried the house lime/yuzu drink which was nice and refreshing, not too sweet. Overall great service, freshly fried wings and sides. Will definitely recommend and return! Also my kids love the lil duck that came with the meal, super cute!

Yelp
Great spot for a quick bite. To start off, the location of the store is conveniently on Pasadena's Main Street of Colorado! It's a small shop but just look for a giant chicken costume attached to a tree, you can't miss it! The store is just a storefront and does not have their own parking. You'll either have to park in the residential area, street parking or the parking structure right across the street. Once you step inside you'll be greeted by a staff in a chicken costume (super fun) and you'll notice that the walls are plastered with deals, QR games (for discount codes) as well as their chicken mascot all over. There's a few tables you can sit on and you can also sit bar style against a wall. From my picture, you already know how crunchy and crispy the chicken is going to be! I ended up getting a 12 piece garlic soy chicken and it was more than enough to fill 2 people (the pieces were pretty huge). The chicken was moist, crunchy and flavorful. The fries that came with it was also crunchy and did not get soggy even if it sat out for a while. They have a sauce bar in the side next to their soda machine. Don't skip out on the sauce bar, you get to taste all the different flavors they have in the menu. Overall, this will be a solid spot that I will go in the future if I'm craving some Asian inspired crunchy wings!

Yelp
This place has such good fried chicken that I went twice in a row one weekend! The garlic soy sauce is to die for. The chicken is so crispy but the sauce really just blows it out of the water! They have such a large variety of sauce options so you'll be sure to find one that fits your likings! They have kid meals which I find are a great size and the chicken sandwiches are very good as well. The interior is super cute with the chick drawings and there are a couple tables inside to eat. Not big tables tho so not good for big parties. I would say 4 people max to a table. The employees are very nice and patient!

Yelp
Parking: There is street parking but it might be difficult to find. I ended up parking at the parking lot in the Paseo and walking over. Interior: The interior is clean and has 3-4 tables and a bar at the side to sit at. Service: I got there at about 11:45 am and there were a couple of people in there already. Overall the staff were pretty nice and took the time to answer our questions. However, my order took about 45 minutes to complete and the cook looked pretty stressed out. Food: We ordered two bento boxes with wings and a chicken sandwich to-go. The portions were pretty big. The wings in the bento boxes were nice and crispy and did not get too soggy on the way back home. The rest of the appetizers in the bento were okay. Sadly, the chicken sandwich was way too undercooked for my sister to eat so we ended up throwing it away.

Yelp
I have been here a few times, and each time I come here, the food gets better, or is that just my taste buds talking. We usually order the wings combo. My favorites are the garlic soy wings and the signature wings. The combos come with fries and a drink. You can also choose between 6, 12, or 18 wings. The wings were perfectly cooked and very tasty. The workers are nice and polite. I usually order online for takeout. They pack your items in a reusable bag, and if you bring the bag back, they say we get a free spam musubi. Score! I will have to make it a point to remember to bring the bag back the next time I order from here. The ambiance was nice, but the place is small, and they have limited seats. Overall, I will be coming back for the garlic soy wings! Yummy!

Yelp
The chicken sandwich is juicy delicious and huge. So big it is hard to eat. There is a good selection of sauces to customize your taste. Comes with fries. Service is good and ambiance is fast food. Parking is so bad that it can cause you to forget it. We were lucky to find metered parking 2 blocks away. Side benefit is if you park near city hall you can see Jackie and Mack Robinson statues.

Yelp
Tokyo Chick specializes in fried chicken. What makes Tokyo Chick special is their Japanese spices to their fried chicken. It reminds me so much of fried chicken I had in Kyoto, Japan. Like all good fried chicken, it's crunchy on the outside and juice and tender on the inside. I ordered a box of wings for my wife and a box of drumsticks for myself. I asked if I can ordered just the chicken without the sides. They said "Yes." They also knock off a few bucks for just the chicken. They fried their chicken to order. Within 15 minutes my order was ready. I ordered takeout. They do have dine in and the place was relaxed. DJ's rating: 4.65/5.0 Would I come back? Yes.

Yelp
I wish I lived closer because I would definitely be a regular here if I did. The location is nice. They are walking distance from the Pasadena Convention Center, and there are plenty of other eateries and shops nearby. Parking is either on the street or in a paid garage. There is a good amount of indoor seating, but it seems like most people take their orders to-go. The noise level stays pretty mild. Single-stall restrooms are available. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Shout out to Andrew for being awesome! The food is great. All of the sauces are very flavorful and yummy, and you can try all of them since they have them at the condiment station. The chicken is super moist with a satisfyingly crunchy breading. All of the sides were good. 10/10 recommend if you're in the area!

Yelp
They've done some serious social media marketing and Tochi is cute, so I was sold and wanted to try their fried chicken, especially since I saw they do drumstick only combos, but we'll get to that. It's not bad but not great. My husband likes it more than I do. The flavor of the seasonings and sauces are good but I'm really not a HEAVY breading with extremely fatty wings (since the ones they use are so massive iykyk) fried chicken kind of fan. Their potato wedges are yummy but comes out pretty inconsistently, a couple times in a giant glob like they weren't shaken when dropped in the fryer. Now to the drumsticks. They advertise as drumsticks, but they are not drumsticks, and if you like drumsticks you know how hard it is to find fried chicken places that do a la carte DRUMSTICKS (lmk if you know of any other than KFC pls :). Big DRUMETTES, like the ones here, are tough because of their size and do not have the same meat of an actual drumstick. Looking through Yelp, there were reviews with photos of drumsticks from earlier this year (March/April), along with the photos on their menu, but I'm here to tell you they no longer drumsticks. Maybe drumsticks will make a return some day.

Yelp
**MENU ATTACHED as of 10/20/2023** Amazing service, especially from Roshel(?) ! It was our first time going here and the cashier girl was super friendly to walk us through the entire menu! We ended up getting a bunch--kids meal, sixteen piece wings, chicken sandwich. I say all of them are great, just depends what you want. MUST HAVES: -If you like spicy, get the Tokyo Spicy sauce. -If you don't like spicy, get the honey yuzu. -honey green tea was the best! Parking: -kind of tricky as it is Pasadena, but a tip is to park at City Hall nearby as it's free after 5pm! -there is street parking and some lots nearby, but just be prepared to walk a little Ambiance: -very chill casual spot! We went with two kids--very kid friendly! Overall, delicious place to satisfy your fried chicken craving! I am taking one star off as it doesn't seem like their AC was working so it was super hot and stuffy inside. Very uncomfortable--I don't even think it was hot outside, it's just very warm inside. With that, I just wouldn't recommend sitting inside. Hopefully it gets fixed cause their food and service is great!

Yelp
Thank goodness it stopped raining so my family and I could eat Tokyo Chick's delicious fried chicken. It's their first anniversary today, but not many people have come in because of the heavy rain. However, manager and staffs gave us a warm welcome when we arrived. I've been to the restaurant twice, and each time the food tastes even better! Will definitely return often, and if you're in the neighborhood, don't forget to get some delicious fried chicken!

Yelp
After being on the waitlist for what felt like an eternity at Lunasia, I gave up and decided to go to Tokyo Chick just down the street. Super eclectic storefront, with a guy in a chicken suit that you can take pictures with, a game where you can win a little nightlight, and friendly service. You can order from the kiosks or at the cashier, and it takes about 10 minutes to come out. The bentos are surprisingly filling, and the chicken and fries combo was generous. Personally I recommend the Tokyo Spicy flavor, and there is a sauce bar to serve yourself. The chicken came out freshly fried, with crispy and crunchy breading. The takeout boxes are so cute and WILL NOT open on you because of the e ay they are designed. They also give you a reusable bag that you can bring in to get a free musubi the next time you visit. All in all, a breath of fresh air in the DT Pasadena area, and I will be back.

Yelp
I was walking past this spot and stopped by when I saw they had a buy one entree get one free deal ending today (success, Tokyo Chick). The spot is cute, very clean and welcoming. The cashier was nice and showed me how to redeem the deal, as well as where I could pack containers of dipping sauces and pickled radish. I tried a little bit of the chicken before taking the train home and now I'm being tortured by the delicious soy garlic chicken smell coming from my bag. So good! It not only smells delicious, but it's perfectly crispy and freshly cooked as you order. Will definitely stop by again!

Yelp
Friendly service. Going to try the spicy chicken sandwich for the first time! Everything looks good and crispy. And the chalk drawing deco is very fun to look over.

Yelp
Great food, friendly people and great service. ToCHi is always walking around town, letting people know where they can get tasty food and drinks from Tokyo Chick. I suggest that you visit Tokyo Chick, Pasadena

Yelp
I had an excellent experience here. The mascot out front and chalkboard art is so cute. Service was great. The fried chicken is crispy, juicy and satisfying with lots of dipping sauce choices. The potato wedges were crispy and salad was fresh. I especially liked the spam musubi. It is a great neighborhood spot.

Yelp
After trying this place once from a Yelp event, I wanted to come back as a patron. I ordered takeout dinner for my spouse and I. We both loved the bento meals, as a healthy mix of delicious fried chicken alongside with veggies and dumplings. It comes with a soda on the side, too. The value of the bento is the well-rounded meal, packaged beautifully. The chicken seems to be fried fresh to order. This was important to me, because my first bite, even after driving 10 mins home, was hot--as fried chicken should be. I'm not sure how they manage, but the chicken stays crispy after the drive home. The fried chicken can come with sauce mixed, and the store offers sides of their sauces you can package yourself. The food itself is delicious, which makes it worthy of a visit. However, as an added perk, the store is pretty cute! There are hand drawn pictures of their yellow chick mascot alongside the walls. I so appreciate the personality of this local shop! Parking is very tricky however. I have parked around city hall, and that's worked for me, but it's too bad Colorado parking is so strict.

Yelp
Menu was easy to read and the food came out really quick. The food was delicious and the wings are really juicy and crispy. And there was a large variety of sauces to choose from. Great place to

Yelp
New chicken wings in Pasadena. Really good. Very crispy and tasty. Our server suggested to get all original chicken wings because they have all different flavors of sauce outside. That's what we did. Chicken itself it actually really good. Definitely coming back here.
