My family & I enjoyed the service and food here. We’re thankful this spot brings traditional Japanese flavors and dishes with high quality ingredients. I personally enjoyed the little details that mirror Japan culture & dining, such as most (if not all) of the plastic, yet realistic looking, dishes showcasing in the window. It gave us an idea of how the dish would look like, & they did not disappoint! We also enjoyed how ordering and paying was simple yet efficient (which is scanning your table’s QR code & following the process from there). This place is definitely worth coming back to repeatedly.

Great location, convenient and friendly people. The display outside is exactly Japanese style and impressive. Good size of inside and great foods. Soba noodle was outstanding. This is one of the best Japanese restaurants

Been wanting to try this place for a while now and was so happy/excited to finally get the chance to! First of all, the interior design is so cute and homey - especially the booth seatings. Highly recommend for a cute first date!! You order off of a QR code and pay directly on it which makes things super convenient. Food comes pretty much a few mins after you send the order, really fast service! The food.. THE FOOD!!!!! We ordered all the “highly recommended” dishes off the menu since it was our first time. The karaage was honestly one of the best karaage I’ve had in a while, it wasn’t oily or extremely crunchy like most - it was the right amount of crisp and fried. The dipping sauce was also not overly mayo-y which was a plus. Having the karaage first, I knew the katsu would be amazing and it WAS!!!! Oh boy, the katsu curry was so delicious this is now my go to for katsu!! My mouth is watering thinking about it. The sushi was priced just right and the salmon tasted so buttery and good. Will definitely be back!! Love love love this place!! I can’t wait to be back to try their other dishes.

Google
I came here with my family and we absolutely love it! There is so much flavor to the food. I couldn’t get over the flavor of the fried chicken cutlet. The gyoza was so crispy and delicious! The sushi was so fresh and delicious. The spicy california rolls were spicy which is amazing since many places don’t make it spicy at all. The Miso Ramen was very delicious!! I definitely coming back here again!

One of my husband's and I favorite spot. We took our 11 month old, and she got a free soft cream. Perfect spot to dine in with family and friends 🫶🏻

Google
Never have I ever experienced anything like this since I've come back from Japan many years ago. The experience before even walking in the door is fantastic as they have wax replicas of all their dishes which is something very traditional to Japan! The food was fantastic The service was fantastic! Many of those that were working within the restaurant or Japanese and it just added to the experience as we were able to speak to individuals in Japanese and also connect with them knowing where they are from!

Google
I wish I could rate this higher because the food was pretty good. Vibe was chill and staff was nice. Udon - very good. Not the best I have had but solid choice. Ramen - it’s alright. You can get better elsewhere in dfw. Sushi - subpar. Rice is overcooked. Vegetable tempura - can’t go wrong with this. Solid choice. Curry - not bad. Could be better Unagi don - big eel pieces. I like it but have had better

Google
The ambiance very nicely done and service was only average. The food tasted very authentic and nice. The sushi was very tasty and the beef from the sukiyaki was very tender, fatty and juicy. They have a huge variety of Japanese food and this place is great for Japanese food lovers. Their prices were pretty affordable for quality Japanese food.

Yelp
5/5 Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance Came for a Thursday lunch, and we were pleasantly welcomed in. The restaurant was fairly empty, but the food did not disappoint. We got the spicy teriyaki chicken and chicken katsu curry udon. Both were delicious and had fresh, tender meat. Plus, the sizes were good! I wish they had a lunch special because I would devour my way through them. Overall prices are a tad pricey, but so worth it. Support your local japanese restaurant!

Yelp
This s one of my favourite restaurant! There's plenty of choices from ramen to donburi to Izakaya! It was my first time taking to go cause I'm not feeling well but still delicious! There's lots of choices here and I recommend the spicy miso. Ramen noodles are nice, al dente and slight bite to them! Egg is jammy but a bit cold sometimes. Chasu is delicious. Beef Udon here is good but not my favourite. I just prefer the ramen here! Service is friendly, place is clean & I love the decor!

Yelp
I felt like I was back in Japan again when I ate here. The food was incredibly good and fresh, having a feel of "home" that I rarely taste in similar restaurants. The entire restaurant's interior was unique and had a lot of space, and I loved seeing the classic plastic sample dishes outside at the front. With how easy it was to order and how quick the food came out, there's very little (if anything) I would change about eating here. We have a new favorite Japanese restaurant in DFW now!

Mk T.

Yelp
Good balance of food and price. Occasional quick fix of Japanese curry udon. They serve pretty decent pork katsu.

Paul L.

Yelp
Impressively good Teishoku, Katsu, and soba in a large, well-designed space with perfect service and an authentic experience. Some places bait you with IG worthy pictures of the ambiance, but Tokyo Shokudo was truly huge and beautiful with dedicated Japanese cubbies that felt cozy and themed with cute cartoon/anime posters with recommendations on how to eat your food. The salmon sashimi was delicious, fresh, and wonderful as an appetizer, although a little bit thick would be my only critique. The katsu curry was some of the best I've ever had, with a great kick, massive portion size, and perfect pairing. The tomato sauce like consistency of the curry was very similar to what I had in Okayama and cannot find anywhere else here. Seems to be some collaboration between Carlos Jr from Torrance/Gardena and here in Plano with the special katsu menu- very cool and highlights the authenticity of the experience here. Many Japanese locals here and the wait staff speak primarily in Japanese as well: good sign! Soba was also very good, my gf is a soba enthusiast and she spoke very highly of it. Tempura was crispy but soft and fresh on the inside. This is now our favorite Japanese restaurant in DFW and we will be back.

Yelp
This is my fourth or fifth visit at Tokyo Shokudo and I tried their Tendon for the first time and I wished I had it sooner! The Tempuras were perfectly fried and super crispy and the tendon sauce was right on point. The cold udon noodle was also really great. The noodle texture was perfect, right where I wanted it to be and together with the dipping sauce, phenomenal. My husband's karaage teikshoku was great too. Matcha shaved ice is their summer special dessert and it was so flavorful, with plenty of matcha sauce on top of milky shaved ice. Service and ambiance are always great, and I will definitely go back again!

Tim T.

Yelp
This place is amazeballs and has truly authentic Japanese cuisine because a) all the employees speak Japanese, b) you have those fake plastic food displays enshrined in glass cases outside, c) there are telltale Japanese instruction diagrams-artwork, d) the food is great and features menu items you simply can't find anywhere else, and e) there is a Japanese broadcast of a Dodgers game plus Pokemon playing on TV screens in the back. Their kikune noodles were fantastic as well, and they offer you free edamame. Excellent experience overall and I shall return!

Saori S.

Yelp
First visit with my college students son and his American friend who just came back from Tokyo trip. We really enjoyed authentic Japanese food and services. The entrance with waxed menu presentation attracted us and make us feel like we were still in Tokyo!

Maserati C.

Yelp
I only ever get one thing here & it's their pork tonkatsu teishoku. lowkey this place is a hidden gem. I love the interior and how it's always decorated to match the season. The food is also really good as well, and it's one of the only places I can confidently say that I finish every bit of my meal. The only thing that can be a negative for people, is the slowness of the service at times. but for me, it's kind of charming since I already am prepared for that to happen. honestly I've been here way too many times. I have a friend who has also placed much hype on their scallop nigiri. I think it was like $5. It taste good, but I'm not the type to casually spend $5 for a two piece nigiri. Also my partner said that it didn't look fresh. So I guess try it at your own risk?

Katarina S.

Yelp
Only really got sushi here plus appetizers. They have other choices on the menu like ramen, curry, and other noodle dishes but didn't get those. For appetizer got the takoyaki and grill makerel. Both were delicious. Takoyaki came as 6 balls, the batter was a bit gooey on the inside as is the usual compared to other places, and the taste was on point. The grill makerel does have bones so be careful of that, otherwise was yummy and not too salty. Got sashimi bowls (came on a bed of rice), some nigiri, and a sushi roll. Overall the sushi quality was very good, thick pieces of fish, color was deep and not pale, the texture was very soft. Everything was good and would absolutely come back.

Tzu-En L.

Yelp
I am rating this place 10/10. I ordered champion katsu curry and omggggggggg. The katsu meat/oyster were perfect, they were not overcooked and the meat was very tender and juicy. The curry is amazinggggg and taste perfect for me. The entire food is perfect with the flavor and not too over salty. Service here is friendly and you order food from the QR code on each table. You know a place is legit when the server and a lot of customers here are Japanese and speak Japanese. Def returning here next time when I am in Dallas

Michelle C.

Yelp
Tokyo Shokudo was average, nothing particularly special or unique about it. The spicy miso ramen was the highlight--very balanced with a great level of spice, and all the ingredients came together nicely. However, the deluxe Tonkatsu ramen felt unbalanced. The broth was extremely rich with fats, and despite the presence of vegetables, it was a very carnivorous and heavy dish. The nami combo was a good deal. The miso ramen in the combo lacked flavor, but the nigiris were good-the fish was smooth, buttery, and melted on the tongue. The interior was beautiful with cute Japanese decor (like the Godzilla) adding to the atmosphere. The lady who served us was very nice too. Overall, I'd rate it a 3.5 if I could. I might come back if I'm in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again.

Nga N.

Yelp
Cute and clean sushi place that feel homey. I had the sashimi rice bowl and the quality of the fish is definitely up there. However the rice was mediocre and I did wish for more fish lol. Hubs had the miso ramen and enjoyed it. The bowl was small but he was ok with it considering he's on a diet lol. Definitely will come back and try more dishes. They have a lot of different items to try.

Paulina H.

Yelp
Glad to reunited with my friend. They chose this place since we never been to Texas. They always wanted to try this place. After the meal I knew they chose the right place. We ordered gyoza and Takoyaki to share and they were amazing! I also ordered salmon and Ikura bowl, and two pieces of scallop nigiri. They were very fresh and very tasty. The server was sweet and love her smile. She seems very genuine. She would check on us and make sure our water is filled. The whole restaurant is decorated with a lot of Japanese decor. It's a good vibe. Definitely a good place to hang out with friends.

Yelp
Recently visited this Japanese gem and left thoroughly impressed - definitely planning a return trip. The ambiance sets the perfect scene for a memorable dining experience, cozy and inviting. I tried the spicy chicken teriyaki curry, the eel dragon roll, and the outama beef bowl. The dragon roll was exceptional, easily the best I've had, while the spicy chicken teriyaki curry delivered a delightful kick. The outama beef bowl, with its simplicity and flavor, was a comforting end to the meal. Despite arriving close to closing time, the service was remarkably quick and attentive. The expansive menu promises plenty of great future meals, making the decision to return an easy one. The total bill came to $60 after tip for the three dishes, which felt like great value for the quality and ambiance provided. Can't wait for my next visit!

Yelp
The best curry katsu I have ever had in this area by far. I went with a couple of friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food and our time there. The service was great and the staff was super kind. There are private cubbies there that feel great to sit in and give a supa cozy vibe. Truly a great experience and will 10000000000% percent go back.

Amy Y.

Yelp
My folks really love this place, my dad says it's his favorite curry in town. I really enjoyed the udon & the tempura bowl. It's a very large menu with a good variety.

Alexis I.

Yelp
The food was truly delightful and nutritious, and the customer service was incredibly warm and compassionate. I felt genuinely welcomed during my visit. I would absolutely return, as it was such a positive experience.

Kayo N.

Yelp
We went there Saturday morning little after 11 AM. There were only few customers there dining so we were seated at a booth immediately. Staff were really nice and helpful. We ordered a ponzu oroshi tonkatsu teishoku (a pork cutlet with radish soy citrus sauce) and a mix fried teishoku (a variety of fried seafood). You will get a main dish, a bowl of rice and a miso soup, and few pickled vegetables on a tray. The fries were so tender, juicy and crispy but fluffy at the same time. So delicious and definitely reminded me of an authentic Japanese dish!! I am from Yokohama Japan so I guarantee you that you won't disappoint quality of food here. "Rice and cabbage are free refill" is also common service in Japan if you go to a Tonkatsu restaurant so I love that they do it here. Highly recommend. I came here with my son this time so I will definitely bring my whole family for next time. And I will recommend to some of my friends who love Japan.

Ashley D.

Yelp
This place is so cute! It is a small restaurant but I love the decoration. The staff is really friendly and made sure to check on me and my party. The food was also delicious and the sushi is a really good value. They offer Japanese comfort food as well as izakaya and parfaits! Everything was great and I see myself coming here more often to try more of what they offer!

Amber Z.

Yelp
I ordered the sashimi bowl. Food is fresh. Service is good. Ambiance quiet and pleasant. Would come back again.

Kenny E.

Yelp
I love the Japanese small kiosk restauramt ambiance with umbrells, curtains, lanterns ans wooden structures. Owner and servers were japanese so we had high expectations! Service was prompt. We ordered the deluxe ramen, pork katsu and the sashimi deluxe box. The fishes were super fresh and they melt delightfully in your mouth! The ramen was over the top delicious and I have been to many ramen restaurants. This is the best ramen I have had in the dfw area. Pork katsu is tender and the rice had the perfect balance of vinegar and texture. All in all, just an amazing experience from service to food. Will definitelt be back!

Anthony C.

Yelp
Solid ramen for the location and authentic. Trying the deluxe vs the tonkatsu standard i would go with the standard. Overall I enjoyed the flavor better than the deluxe which had a high fat content broth that honestly didn't make me want to dig in for more. The pork slices are on the salty side so be mentally prepared. Overall service is solid here as well so I will be probably coming back to check out the rest of their menu.

Minh N.

Yelp
It's a cute restaurant with many Japanese-inspired decorations. The service is great, and the food is amazing. The udon broth was especially the best.

Matt L.

Yelp
Tokyo Shokudo is hands down one of the most authentic Japanese dining experiences I've had in the area. My girlfriend, who's from Japan, absolutely loves this place and says the food reminds her of home, which is the ultimate compliment! If you go, do yourself a favor and order the chicken karaage. It's crispy, juicy, and full of flavor--and definitely ask for extra lemon on the side. The little burst of citrus really elevates the dish. We've tried several things on the menu, and everything has been delicious and super fresh. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with just the right mix of modern and traditional vibes. Whether you're a fan of Japanese cuisine or trying it for the first time, Tokyo Shokudo nails it every time. It's our new go-to spot, and I can't recommend it enough. The service was polite and professional.

Ritz L.

Yelp
PB(Pooh Bear)and I came here to check this place out this evening. I wanted to see if it's authentic Japanese eatery(I'm Japanese)and sure enough, it is! We were very excited. PB is not Japanese, but he loves Japanese food. I took screenshots of all the menu items/beverage which I will be posting later, so you can see what they have to offer and they're pretty good! I was so happy to see that the server spoke Japanese, so I spoke back to her in Japanese. The place looks quaint, spacious and nicely decorated with Japanese themed pictures/fixtures(and many sake barrels). I ordered spicy miso ramen, gyozas(6 pieces)and side of rice. My ramen was ok. They also have Tonkotsu(Jiro ramen)ramen, but they weren't on the menu or I'd had ordered it. I'm not much of a Miso ramen kind of person. Gyoza was deep fried(they're usually fried and steamed), but they were fine. I ate them and they were good. For that reason, I'm giving this place 4 stars. PB ordered Mozuku appetizer(slimy sea vegetable supposed to be good for your health), sashimi premium(it said to serve between 2-4 people, but PB ate it by himself)and Blossom rolls(salmon and salmon roes). He said they tasted like straight out of Japan. He's actually been to Japan and he had sushi/sashimi and other food there. I would love to try other items there next time. I saw other guests' orders and they look pretty legit and delicious, so this place is a real deal. The dessert menu looked really good too. I can't wait to come back, so I can try more stuff.

Kevin C.

Yelp
The staff is super polite and nice. They work very efficiently. The interior space is roomy and welcoming. Love the Godzilla decor. The food is definitely true Japanese. Their Tonkatsu and tempura dishes are very tasty and flavorful. Sushi is definitely fresh and delicious. I have not any unpleasant dishes so far. I been here twice and love it. I highly recommend you try it out.

Peter L.

Yelp
Omg!!! Carlos Junior from Tendon Tempura in Torrance is here. I'm so stoked, always like his tempura back in California. He's famous tendon tempura bowl is here!!! It's nice some part of Cali comes to Texas. Felt a little homesick. Everything is good here, most of the workers are Japanese and Carlos is great! Ambiance feels like we're in Japan. I'm so happy there's actually an amazing Tempura bowl in Texas!!! Come try it and you won't regret it.

Victoria G.

Yelp
Little slice of Japan in DFW! Everyone was so nice and quick service. My husband got the ramen and I got the Japanese curry. Both delicious

Lucie N.

Yelp
ORDER Fried Squid Takoyaki Katsu-Ni Curry Nikutama Udon Overall the food was just alright. The flavors seemed a little bit more on the sweeter side than usual which caused some flavor fatigue after a while. The fried squid was a little heavy on the battered/fried portion and didn't really taste like squid in my opinion. The Takoyaki barely had octopus and was probably about 95% of the batter as well. This was a little disappointing and made the dish a lot more heavy/filling. As far as the Nikutama Udon, it was very very sweet. I'm not an expert on udon, but I don't think it was super representative of Japanese udon. The soft-boiled egg was not like the consistency that I had expected (like the boiled eggs that typically come with Ramen or other noodles) and again the flavor was just too sweet. VIBES Very cute vibes. The booths with tables have a wooden house-shaped structure that looks very modern. There are both tables and chairs and the decorations give it a cutesy look. A good place to hang out casually for lunch. SERVICE I don't know if they still have this, but when I went there were different deals for each day. For instance, Tuesday was Kids day where kids younger than 10 years old got free ice cream. I thought this was a pretty cool idea. As far as service, the person that served our table was very nice; however, it did take a while to get the check and to-go boxes once we were done. Also, this is just a note, but since the place had just opened, they didn't have any rice for sushi which was a little disappointing (back in January). This is probably resolved by now though!

Elaine M.

Yelp
Be ready to wait if you walk in for dinner (even on a weekday like Tuesday night!) If you don't want to wait, make reservations because we waited a long time for seating and several people came in and went straight to a booth because they made reservations. The decor is really cute and inviting. What the hubs loved the best was the inflatable Godzilla sitting atop the wall. There is a side party room that is very open space and pretty. We ordered many appetizer dishes so we could try a smattering of stuff: fried oysters, mushrooms, unatama, mackarel. We also got salmon roll, salmon bowl. They gave us a small bowl of edamame to start for the long wait to be seated. Everything is really delicious and beautifully plated. If you don't mind waiting to be seated, wait for your order to be taken, wait for the food, and then wait to get the check... then it's a pretty nice experience. Great for if you have a lot to catch up with a friend.

Linh T.

Yelp
We were greeted by the most friendly staff! When you sit down, they bring a small plate of edamame (free) to snack on while you wait for your food. Everything we got here was so good! My husband got sushi and he said everything tasted so fresh! I got the pork tonkatsu plate, came with plenty of food, even with a side salad and miso soup! The staff were all very friendly. The inside is super clean. Definitely would return here to try other things!

Yale K.

Yelp
Service, cleanliness is great so the fact that when you add the food quality this is definitely 5 stars for authentic Japanese Cafe food. This will become a regular spot for our family. We want to come back and try more of the menu items. It's definitely a gem here in Plano. Itadakimasu!

Monalisa Z.

Yelp
Food was good. Matcha parfait 5/5 - the matcha taste wasn't super strong , not overpowering, and not too sweet. I think they put Ferrero rocher at the bottom of the glass and poured chocolate syrup then put matcha ice cream afterward. Fried oyster -3/5. I wish it didn't smell fishy but it did. Grilled salmon -4/5 It came with soy sauce, by itself it was already salty. we then asked for teriyaki sauce. I love having my grilled salmon with teriyaki sauce, that's why Shoyu ramen 5/5 I loved the soup, full of chopped green onions and umami taste. The chasiu itself was not bad. Spicy salmon roll 4/5 I didn't see any Japanese on the floor, the servers were Latinos, making me doubt if the food were gonna be authentic. One thing that I thought was weird, was that I had to ask for itemized receipt at the end. They didn't give it to me before.

Jean M.

Yelp
Not that great service honestly. I called to make a reservation, which was smoothe and simple for a Friday night. Then asked if they do the 3kg food challenge. They said they will be able to do that! However, our party walked in and sat down and they stated that they don't do the challenge anymore. It was kinda disappointing considering I brought a few friends to do the challenge and then got denied...even though the confirmed on the phone earlier in the day. Would appreciate clearer communication. Also, I think they need to post it somewhere on Instagram that they don't do it anymore. There are lots of videos and ads about their food challenge still. Atmosphere is nice and open and cozy inside though, I'll give them that!

Johnny T.

Yelp
I would not recommend the eating challenge here. There is a deceptive amount of rice compared to the photo. We are talking like 3lbs or more of rice. The meat will be easy to finish in 5 mins but they make money off the rice. GGWP

Hang L.

Yelp
Great prices for the portions that you get. I don't usually finish my rice but I are every gain here. The batter they use to fry their food is perfection. The crunch after each bite even after being in curry or dipped in sauce was phenomenal. Interior is super cute and they played an anime playlist playing. If you're a weeb you'll love this place! They have specials throughout the week and if you're dressed in cosplay on Friday your meal is 50% off (That's unheard of nowadays!)

Phan N.

Yelp
Got the chicken and egg don and wife got the grilled mackerel set meal. Both were delicious, definitely will come back. The menu is diverse, not your typical sushi, udon, ramen Japanese restaurant. The curry looked really appetizing but we will have to try it next time, I'll update my review once I've tried it. But 10/10 if you want comfort Japanese food I highly recommend Tokyo Shokudo. Will try to take pictures next time, I was too hungry this time around.

Kathleen W.

Yelp
I reaaaaaalllly wanted to be a regular here but sadly, I don't know if we will be returning. We have gone here four times and each time, although the food is good (tempura is great, all other menu items that we have tried have been pretty solid) the service has just been mediocre at best, and that's being generous. Two times we have gone and I have seen people walk out after waiting more than 5 minutes to be acknowledged or greeted at the door. I recognize that they are probably understaffed, usually only one waitress servicing the whole restaurant. Takes forever to get our food and even longer to get our check. This last time though it was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back. My husband was eating his ramen and found many pieces of string in his soup. I know it was probably used to wrap the char shu but I don't expect to eat it? That honestly wasn't even that bad, we would have continued coming back because we liked the food but when we told them about the string we didn't even get an apology. The waitress took the string back saying she would tell the chef and after we found more pieces she just gave an explanation again without an apology. We thought there was a chance that they might comp us the ramen or given us a free dessert or an apology at the very least, but nothing. And it took like 20 min to get our check. Anyways. All that to say, we will not be returning. It is kind of overpriced too. They had so many chances to remedy the situation with just a simple apology and they lost a would-be regular customer.

Jon N.

Yelp
Where do we begin? Let's start with first being greeted with some of the most friendliest workers in which it was so inviting. The restaurant decor has the usual authentic Japanese decor mixed in with the fun anime/cosplay theme. I met up with a few friends in which we tried multiple dishes consisting of Takoyaki which I'm usually not a fan of but they did it just right and flavors were awesome, entrees consisted of my friend getting curry katsudon, udon noodles with beef, and fried tempura dish. All of the flavors were authentic, flavorful, and just plain delicious. This restaurant is a gem and we were all surprised why it wasn't packed. Come visit and dine at this great establishment, you will not be disappointed. We been to Japan, California, and so many Japanese restaurants where this is definitely in the top five in Dallas and comparable in terms of how being authentic. Side note - Friday is cosplay night where if you dress up you get 50% off.

Yelp
We visited this establishment a while back, and it was ok. They were a bit busy, so the service was a little bit slower. I ordered the pork tonkatsu curry, which was cooked well. My husband ordered the beef yakiniki. Everything was ok until he found remnants of a metal chain in his food. They were very gracious and comped that part of the meal. All in all, we may revisit one of these days, but they definitely have a few kinks to work out

Yelp
Food - 4 Service - 4 Value - 4 We came here on their opening day and service was little bit slow but that's understandable. We were a bit surprised that they had no hot tea/matcha options on the menu. Food itself was good, and one of the few places I've seen the eel-egg rice bowl and this is certainly something I'd order again. The miso soup was a nice surprise with the different ingredients they add to it as others have noted already, but something felt a odd to me as it did not contain any seaweed at all. Chicken cutlet dish seemed just ok to me but I only had a bite of it. Menu itself was a little confusing as they had three different options for Chicken Cutlet and could have easily just listed Chicken Cutlet one time and then listed add-on fees for a boiled egg or for whatever else was optional/extra (and they may have done this for a few other dishes too).

Yelp
Came here for lunch on their first opening day. Upon entering, took a while to be welcomed. Once acknowledged, we were seated at a waiting table since all 6 booths & 2 tables were full. Here's our order: Appetizer - free edamame, which were cold & frozen. We let the head wait staff know & since its free, no biggie. Takoyaki - since it was about 70% potato filler, it was hard to tell the tenderness of the octopus bits, but overall, still yummy. Main - I ordered the chicken cutlet boiled plate. It came with a nice small side salad of mixed greens (none of that iceberg lettuce/carrot combo) with corn (Its corn! Sorry, can't help it after that viral corn song), fresh grape tomatoes & sesame dressing. Even though the miso soup came in a small cup, it was chock full of spinach, tomatoes, tofu & corn. The chicken cutlet was tender, not tough & the side cabbage slaw with sesame dressing was pretty crunchy. Since the egg was soft boiled, it blended in with the gravy, so I didn't taste too much of that. The serving of rice soaked up all the leftover bits nicely. Hubby ordered the eel egg bowl which he enjoyed thoroughly. The eel was nice & tender & the rice was piping hot. It also came with a side of miso soup. They currently do not have sushi available. I asked if they served any hot green tea, which they don't & upon asking, won't be adding to the menu. So I ordered the iced matcha, which is pure unsweetened matcha tea & may not be to everyone's liking. It looked like there was a party room as well. Service - 3 stars (to be fair, its opening day & they are still hiring) Food - 4 stars Overall, I would come back to try the other menu items.

Yelp
Really great food, looks just like the pictures in the menus, right after we got seated they brought water and some vegetables and it took a bit for us to get the food, but it was well worth it, the food was so good. The store is very beautiful and clean with a very nice ambiance.

Yelp
After coming back from my trip to Japan, I was craving authentic Japanese comfort food so we decided to try this place. Since we were still jet-lagged we were up early and got here right when the restaurant opened. I could definately see this place being very busy during the weekends since there is nothing like it. The closest thing we can think of to yummy Japanese food would be at the Mitsuwa supermarket, but those stalls generally close early IMHO. Foods we tried: - Started off with the basic Sashimi Set - It is what it is. Thicker cuts and 2 pieces each. Perfect for 2 people. It was really nice of them to add 2 pieces of hotate sashimi (scallops) since that wasn't on the menu for the basic set. - Saba Teishoku - A very good healthy and hearty meal set! - Beef Curry - I felt like there was so much curry sauce to rice ratio that I was able to take some leftovers home for a second meal. You can taste the sweet and savory of the curry which was very comforting. - White Fish Tempura - It came out pipping hot and the batter was light. I think they partner with Tendon Tempura Carlos Junior in Torrance, CA (which BTW is one of the best places to get tempura done right!). The service was great and the environment was so cute. Next time we go back, we would love to try the sashimi bowls and possbily their izakaya/tempura menu items. Also, I wish I took more photos, but I was too hungry and the food looked too good to not devour in seconds!

Yelp
This is my favorite Japanese restaurant in Dallas since the menu is so extensive I can pick whatever I feel like depending on my mood. I've tried the karaage chicken don, karaage chicken with curry, spicy beef curry, sashimi bowl, the numerous katsu teishoku, curry udon, and haven't had anything I didn't like. The service can be a little slow to check out but usually getting the food isn't an issue. I come here every other week when I'm in the area.
