I love trying different hibachi restaurants and this one was one of my least favorites. The restaurant and atmosphere itself were nice even though I did feel like the food was overpriced you have to pay extra for fried rice and you have to pay for Yum Yum sauce they also added the gratuity for a party of 2. My friend’s chicken and steak were overcooked thankfully Management did accommodate and removed them 2 from the Check overall the experience wasn’t the best and not the worse. I did enjoy my food for the most part the steak was slightly overcooked

Food was good, but the experience was disappointing. The food overall was great — credit to the chef for that. However, I’m giving 2 stars because of how the situation was handled. I was given complimentary soup, took a sip, and gave some to my son before noticing a bug floating in it. I immediately let the waitress know, and while she did take the soup back and offered another, there was no apology or sense of concern. After that, I didn’t feel comfortable drinking my $8 smoothie (which I also wouldn’t recommend), and I could barely eat my meal — I just felt grossed out. I stayed polite the whole time and quietly asked to pack my food and requested a discount due to the bug. I was told, “You didn’t even touch it,” — which wasn’t true — but more importantly, a bug in food is unsanitary no matter what. What bothered me most wasn’t the bug, but the lack of empathy or professionalism. I wasn’t treated with care, and I could tell I was being gossiped about by staff — even if I didn’t understand the language, body language and tone say a lot. They eventually removed the smoothie and gave me 10% off, which I appreciate, but the way the situation was handled left a bad taste in my mouth. None the less was visibly angry that I didn’t want to tip after such experience. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning. Do better by your customers and quit making them feel like an inconvenience, as soon as they walk through the doors.

We went to this restaurant to celebrate my son’s birthday, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing. The food was just okay — nothing amazing or memorable for such a special occasion. What really shocked us was the lack of hygiene. The employee who prepared our food at the hibachi table was wearing visibly dirty clothes, which made us very uncomfortable since the food was being cooked right in front of us. In a restaurant, especially with hibachi service, cleanliness and presentation are essential. Unfortunately, this completely affected our experience.

Food was great,so fresh that sometimes it’s cooked right at your table. The mushroom soup was tasty all the while packing a small hint of spice. The salad was fresh with a tasty house dressing. The chief was amazing,he had all the tricks with great tasting food. The experience is something to remember and a reason to return. With such a first time experience I am definitely coming back with my family and will enjoy watching it all unfold all the while my food is being prepared. Post script- my next visit will provide more pictures of what is offered as an appetizer as well as plated food presentation.

Service was friendly and efficient. For me the flavor left a little to be desired with the hibachi and portions were small on the meat. If we go back, I’d probably try their hot pot. That seemed to be the most popular thing around us.

Me and my 2 friends went to habachi, there was two total amounts and we kindly asked about it. They told us that it was automatic tip after we already paid the chef $15 and that we still have to pay another $15 dollars. We told them how we already paid the chef a tip and still was told we still have to pay. We got a ridiculous amount of attitude and was being hovered over. Will not be coming here again.

I love this restaurant we go every other week on a Friday all the servers know what we order . The chefs are amazing .

Food & drink was fantastic- fried rice in particular was absolutely phenomenal. Service was great. My daughter had a blast and loved the hibachi. Zero complaints about our visit to this establishment.

Went here after mall shopping for a quick bite. We were a bit concerned about their 3.3 overall rating but decided to give it a try. Overall, the service was mediocre, but the food was good. We had all vegetarian options - Maki sushi with avocado and cucumber, agedashi tofu, and stirfry vegetable udon noodles. All three dishes were very good, no complaints. Service staff was a bit slow at first but then improved. Wouldn't drive here for a meal but while mall shopping it's a nice option.

First time here, and ready for dinner. The ambiance was okay, a little dark, fairly quiet. Not a bad environment. A party was having a birthday party towards the back of the restaurant. It seemed like they were having a great time. I entered optimist and excited for the experience. However, our seating server didn't seem very friendly about seating us. Once seated we waited about 30 minutes for others (2 people) to be seated and our orders to be taken. Prior to this we were served our drinks and soup and salad. We received no water until we asked for some. However, the party next to us received water drinks and soup and salad promptly. We found this very interesting. Our chef ‍ is what saved this review from being a one. Our chef was great! Very engaging and attentive. Our server however never returned. Our chef removed our soup and salad bowls, which were then removed by the other parties server. Our food was good, and very filling. We had enough for leftovers. Our visit took an additional left turn when we received the bill. Our total was as expected, until we saw an additional 15% added to the bill by hand. We inquired what the fee was for. We were told it was because the bill was over $100 dollars, and was a tip for the chef. We asked to see this written on the menu. It could not be shown and was removed from our bill. We tipped our chef in cash, and left a small tip for the server. Our chef was the only person that thanked us for coming and wished us a good night. Upon leaving, I almost slipped down, due to the front entry floors being oily, which caused my canes to slip often. My party assisted me, to make sure I didn't fall. Unfortunately, I don't see a return visit, which is sad as it is close to my friend's home.

Turns out we came back and we were let in those time. The food was actually good. And the chef that made our food was funny. Overall: 4 stars

I made a reservation, confirmation arrived via email and text and when we arrived at the place they said that they DO NOT TAKE ONLINE RESERVATIONS, terrible attitude of the host and zero solutions for us... so as NOT TO COME BACK EVER!

I was craving hibachi like they used to have at north gate in revere. The square one mall is not where I expected to find it. I will say the mall was a ghost town but this place was full! The servers weren't the friendliest but the chef was awesome! Tossing knives, eggs, shrimp, and putting smiles on our faces - this is why we wanted to come to hibachi! The sirloin was cooked perfectly and the fried rice was very tasty. Nothing crazy here but if you're looking for a decent hibachi place north of Boston I wouldn't hesitate making the trip here!

My friends and I came here on a Wednesday afternoon. They had open seats but it was apparent they were understaffed as it took a while for someone to seat us. The menu is extensive ranging from sushi, hot pot, hibachi and even ramen. Since the goal for the day was hot pot, that was whah we opted for. I always like to try their watermelon slushes but was not a fan of theirs as it was partially real water the rest was artificial syrup. As much as I wanted to enjoy it I just couldn't get over the fake after taste that would be left in my mouth. Our broths were half Tom yum and beef tomato. Being a part of four, we ordered the beef lovers and seafood supreme plates along with the included two plates of veggies. The complementary veggies included corn, Napa cabbage, bok choy, daikon and tomatoes. I'm a huge fan of needing a crunch when eating, so we ordered extra sides of enoki mushroom and corn. Overall, I had a good experience. Because they were severely understaffed, it took an extra 30 minutes to leave to get the check and pay. They were still very nice when they were able to get back to us and completed each request for napkins, water refills, and extra drinks. Would come again!

Went there tonight and loved it! Filet mignon was amazing. They were good cuts of steak and were cooked nicely. (MR was more like MR+ and R was closer to MR with our chef) We liked the shrimp. Salad was good. Veggies were very good. The only negative was the soup to start. My wife hated hers (I am allergic so I did not try it). Overall though, it was great. Wonderful filet dinner at a reasonable price. We will be back.

I called to see if they were doing hibachi at the table (previously they were not due to restrictions) and they had me make a reservation... just for me to come in and tell me that there're no tables and it's a 20-30 minute wait -- that ended up being 45 minutes. I don't mind waiting but unfortunate that they had me make a reservation and not honor it. They then had us put our name and number to call us but didn't. Then sat other people and then asked them to move when we came back to check on the wait because they didn't call us. Other than that, the experience was good! The chef was so sweet and entertaining! The food was delicious. I got the sirloin steak (D2) and it was so tender and you get three pieces of shrimp with it. so so so good. I got fried rice and it was a bit bland. but the meat and veggies really make up for it! Delicious food!

We came in around 8:45p for hotpot on a Sunday evening. They close their kitchen at 9p and were still very accommodating despite our late entry. Our server who was a young man was very kind and easy going. The broth was great; we tried kimchi and Chinese herbal. Although I love spicy food, Chinese herbal is always my go-to and theirs did not disappoint. Seafood was fresh and veggie plates were plentiful. It was 3 of us and we ate down to the last drop. Came down to $33 p/p including tip. Will be back!! I've ordered the hibachi to go in the past and will return to get the in-person experience next time. The group that was doing hibachi was having so much fun that my grandma asked if the laughter was from real people or a television. Thank you, Tokyo!!

Don't come here!!! Hands down the worst hot pot I've had in Boston. The Tom yum broth was not flavorful. When we asked for more paste, the server Sammy said she would charge us another $5. She was also so rude- we asked for sesame paste or peanut butter for the dipping sauce and she turned and walked away before dismissively saying no. She only came and checked on our table once to refill our waters and poured water into my friends ginger ale. Never refilled our broth. The mushroom medley was so pathetic it was a tiny bunch of enoki, white button mushrooms and baby Bella mushrooms lol. Oh and we all got diarrhea the day after.

We were there tonight for my moms birthday ( who passed away in December). The waitress came over to us three diff times in front of my whole family complaining about an 17 percent tip! Very embarrassing ! I called when I got home spoke to the manager and she said the waitress came over once to make sure everything was okay which was clearly a lie! I will stick to yomato in Norwood! Do not recommend this place!!!!! Go to Yamato in Norwood! They also give you fried rice and noodles you don't have to pick one or the other!!!!

Food and service have definitely gone downhill. I haven't been here for about a year and usually order takeout. I decided to order takeout again because I was close by. When I went to go pickup my order, there was know-one at the host stand so I went to the bar because I saw the bartender leaning up against the bar texting on his phone. I went up and told him I was picking up a to-go order and wondered if he could help me. He looked at me with a bothered look and told me to go to the host stand and then picked his phone back up and proceeded to text. Haha ok When I got the food (sushi rolls) I was definitely disappointed by the quality and the price for the quality. I ordered 5 rolls as seen on the picture of the receipt. The overall flavor was lackluster and in one of the rolls there was barely any eel (cucumber eel roll that was basically rice and cucumber with a hint of eel). Long story short, I'd suggest the sushi from market basket or wegman's for the price and for the quality and quantity of fish and overall flavor.

Place is good but the one waitress was rude telling our table "What you want" after we asked her for refills on drinks. Needless to say that caught us of guard.

Superb hibachi dinner. Fun for the kids, saki for the adults. Lots of meat and seafood options for reasonable prices. Large portions. Timely service for drinks soups and salads, sushi is also available as well as hot pot. Tucked in the corner of One Square mall in Saugus , once you enter you'll forget you're in the mall at all, unless your facing the windows with a view of the escalator haha. Food , drinks and chef so good it doesn't affect the experience. Steak with scallops cooked to order with fried rice and vegetables were fantastic. Complimentary shrimp with every hibachi dinner. We shared the table with some regulars who were treated very well, they keep people coming back. Next time you're feeling like fresh Japanese cuisine, this is your spot for a good price point.

I took my friend here for her birthday lunch and it was such an amazing experience! Our hibachi chef , Lee, was the absolute best. Whenever I go I will ask for him from now on. He was super entertaining and so friendly , it made the food and visit all the worthwhile. Staff took our temperature and gave us hand sanitizer at the door. I will be returning.

Attentive Service Entertaining Chefs Good Food at Great Prices My kids and I went here and had a ball. The Chef had my whole family laughing so hard we cried. The whole experience from start to finish was great. Super fun place to bring kids.

Love this place. So convenient on rt1. I love to go there to have hot pot. Fresh and tasty. No need to go to Boston. Highly recommended.

This is a very reasonably priced local hibachi restaurant. They never disappoint. It is a fun atmosphere, and the food is delicious. The service is always very attentive in my young children always have fun with the hibachi show.

The host lady in the hoodie is extremely rude. We went in the restaurant at 11.35AM on Sunday 6/18/2023 (today) as the restaurant has the sign saying they are opened at 11.30AM. Once we walked in, the host stared at us blank so we asked if you are opened. She screamed at us saying not open not open!! So, we asked what time will you be opened but she kept screaming not open and trying to rush us off the door. So, I asked could you tell me what time you are open today and so yelled at me "12!" and tried to rush me out. So, I pointed at the sign on the door that shows opening time at 11.30AM. Very rude and they lost so many customers because of this impression. I'm sure other employees there might be nice but this host lady really need to have hospitality mind to maintain their business. Poor restaurant.

Hibachi chef was very engaged and entertaining. Food was good and staff was friendly. I would not recommend the frozen mango drink, it was pretty much flavorless. I think it was just some mango juice blended with ice. Salmon was tasty. No complaints on the food, but I got maybe 6 pieces of vegetables which was unusual to me. We eat at different hibachi places frequently (more than one) and always get a satisfying amount of veggies, not here. Its located in the mall so if you dont like people walking by watching you eat then this is not the place for you. They seem to have a full bar. Lots of food choices. Aside from hibachi, they have shabu-shabu (hotpot).

My family always goes here for any holiday or for the hell of it and the food is always delicious

Great time tonight for my mothers birthday the staff was so nice and attentive. The person cooking our food was amazing entertaining and so nice to mom and small kids we had with us . Great time food was excellent everyone loved it very happy thank you

This place is great. It's huge and has many tables. We came in for a birthday and upon arrival we had to have our temperature taken. Staff were in masks and were also delightful. We had a wonderful chef who made our teppanyaki experience fun and delicious. We felt very safe here and also had a good experience. We will be back. Only issue is the phone number that was not working. We booked online and hoped it was open. Come - you'll enjoy it!

The hostess was very rude. At the end of our dinner she was rushing us to leave. We will never come back here again. They included 15% gratuity for a party of 4.I've never had it included for such a small party. We generally give 20% but with such poor customer service 15% wasn't deserved. I would not recommend this place it horrible customer service.

DO NOT EAT HERE. Steak was cold without sear. Gingerale was watered down. Soup was made from dried seasonings. Non authentic dishes with terrible quality managment.

I have been going here for years now and always used to love it. Went here for Father's Day with my children and we will never return! We sat at the hibachi had a wonderful show and were eating while the chef was finishing up the other couples meals. We all got the same vegetables & fried rice with different meats cooked at different temperatures. The meat and rice were wonderful and while we were eating the vegetables we were all making conversation with the chef and focusing on him (we noticed a slightly odd flavor in our veggies but just thought it was part of the sauce or maybe the mushrooms hadn't been washed thoroughly). Then once he finished cooking and cleaning the grill the girl next to us at our table found a cigarette butt half smoked in her vegetables. This instantly made everyone at the table lose our appetite. The chef remade her plate but she still had to demand to speak to the manager before anyone came over. Once the manager came over he hushed her up and kept going but never came to speak to my husband or I about the fact that they were all cooked together and he had let them feed my minors nicotine. They handed me the check and then I asked for the manager. The waitress insisted that he discounted the check and everything was fine (he had only taken $15 off and still wanted us to pay over $100 for contaminated food we didn't eat not to mention he made my kids sick from eating nicotine). The manager finally came over and said he discounted the check and would have a new chef come remake our plates to which I responded (loudly at this point because I was pissed that my kids were feeling sick from this) "you fed my kids nicotine I am not paying you over $100's!". He left and came back a few mins later to inform us everyone at our table was covered. The manager sucks and tried to blame our chef (who didn't prep the veggies) but it was really the prep cook's fault. Even though he covered our bill I will still be making a complaint to the board of health for the simple fact that the manager didn't seem to care that he was feeding children poison.

The service was awful. The chef wasn't happy. He didn't do any shows for my family to enjoy. I've been to this location before and I loved my previous experience. Our previous chef did a little show for us. He interacted with us. This one didn't even bother. The food was SUPER SALTY. OMG! My family are still talking about it until this day. We were there on February 12, 2021. I will never go there again and I will never suggest this place to any of my family or friends. I spoke with someone else that was there on February 28, 2021 and she said the same thing. Awful service and food was salty. It was the same chef. Quite honestly, I don't think he like his job and it shows.

Best sushi in the mall. Love his Volvano yum. Very fresh service is friendly after you get to know the staff. But the Sushi guy is the best.

Got seated last night sat there for 15 minutes no one came over to greet us or take our drink orders. We had a 5 and an 8 year old so we couldn't wait any longer. We really were excited to try it maybe they don't have the help but at least send someone over to tell us it's going to be a few minutes.

Food was average, salad was literal water. Hibachi guy was nice, but got the oil that he cleaned off after seeing us in my boyfriends food. When it came to the bill the price was not worth the experience. Also felt very pressured to tip due to them automatically adding it onto the bill. When we asked for a pen to change it they refused to give us one after asking multiple times. Ended up just saying I'd like to pay cash for the tip so I could give less than the one added onto the bill because I was very disappointed with the service at this point. It was my birthday so maybe my expectations were too high but after this experience I will not be returning here.

If I could give this place six stars, I would. Our chef was very talented, charismatic and most importantly , very good with our food. Everything was deliciously and my girlfriend and I had a wonderful time. What gives this the extra star is what they did when my girlfriend lost a clutch bag at the restaurant. They were so friendly and helpful and helped in finding it. I can't sing their praises enough. Definitely with stopping in.

Have been doing Shabu research for months here on Yelp... I was intrigued about it & off I went reading EVERY Review of every Shabu place in Boston & surrouding areas... So we went here as this was close to home and the prices were not as steep as many others. We went Friday afternoon for lunch & the place was EMPTY - however, I imagine this place doesnt pack up as its in the mall.. Place is super nice & clean, pleasant staff... Sat at a Shabu Booth right opposite the Grill so I was able to see the tricks and fire but not eat at the Hibachi table... The waitress came out & we explained how we were "Newbies" she was over informative (although I had done soo much reasearch I felt like an Old Pro) she gave us some suggestions, told us about the Temperatures and then we ordered... First we got Edamame (My new obsession) and it was great - PERFECTLY salted. A Crazy Maki Roll - which was also good. For the Shabu: We ordered Meat Combo 1 (which was more than enough for 2) Mushroom Variety Side Corn Side ( I like Corn) She gave us a Free New Fungus they were offering Variety Meat Balls (wish they were marked so we knew which was which) Vermicelli (Bad Idea) Jumbo Shrimp We had the Beef Stock that comes free and then TomYum Thai Season (it was SOOO perfectly Spicy if you like spice) The vermicelli was the only down side - It instantly clumped and was unable to eat easily (next time Id try Rice) When she brought over all the sauces/Garlic/Peppers she even explained how to mix & make sauces, she was very helpful & we will DEF come back - with all the Ala Carte choices we assumed the bill would be crazy high but suprisingly not... Everything was just right... Just wish I knew what Meat Balls were which as we only liked the one that tastes somewhat like Meat/Sausage.

I had such a fun time here. The hibachi chef was so talented and charismatic. The food was also amazing. I got the scallop hibachi and for only $20 I got tons of scallops, rice, vegetables, and a side of salad and soup. We were also given a complimentary few shrimp as the chef made a very large batch even tho it wasn't apart of my order. Their drinks are very high quality too

I'm not sure how this restaurant still has decent reviews since it seems that people have been receiving terrible customer service here. Tonight we stopped in at this restaurant to celebrate a few family birthdays. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by a polite hostess, but found out that the reservations we had made yesterday was never entered into the book. That was the start of a great experience... We ended up being a group of six for hibachi. Once our group arrived we ordered drinks, appetizers and our meals. Our appetizers were slow to arrive and I ended up getting my sushi at least fifteen minutes after everyone else got theirs. As I scanned the restaurant it became obvious that they forgot to make my sushi and scrambled to put it together once they realized. When it came time for dinner, the table that arrived half of an hour after us had their meal started before ours. As we sat and watched them dine, we waiting almost an hour for our meal to be cooked. Since it was the table connected to our grill, we saw that the staff had fudged the tickets and prioritized them first. When our hibachi chef finally arrived he was great. His name was Kevin and he actually put on a good show. That was the only plus. The food was bland, the sauces were off, and the overall quality was lacking. After our meal was over, we were rushed out the door (not asked if we wanted desert) plus the fact that there was an already added 18% gratuity. This experience did not warrant 18% and that is coming from someone who worked in a kitchen and lived off tips. In the end, what an awful experience and what a terrible attempt at customer service. We spent over two hours in this restaurant and only enjoyed the fact that we were surrounded with family.

Hot pot is OK, they're missing mushroom w/ da veggies! I love my mushrooms. The kimchi broth is good. I like their generous portion of udon noodles. I rather eat at hotpot buffet in Chinatown. & their rice dishes are OK too! They we're out of green-tea & red bean smoothie! I'm sad! When they pour alcohol in mix drinks they're very generous too! I loved it, that I can taste the hint of alcohol in my drinks! The waitress's we're very nice, friendly & I feel welcomed in their restaurant. I don't like it when they add the tip to the bill & no refills on sodas

Over priced and they will ask you about your tip of they feel it's not enough. Thanks for making my sons birthday so special. Will never return to this place! That takes some balls to ask why you didn't tip more in addition to blowing off what you normally do for someone's birthday. Thank you Tokoyo steak house!!!

I have finally found my go to hot pot restaurant on the North Shore. We used to frequent Hulun Beir in Boston but since we have moved out of the city we don't go there as often. I woke up this morning with a craving for hot pot so I did a little research in Yelp and this seemed to be the best place that was closest to me with free parking. The decor is lovely. I was seated quickly. I ordered the Tom Yum and Vegetable Platter. I was very happy about this decision as it came heaped with vegetables (Bok Choy, spinach, Chinese cabbage, 3 vegetable dumplings, tofu of various kinds, tomatoes, mushrooms, and corn on the cob.) and udon noodles. Much more economical than ordering a la carte and honestly enough for two people. The Tom Yum was perfectly spiced and with just the right amount of heat. All the veggies and noodles cooked quickly . I loved the dipping sauces with onion, garlic, and jalapeño which really complemented the vegetables and noodles with the right amount of salt, heat, and spice. A very filling and satisfying lunch. Service was actually fine. Waitress was attentive and filled my water twice and checked on me a few times. Just near the end the hot pot was too hot and was boiled down and starting to burn so I had to switch it off myself and notify the waitress. Don't be afraid to operate the induction stove during your meal. But still going to rate it well because the food was just amazing.

‍ NEVER AGAIN! Had hot pot here last night and we both got food poisoning! The Szechuan broth was overly oily and spicy, but bland that I couldn't tell if something was off. Was it reused old broth? Service was soooo slow, even though it wasn't really busy. Something bad is going on here. Will never return.

ok, I probably give too many fives. And it's probably not helpful to people, but I just had no issues and we had a good time so five it is. Went with 4 preteens and teens to celebrate a birthday (many weeks after the fact but that's how we roll). So the only thing I would say against was the the hostess seemed but upon, you know like teenagers are and there was a bit of bruskness and even a sigh. This review is for a lunch, we were seated at a hibachi table and got to see the knife and spatula skills as food was produced in a timely and fun manner. The chef was having a good time, messing with the girls a bit and the three other customers. The food was great, nice big portions especially since it was lunch, vegetables and meat were perfectly done, a tasty little onion soup and pretty much that was that. The kids loved it, it wasn't crazy unhealthy and we were out the door for a hundred bucks including a 25 percent tip. Good times, hope to be back with grown ups and drinks.

Only had hot pot and sushi here. The Hot pot is great, I always get the Tom Yum broth. The sushi is also very good here! I tried most of it and really liked it. My favorite would be the Volcano maki and Crunchy roll. Their alcoholic drinks are delicious as well. Minus one star because the server is not consistently attentive.

This place is hidden in the square one mall off route 1. Each table has a shabu heating element built into the table. I had the sashimi deluxe but had to remind the server of the soup and salad that came with it. My wife ordered the hibachi salmon. The sashimi platter was beautifully persented and the hibachi platter was very good. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the only fault here is the training of the servers

Had baby octopus and vegetable teppanyoki. So far everything else is good. Would go again and the prices are reasonable

My mouth waters just writing this. My boyfriend took me here for our first anniversary. I had one of the best meals of my life! And I've dined in Japan! Fresh food, clever flavor profile pairings, and the highest quality ingredients. I would say America-wise...this parallels with Nobu in Malibu. A must go to!

I always love this place. The food is wonderful and a decent price. Perfect place for my family and I to spend time together or for my boyfriend and I on dinner dates. We pretty much always do hotpot. Recommend the kimchi broth and prime rib!

Always a good experience with the food & staff .. their protocol for sanitation during the pandemic has been the best I've seen at a restaurant with hand sanitizer & their touch-less thermometer check before you're seated. The staff has always been great too friendly fast service thank u!!
