Ramen Akatora brings a modern touch to Fullerton’s ramen scene, blending traditional techniques with contemporary flavors. Eater LA and food writers from the OC Foodies blog have praised Akatora’s inventive bowls, including a standout spicy garlic tonkotsu and a rotating selection of seasonal specials. The atmosphere is lively without being overwhelming, and the kitchen’s open concept lets diners watch the artistry behind each bowl. Akatora’s commitment to bold, memorable flavors and its creative approach make it a must-try for adventurous ramen fans.

My husband and I came around 11pm. Our waiter was a young man that did a wonderful job and was happy to be there even though it was late. We don’t usually leave reviews but he did so well we wanted to. He manned the whole resturant on his own, which was surprisingly crowded. The food was delicious and came out piping hot and fast! We are from Arizona but will be coming back again when we’re in town.

Found this place randomly searching for a local Japanese style restaurant and found this Gem. Tried their Chicken Curry plate as it seemed to be there go to with their BOGO promotion. The curry had a phenomenal and savory taste. I went with level 2 spice which in all honesty wasn't hot at all but spicy in Japanese usually equates to Flavor. I'd recommend Level 3 next time. If you're interested in having great Japanese Curry this is the spot. I also tried their Takoyaki which was exquisite I ate it immediately and took a photo part way 🤣 into eating. Definitely coming back to try the Curry Omelet variety.

Glad we tried this place! Really tasty food! Wings, Tempura Shrimp and delicious Katsu curry! Chicken Katsu curry is BOGO! Friendly, inviting staff! Great place!

Came on Saturday for early dinner at opening time. I got a Chicken Katsu curry at level 2. The spice builds up, which I actually enjoyed! I liked the curry a lot. One caveat to me I wish I was told the BOGO deal needed a Google review.

The chicken katsu curry is one of their top selling dishes and it’s so good! Previously, I had the mentaiko pasta and that was also delicious! Service is always friendly and attentive! Would definitely keep coming back.

Been looking for a fun and authentic Japanese Curry place since my fav place went out years ago. This happens to be right in DT Fullerton. Tasty spot with a variety of offerings , beer and sake. Went with the critter themed Katsu Curry 🍛 😺

We ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry Rice BOGO. It was delicious, and they were able to design the rice into a cat! They offer three spice levels as well. Service was incredible as well, super nice and attentive staff.

The best hand rolls in the soco area. Mathew our waiter, definitely took care of me and my girl. Was very attentive, and also gave us recommendations. The eel, snow crab, rolls were delicious. The eel bowl I got was the right size for the portions. Hit the spot. My girl enjoyed the tonkatsu ramen 🍜. The only thing I can say would be parking. Other than that it's a definitely must go spot.
